The hotel was a bit tired and not quite up to star rating. The redeeming feature was friendly, polite and helpful staff. The room was a bit noisy, looking out into Aircon units. We tried to move but there were no options available. The bed wasn't the most comfortable but clean.

Breakfast was great, staff were friendly, unfortunately the elevator was very loud and heard down the hall. Also the walls of the rooms are very thin and sound easily passes through. Location is very close to the Rome train terminal which is helpful but a good hike from all attractions. Lastly ran out of hot water very quickly so we had to boil water in the included kettle for any baths.

Good hotel, but definitely not worth the price.

Great Hotel Near Rome Termini

Spent one Night layover on my way from Sardinia to Singapore. Loved the location, i usually stay in that quarter, few good restaurants nearby and very close to Rome Termini ( Rome Central Station) to hop in the train to the Airport. Room was spacious and clean, reception was ooen wven when i arrived late evening , there was also breakfast provided , although didn't use as i was running to catch the Train to Airport.

We had an amazing room with huge terrace. I arrived around 11 am and was ready be told “too early” or “need to pay extra for early check in”. But the room was ready to check in early without any extra fees!
Great experience with very friendly ladies at the front desk !

The hotel staff is very friendly, he allowed us to store our luggage in the hotel before the check in time so we could go visit Rome. The location is very good, it close to Termini, and bus stops are only 50 m away. Metro station is about 100 m away. The supermarket is also 50 m away. The breakfast was excellent, a lot of fresh bakery. The room was clean, only one issue is the bathroom shower door only cover half of the burg tub, so the water will splash out if we did not careful. Overall, it was a great place to stay in Rome!

The customer service was excellent, very friendly. The staff was able to book a taxi to the airport which was very convenient. Also we were able to buy Hop on, hop off tickets at front desk.
The breakfast was served on time, freshly baked croissants and other pastries. Good variety of foods.

I would save my puke on something else, this is so bad that it is unpukeable. Cannot imagine who gave this a 4star rating. There is paint peeling from the walls and ceiling, flooring is distorted due to water damage. Bed and blanket covers were dusty. The room had strong smell of cigarette smoke. The tiles in the common areas were all cracked and seemed like we were in a real historic Rome building to give us the experience. Walls were thin and we could hear someone coughing all through the night. Street noise, especially during the night was super audible. Wonder what the rating system even means with all these issues.

This is at best a 2* hotel. The room is pretty old with peeled off wall paper and chipped paint. The walls are paper thin as I was hearing every person who flushed a toilet in the rooms on top or next to mine, not to mentioned anyone opening or closing doors. Breakfast is fine but not that good.
2 redeeming qualities are the good staff and the proximity to Roma Termini. I would not go back there nor would I recommend it.

a 3 days weekday getaway in Italy, ok stay here

The hotel has some issues on hardware that makes it hard to believe it is 4 star. We had noise problems and broken socket (and TV wire broken). However, the services provided by the staffs and managers are excellent. I would hope they upgrade the hardware soon (probably 2 stars), but with excellent services and reasonable Italian breakfast, the overall is 3 starts. It is also very close to the main station.

This hotel was pretty and had the best breakfast of our stay in Italy of 2 weeks. The rooms were fine and I even had room on the sink to place my things without them falling into the sink. This hotel had charm but still felt spacious. It overlooks a street in Rome. The front desk staff were helpful and nice. They let us keep our luggage there after we checked out for free while we continued to tour the city. This hotel was a good walking distance from some of the main sites to see so be ready to walk.

We loved the Villa Franca, stayed 3 nights, the staff was excellent, the breakfast was excellent, the location is perfect, close to Termini Station, close to the metro, really good restaurants near by, pharmacy is one block away, there’s a grocery store one block away. Next time we are in Rome, we would not hesitate to book this hotel again.

