The property was perfect for us. The town centre was a 2 minute walk away. The room was spacious and clean. Extra towels & essentials were given to us when we asked for free. Staff were lovely and the surrounds were quiet at night as it is set off the road in a quiet street. We will definitely be back to stay again.

The location of St. James Apartments is excellent. On the map it looks like you have a walk to get to the heart of town but in reality there are gates onto Camp St. which means you are right there. It is also right next to the Queenstown gardens and lovely walks. And the views from at least some of the rooms are wonderful. Close to bus lines and grocery shops. I can’t wait to return.

The location was excellent - very close to all of the town facilities and the lake.
The room was very large.
Some of the decor was very tired, including stained here and there.
There is parking onsite but much of the parking has very low headroom and could not fit the rental car into the space so had to park elsewhere.
Limited access to staff, although phone connection available when they weren't at the desk.

Fantastic location a short, flat stroll into the centre of Queenstown. The apartment had everything we needed. The two bedrooms were on different floors which suited us with older children but might not suit families with younger children. It would be a great townhouse for two couples as each floor had everything you needed with downstairs having a 2nd loungeroom and small kitchenette. Would definitely stay again as it's such a convenient location.

We needed a location that was quick access to the airport for an early morning flight. This location worked just fine. It is located next to a police station and the alarms went off during the night (a little disrupting). We did enjoy the heated floors in the bathroom and the mini kitchenette. We were disappointed that the elevator wasn't working as we had 3 heavy suitcases. The parking is under the building (first come-first serve). It is tight but available. Overall, we would recommend this location.

My only negatives would be that inside could use with a revamp and mattresses need to be replaced however would definitely come stay their again. Staff are very friendly and property outside is really well

You can hear everything in the hallway. Peoples conversations, elevator, people climbing stairs and walking along the hall. No views but it's a two minute walk to the lake. Mould in the bathroom. Furniture Dated.
Not the most friendly staff. Felt I was getting yelled at when I tried to check in early.

Amazing location. Cosy room. Nice layout. Comfortable Bed. Room was easy to heat/cool.

The tub was nice and deep, a very nice treat after walking.

The rooms are not cleaned properly, hair and food waste on the dinner chair, black unknown stuff spotted on the master room bedsheet, this is so far the worst hotel experience during our family trip all over the world. Especially would like to highlight the arrogant attitude and black face given by the front desk staff on the day we checked out on 3rd July. She rejected to keep the promise of yesterday’s staff promised to let us park until 12:30pm, tried to blame the staff not checking clearly. The reason why we cannot park was because they would have wedding guests to use the car park on the day. But why the hotel customers need to bear the responsibility of mistake made by the staff? Wondering how the hotel management train their employees.

An important thing to be aware of this these units are individually owned and centrally managed. That means, if there is an issue with your unit and you need to move rooms, you will have to pay extra if the only rooms available are more expensive. We were the Executive Studio, and it was right by the stairwell and elevator. Every time someone used the stairs, the wall shook and the doors banged. Every time someone used the elevator, the loud humming noise filled the room. When I asked to be moved, I was told I would have to pay extra as only bigger/more expensive rooms were available. I was also told I should’ve called and said I was a light sleeper so they could’ve helped me select a room. Never in my life have I called a hotel specifically asking for a room that is quiet enough to sleep in, nor did I know the room location in the building prior to booking. My husband, who is a very heavy sleeper, had a terrible nights sleep, too. The next day we were able to be moved into a comparable room, and the rest of the stay was uneventful apart from some issues with the Wifi.

The location is good. The rooms were comfortable and a good size. There is free parking which is a bonus as parking in Queenstown is expensive and difficult. I would recommend checking where the room is located in relation to the stairwell and elevator to avoid the issues we had.

This apartment is huge. Plenty of room for 3 people & stuff. Location is fantastic! Go down private walkway & you are right in the center of the restaurant area. Clean, comfortable. Note that desk is open only 8 hours but were very cooperative for our late checkin. Furnishings are clean but dated but with this location I don’t care.

The place is not the newest but the location is unbeatable! You can walk to town easily, 3 min walk and you’re at the lake. We stayed at the one bedroom suite, it’s really spacious for our family of 3. The only downside is the internet is soooo slow that basically any webpage cannot be opened every night between 8pm till midnight. We have to turn off WiFi on our phone and use our own internet data during our stay. During the day the speed is also really slow, but at least you can open a webpage.

Great location and had room 307 which was a great room for a family of 5. Beware that the room had steep stairs inside which was a bit scary having a 22 month old with us, had to make sure she kept away from them. Would be great for a family with older kids or a group of friends. There is also an unusual smell in the reception, lift and hallway on the second floor. It put me off at first, and I started to look for alternative accom but there was no smell in our apartment so we got over it. The room had everything you’d need, home away from home. The beds were really comfy. The hallway feels like a school dorm and also feels like could’ve been an old church. Parking was great, we had no problem getting a park for the three days we were there. The reception staff was really helpful and the cleaning staff were really lovely. The best part was town was right outside the back gate, it was so nice to be able to walk to eat and explore. A great stay.

Great location! The property is right in town and is a perfect location. The grounds are lovely.

The unit had a great setup for us and worked well. Very roomy.

