If location is everything, this hotel has already won—then it goes on to impress even more. The rooftop terrace offers terrific views to Zocalo plaza, President's Palace and Metropolitan Cathedral, the staff are gracious (and thankfully English-speaking), and the rooms are generously sized. Elegant interiors and a striking Tiffany-style ceiling add real character. Highly recommended — no hesitation.

Not only the hotel is beautiful during day time but room I got had the best view in Centro. Loved my 9 days stay at this iconic hotel where James Bond Movie Spectre was filmed. They even have a very comfy and nice lounge guest can use and hangout 24/7 and you can grab soda and sparkling water from the fridge inside the lounge and take it to your room. Even after checking out they gave me an access card to the lounge to use until I actually depart for airport. Staff were all excellent. Don't make a same mistake as I did, as I went up to the restaurant at the terrace 40 minutes before the checkout for the very first time even though I stayed for 9 days. Only thing I wish my room had was a soaking tub. Also I wished the foods inside the lounge were covered and also with a notes saying what time the food was prepared. I didn't eat any food other than small cookies in the lounge as I didn't feel good about food that sits there in open without no idea of how long the food has been there. Other than this, everything about this hotel was perfect.

The breakfast buffet was a huge let down. Over 30 minutes standing in line for an omelette. Skip the buffet, order à la carte unless you are a glutton.

We were three women on our own. Alejandro, the doorman was amazing. He learned all three of our names and used them correctly whenever he saw us. He was extremely polite and helpful. Always asked permission before entering our rooms to help with something. Alejandro is a huge asset to this beautiful hotel. Another wonderful perk: we were given a separate key for a nice lounge with food and bathrooms before our rooms were ready and after checkout for us to have a place to use as needed all day. Very nice! Wish all hotels offered this! Have stayed here msny times over thr years and will continue to do so!

Very luxurious, spacious, and beautiful views with easy access to shops, restaurants, and historical sites to visit. Gorgeous (especially the unbelievable stained glass ceiling) and well-maintained. Fresh flowers, good elevators, fancy, and plenty of convenient items in the bathroom just in case. It was literally a sweet surprise to find a plate with gourmet chocolate treats to welcome us with our last name written in chocolate on the plate. We didn't try the food (too expensive). But the canopy bed with curtains was the most charming of all. It helped to have a safe for belongings and plenty of hangers in the closet. The shower was totally impressive and wonderful as well as the unique sinks. Electrically operated blackout shades were helpful, too. Staff was very polite, helpful, and dressed very professionally. I felt so spoiled staying here!

If you want a cool lobby, book here. Staff is great and it's definitely a fancy place. I don't think for what you pay, the value is not great. Nothing is included, not even breakfast. No amenities, the snack bar is lacking and there is no bar. This is a cool place to stay for a night, but I would've booked elsewhere for a longer stay next time.

My partner and I stayed here for a week and had a lovely suite. The location is great - we were walking distance from so many museums and galleries. The Zocalo was always busy with activity and things to do and see.
The only issues are that the area is very loud. Lots of people yelling and selling and playing music during the day and evening. It was quiet at night though, so it was not difficult to sleep. Having an afternoon nap or rest was not the best though.
There is very little in the way of amenities. No pool, sauna/spa, or shops inside the hotel. Just really nice rooms, a quiet common area with some snacks, and a great location.

I spent the final night of a 12-night trip to Mexico City and San Miguel de Allende at the Gran Hotel Ciudad de Mexico, located in the Historic Center with a fantastic view of the Zocalo from the rooftop restaurant. The room was very comfortable, the staff was excellent, and the food, including the buffet breakfast, was good. I recommend a stay here.

I will openly admit I chose this hotel purely based on its location, and for the fact that it was in James Bond’s Spectre. It was my first time in Mexico City so I wanted a hotel that was in the historical centre. I literally cannot say enough about the hotel. The room was beautiful (I had a junior suite) overlooking the Zocalo—clean, comfy bed, nice bath amenities, etc. The hotel itself is an icon from another era, with one of four of the largest glass ceilings in the world—absolutely stunning. The rooftop restaurant has spectacular views and a lovely buffet breakfast.

Adrian checked me in and was so helpful in booking a tour and offering any help to make my stay the best. Mario, Miguel, and Alejandro were always at the front door ensuring I had my rides in the old elevator (it’s beautiful), and Miguel even walked me 10 minutes to my taxi pick up one morning when the streets were blocked off. It was truly a pleasure to have stayed at this icon of a hotel in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

The Gran Hotel is absolutely gorgeous and there is no better view from the Rooftop Restaurant. Yeal and Emmanuel helped us immensely during our stay and even with catching an Uber to go back to the airport. It is in a great location to Constitution Plaza, we even got to see the President of Mexico and the Military parade. Lots of shopping and restaurants in the area. Will stay there again.

We arrived VERY late at night; and found it a little difficult to locate the entrance doors to the hotel. The entrance needs to be better lite and have lighted street level signage for the overnight hours when there is no doorman. That being said, we would most definitely recommend this hotel; and will book it again when we return to Mexico City.
