The hotel itself was comfortable and clean. But we were told breakfast was included in our reservation and that is why we chose to eat it and when we left, we were hit with a large bill for breakfast and told that it was not included. It wasn’t worth the price of breakfast, we would not have had it if we had not been told it was included in our stay. Rooms did not have any fridges or coffee. We also recharged with extra city tax when we checked out.

The spot was good if you needed something close to the airport, rooms were clean and staff were friendly. Great for kids as there is an indoor playground behind. The only downside which is minor is no fridge, we had medicine which needed to be refrigerated, they were able to put it in the fridge in the kitchen.

Likes- comfortable king bed (2 twins put together), kind staff, good shower pressure, airport shuttle, geocery and bus stop 8 min walk.
Dislikes- no self service laundry as listed on expedia, first room had broken air conditioner and mosquitoes (we think were coming in from the air conditioner) and my daughter had about 20 bug bites on face and body when we woke up at 3am hot. The staff was kind and moved us to a new room. sofa bed is too hard to sleep on but the staff brought a rollaway bed that was a bit better.

The front desk lady was very condescending and not pleasant. Room was sweltering…unable to adjust the temp. Left the windows open and got blasted by plane traffic. Skip breakfast…21 Euros for cold eggs, undercooked bacon and no gluten free options.

The only positive was the restaurant service, staff, and food. Excellent!

Quaint area.

This was an excellent hotel. Staff were helpful, and the room was spacious and clean.

The only disappointment was on Expedia it’s advertised as having laundry facilities, but it does not. Nor are there any laundromats nearby. ( only drop off/ pick up laundry, but that isn’t close)

Overall the hotel was fine. A little difficult to get there at night because of some road work but nothing too bad. They offer free access asking which is a plus. Once inside the staff was really friendly.
The first problem I encounter was that in order to get to my assigned room I had to go through a small hall and go down a couple stairs into the restaurant they have inside, then open a door that led to some small spiral stairs and go up with all my luggage. I was afraid to trip an fall so I had to do two trips up and down to get all my stuff in the room. Once I was finally there I decided to take a bath, which was one of the reasons why I chose this hotel, because they had a bathtub, and to my horror… they didn’t have hot water!!! This is 11pm at 1C. I was really frustrated and went downstairs to talk to the front desk person and the man that was there didn’t really speak English and all he could said was that they had a problem with the pipe so no hot water. I was really disappointed and frustrated ( and very cold after my quick cold shower)
If it wasn’t for those reasons I would stay there again since is really close to the airport yet pretty quiet around the area.

The front desk was helpful to help with plane seating for our return trip. But the breakfast cook came into our room and stole a watch from a desktop. She ignored our DO NOT DISTURB sign and used her passkey to come in and \"inspect\" our fridge WHILE WE WERE ASLEEP, and after that, the watch was gone. Lydia, the cook from Croatia, is a thiefr and is rude to customers. They need to firer her. It makes us not want ever come back. Also I was charged extra money on my credit card by Ismail the driver, so because of this, i froze my account. Amsterdam is a den of thieves and ripoffs, don't go there. Save money. Also the Dam is all screwed up by construction -- a giant hole in the ground, next to the central station. So i will never go there again. Shuttle never came to pick us up at the airport. We had to pay a taxi. Shame on them.

Hotel Chariot is a jewel In the heart of flower marketers a few miles from AMS airport. It is in a beautiful village setting. The Chariot has a wonderful restaurant and bar. The staff is absolutely wonderful, friendly and fun. The rooms a terrific plenty of space. I have visited this hotel over the past 15 years as my end of Europe visit. For me it is a place to relax, enjoy a terrific meal for breakfast, lunch and dinner, chat with the staff and prepare for my flight home. I have returned many time, I will return in the future and I recommend this to anyone who wants a last night in Holland to be relaxing. Hotel Chariot is timeless in terms of service and wonderful people ... I will be back .. thank you... P.S. I believe that they may still have a shuttle to the airport as they did in years past .. Enjoy ...missing you already .. Peter

