It was such a horrible hostel experience, the bed was dirty and looked like someone had just checkout , they didn’t change the bed sheet from the previous guest, its was disgusted , I found hair and dirt on bed, I had to put a towel and paper underneath for me to lay down, and they price was overpriced for $45 a night at this unhygienic place. I do not recommend this place unless you just need a place to shower after hiking. Pay more and go find a hotel. The most disappointing hostel experience and wasted of money

Friendly staff, great location. Very noisy rooms caused by the stupid blinds on the pods that are impossible to get up and down quietly. So any time anyone moved it was incredibly noisy and impossible to sleep in that environment. The pods were hard to get in and out of.

Room was incredibly small, but ok. Shower in our room was broken on arrival, receptionist said they are fully bookend and can't give us another room, but they will move us the next day. They actually fixed the shower next day, but the drain was clogged, so the shower was pretty much unusable on both days of our stay. One would wonder whether they actually clean the bathroom that they weren't aware of those defects, or they just don't care about the property condition. Hotel description says parking available, although there is no parking. Just public paid parking around, which is limited.
Common area and bar were pretty good. Overall, overpriced for what it delivers.

2 out of 10, would not recommend or stay again.

We stayed in an ensuited double room, which was small but neat and clean and had everything we needed. The kitchen was well equipped (though cutlery was a bit scarce!) and generally clean. Staff were friendly and location was good. Would definitely stay here again.

The units are all pretty close together, so any noise from neighbors is amplified, but mostly quieted down by 11pm.

Great vibe and helpful staff for the most part. Gave my rating because the showers were not hot for the 3 days we stayed there. Speaking to the front desk staff, the problem was supposed to be solved each day...but it was not. Also some health and safety concerns with the place as there was active trade work going on during out stay.

First time pod resident here. Much better than I expected. Very friendly staff, clean pods. Very spacious compared to the videos I have seen of other Japan style small pods. Clean beds and honestly great experience. The lockers under fit those massive 32kg travel bags and you ll still have a bit more room for a couple of shoe pairs. The best thing here is the location. Close to market. Fergburger etc. It's basically the town centre's centre.

Tip (you can park across the road from 6pm to 8am for free and it's $3.5 an hour after/before that. If you plan to go to the gondola and luge leave your car here. You ll need 3 hours. That includes three luge rides and go early.

Also the parking Is better than the one near the gondola parking which is apparently more expensive.

Why didn't I do 5 stars? ( I was a bit uncomfortable to unpack and pack my bags with other people present even when they were in their pods with curtains shut. I just hope there are clear rules (verbal) by the staff upon check in to inform others when they can make noise and when they can not. Example: I woke up at 9am and it seems everyone else was asleep still so I was very careful when packing away cause I was checking out at 10am. It was just awkward I am sure you know what I mean. But overall 8.5/10.

The checkin was so late in the afternoon - 3pm. Yet we observed the cleaners came in soon after 10am. daily.
The room was so cramp it was ridiculous. And yet the bed was oversized. the large tv looked impressive but it could at best only pick up 3 channels during the four days and none included the norm tv One or tv Two. The bathroom lacked shelving or cupboards except for a tine shelf. The noise level meant little or no sound proofing and the cold airconditioning could not be adjusted.. We had to turn on the heater for hours in the middle of summer.

Stayed in a female pod room. Horrified of the cleanliness when I walked in. Mud and twigs on the ground. Luggage all over the common area to walk blocking the ladder. Towels, underwear hanging on the ladder to get onto my room. Very disgusted bathrooms! POD mates were not considerate with noise.

The lockers in the rooms don’t work as per instruction. You will need to have staff assist.

Overall not worth the money paid to stay here. Very disappointed or the lack of cleanliness.

8-person female room was cozy and comfortable. Appreciated the lockers under the bed and spacing of the bed itself.

Room could have benefited from daily vacuuming or carpet roller as it fills with hair and lint throughout the stay... But this is minor.

I really liked staying here and I would absolutely recommend people to stay here. It was very quiet even in the rooms and within the pods they have this nice curtain to provide ultimate privacy that u can pull down.
They have outlets within the pods and provided me another blanket as I run cold.
In terms of beach access, there isn’t one nearby so can’t really say yay for that, but everywhere in the town is walkabale and this spot is very well positioned.

They provided me with a parking spot in the parkade (I had to pay 30 nzd/ 24 hours but had a rental car so didn’t want to risk other spots, plus I thought that was a really good deal considering).

The staff were super nice and incredibly helpful with recommendations.

Kitchen area was great! Had all the instruments and appliances!!! Even had a great fridge space for everyone to put their fridge items (even had baskets to separate).

All in all a great stop!!!

stayed over the Queenstown Marathon Weekend, and it was perfect!
We stayed in a family room which was the perfect sized room for 3 friends, our room overlooked the Gondola and the park.
Room was spotless, bed was super comfy.
the only thing i would have to say is that the water pressure in the shower isn't the best, but nothing to complain about.
the location is perfect too, a quick 5 minute walk to the waterfront, 1 minute walk to the supermarket, everything is in a handy location without having to walk up any steep hills.

