LOVED this casually elegant hotel and you cant get a better location.
Visually enchanting. The ground floor room was spacious and very quiet, shutters block all light at night. Super comfy bed, separate outdoor shower that we used every chance we got. Very attentive staff. The restaurant is another reason to love this hotel. We ate dinner there twice during our 5 night stay, it rates as well as any dining experience in Merida. And the included breakfast goes FAR beyond the cold cereal and packaged muffins you get here. The hotel and restaurant staff speak great English and were delighted in sharing their knowledge of the area ruins, cenotes and other atteactions when we asked. The gym is impressive. We would definitely stay here again.

It is in a good location and the hotel is well maintained.
The breakfasts that you can include with the reservation
are OUTSTANDING! Wait staff is excellent.
Food at dinner is average and for the price disappointing.
Be sure and bring complete documentation of the room you paid for and reserved. They will try and put you in the least expensive room. I paid for and reserved a poolside room and was assigned a small room on the second floor. If I had not had proof they never would have honored the expensive room reservation.

I was somewhat disappointed in this property. Food was excellent in the restaurant. But the room was showing some wear. And the stairs and hallways were very dark and didn’t have railings. The AC blasted out so I had to keep turning it off and then got hot.

Terrible weekend
The rooms have no blackout so light goes in since daybreak, noisy, worn down.
Food very average.
Heard the hotel won several design awards, I’d like to walk through the premises with the judges.

Needs an Update, but good location

My adult family stayed at this hotel for 3 nights recently. Now some 8 years old, to retain it's raves reviews from hotel reviewers it does require updating. It's also very dark and the food staff not quite as efficient as it could be. It is however well located.

I love the architecture and the way that the remodeling did not take away from the beauty of this historic house. In fact, I love the contemporary art and the designer touch throughout. It feels cozy and one never feels that it's too much. This hotel is gorgeous and very comfortable. I also love the choice and quality of the breakfast items. I would definitely stay here again. Beautiful hotel, location and service.

Horrible experience, never again.

This was our first time visiting Merida & I wanted to give my parents a lovely and authentic experience so I decided to splurge on Rosas. I'm an avid business traveler and often times find boutique hotels have extra charm & attentiveness than chain hotels. I even dismissed a few of the recent negative reviews because of all the great ones & the reputation the hotel had built up in travel digests. I am completely devastated & disappointed in the quality (or lack there of) of this property. First, I was overcharged an extra $100 USD+ for a 3rd person when online the pricing is the same for 2-3 people. Get past that, the room we got had dirty floors full of feathers. The amenities suck, the staff was so indifferent both in the (dark) reception area & restaurant. Pool is dirty/cloudy giving us no desire to get in. We were incredulous @ the lack of hospitality & service. Even the \"hellos\" seemed forced. The only thing that saved the stay was on the last day @ breakfast a gentleman (who we could only assume is the owner) was so kind after noticing we had not been attended by their rude waiters, took over and took care of us even recommending their house specialties. This was kind of service & experience I'd looked forward to but unfortunately, no one else on the staff seemed to share that spirit. @ checkout they had the audacity of trying to charge me 50 pesos for a 2nd rm key we never received. At over $377 night, go elsewhere for better service @ a fraction of the cost!!

Beautiful hotel in Merida

The hotel is beautiful and exactly as pictured. Rooms is spacious and the outdoor shower was a pleasant surprise. The local street can be quiet with some limited food options (Saint Lucia Square ~10 minute walk away). I would *highly* recommend the hotel restaurant. The food was exceptional. Service was ok...not great not bad. I can’t say enough about the food and drinks though. I loved my stay and would recommend to anyone.

Amazing breakfast and staff!

We had a very pleasant stay. The rooms are very roomy and comfortable, but the best part was the beds and the linens. The a la carte breakfast was included in our room rate and it was very very good! The parking is free at the hotel, which was a bonus. I was amazed how very friendly and helpful everyone working at the hotel was. I really enjoyed my stay here!