My partner and I regularly get early morning flights from Amsterdam Airport and use hotels nearby. Our usual hotel was fully booked so we tried the Chariot.
Our normal trips involve us getting a shuttle from the train station to the airport. So when we booked we checked this hotel also had the same service which it did. However it did not make it clear there was a €22 charge for this.
On arrival we went to the shuttle bus collection point, could not see the Chariot so we called. Was told to go upstairs and stand by Departure 3 exit E. We made our way and was passed through to the driver who confirmed this.
After waiting the advised twenty minutes and still waiting we called. We were told “you are not looking hard enough” and to “look harder”. Very rude in my opinion. He recapped the steps 3 more times “stand E, you know A, B, C, D, E...E for Echo”. After looking and looking we found him at stand A. He tried to say that was E, and did not apologise once. Not good service.
We got to the hotel for the lady at reception to be on the phone to another hotel booking a room. She was rude and abrupt to this person meanwhile we stood there not being acknowledge or spoken to. After 5 minutes she said she won’t be long. We waited a further 5 minutes listening to this rude call. It was very awkward and embarrassing to hear.
I regret booking the hotel chariot.

Nice room. Large bed, even if it was two single matresses.
Noise from outside was bearable but planes in the morning can be heard and are slightly disturbing. As is the noise outside the door in the morning of the cleaning staff.
lack of milk for tea and coffee was annoying.
Check in was very basic, no real welcome from staff. Same with check out.
Not a bad place but for the price and the rating you expect more.

Dusty and hidden fee

We really wanted to like the place but the receptionist left a bad taste in our mouths after she used her 10 years of experience working there as a way to sympathize(?) with us about our request to have the room dusted, and a clear explanation on the hidden fee for the airport shuttle which was a separate company. One of the individuals from the shuttle service even remarked on the receptionists incompetence when he told us he had been waiting at one level and we at another because the receptionist was not understanding that the 1st level to them in Europe is the second level to us in the US.
When we asked if we could get a shuttle pickup after we were unable to get an Uber after dinner the same receptionist told us we the shuttle was for airport pickup and drop off only and then a fellow patron got ahold of the owner of the shuttle service and had them come out and get us! It was really bizarre luck but either way it would’ve been nice if we had been given the full scope of what I’m paying for beforehand and had a clean room and not one where you can see little dust floaties flying around everywhere

a plane spotters paradise....

Good hotel for the price and proximity of airport - though not so good to get to my office in schiphol rijk. Plane spotters would love the fact that its near the end of one of schiphol's runways (though they rotate use so as not to disturb residential areas) - so it was not an issue late evening or early morning. The hotel room was very clean and comfortable and the front of house reception was very friendly. If you are looking to get into the city center then be aware is quite a trek.

Only criticism is their shuttle service. Would have been better if they provided more information since their hotel is not one of the common ones and you have to have the hotel number handy to call.
In addition, it's not a hotel van that picks up so you have no idea what to be looking for.
It also does not pick up at usual hotel pick-up location. In all, waited almost an hour for pick-up.
They provide only one shuttle service and you have to pay 20 euros for the 2nd shuttle, another surprise. So you need to add 20 euros to the overall cost of the hotel.

The Chariot is a great budget option for staying near schiphol airport (Amsterdam). But be aware of one thing. The hotel is located very close to the airport but it is impossible to access via walking or public transport. This means relying on their shuttle or very pricey cabs. They hotel offers a complimentary one way shuttle from the airport, but then all other rides are 20 Euros round trip (which means 20 Euros to get back to the airport). So if you are staying over to catch a connection the next day (as I was) you need to add another 20 euros to the cost of the hotel. And if you plan to head into town, you will need to catch an additional shuttle to and from the airport and catch the train there, so another 20 euros for the round trip shuttle plus 10 euros round trip for the train. This was an additional 40 euros in costs, which was about 60% of the cost of the room. Not unreasonable, but something to be aware of. Hotel is lovely. Staff was great. 15 euro breakfast was great.

The staff is friendly. food is good, service is great. I asked for a carafe of wine and immediately given at 1 am. The shuttle driver brought a cup of coffee to me and took care of my luggage. The shuttle was in time.

Very rude staff who seemed to only want my money, but not want to provide service. The hotel is far from public transport (more than 1 hour to reach Amsterdam Central). The \"king\" size bed was actually two doubles pushed together. Horrible experience, would not recommend. Wish I could get my money back!

Disappointing.

We booked a junior suite, but there was nothing different about it from the regular rooms. It was advertised that there was free airport shuttle pick-up, but when we inquired with the hotel, we were told it was 20 euros. The hotel lacked basic amenities like a luggage cart. The hotel is very close to the airport, but the way the highways are set up, it takes 20 minutes to get to the airport. You are better off staying in the center of Amsterdam and taking the train directly to the airport.

