This place is walking distance to the main avenue, lots of parking but be ready for a quick sharp entrance. The pool and garden area is great. My room was a family suite and was perfect. The distance to the historic center is a bit long for a walk. I enjoyed my stay, a few places near by for food hit the spot.

The hotel was very nice. We were put on the first floor when we checked in and spent the first night there. But the AC was not working, and the room had a very musty/moldy smell. So, the next day we were moved to the fourth floor and had a balcony, a huge tub and kitchen area. It was much nicer and larger. We appreciated the upgrade. My only other complaint was the face that we were only given 2 towels and 2 waters per day. (2 towels total for 2 people) We asked for more and they would not give them to us. We ate the restaurant several times and the food/prices were good. But they were slow with service if you did not do the buffet and the buffet did not open at the times specified. Sometimes it was almost an hour later. Otherwise, the location was great, the courtyard was beautiful and the staff very friendly. Nice hotel for the value!

Room was great, very comfortable beds. We were told our breakfast was included, then after we ate, they said THEY made a mistake & it wasn’t, so we had to pay 500 pesos. The lady at the restaurant was very rude & insisted we pay for their mistake. The gym was under construction so we couldn’t use it. There was always a peacock on the stairs with his $hit all over the stairs.

The staff came in daily to clean and change towels. The room was very quiet and we couldn’t hear any other guests. The outdoor area was really nice, containing a pool and yard to relax and walk. The best part of all however were the two peacocks in the yard. They leave out food and water for them so they’re used to humans walking near and taking pictures.

La chambre était propre, mais prendre une suite est inutile. Il n'y a qu'un comptoir et un petit frigo qui s'éteint dès qu'on quitte la chambre. Il faut laisser la carte-clé ( et aucune autre carte ne fonctionne, nous avons essayé) de la chambre dans un receptacle afin que l'électricité de la chambre fonctionne. Il n'y a pas de micro-onde. Nous avons demandé au service de nous prêter des bols et des ustensiles, ils ont refusé. Donc, il n'est pratiquement pas possible de manger dans la chambre. Nous sommes arrivés à l'heure du check in et la chambre n'était pas prête. Le déjeuner est assez cher, mais c'est un gros buffet de nourriture mexicaine.

The place and the people are excellent. The garden is beautiful, and there's parking available. The shampoo and body wash come in large bottles and are not in small disposable containers, which is a plus especially since you're in Mérida, where the heat is intense and you might need to shower up to three times a day.
In my opinion, there's a lot of noise because events are held downstairs, and the rooms don't have proper soundproofing.

We liked that it had free parking. Priced ok. Pictures dont reflect wear and tear and poor maintenance of the propertt and grounds. Ie: torn curtains, rusted bath fixtures, poor lighting, sewer smell in parts of the hotel.

I like that it was walking distance from Paseo Montejo, but the installations need repairs, the seating area by the pool the cushions had horrible stains, some of the staff were nice others not so much, specially the bellboy at the entrance, we end up parking and getting out car from the parking just to avoid him, we find hair on the pillows when we got there, that lead us to believe that at least the pillow cases were not changed. The food was just ok, we definitely needed to go out to restaurants for good food.

The hotel was a great value! Room and balcony were huge! The room was clean and the beds comfortable. The staff was very pleasant. The grounds were lovely. The pool is partially covered, they have peafoul which is fun, a small play area, hammocks and loungers. Parking was easy. The hotel is conveniently located and about a 10 block walk from Plaza Grande. There are other cute areas such as Parque St Lucia even closer. We had two queen size beds, a dining table, a couch, a counter and mini fridge. The bathroom was clean and spacious.There was a sulphur smell that we suspect was the water. We experience the same smell in certain areas of the US also. There is a restaurant onsite. It was pricey for the quality of the food. We suggest eating elsewhere but it is nice in a pinch. The towels were rather scratchy and not plush but we have found that to be common in the region. A note to non-Spanish speaking guests, much of the staff spoke Spanish only. However, the front desk staff spoke English and we communicated with the other staff with their limited English and our limited Spanish.

Big bedroom, clean, most of the people are very nice, I like the breakfast buffet, good selection.

I do not like that we didn’t have a key for the bedroom so every time we go out when we back we need someone to come and open the bedroom door. Very strange. I asked reception for an extra towels as we had only two and we were three and the receptionist was vocal and said they only provide one for each person. He gave me one more towel. I felt that every time I asked for something the answer was negative o perhaps the guy has an attitude.

Loved this little gem in the middle of centro. Beautiful garden are with hammocks and sun beds and a pool, good bar service, nice breakfast buffet and great greeting service from the valet and front desk. Rooms are huge, I had one with the jacuzzi tub that I used twice. Good a/c, lots of water and nice and quiet. Will definitely stay again!