Beautiful hotel in a great location!

We had a great stay at this hotel. We didn't have any issues while at this hotel. The room was big and very nice. The bathroom was amazing. The hotel staff was incredibly attentive, especially Karla, who helped us with several last minute requests for excursions. She never missed a beat and was super friendly. Breakfast was included and was delicious! Thank you so much!

I can't wait to stay here again. This boutique hotel was just perfect - great comfortable rooms, nice staff, amazing restaurant. Art decorates the whole place which is painted pink and just makes you smile. The spa also was very good - my husband and I both had massages and we are very particular. I loved every minute of our stay.

Paradise Found !!

Its Pink!! I chose Rosas y Zocolate to spend my BIG birthday. The hotel, restaurant and staff couldn't have been more perfect. First, the hotel: I felt we had found a hidden gem. The room was right off the pool area and was the perfect setting for a week of total relaxation. There were two us per room and the room was big enough that we each had plenty of room and personal space. The bathroom was wonderful as were the products by L'occitane that were refreshed every day. Second, the restaurant: we ate breakfast in the garden every morning. The selections were great and very delicious. The dinners we excellent, the entrees were very creative and the wine selections from Valle de Guadalupe were spectacular. The ceviche was so fresh I think I had it every time we had dinner. And third, the spa !! I have been to a lot of places that offer a spa experience but nothing compares to the 3 hour Chocolate experience at Rosas y Xocolate. It was heaven with chocolate. There are not enough words to fully describe the total package of our stay. But I think the one thing that stands out most was the staff at this hotel. Everyone was so nice, so accommodating, so extremely polite. I can't wait to visit again.

I thought this was going to be a great experience

I expected more about this hotel. The restaurant is excellent. The rooms are very nice, but the staff is not as kind as in other boutique hotels. I was expecting better ammenities in my room, but there wasn't even body lotion. I also expected details such as making our beds during our dinner or leaving a note/chocolate/detail in our beds in the afternoon, things I'm used about in other boutiques hotels, but nothing \"extra\" or \"surprising\" happened.

Beautiful hotel, good location

We enjoyed a one night stay here for our anniversary. The room was extremely clean and very pleasing. Check in was good. There was a small annoyance after we checked in someone came to the room with fruit, but they did not knock they just walked in. We ate at the restaurant, the food was very good. I am completely Gluten Free and they were able to cook for me without incident. The service was however very slow and non attentive. Our waiter would disappear for long periods of time, or he would race by without stopping as we were trying to get his attention. It was not busy so we are not sure where he was racing off too. We also had breakfast at the restaurant the next morning and the service was the same, different server, but slow, disappearing, or racing by. I have read that this is a common complaint at this restaurant, and I am confirming that it is true. The service was lacking. If steps were taken to improve the service, it would be a better dining experience. Overall we had a wonderful evening at Rosas and Xocolate. We plan to return.

Unique hotel with a very helpful staff and owner

This hotel is the quintessential boutique hotel. The owner and staff made great suggestions about places and events to visit and made necessary arrangements. At our request, they held a degustation for us of mezcals and tequilas that are unavailable in our area. There is interesting art throughout the hotel. The neighborhood is exquisite if you enjoy colonial architecture on a broad, tree lined avenue. Several museums and art galleries within walking distance. 10 minute walk to town or easy to hail a taxi in front of the hotel. The included breakfast was lavish (fresh fruit juices, fresh fruit, variety of breads, eggs to order, bacon, toast). We also had an excellent lunch and dinner at the hotel restaurant.
Perhaps our enthusiasm is best revealed by our plan to use Roses and Chocolates as the theme for the bridge party that we are hosting tomorrow night as a way of recommending both Merida and the hotel to a group of our best friends.

Only after staying there we realised that it was our best option in Merida, due to its great location (at Paseo Montejo) and fantastic service. Every breakfast was amazing and we came back in the evening to have cocktails at the terrace where a Jazz band plays every night.

