Best hostel. I love old quirky buildings with cramped halls and stairs. The rooms and common areas were spacious and well arranged. The picture of the wide open windows and bar seating area is a bit mis-leading. Yes the common eating area is like this, but the view has since changed. Huge trees block the views of anything but leaves. I ended up bringing my food back to the room for a better view.
We had a private room and bathroom. There was a mini fridge. The walls were thin but the ceilings were thick.
Great laundry area. 40 min wash and 20 min dry in a HUGE industrial dryer. The dryer is normally for their use (sheets), but since they were done, they offered their dryer.
Why is this the best hostel? LOCATION. It is literally in the middle of Queenstown, right off the lake. I walk out the door, and the lake is there. Massive numbers of shops and restaurants. Everything is within walking reach. Even a full grocery store and of course loads of tourism fun.
Never tried a hostel? No problem! There are private rooms with private bathrooms. This place can't be passed up!

Staff were great and cleaning was fine. The room did not meet our expectations. The web description led us to believe that the amenities such as the oven would be in the room rather than in the shared kitchen. Prospective guests booking the deluxe queen or double should be made more aware that, although they will have an en-suite bathroom, it is very basic and there’s barely enough room to walk around the bed. It’s a hostel and we’ve aged-out of being comfortable with it.

This ain’t the Grand Hyatt, you’re not going find a mint under your pillow, Friday and Saturday nights it can get a bit raucous outside, inside the guests were very well behaved. But clean, functional and a tremendous value , with excellent kitchen facilities, and the best location in Queenstown.

Great affordable spot for our family of 4 (8mo + 2.5yo kids) during the summer month. We stayed in a family room with two bunk beds, though we didn't used the top bunks and has to co-sleep with our little ones.
The highlight is the location. Smackbam in the heart of Queenstown! Staff are friendly and check-in process was smooth.
The cons being the noise - bars nearby played loud music til about 11pm. And the communal kitchen - too small to accommodate the size of the hostel.

The room itself was fine, quite small but that wasn't an issue. Fridge and kettle was a nice touch. The main issue was the noise, the hostel is centrally located next to bars which play very loud live music up to 12am and then the street noise continues into the early hours. Over the few nights we were there we got very limited sleep, ear plugs did very little to prevent the vibrations and noise. Credit to the staff, when we mentioned this they found us a quieter room howver this was still very noisy.

We reserved the private room for 3 and it was fantastic. Property is located in the middle of everything! The kitchen is well equipped and very nice although a bit crowded at times. Laundry was the most expensive we found in our travels but we were in the heart of Queenstown so I guess that should be expected.

Room was cosy and clean, a good size for my needs. Hostel is located near the waterfront, with easy access to pkenty of eating options and activities. Area can get noisy into the late hours due to proximity to bars and restaurants, especially at weekends. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Nice location very near intercity bus. Accessible to go bus in coronet peak and shops plus restaurant. Clean room though I give 3 stars as I don’t expect no toiletries we only have one toilet paper which been used before coz u will noticed its not new. Next day they top up soap and tissue only which is good. Kitchen has a good view.

What a great surprise!

My 22-year-old daughter gets full credit for encouraging us to stay at this hostel. Since I remember hostels from the late 80s/early 90s, you can imagine my surprise to find something that was so similar to an actual hotel. (We had a private room with our own bathroom for the three of us, though the showers were across the hall and my husband liked the shower pressure better over there.) The location cannot be beat! I should really put that in all caps. Truly, the location is in the heart of everything, it is very safe, and we could not have been more pleased with our decision to stay there!! (Actually, it was our daughter's decision, but we're glad we played along!) We stayed on the first floor, but the ground floor had a lounge where people could hang out, and the second floor had a kitchen area where you could get free coffee, tea, or hot chocolate. There is a laundry facility right next-door, in case you need it. Again, everything was very clean. And I should note that my husband was very pleased after his first night's sleep there, because he said it was the best sleep he had in the 10 days we have been in New Zealand. (I also turned on a noise cancellation app that night. It is a bustling city after all. )

Can't beat the location, everything is literally in walking distance with the only need for a hire car for roaming, all the shuttles are the next street over for most activities and tours. We cracked it with free parking aswell which was close to accommodation. And views from the shared kitchen area are breathtaking. Clean accommodation, staff friendly with lots of advice.

