Casa Italia is close enough to all the main sites to visit in Merida, while being far enough away to be in a quiet neighborhood so you can rest. The staff was very friendly and helpful and we loved the private pool and courtyard for relaxation after a long day of siteseeing.

The air conditioner was musty and loud, however, the rest of the stay was pleasant. The breakfast included is continental, and decent, albeit small. The cost for the egg option is fine at 85 pesos. The keys provided for the front door were confusing (all same shape) but luckily we did not need them late at night when the hotel is apparently unattended (which seems a bit odd? what if guests have issues or an emergency?). For these reasons, I would probably not return, given the sheer volume of decent hotels for similar or lower costs currently available in central Merida.

The property is well located near the center of Merida, just a couple blocks away.
No restaurant, just a small kitchen that serves breakfast, no lunch nor dinners. Also there's no room service.
The rooms are well equipped.
It has a small pool where you can relax, closes at 21 hrs.
Overall, it's a good hotel if you want something without any noise, however, it's just a room. Don't expect nothing fancy if that's your thing.

The staff were excellent - helpful and friendly. The hotel was nice and it had a “trust bar” where customer serve themselves and record their purchase in a book to settle at checkout.

The room was clean and very spacious - but the shower was very weak and most days had no hot water.

The area was convenient but the paving was very uneven and it was very dark at night. But it was safe and quiet.

Jorge y Damián estuvieron atentos de nuestra estancia, buen servicio y amabilidad, habitación cómoda y buen desayuno. Tal cual como el nombre, realmente es una casa y son solo 6 habitaciones, se access solo por escaleras, si viajan con algún adulto mayor recomendaría pidieran planta baja.
El estacionamiento tiene puntos a mejorar como limpieza e infraestructura, se encuentra a vuelta del hotel.

Casa Italia advertises as a “Luxury Guest House” rating 4.4/5.
The walls in the room were either unfinished or damaged, the air conditioning was noisy and installed in a way that hits your face all night long, there was a noisy fan attached to the celling, the safety box did not work, the fridge was empty. Simple bathroom, no tube as one would expect form a Luxury place. No gym, no Spa. Basic TV and internet, no personalized services, or any special technology.
There is no restaurant nor room service; a basic breakfast is served by the same person who also seems to have the role of receptionist. The parking lot was around the corner, not very clean; the neighborhood looks awful at night.
As a guest you are given three keys, one for your room, and two for the facility front doors, because after nine PM there is no one available for anything, if arriving after nine PM you must open, and once inside lock the doors again.
The good thing found was the Staff, one person in particular, Robert, who went above and beyond to try to make us feel comfortable, trying to fix all those things that were obviously out of his control. The only reason we did not leave is because we saw so much effort from the staff. There are probably different definitions of Luxury Guest Houses, in my opinion this is not one and its prices are not too much different from other well know hotels around Merida Centro

Loved this little Guest House! Josephine and Damien looked after ur every need. The breakfasts were amazing! The room was great. Had nice bed, little balcony, huge TV, modern. We had the garden view room which cost a little more but worth it. Easy walk to restaurants and shopping. Highly recommended. Only one downside. I like to swim and the pool is tiny. Not for swimming. Would definately go back.

Where do I begin. The description says luxury, it’s not. The shower had mold, I’m not talking a little, I’m talking full blown mold. The A/c didn’t work, mind you it’s 90 degrees and humid. The water didn’t work after the second day. They moved us to a different property, that charged us for breakfast, even though it was included in our package. The staff was nice and tried to be helpful.

The property is small but very nice. The service is friendly and accommodating. It’s located on a street that doesn’t have much of anything but you’re a 10 minute walk from el centro or Paseo Montejo. I highly recommend the Italian restaurant Oliva which is about 10 minutes walk. Overall a nice stay here.

Tranquil stay in Merida

Delightful stay in Merida. Our room included a rooftop patio. The room also had a fridge and was spacious. The pool area is beautiful. The parking is locked at night but there was also parking on the street. This small boutique hotel is walking distance to a grand avenue and about a 25 minute walk to the center of the city. Everyone was friendly and attentive. I would recommend it!

Standing in front of the entrance of the hotel you would never imagine how beautiful it is inside. Rooms are spacious, cozy and have everything you wish for. The outside area is marvellous. One detail is that the pool is cold.
The hotel is situated 5 blocks away from the big boulevard. The neighborhood is upcoming and has many really beautiful restaurants.