Beautiful boutique hotel in a quiant city

We were enchanted by this property with it's lovely architectural design and decoration. The staff was amazing and the location was superb - along the colonial mansions of Paseo Montejo and a couple of blocks to the start of the downtown area. Room # 5 was huge which they set-up for us with a king size bed along with a twin on the side for our daughter. The bathroom was amazing with the separate outdoor tub/shower. The pool outisde our door was another plus to the interior decor. There was nice music playing throughout the hotel, but it was never too loud and we did not have any issues with being so near the reception area. I highly recommend this place and would return in a heartbeat.

This was a great location on one of the main roads...Merida is a beautiful, safe place. The people are so friendly and there is so much to see!! The rooms are decorated with great taste and the beds are super comfy! The breakfast was generous and delicious! I recommend this hotel!

A Hotel made in Heaven !!! So great taste !!!!

I don't know where to start. I am a constant traveler and I have stayed in beautiful hotels, but this Rosas & Xocolate exceded all my expectarions, the rooms, the design, the service, and the food are like made in heaven. Really I am not exagerating it was a wonderfull experience, I was there for 2 nights with my 2 kids and we all agreed that the hotel has it all, location also.

My husband and I spent 3 nights at Rosas y Xocolate and we both agree it was the one of top hotels we've ever stayed in. The staff was friendly, the hotel and rooms were GORGEOUS, the restaurant was excellent, the Spa was wonderful, and the 24-hour chocolate shop was a great perk. Highly recommended!

Best Food in City, Beautiful Hotel

We didn't know about Rosas and Xocolate, and we wandered in to the pink building with no sign, just in hope of a decent breakfast. The food was superb and the in-house made pastries and the fresh juices were fantastic. The food was so wonderful we immediately booked dinner. Luckily we were in Merida just after the high season so we got a table. Dinner was amazing as well. The wine list is mainly Mexican and South American, so we had a chance to have our first Mexican wine. The sommelier was a young man from Mexico City that helped us find a wine from Baja, Mexico that i would put up against any California wine. We ended up staying for over 3 hours, eating and drinking, every dish was superb. We didn't get a chance to meet the Chef but he is outstanding. The owner was on hand and very interested that our needs were met. We didnt stay at the hotel, but it looked beautiful and fun. We feel comfortable rating the hotel section below, because we toured the facility. We are considering a return trip to Merida just to stay there.

The Oasis in Merida

On a recent trip to the Yucatan, we stayed at this new hotel. It is a small oasis in a busy city!!! Upon finding the hot pink hotel we entered a tranquil beautifully restored place to rest. After collapsing and sleeping for 10 hours (due to an extremely comfortable bed and quite room) we were greeted with friendly staff members. Everyone was pleasant and went out of their way to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. We had dinner in the restaurant and enjoyed \"people watching and an excellent meal !!!! We look forward to going back again soon

Absolutely beautiful hotel on Paseo de Montejo. Nothing spared. Restaurant is excellent; both food and wine list. Very friendly and pleasant staff. Full service all new equipment fitness center with a personal trainer. This may be the best of Merida.

Two of us local residentsdecided to try breakfast there last week and it was excellent. It was reasonably priced, beautifully presented, and delicious. They make (boil) their own bagels, make real croissants, make tart fruit jam, and put mysterious, surprisingly wonderful things in the eggs. The dining room is comfortable and relaxed and the owner made us feel welcome. Excellent coffee. We figured out it cost about as much as Denny's or VIPs.

No ha estacionamiento como tal del hotel cerca. Visualmente está súper lindo, la suite xocolate nos tocó que la presión del agua no era buena, nos bañamos con agua fría porque no salió caliente y los lavabos del baño tenían mucho sarro en la llave entonces uno no funcionaba bien y el otro servía pero si le abrías mucho salía disparada el agua. Nos quedamos una noche pero me lo imaginaba como una experiencia más bonita.
