Avoid this place!!! The staff steal your things there, I had a bag in one of the lockers in my room which I forgot as I had to ask to change my bed to a lower one since that ladders are not accessible at all and when I got back by night I realised I had forgotten that bag with shampoo, shower soap, face soap and conditioner. It was a supermarket bag, so nothing to call attention of anyone else in who was staying the room to take it away. Even my pant which I left inside that lockers was also gone!!! My bag simply disappeared in the air apparently, as no one took any responsibility for it!! Obviously, what happened is that it was the cleaners that took away (stole) my bag. I ask again, the procedure should not be to take ‘lost property’ to reception in case the owner wants it back??! Clearly this is not the case in this hostel, as they (the cleaners) probably thought what they found in my bag was nice stuff and just decided to keep to themselves! I spoke and complained with both reception staff and management and asked for a compensation for this absurd situation and they couldn’t do anything!! The manager even told me that ‘she trusted her staff’??! Clearly this is not the case here! I will never come back if I ever happen to be in Madrid again and if you don’t want your things stolen, avoid this place!!

Really loved my brief stay here and made so many friends in a very short time . Staff were very accommodating and luggage storage was ideal for exploiting the city before my flight and kitchen with free coffee :) Only downside was I didn’t get to use the spa , given there wasn’t very ideal booking slots suited around check out and was a missive selling point for choosing. Will hopefully be able to in my next booking :)

The location was centrally located and easy to get around. Front staff were friendly. The beds were comfortable. We had a private 4 bunk room. There was a sewer smell that was coming ftom the shower. Room was pretty clean but bathroom for toilet and shower had lots of dyat vuilt up on bsdeboards. Kitchen and common spaces were small. For younger travelers there activities planned that looked fun...pub crawals, tours, beer pong, bar hours on roof (pretty small space).

Fully stocked kitchen with group refrigerators is a plus. Rooftop patio is amazing. Plenty of people from all over. Great vibes. Beds were nice and comfortable cubbys. Storage under bed with a place for your own lock is great. They will hold your bags until check in or it you are checking out until you're ready. Very accommodating staff. Do them a favor and don't loiter outside late at night. It is a residential neighborhood and people definitely complain.

Exceptionally friendly staff and amazing location (walkable to all major attractions and a subway station a block away). I booked the 12 person female dorm and the sheets had some hair on it when I checked in, so I'm not sure if they were changed. The A/C in the room broke for two nights so we had to leave the windows open and it got super hot then chilly. There were two toilets and two shower stalls per floor per gender which felt a bit dirty, perhaps due to high traffic the weekend I stayed. I never had to wait to use those though. The toilet stalls were super tight, I could barely turn around. Free coffee and churros every morning and always a ton of activities to do! I think this is a great affordable option for a short stay.

Top notch hostel

For the standards of being hostel, this is a top-notch place. Comfortable and quiet, and lots of privacy. I was in a 12 bed female dorm and it was a nice stay. I luckily had the bed in front of the AC so it was comfortable, otherwise I would probably have thought it was hot. They had a communal kitchen that was well stocked with all types of appliances to make food as if it was a full kitchen.

Everything was fine except they don't have hot water, and it's very limited. You have to shower by pressing on the bottom, which is incredibly uncomfortable. Everything else was excellent, and the coffee and churros for breakfast were delicious!

Hi, the reception was great and the location is excellent. However, the room wasn’t properly cleaned—we even found clothes from the previous guest. The shower was also disappointing, as it takes a long time to warm up and you have to keep pressing the button. Overall, if you’re mainly looking for a convenient location, this place works.

Excellent hostel - would happily stay here again

Super helpful and friendly staff! From reception staff to cleaning staff - all great :) It really makes such a difference to the vibe of the place when the staff are awesome.

Very clean - great showers and hot water. On a quiet street in an excellent location of Madrid. Close to everything but no outside noise. Two elevators, so no long waits. Roof terrace is cool. The room I was in and the common areas were spacious so it didnt feel cramped. I read the story about the background of the hostel and its founders and I admire the ethos behind it. Tonnes of activities organised and social events if you want to get involved. Lots of locker storage. Fast WiFi. Everything was perfect - would stay here again. Gracias!

Doors are too noisy

Came back to this hostel after a while, few things have changed, on the positive, they got a much stronger and faster wifi, now it is usable for work without an issue.

On the negative side the mattress was worn out and the doors slam quite hard, they have a small note behind the door to close it carefully but try to explain to your average hostel goer to be respectful, specially Australians, British or Americans, not a chance.

The rest remains the same, I can't recommend this hostel for weekends if you want to sleep, it's more of a party vibe place, during the week is slightly quieter but they have to sort out the issue with the doors, they all have an arm closer but it's not properly setup.

Prices have gone up but at least they still give you free access to luggage storage even after checkout, which is becoming increasingly rare.

The staff are friendly as respectful as always.

A Perfect Stay

My daughter and I really enjoyed our stay there, and I am glad I got a chance to introduce her to the hosteling lifestyle that I so enjoyed in my 20s. Everything was perfect. From the helpfulness of the staff, to the cleanliness of the rooms to the comfort of the beds. I especially liked the spa after a long day of traveling.

Had high hopes after reading reviews, but was very disappointed.

The good: Great central location, 1-min walk to metro station, Lidl and Carrefour market, 5 mins walking to Plaza Mayor. Beds have blockout curtains, elevators in building.