Beautiful space but very poorly managed

Casa Italia Yucatan is a beautiful space. The bedrooms are very pleasant and the shared spaces, in particular the pool area, are beautiful. Unfortunately, there is little attention to detail and poor customer service, and this really lets it down.
There was no hot water in the room we booked, so we had to move to a smaller room. The manager said he'd consider a discount, but we didn't see or hear from him again. There was no toilet paper in our room, or in the toilets in the breakfast room. In our room, one of the closet handles came off in my hand, and the toilet roll dispenser was falling off the wall. The showers had a very low lip separating them from the rest of the bathroom, so every shower led to a wet bathroom floor. The person at the front desk was friendly but not helpful unless specifically asked. For example, they watched as we heaved our cases in and out, when it would have been very helpful if they had simply held the door open.
Breakfast was a big disappointment. Although the website advertised a different breakfast each day, it was actually the same - fruit, cheese and ham, and scrambled eggs and toast. Coffee was made early and not replenished so it was often cold. The last day we were there was Christmas Day, and we were told that breakfast would start at 9am rather than 7am. At 9am there was no sign of breakfast being prepared and guests were standing around waiting. Overall, this is a beautiful space that is very poorly managed.

I don’t know why the previous reviews said the staffs were friendly. I stayed for 4 nights. The staffs were not friendly at all except the manager.

The area is not very good at all; especially too dark at night. I was not comfortable going out after 6pm when it gets dark.

Only good thing was the large room and quiet.

I would NOT stay here again.

Beautiful, clean, comfortable, friendly, helpful. Fabulous authentic Yucatan breakfast each morning; I never knew there were so many ways to serve eggs, tortillas, beans and salsa. We'll be booking our next stay with Casa Italia. We walked nearly everywhere we went. Three blocks from great restaurants. 15 minutes walk from el Centro, cathedrals, parks. 20 minutes from the famous market. Uber to these locations was less than three dollars U.S.

A wonderful boutique hotel of just 6 suites. The breakfasts in the mornings are simple but delicious. Close to the Paseo de Montejo, the hotel is located in a quickly gentrifying area (which includes all the pluses and minus). The staff was great, and in response to having read other reviews about theft from their rooms, we had no such experience.

The price value relation for this hotel is fine, so 4/5. The rooms are spacious, beds good, everything clean, bathrooms modern, amenities all you need, good safe, outstanding room service. Very nice staff.

Here's where it's 3/5 or worse: it's a \"B\" location, two blocks (dark, but obviously safe) away from the Paseo Montejo. Anything closer to Santa Lucia Parque or the Cathedral are way better for dinner/bar options, sightseeing and anything else that you may want to do in Merida.

The pool is basically a big public bathtub made for Instagram. You could dip in, but not swim a meter (if you are an adult or bigger than 4 feet). Breakfast is good (exceptionally nice cook), but selection is very limited.

Being a smoker, I chose the big room with the big terrace (room 6) and still wasn't allowed to smoke on the terrace - 25sqm, no one above or besdes you. The terrace, as big as it is, features two chairs and a footstool. No table, no sunscreen, nothing else. It would easily fit two loungers, if you would want to spend an afternoon or evening reading. The best thing is that right across the street is a huge factory that makes incredible noises.

Since - for European standards - the price value relation is good, I give four stars, otherwise it would be three, and next time I would try another hotel in Merida.

The hotel is in a very convenient location walking about 15 minutes to Plaza Grande and a 45 minute drive to Progreso and Chelem. It was about 20 minutes to Dzibilchaltun.

But the best thing about the hotel is its staff! The front desk concierge Rodrigo and Viridiana were very helpful. The cigarette lighter on our rental car didn’t work (which meant our GPS couldn’t charge) so Rodrigo called Budget for us and we were able to switch cars.

Rodrigo also called T’ai Spa to make a reservation for us. However my boyfriend got a case of the “Mexico’s” and decided 30 minutes before our appointment that he just couldn’t make it. Viridiana called for us and was able to reschedule our appointment. As well, she found a place that had chicken soup and organized delivery to our room. For the next couple of mornings, the breakfast staff reheated the soup for him. Such a shame he missed out on the fabulous breakfast the last couple of days!

We would definitely stay at Casa Italia again!!

