If you are staying on a saterday night the hotel puts a fiesta on with dancers and other acts right outside and you can sit in the forecourt of the hotel and have a grat view. staff proffessional and very helpful and all speak english

The Boutique Casa San Angel is an absolutely stunning hotel! Our room was spotless and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. All spoke very good English so communication was not an issue. The hotel is at the south end of Paseo Montejo and we were able to easily walk to many restaurants, sights, etc. Highly recommended, thank you!

The hotel is in a perfect location and the architecture and decorations are beautiful. However, we experienced a few inconveniences:
- Safety box was not functioning and it was not attached to any structure. It was just placed inside a piece of furniture in the room.
- The room was hot and felt moldy when we checked in.

Our first visit to Merida was fantastic and staying at the boutique hotel made it so memorable. The casona is so peaceful, lush and quaint. The staff was great too! William at the restaurant was so helpful and gave great tips for traveling and seeing other parts of Merida. It’s prrfext for a getaway with your partner, spouse or girls trip. We were minutes from shopping, restaurants and Plaza Santa Ana.

Room did not look like photos. In the bathroom, only one side of the faucet worked, they had no drains covers, and the shower/tub was dangerous entering and exiting. The hotel air conditioning went out for two nights so we had to reserve a different hotel. It was not a good experience.

El personal del hotel súper amable, disponibles 24h.

Silencio en el hotel, se puede dormir perfectamente con sus cortinas black out y su tranquilidad.

Comodidad, la cama cómoda, las almohadas también. El diseño del hotel es muy lindo. Cuenta con elevador y una alberca que la verdad ni usamos.

Relación precio/calidad Excelente. La verdad fue excelente decisión la de hospedarnos en este hotel. Lo recomiendo 100%.

Beautiful space convenient to Paseo de Montejo. A bit far from the Plaza Grande but a safe and pleasant walk. Our major complaint was that the property stated no children under 12 but there were two younger children in the room next door that woke us up several times due to their incessant screaming. There was also a lot of noise at night from the karaoke bar next door and the concerts/events hosted just outside our room (the latter may have been just due to Merida Fest, but we aren’t sure)

We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. The hotel is perfectly located for anyone who wants to explore and enjoy Mérida: it stands at the southern end of Paseo Montejo so the restaurants, pubs, museums, and other entertainment along the Paseo are only a short walk away. A wealth of other restaurants, pubs, shops, and museums are only short walks away in other directions.

Entering the main atrium feels like walking into a sanctuary. You’re surrounded by plants, the sound of water from a small central fountain; warm, earth-tones paint the walls; welcoming seats and tables provide shadowed places to lounge when the temperatures get warm. The staff are welcoming and wonderfully helpful. Everything is clean.

Our room (101) was fantastic: clean, spacious, sunny, with a very comfortable bed, comfortably air conditions, and a relaxing shower. As a bonus, the room had a Mayan hammock made of sikal but be warned: my wife and I both thought it was the most comfortable hammocks we’ve ever rested in but it’s only large enough for one.

If we visit Mérida again, this would be our first choice as a place to stay.

Had a wonderful stay. The hotel is small, beautiful and quaint. The rooms were clean and comfy. There's no frig or microwave, but I didn't need them. There's a very nice restaurant right next door and there's also one in the hotel. Centro and many conveniences are in walking distance. I felt completely safe the whole time. The area was quiet with the exception of the jazz band playing at the restaurant next door one night and a Christmas show that took place on a stage right outside the hotel another night. I enjoyed opening my windows and listening to the music. All of the hotel employees were very kind. Roberto was the best!

Everything was really good until we decided to go out for a walk. They lock the door everytime so you have to ring the bell and they open the door. When we came back, we had to wait for 25min at the door, ringing the bell and calling the phone several times in the night because the man at the deskfront wasn’t there.

We were able to enter at the hotel because another gest open the door for us. He had to leave his room in his pijamas because he heared the ringing bell all over the hotel.

On the next morning we explain the situation to a girl at the reception. She was very ashame for his coworker and couldn’t explain what happened to the man.

I found wird that they asked for your key when you go out the property so they can count the guest that are outside, it would be better to check with your number, instead of leaving the key.

Also when we came back, of course they had our keys so we had to enter and take ours.

Besides that,reservation includes light breakfast:coffee, small portion of fruit and a piece of mexican bread.They have other options for breakfast at extra cost.Slow service with one waiter for all the tables.

Hotel was really nice and well maintained, all the rooms were different but super nice decoration and acommodations.

Hotel has a small pool but we did use it.

It was nice that they have drinkable water and ice outside the rooms so you can take it for “free”.

I recommend the property but not sure about the service and sometimes that makes the difference.

Great Experience - Recommend for many reasons

This hotel is excellent by any standard, and it will be part of the experience vs. just a place to stay in Merida. The staff was very professional and friendly; I could not make the continental breakfast due to an early flight, so they made me a to-go fruit bowl with bread. The restaurant has excellent food at a great value. The decorations are natural and add to the positive experience. There is an elevator for guests on the second floor. The only items that need improvement are:
- They still use keys instead of keypads (for security and convenience).
- There are many mosquitos in the open garden courtyard; they should consider something a mosquito zone repellant like Thermacell.
- The main door needs a keypad with a timed code provided to guests and a better intercom system because they are locked at sundown, and impatient guests may bang on the main doors (at very late hours) and possibly wake up other guests in the hotel. They should consider a keypad on the front door with a better intercom system and instructions for guests at check-in to be patient.
The positives outweigh the negatives and I've already recommended this hotel to others.

This hotel is beautiful and user friendly. Merida is safe in general, and this neighborhood seemed very good. It's a few blocks to el centro and one block to the touristy restaurant district.