Staff were all super friendly, the front desk team were super helpful with giving reccomendation on what to do, although we already had our itinerary sorted, they were there if you needed any help (im so sorry i forgot specific names).

overall, would definetly stay again, although there is no carpark onsite there are heaps of carparking options around town.

It was right it the city center, everything was walkable. Bus stop was 4 minute walk away and went straight to the airport. Lylo was very clean and the staff are very helpful and it has a roof top bar. Would recommend and would definitely stay again.

A pretty cool place that’s like an upscale-ish backpackers hostel. Best thing is it’s location which is right smack in the main centre! Only downside is parking—you either book their parking for a fee, or park in the paid public parking right across the hostel. Not a problem overnight coz free parking from 6am-8am. Also, the only heating available are oil heaters, which unfortunately isn’t quite enough. But overall, a great accessible and convenient place.

The room was very small. the kitchen is of course shared which is fine, but people would take some of the utensils and dishes and there wasn't enough sometimes. The fridge was not as well organized as some of the other places. I would probably choose a different place next time but I am older and this is more suitable for younger crowd, and I get that.

Great experience start to finish. Warm welcome from reception, the pod beds are ideal for privacy and provide a light and fan which is great. Kitchen was being moved to upstairs which will make it ideal with the social/dining area, that would be my only issue as it was then. But location perfect, car park right next door for about £3 hour 8-6pm

This is the best hostel I stayed at during my entire trip around the South Island and North Island!!! Having a pod with a full privacy screen felt like my own little space. I crawled out of my pod one morning to hear someone snoring and realized I couldn't hear that or anything else while inside my pod!! I stayed here 4 nights and would gladly return! Showers are hot and large space/hooks to put belongings on! Staff was friendly. Laundry is great priced and dryer worked great!

When I arrived I checked in on the tablet in the lobby and went to my assigned room where I found there was already someone in my bunk. That person and I went to the lobby to figure out the problem. The person working was at a 1/10 on giving a crap about it. Finally, once it was sorted out I found that the plugin for electricity in my bunk didn't work. The bathroom was absolutely disgusting, not clean at all. The room was very hot, it didn't seem to be temperature controlled.

Great location, iffy quality facilities. This property was very mid for me, I felt like it focused more on feeling trendy than providing quality spaces. The Pods in concept are great, but the pulley/ window shade bed situation doesn't really work and is hard to use. The white plastic lets light through from other pods at night, and they are a little creeky. That said, the location is absolutely fantastic! the staff were helpful, and I had a totally fine stay here.

It’s got a great location for access to Queenstown and is a good option if you’re adventuring on a budget. We stayed in a queen room and it was small, but clean and comfortable. Walls are thin. If you’re looking for a hostel, this is great, kitchen set up looked useful. If you’re looking more for a hotel, this is not really set up for you.

I had planned to stay just about 3 weeks but after 5 days I cancelled the rest because I did not like it here. I have never been so cold in my life and I live Canadian winter every year. I asked the staff twice if they could adjust the temperature and was told that the whole floor was on the same thermostat so they could not because people preferred to sleep being cold rather than warm. I agree… to a certain extent. My teeth were clattering, I had to wear everything I owned to get through the night. Other than that, the staff was super friendly and helpful from check in to check out. The kitchen was tiny and not very clean, nowhere to sit on that floor except 2 tiny tables outside, I suspect it maybe had something to do with wanting people to go up to the roof restaurant. The bathrooms were ok but not the cleanest I’ve seen but not the worst either. People were respectful of noise mostly and the pods have power outlets and lights each which was convenient.

Great location in Qtown. Vibe was very 18-30 yo single traveler. Music was a little loud in the bar/common area. No seating in the shared kitchen made meal times more challenging for our family group with a 6 month old infant.

Rooms were clean and well organised, but very small. Bathrooms in the room were excellent.

But thin walls with awkward neighbor noise as well as weird electrical or plumbing whirring in walls. And kitchen smells from 1st floor permeated entire building including my 3rd floor room!

Lylo Queenstown was a fine hotel in a really good location in Queenstown. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel cleanliness was good. Just one thing to note that we didn't realize: this is a hostel or shared room hotel that has some regular rooms. I wasn't expecting that. Thus, laundry was stressful at times and the smells from the kitchen were bad at times. We also dod not have a hot pot in the room and couldn't make coffee there like you would in a normal hotel. However, we did not experience any issues.

we expected a studio room with a window, kitchenette and a carpark. we got a box for a room that only fitted a bed that you couldnt walk around, no window and a gap of approx 800 mm between bed and wall, no room for a even a chair, also no carpark was available. as this was the only night in queenstown we felt sick and extremely dissapointed . we couldnt upgrade nor get our money back. we walked out, forfeited our money and booked another lovely room up the road for the same price.