Quiet, clean, beautifully decorated, room/grounds were very comfortable, the housekeeping was great, and the complementary breakfast is really good, delicious and complete, the portions are perfect. On our first day we had noise all night from a faulty water pump, but I only mention it because they took care of it very quickly and from there our stay was great.
All the personnel are very friendly and professional but Jazmin in the front desk and Mr Gustavo at the restaurant are remarkable, they make the hotel even better.
The location is very good, right in the city centre close to Calle 47 and Paseo Montejo, both streets offer a lot of variety in restaurants, (Olivo in 47 was my favorite) the cathedral is not that far, and contrary to what other people say, the neighborhood is not sketchy, it is a classic middle working class neighborhood in the real Mexico.
I would definitely come back to this hotel and I will recommend it to my friends and family.

Wonderful, tiny boutique hotel

This micro-boutique hotel is a little slice of heaven on the edge of historic Mérida. The original building dates from the 1920s, but has been completely overhauled into a quaint spot with two plunge pools. Well-appointed with liberal use of lovely ceramic tiles. Spent five days here exploring the town and surrounding area. It is well-situated and only a $2 uber ride from the historic center. The staff is super helpful and speak Spanish and English. Inexpensive laundry service is available too. Nice made-to-order breakfast included :-)

Beware ... personal object disappeared!

We had a very unfortunate say at this hotel. The objects and clothing we left outside our bags were moved around and a personal object misteriously \"disappeared\". It is important for travellers to feel comfortable when travelling and this kind of dishonest acts should not happen. The hotel management showed very little interest and a very lacking response. We were not contacted any further and the missing object never appeared. The control of the personnel who enters the rooms should be strengthened and there should be a better response for this kind of situations. Also the hotel room was very noisy due to some kind of motor on the roof that constantly turns on and off. We returned home very disappointed and will not be recommending this hotel.

Lovely hotel.

The hotel was lovely on the inside and the staff very helpful. Be aware there is no elevator but the staff does deliver your bags to your room.
The outside of the hotel and the neighbourhood is a little scary by North American standards but we encountered no problems and it's only a 3-4 block walk to a lovely area for walking.

Difficult to find with all the one way streets but well worth the effort.Pride of ownership ,cleanliness and calming serenity of the rear courtyard all come to mind when thinking back on our stay.There are a number of restaurants.museums and attractions within a twenty minute walk.
The initial reaction when driving up to the hotel is a little alarming with all the run down buildings in the immediate area but that somehow made the hotel seem even more like a diamond in the rough.

It was my first time staying at a boutique hotel and I was pleasantly surprised. Very nice room, clean and comfortable with plenty of hot water. Just know there is no elevator so if you get the 3rd floor room, carrying a suitcase up and down 3 flights of stairs can be difficult for some.

Too noisy and breakfast so so. The hotel is very pretty and the decoration is very nice, the water from the shower went out in all the bathroom floor and my daughter had to take a shower with cold water because the hot water ran out. Children running and yelling outside our room and at 6am we woke up because of the noise of the people upstairs inflating a bike tire.

The B And B is quite small...only 6 rooms. the staff is most accommodating and the room we had (a junior suite) was very large with 2 queens and a sofa, but not quite what I consider a suite. Breakfasts were good...not large, but great egg choices. Location was fair. Energetic walk to the Main Street and a hike to the city center. For the price I would recommend it.

Great place with a family atmosphere!

Casa Italia is a great place for people who want a hotel that is very Eco-friendly, with a family style atmosphere. I have stayed in many hotels in several countries, but this is the first time I found such a unique place, making me feel more like a family member than a hotel guest. The room was spacious with high ceilings. The dining facility was small, but it served delicious food, comparable to a five star restaurant. The entire facility was very clean. My only request was to extend the hours that the pool remains open.

The tour guide they provide was great. He helped us confirm our itinerary, the places we planned to visit and recommended other options, that turned up to be wonderful. I chose for the option to pay him per day and it was well worth it.

I greatly recommend Casa Italia to couples who want to stay in a friendly but soothing place and looking for adventure in Yucatan.

I couldn't write enough accolades about the staff of this hotel. We were so well taken care of and the staff is so incredibly kind and helpful. We don't speak Spanish (our bad!), but everyone speaks very good English (even though they think they don't...if I knew that much Spanish I would think I was fluent! :) and they were able to help us with cabs, places to go, directions, you name it. And...they are on duty 24 hours a day, so any time you need something, they are there for you.

The hotel is quiet and beautiful, with an incredible outdoor space with a garden and a pool.