They lock the door at night and sometimes during quiet days, so you have to ring a bell to get in. A little inconvenient. We had continental breakfast, which was quick and great. We didn't use the pool.

This place is a bargain. Definitely better than staying at some giant modern hotel further from el centro on Paseo Montejo.

The hotel itself was fine but unwary travellers need to be aware that the parking is away from the hotel. This was a bit of a headache as you have to go to the hotel to get someone to open up each time. Whilst the breakfast was nice it was limited and we were led to believe that the restaurant would be open but it was not in the evenings (there are other options locally).

We have stayed on Merida many times but it was our first at this gem of a hotel. It will not be our last. This is a great hotel with many tasteful amenities. The tropical lobby with the vines climbing up the columns and the fountain were very welcoming and the staff could not have been nicer.

Excellent hotel, room, comfort, service, and location. The only thing can be improved is the “continental” breakfast as it is very basic and limited (coffee or tea. Fruit plate or juice. Toasted bread with a serving of butter& jam).
The next hotel I’m staying is simpler but as nice, there are coffee and juice and fruits and yogurt and cereal and 2 breads and cake, at a cheaper rate.

Casa San Angel esta muy bien ubicado, en la zona del Remate del Paseo Montejo. Las instalaciones estan en muy buen estado. El personal es muy amable y estan pendiente de todo. Tuve el placer de conocer a su Dueña, una mujer encantadora, que se ocupa personalmente de cada detalle. El lugar es mas impactante que las fotos.

We enjoyed our stay at the San Angel very much. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, the location great, the common areas lovely and relaxing. Only improvements we could suggest would be better lighting and at least one comfortable armchair in the room (there is plenty of space for it). There is comfortable seating outside the rooms, but not much within it, and the light is inadequate for reading. If you have a rental car, note that the hotel's locked parking is a block away, so when you get your car you need to alert the staff. They are always very willing to unlock the gate, but it's an added step.

A stunning hotel in a very convenient location in Merida. Only a 10 minute walk to the heart of the town and only moments away from Paseo De Montejo.

This really was a very beautiful (and romantic) hotel and staff were very accommodating. We chose to rent a car after landing at the airport and parking nearby was pretty safe and easy.

I would definitely stay here again! The in-room hammocks are a must.

Great location for a small and charming hotel. We enjoyed the common areas, the pool and our room a lot. Sara, Eloina and Josuè at reception went beyond duty to make us feel comfortable and welcome. They are their best asset. We can't say the same from the restaurant staff. Service was just Ok, something between impersonal and not properly trained. To be asked to leave tips in cash rather than to sign them to the room was uncomfortable. We defintely go back but probably won`t include breakfast in our booking.

Great location and beautiful, elegantly quiet hotel within walking distance of Merida's \"must see\" Centro sights and best restaurants. Beautiful artisan shop onsite and nice little restaurant. Only downside at all is iffy internet.

My best hotel experience ever. The staff was super accommodating, the hotel was nothing less than stunning, even got to meet the owner, she was a lovely woman.if you are looking for the best hotel experience, look no more. There is no better in my opinion. Fantastic location.

Great, friendly hotel

We loved our week at this hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms are very nice, with quiet AC and ceiling fans, and a good sized bathroom. They provide bottled water in the room every day, and there is a large water dispenser outside the room, so you can fill up as much as you need, when you want it. We used the hammock in the room and in the common area quite a lot, which was lovely. The pool is quite small, but was more than enough to take a cooling dip in the afternoon. The courtyard is beautiful and relaxing, and the cafe fed us well. Do note that the continental breakfast that comes with the room consists of coffee, choice of fruit plate or fruit juice, and toast with jam. You can order more for breakfast and just pay for whatever the extra cost was. They also have lunch and a nice selection of sweets.

The location was perfect, as it is right at the end of the Paseo de Montejo, and is a short walk into the more boisterous center by the zocalo.

Charm in the Historic District

Walking thru the door we were greeted with a beautiful, open courtyard. Fountain, wall murals, plants and even a pair of parrots adorn this hacienda's courtyard. All rooms are upstairs and over look this courtyard.
We had a good size, king bed room. It had a desk area and small, padded bench for seating. In addition we had a hammock in the room, if one of us wanted a spot for a cool nap or to read.

They have a restaurant and small boutique on their property (located on the main floor of the hacienda).
Room came with Wifi, while it bounced on and off occasionally, it did allow us to keep in touch and check out info on local sights to see.

The staff were very helpful and kind, helping us with our Spanish and providing info whenever we needed it. By the end of the trip, we felt like we were coming \"home\" each night, not some cold, sterile chain hotel.

10 minute walk to downtown, Plaza Grande. Lots of restaurants, free events on the weekends.

Cool colonial atmosphere in a central location.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The rooms are great, the public areas are airy and spacious and covered in lush greenery. The restaurant was good too - I especially enjoyed the flank steak.
At the weekend this is a perfect spot - the Mexican Nights musical program takes place right outside the hotel so you have a ringside seat. Then on Sundays you can stroll the Paseo Montejo just up the road - it is closed for traffic on Sunday morning so families are out on their bikes.
There is great dining nearby too - Oliva Enoteca provided a top class Italian dining experience kicked off with the best margarita I have ever tasted. Also in 20 mins you can walk to Hermanos Republica which serves local brewed Patito craft beers in a pleasantly restored old house. (Calle 55 & 64).For beer, La Linda on 49 is well worth a try as well. Actually the beer is better here but the bar space is unremarkable.Try Gitana on draft.

Clean and friendly.

The hotel is very clean. The staff try really hard to solve your problems. Which is important when you only speak English like me. Nice restaurant. Cute parrots. We loved this place!