Nice property for roughly $50/night. Our TV didn’t work, but wasn’t our priority. Pool was nice, hammocks were amazing. Breakfast buffet was clearly a popular weekend destination for guests and non guests alike. It’s hard to beat an authentic buffet for roughly $12 USD. I would consider in the future.

Loved our stay!

A nice surprise! The suite was even larger than we expected. The balcony had 2 glass sliding sets of doors to access it, and a small balcony off the kitchenette area. The beds were comfortable, plenty of hot water, great AC, refrigerator and coffee maker in the room. The pool was great & the garden beautiful! There is a pair of resident peacocks that live in the garden/pool area of the hotel. A male & female that are very calm, but you may hear them in the morning. There is also a school that backs up to the pool area, so if that kind of noise bothers you be sure you do get a room above the pool. We actually enjoyed the peacocks & the noise of children going to school! We did not eat at the restaurant. Sunday morning there was a band & the music was extremely loud. There are many great restaurants nearby, so we never tried the hotel restaurant again. Paseo 60 is 2 blocks away; it has restaurants, breweries, wine bar, shopping and a ADO bus station. Parque Santa Ana is about 8 blocks in the opposite direction. Paseo de Montejo & mansions, museum’s & interesting sights is about 3 blocks away. We would definitely stay again.

The room was very spacious and nicely appointed, with comfortable beds. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The location is very convenient, with an easy walk to Paseo Montejo and the Central Park, with tons of shopping and restaurants of all types, from fancy to basic. The only issue we had was luke-warm water in the shower, but the overall value for money can't be beat.

The good: Comfy bed/pillows. Great location. Service in restaurant on day 1 was good.
The Bad: when I checked in they didnt tell me where anything was, what time the restaurant or bar was open. Anything about the amenities. It was here is your key. There is the elevator. Turned out the bar was \"open \" but no one was working it. Desk told me to order room service to get a beer. I ordered 3. Half hour later they were delivered warm. Fridge in room didnt do much and only ran when key was in the room. The room safe didnt work. I had to ask for toilet paper and extra water. Service in restaurant on day 2 was not good.
The ugly: Walls were thin. You could hear everything in the halls and outside. A/C Remote was filthy. Halls smelled bad.

Merida - a foodie paradise in the Yucatan

Loved Merida. The food is the best in Mexico. The hotel is located a few blocks from Parque Santa Ana which is where you need to be for the cultural experience. The hotel food is just okay, so I recommend that you spend your time eating outside at the fantastic collection of cafes and restaurants.

Shower water was not evacuating at move-in; they did fix problem when I reported). Sometimes there is no water and you need to wait to shower (at least 3 times in 7-day stay). They provide 1 tiny roll of toilet paper at a time and we had to buy our own just in case. They often forgot to replace dirty towels after removing them, and I had to call to request. Staff was pleasant and helpful. In general not terrible, but just average.

We booked the presidential suite for two nights as a special treat and were looking forward to the jacuzzi bath and the spacious terrace. Sadly there was no water on the day of our arrival and this was eventually fixed late in the evening when a small amount of water began to come out of the taps. The next morning there was no water again. This was then fixed and I managed a shower with a slow trickle before the water gave out completely. The hotel moved us to a basic room on the first floor - no jacuzzi and no terrace, but at least we had water! Really disappointing especially as we had paid for the highest priced room.

I spend 7 nights at Hotel Palacio Maya. I really liked to stayed in this hotel, the employees are very friendly and helpful. It's clean and the rooms are spacious. I didn't like the food of the buffet, but I liked the food a la carta.

Estuve 7 noches en el hotel Palacio Maya. Los empleados en la recepción son muy amables y siempre estuvieron listos para ayudarnos, el hotel es muy limpio, y sus cuartos son muy espacios. Aunque en ciertas áreas huele un poco feo. No me gustó la comida del Buffet, pero si me gustó la comida que ordenamos a la carta. Gracias a todos sus empleados por su amabilidad y su ayuda. Con gusto lo recomiendo😍

Great for group or family

As a single traveler, it wasn't the right fit - but for a group or family, it would be fantastic. The property is beautiful; Cecil greets guests at the doors with a big smile; & the peacock & peahen were fun to flirt with. The only bar is in the pool area (mosquito hell for me). My room's AC did not work well and I had no hot water. They do not have washcloths or hair conditioner. As someone who likes to get out on foot, the location was not ideal for me, however if you have a car and plan to drive further afield during the day, this would be an ideal location.