Excellent food service, especially at breakfast! We had breakfast in the garden every morning.

merida stay

I had a most wonderful stay at Casa Italia.
Nigelle, her sister Denise and their respective male partners were great They were their 24 hours a day. For
a non speaking spainish woman, they coudn't have been more helpful!!! The location is great for walking - in two blocks you are walking the leafy Paseo. They even had presents for me! LOVED IT!!!! Caroline White

Delightful hotel!

We enjoyed our short stay very much, the hotel is very nice design wise and the personnel is delightful. It is quiet with a lovely garden and the breakfast was delicious.some problems with hot water were solved when we were told that we had to let it run (10 minutes). The only drawback is the neighbourhood which is relatively far from the centre and lacks charm.

Although it seems that it is not in a central neighborhood, it is very near the centers of activity: A 20 min walk to the Plaza Centrale and the Cathedral, 15min from Pza Sta Lucia with restaurants. The hotel is extremely good taste, with great details everywhere, very calm, well kept and elegant. A \"must go\" in Merida. Only 6 rooms and a parking

Good Centro location

This is a nice boutique hotel in a good location a few blocks off Paseo de Montejo, the main boulevard and in walking distance to the Zocalo and several parks. We parked our rental in their small lot and walked to the places we wanted to see. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the room was spotless. We were in Merida for only about 24 hours, but enjoyed our stay at this hotel, and wish we had another night there.

We were so happy that we booked the Casa Italia Yucatan. It could not have been nicer. There meals were very good and extremely reasonable. Everything was perfect. They even managed to keep the weather good while we were there!

Attractive boutique hotel

This small hotel was comfortable and attractive. The staff were most attentive and helpful. Breakfast was delicious. The area seems a little shabby but appears safe. The off-street parking is helpful. It is about a 10 minute walk to the center of the city, and the Passeio de Montejo, a lovely old avenue, is closer.

once you enter it a whole new world opens up. the design, furnishing and quality of material used is excellent. The staff and owners were very helpful and knowledgable. We stayed 4 nights and wish we had stayed more. I will surely go back.

Very Nice hotel in Merida center

A townhouse in Merida center. We stayed there for 1 night while in Merida. The room was big and clean. The hotel looks very new but traditional. The staff was very helpful. The hotel is walking distance to all local attraction. 15-20 min walk. Easy parking in the street nearby. Very safe and secure.

Great hotel in every way!

Staff were always there when needed with a smile and kind word. Food was cooked to order and excellent! Room was large, beautifully decorated, with a modern oversized shower. Very quiet, even though in town. 2 girls traveling, felt VERY safe. This place is awesome! Will definitely stay here again! 10 star worthy!

Fantabulous (Fantastic and Fabulous combined)

While it's true we stayed some 6 months ago at Casa Italia Yucatan, we first now are writing about Casa Italia Yucatan because of wonderful memories of our stay and hope others will come to understand our enthusiasm. We compliment the expert innkeepers for their superb, well situated, well appointed, roomy (we had the top floor penthouse) and \"clean as a whistle\" Casa. We came to realize the industrial urban chic location (while hard for us at first to locate), in the heart of Merida was phenomenal once we started exploring. Casa Italia Yucatan gave us a feel of being very much at home even though we're from Long Island, NY and have never been to Merida. The in house meals served (dinner and breakfast) was excellent. That the innkeepers are very well spoken, knowledgeable about the area and very caring (so much so they even booked a horse and carriage tour for us to take)- bodes well for a long and prosperous future for Casa Italia Yucatan.

Simply the best!

Perfect Boutique Hotel - TOP

Just perfect...very clean, spacious, stylish rooms with AC, raindance shower, large private balcony and super friendly staff. Breakfast is \"on demand\" eggs, pancakes, fruits, tacos...everything.
Location is 15min walking distance from city center (parque plaza grande) but nice restaurants, ice cream shop :-) 2min away.
Free Wifi in the rooms (and lobby).
Car can easily parked around the corner on the street.
If you trave with a child go to the Zoo...nice playground (bit old fashioned) and surprisingly great zoo with happy animals (for free).

Great modern hotel

We had a great stay, the personnel was so friendly and dedicated time to guide us through our visit to Merida, we met the owners and they were very nice. The waiter was a sweetheart!
The only problem I saw was the waiting for the breakfast, the last day it took almost 35 min to get it. Other than that no complains.
I def will return!

Classy boutique hotel

I highly recommend Casa Italia. It is a boutique hotel and the owners are actively involved with its management. It's only been open a few months and they've built the most charming oasis in what can sometimes feel like a chaotic city. The room was brand new and very clean. We had a wonderful time exploring Merida and would stay here again. Thank you!