Se você é jovem, dorme tarde e dorme em quaisquer condições, talvez aqui funcione para você.
Eu durmo cedo e foi bastante difícil dormir lá porque fiquei em um quarto no primeiro andar que ficava em frente à orla, com muito barulho dos bares e restaurantes ao redor até de madrugada. Precisei dormir de fone de ouvido na sexta e no sábado, o que foi bastante desconfortável.
O banheiro privado é bem pequeno.
A pia e o chuveiro são bem baixos.

Apesar disso, os funcionários são bem solícitos, a cozinha coletiva é bem organizada, você pode deixar seus itens separados tanto em geladeira quanto em prateleiras.
O hostel é absurdamente central e você consegue fazer tudo andando.
Sendo assim, é mais interessante para quem NÃO está de carro, uma vez que o hostel fica no centro e é extremamente difícil estacionar em Queenstown.
Fui em baixa temporada (abril) e já era péssimo. Imagino como fica pior para estacionar em alta temporada.
Se estiver de carro, talvez faça mais sentido se hospedar em um local mais afastado do centro, porém maior e mais confortável por preço semelhante.
Se estiver sem carro e precisar ficar em local central e barato, o Absoloot é uma boa opção.

The location of the hotel, the accommodations themselves and the staff were beyond exemplary, but Hotels.com was deplorable in its functions or rather its inability to perform its obligation to its customers and the hotel itself. I was locked out because Hotels.com did not deliver. The message to hotel had sent me with special instructions being required for check-in after 9 PM when I contacted Hotels.com I wasted two hours on a chat with them while they’ve berated me for making the mistake insisting I had received a message that never arrived. I checked my messages and emails multiple times during this chat to no avail but both the customer service agent and their supervisor were not only an empathetic to my situation, but also downright rude and abusive when I stop by the hotel the following day the hotel informed me that this is typical of the platform that there are delays in the communication caused by hotels in the hotels does not allow direct communication between The host and the guest. Needless to say not only was my money wasted, but I was left without a place to stay that night because the remainder of the accommodations in town were full in summary stay here for its wonderful location and view, but book directly with the property and avoid using Hotels.com in general for future stays I certainly will be doing the same

Unbeatable location in the center of the center. Literally 10ft from the pier and the views we travelled for. Yes, it is listed as a hostel, but if you book the private room, it is the same as a hotel, but basic. We had the 4-bed room (traveling with two adult kids). I would absolutely return there.

Great location, very central. Allows free storage of luggage while you're away as long as you have a return stay. Clean beds. Awesome kitchen with opening windows. Free loan of towel. Elevator. Would definitely stay here again! One awkward design flaw with their bathroom sinks and little shelf just above the sink - they're both the same width making it awkward to wash your face and brush your teeth without making a mess.

What an amazing find. Not what I expected at all. So central to everything, perfect mattress and pillow, a/c was preset to an optimum temperature. Kitchen is clean and very functional with beautiful views. $40 from the airport with an uber or $60 with a large vehicle. Staying here again!

The location of the hostel was fabulous. Easy walking to everything we needed and free parking.
Kitchen space was great and the lounge den was good with movies, PlayStation, Wii and book swap.
Our family room was good, and had a view of the water.
Our only issue was the laundry being closed each morning till 2pm as big numbers of check in coming.....frustrating.

This is usually a well-located hostel located in the heart of Queenstown. However, currently the entire area is under construction, which has removed all the parking options and replaced them with \"loading zones.\" The only solution was to use the loading zones to unload your luggage and then park at least 15 mins walk away to return to the hostel on foot. That is, if there is parking. This being Queenstown, there frequently was no parking available especially during peak hours. I was not informed of this until a few days before our stay, and we have a large family with kids! Needless to say, this made the location a huge downside rather than bonus.

Superb budget accommodation for senior citizen!

As a solo, older woman, I was made to feel so very welcome and comfortable - in accommodation used mostly by younger backpackers. The ‘security’ made me feel very safe. The most outstanding ‘plus’ for me was the ‘Absolootly’ fabulous view I had from my room!

The place looked just perfect when we got there but when we saw the bed sheets where dirty ...so we asked the staff for clean ones and they were helpful doing that but when I change them underneath of the dirty ones I found a huge nail...disgusting !
Then the room it’s too noisy not just for the people that’s go pass but the ducks are all night making noises !
The staff is really kind and the kitchen it’s clean and has a beautiful view !

Had the corner room 308. Fabulous view over waterfront. Very spacious, fridge, microwave. Decent shower ensuite. Great service from staff. Outstanding value for money for Queenstown. Lack of on-site parking may be an issue for some. Offset by central location