Although the hotel was comfortable, the staff was not. I was supposed to be picked up for free at the airport. I don't have an international plan so i couldn't call them. I emailed them several times and never received a response. I assumed they just don't email back confirmations. But no they never checked their correspondence. So i got stuck requesting an uber. Paid close to 40 Euros. So i ask the man at the desk if i could still have my free ride since they failed to check their messages and he flat out said no, that they only pick up for free, not drop off. Not willing to budge, not willing to own up to their mistake, simply said \"sorry you should've called.\" Not very customer service oriented. Als, the girls at the restaurant were more interested in their phones than providing service. In the end, i wish I'd stayed elsewhere. It was a comfy place but too far from everything and not very friendly.

Beautiful small hotel

I stopped here when I had a long layover at Schipol and the nearer airport hotels were all booked. I'm so glad I chosen Hotel Chariot, however--a lovely little boutique hotel in a quiet residential neighbor with its own airport shuttle. The rooms was spacious and well-appointed, the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast in the morning was excellent. I would definitely come back for more than simply a one-night airport layover.

The hotel was clean and cozy, we did not encounter any problems during our stay apart form the shuttle service which was really inconvenient. The reason we chose the hotel was because it was close to the airport and the had a shuttle service between the hotel and the airport from which we where taking the train to go to city center. But this turned out to be a pain. On the hotel website it says that there are shuttles between the hotel and airport with a surcharge. When we arrived at the Amsterdam airport Friday evening we called the hotel number many times to request a pick up and there was no answer. So we had to take a cab which costed £35. At the hotel they gave us a different number to call whenever we need the shuttle again, and they said it only takes ten minutes to be there. But this was never the case; each time we called we waited for a minimum of half an hour, worst of which was outside the airport in the cold, and each time we called to follow up they say give us another ten minutes.I think the hotel needs to improve its service with regard if shuttle services otherwise I would not recommend a stay over there to anyone going on holiday.

Upcharged us when they had oversold!

Lovely hotel but when we checked in they said they were overbooked and couldn't give us the room or rate we had booked through Expedia. As would be expected - they moved us up to a slightly better room BUT they charged us more for it. Didn't think they could do that but didn't want to make a scene. We questioned it but they did not refund us.

Trip to Holland

It was a nice hotel. Messed up our reservation but they were quick to fix it. Restaurant is a bit pricey. The buffet breakfast was expensive and the food was so-so.

Ok but nothing stands out.

Stayed for one night with my family (2 children and partner) in a family room on the way back towards the UK from Germany. The room seemed small compared to others we'd stayed in with the same expectations. All seemed a little warn and tired. You could hear airplanes and people outside the hotel in the night, nothing unusual but not great either. Plus there was tax extra even thought the figure we paid said it was all included.

Lovely stay

The hotel is situated about 45minutes away from the centre but very easy to get to via bus! The area has great views and overall a quiet and cosy stay.

Good food in the restaurant, service with a smile

clean spacious rooms, shame that the showers leaked in all three bedroom we had
a little noisy in early morning due to proximity to airport

A bit far from Central Amsterdam

The hotel it self was clean and tidy, most of the staff were very nice, but the ones on reception were a tad miserable.

Location wasn't the best €40 taxi from airport, however it took a 40 minute bus journey and then a 15 minute tram journey to get to central Amsterdam, so if you want a hotel near to the main area, this is not one for you.

On the whole a nice clean hotel.

great hotel with top reataurant

great hotel close to Schiphol Airport ,free parking (also for park and fly if you are going on holiday) free wifi and excellent restaurant (breakfast was a bit too expensive at 15 euros ) but the evening menu was exceptional

Exquisit Hotel, exceptional dining....

Hotel far exceeded our expectation. Rooms were very comfortable. Best Hotel during our 10 day trip to Europe.
The food in the restaurant was exquisite, the staff was exceptional, the rooms were very clean, comfortable and cozy.
Would highly recommend staying at this facility to all our friends.

Nice hotel just far out from the city

We had a lovely stay. staff very helpful. Only down side was it was 2 bus ride from the city but once we got the hang of the bus routes it was fine

Great base for Aalsmeer and Amsterdam

Great hotel and excellent food. Bit noisy as it is on the flight path but you get used to that. Don't miss cycling around the Bos - the National Forest and only 4K from Amsterdam If you want to cycle in. The Windmill at Aalsmeer is also well worth a visit.