The property is definitely dated. It was clean but old.
They use air fresheners in the hall that are heavily scented and made walking down the main hallway awful.
The plugs in the bathroom need to be updated to allow for blowdryers, etc to be plugged in. The blowdryer in the bathroom did not work.

Overall it was a great place to stay and the staff are very responsive. It's not luxury, but was comfortable and very roomy.

While the interior of my unit was a slightly dated (mainly the bathroom), the actual apartment is spacious, clean and the location is SUPERB. It is literally a couple of minutes walk via the gated path and you are on the Queenstown waterfront area for view and dining options. Parking onsite is usually available and included in the price. Overall highly recommended!

Generally great except one very important problem

Good central location so very convenient. Clean and tidy. Stayed at a renovated superior one bedroom apartment. The only negative side is the water pressure - the pressure is okay if you want a cold shower but that is not an option in the middle of winter. As soon as hot water is added, the showerhead becomes a weak spray (this part hasn't been updated probably from the 80s) - so weak that you cannot be sure if the soap and shampoo are washed off properly. For this reason, we will not be staying here again.

The location of this property is superb. A private pathway takes you straight to Queenstown central. There are undercover parks for vehicles, which (I imagine) would be great for those frosty Queenstown mornings.
However, the things that you need most when travelling - good Wifi, good shower and a good bed were lacking. The Wifi was TERRIBLE - it was impossible to rely on it for longer than a few seconds at a time. We couldn't scroll social media, let alone video chat with family, stream videos or heaven forbid, do any work.
The shower was abysmal - a trickle of water meaning you have to choose between hot and dribbling, or cool and enough pressure to get the shampoo out of your hair :-(

We stayed in an executive 1 bedroom apartment on the second floor. The location truly is great and the apartment itself made for a very comfortable stay for 2 adults and a 6yo. Very spacious rooms and quality furnishings, plus great storage in the master for luggage. Comfy beds and quality bedding. Effective heating but noticed no air con (not that we needed it). Good view of the mountains and gondola. We started most of our days with a short walk to the playground and coffee from the cafe on the lake front. A little attention to detail would make this a 5 star review. Walls and doors need a good clean to remove marks and fingerprints. It was really awkward preparing meals due to lack of basic bowls, limited cutlery and blunt knives. However with a location like this you should probably plan to enjoy all the eateries as you are spoilt for choice. Lounge tv was fuzzy but bedroom tv was fine. Wifi kept dropping out. However many people could look past most of these and still have an enjoyable stay - we just made do. Didn’t notice any smells mentioned from other reviews. Parking was tricky to get if you arrived back late in the evening but we only had to park on the street once overnight.

The apartment was spacious and comfortable with everything we needed and was so close to the shops and lake. The only downside was the apartment we were in had an adjoining door to the apartment upstairs and the noise travelled down the stairs. Both occupants of upstairs were very noisy with loud music. I would stay there again but request an apartment without adjoining doors.

The location of the apartment was great! Quiet and peaceful, and it was in the town area. No need to battle uphill walk and it made it easy for us. Not too crazy about 2 bedrooms being downstairs and living room and kitchen upstairs. However there was a bedroom upstairs which was good.

Would recommend providing liquid body soap and shampoo in dispensers. Those little bars of soap and packets of shampoo just didn't cut it. Also to inform customers about extra charge if housekeeping were to do dishes in the unit is tacky as we paid for accommodation and service. Also providing washing machine detergent for 1 load of washing would be a kind gesture.

Unit could do with a fresh look.

The outside of the building looked dated & a little tired, the reception entrance was very out of date & unwelcoming. Had a horrible smell like Asian cooking. Property was good but lacked the finer touches. We had a large group and rented two apartments. The kitchen in one was much better set up than the other. WIFI was limited to 1GB/ day and there were only a few Freeview channels on TV. Fortunately several of us had endless data. The managers were very obliging and friendly. The signage in the rooms was very dictatorial. 'Do your washing up or pay us to do it' If you don't check out by 10am then you will be charged so much per hour'.

Excellent location in the heart of Queenstown. Easy walk to everything. We had two bedrooms with 2 bathrooms and the space was fabulous. Full kitchen facilities. The bath was anazing after a full day of skiing. Warm and cosy. Great view from the balcony. They accommodated an early check in for us with no fuss. Would definitely stay here again.

Fantastic location - so close to town. We had an issue when they charged us $50 for a key that wasn’t returned that we thought we never received. We complained and they reimbursed us. A week later I found the key in a compartment in my bag I hardly used. My fault but the customer service was amazing - very professional!

The apartment location is excellent, only few minutes walk to the shopping and restaurants area. The one bedroom apartment is very spacious and newly renovated. The kitchen is fully equipped even with a dishwasher. The three storey apartment has a lift so it's a bonus if you have large luggage. Definitely will stay again if I have another trip to Queenstown.

Beware of your personal details!

Was not particularly happy that the reception desk requested my drivers licence as well as credit card then left my sight out a back room to ‘take a copy’. I understand having to provide credit card details but why would you require a copy of my ID? Appeared very dodgy to me and I stay at hotels regularly people have sighted my ID but never insisted on having to take a copy. I have cancelled my credit card with my bank because this has just left me feeling very uncomfortable. Room was pretty standard for a ‘executive’ room not the cleanest either. Only plus was proximity to town won’t stay here again.