This Stay Was Not One I Would Repeat

This booking did not impress as a 4 star hotel by any stretch.
Very dated, very basic.
A 3-star rating in our opinion, would be more accurate.
It was clear a lot of updates done on what is an old hotel. Still, our room was not impressive & lacked a 4-star level of comfort.
The bed was not comfortable. Things like a coffee maker, kettle, face cloth were available but had to be requested thru the front desk. Although there appeared to be a number of English-speaking clients, no English channels were offered on the television, which would have been nice.
Breakfast offerings were self-serve and certainly adequate.
We walked the area in which it was located. There was broken glass and garbage on the sidewalks, which is in no way a reflection of this hotel but certainly something to be aware of when booking

Very good choice

Hotel is in a very good location and walkable distance to sights and train station. Room decoration could have been a bit more modern and a little more variety for the breakfast buffet but overall very clean, good bed mattress and staff were very accommodating to any requests we had. Would definitely come back as we enjoyed our stay and slept well!

We booked a superior room. The service at the front desk was great, everything was clean and the room was good size. The balcony was small and the room only came with one chair so we couldn't sit outside together.
The hotel is situated on a small street so the noise level is relatively low. The location is OK, 10 minute walk to the train station, but a bit far from all the tourist attractions.
The breakfast was not great. We don't care for Italian breakfast to begin with but most of the other places we stayed on this trip had sliced fruit and a better selection of meats and cheeses.
We would not stay here again based solely on the bed. It was hard and lumpy which made for a terrible nights sleep. The worst bed we slept in during our trip around Italy where we stayed in ten different hotels.

Located in a lane and at night it is not safe as there are strange characters standing around.Rooms are small and not clean. Generally property is not properly maintained. Blankets were grotty and had strange black spots. Staff do not have a good attitude especially one short stout guy in charge of making coffee and doubles as room service. We had to request 4 times for a small water kettle and got it only when it was made through 2 desk managers.

This was the worst bed we have ever slept in. Hard as a rock. The pillows where flat. The shower door only covered 1/2 of the tub and the shower head was placed in the middle of the tub not the end like normal tubs, it made it impossible to shower without getting everything wet. We checked out early and left Rome

We just returned from a one week stay in Rome and our experience with the Hotel Villafranca was excellent. The priced was reasonable. The hotel's location was very convenient for walking to restaurants, metro stops including the Termini and walking to city sites. It wasn't in a pristine part of the city but it wasn't bad either. We were about a ten minute walk from the Termini station which connects you with all of Italy. The Castro Pretorio metro station was a 2 minute walk. This is the blue line that takes you straight to the Colosseum (2 or 3 stops away.) The hotel had a nice lobby with a bar and also a sitting area. Our group was able to pick up food and bring it back to eat there. The front desk staff was fantastic. They went above and beyond to be friendly and helpful, especially Serena and Joseph. They always got us where we needed to go safely and when we were trying to call somewhere unsuccessfully they offered to make the call for us and took care of the details for us. The breakfast was really good. They always had scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage in addition to various breads, cereals, meats, cheeses and fruits. When we had a very early train to catch or tour to meet, they provided us with a breakfast box to go. All in all we had a very nice experience at the Hotel Villafranca. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Very good hotel within easy walking distance of central station and close to Hoponhopoff bus. Staff friendly and helpful, room clean. Need to ask for tea and coffee making facilities if you want them in your room. Great breakfast included. Would recommend to anyone looking for a good reasonably priced stay in Rome.

What a great way to start a holiday !

From the moment we were met at the airport until we were taken to the Rome cruise port we were more than pleased ! It was really appreciated that after our overnight flights from Canada and arriving at 9am - we were able to check in by 1030 ! Thanks to Valentino and Serena - cant thank you enough ! rooms were really nice and so easy to get to train station, metro etc. Serena also helped us find some new destinations as we had been in Rome before and she recommended a short train journey which we enjoyed. Every evening we relaxed (there were 2 couples) and CoCo (barman extrodinaire !) kept us cheerful with cold beers and munchies. Then he would direct us to a restaurant which we were always happy with. CoCo is priceless !

Nice hotel close to the train station

We only spent one night here before catching the train from Rome to Sorrento. The staff was very friendly and helpful, our room was surprisingly good-sized, clean and quiet, and well-priced. It was an easy walk with our bags to the train station. We would stay there again

The location of the Hotel Villafranca was great! Close to Termini station and the metro system. Also, only about half an hour walk to the Colosseum and other popular attractions. At night the area was quiet and felt very safe. We arrived very early in the morning (around 1 am) and the hotel staff was very friendly and checked us in very quickly so we could get up to our room and to bed. The room was very spacious and clean. Only complaint was that the bed was very firm. Would stay here again!