The bad: The noise. Guests come and go all night since there is a pub crawl every evening at 11pm. Drunk people don't respect quiet hours, slamming doors and yelling in the corridors. The fridge was disgusting. Food thrown everywhere on top of each other. My food was soaking wet and destroyed due to someone throwing their stuff with liquids on top of it. Also, on check-in the staff member told me they didn't have any reservation under my name. Took them a while to finally find it.

Definitely a place for young party-goers. If you want to get some sleep, don't stay here.

It is a good choice for staying the night. It was my first time in a place like this. The staff was friendly but the hostel charges you the locker key of the luggages. Although I expected the room to be a little spacier. The toilet and bath room were also very small. I needed a bigger sink or shelf so as to put my things for as Long I used These rooms. There were only hangers.
Overall the bed and sheets were clean, the curtain gives you privacy, the room and my 7 roomates were mostly quiet (I just met 2 of them, nobody bothers you) but you can imagine that in a place like that you Will hear caughing, Door opening and closing during the night, the lockers, the luggages that come and go! If you are a heavy sleeper you will be ok.
The air condition was functioning perfectly giving the high temperatures but personally I would like to have a blanket too.
The area around its noisy and messy but is a life saver giving its proximity to public transports.
I would choose it again just for one night.

We were a group of three and therefore rented an entire room with 4 beds for the night. It was $99 which was ok, but not amazing. If we had been there for more than 1 night, an AirBnB would have been the same price or even cheaper. Doors were slamming until 1am. It was impossible to sleep. The room was a bit dirty, but the AC was very strong. The staff was very friendly. Probably wouldn't stay here again.

. It was a nice experience to sleep in one of those “cabins” you have your own light, charging point for your phone, computer, etc.

The area does not look nice at first but honestly has a lot of nice bars, restaurants, and places to have some drinks.

I would go back to stay maybe 2-3 nights.

My only inconvenience was some people who stay in my room (female) there is female bathrooms I believe on all floors and someone that arrived at the room around 2AM did not have problem to use the sink room for at least 25 min with the door open.

Excuse me? That time, that noice, etc, etc.

I went out at 6AM to get ready in the bathroom outside. I used the bathroom outside before I was planning to go to sleep at 12:30 AM

I saw many people was traveling like me that morning. Please common sense at the moment of sharing a room like this one.

Otherwise was a nice experience and very affordable. Madrid hotels are very expensive. I stayed 2 nights in a hotel close to the airport and honestly the mattress was like a hard table for $120.00 per night.

I won’t hesitate to be in one of those hostels again before depart from Europe to USA

The boys that worked front desk in the evenings were very friendly, made me feel welcomed everytime and very helpful for check in, giving advice on the area and things to do with the hostel.
Kitchen was very small, but the free churros and coffee were nice. Good areas to hangout in - although I didnt find people to be very social in the social areas, maybe just a slow time of year.
Good area of Madrid and felt very safe. Privacy in the dorm was great, slept very well.

Локация хорошая: рядом два продуктовых - лидл и карефур(24 часа), метро, главная площадь. До всего пешком можно ходить, парк Ретиро минут 20 ходьбы.
Сам хостел не большой, но есть кухня со всем необходимым, души и туалеты на этажах, кофе и чай бесплатный.
Дают карту города, есть полезые инструкции, а бесплатные 2 экскурсии групповые.
Я жила в женском номере на 8 чел, душ и туалет были внутри номера. Это и хорошо и плохо, все принимают душ когда хотят, номер маленький, так что шумно. Душ тоже маленький, чтобы шла вода нужно нажимать постоянно кнопку. не хватает полочек. Окно есть на улицу, если закрыть то будет тихо. Кондей работает.
Вид с крыши не плохой, но там все курят, так что не курящим там не очень хорошо.
Большой плюс - после выезда бесплатно можно оставить багаж и принимать душ, ну и пользователь кухней.

It is safe quiet and you have privacy (at least I had, don't know about other rooms). Everywhere is an a walkable distance. Lastly I want to thank the staff and especially Carlos, because I travelled alone I didn't know what to do and he guided me.

Favorite hostel

For six weeks I stayed in hostels around Western Europe and 2060 Newton was probably my favorite hostel. It is a the perfect balance between social and work-friendly, with a general area next to the kitchen that’s more social, and the ‘bunker’ that’s quiet and perfect for working. The bathrooms are clean and while kept, beds are very cozy and private, reception is always friendly and helpful, kitchen is workable for its size, and the roof is a great place to hang out with friends.
I definitely recommend taking the walking tours if you do want to make friends at the hostel and others nearby, as well as the pub crawls (but note I wish reception would have given a better estimate on the tips asked at the end of the walking tours, be prepared to tip at least 10£, up to 20+. But it’s a great tour and well worth the money for 2-3 hours.) I think my only critique was that some of the bed cubbies lacked ventilation and the in room AC was difficult to navigate, so your room could get a bit stuffy at night.

Really great hostel. Rooms and facilities were clean. There was a locker under the bed, if you buy your own lock make sure it is a very thin-barred one so it fits. Shower rooms could be bigger but had their own little sink, mirror, and places to put your things. The shower was strong and nice and hot! There is also a sink, urinal, and toilet cubicle too. Never had to wait for shower to be free - there are four on each floor (2 for male, 2 for female). The kitchen area was good with plenty of seats. I didn't cook or prepare food but looked like would be suitable to do so and was very clean! Beds were comfy, liked having a curtain although would prefer if could also cover up the big circular hole for privacy. Overall, highly recommend.

Cold shower, black mold, uncomfortable coffinlike bed.
I stay in many hostels, but this was one of the worst quality of sleep I had.
The mattress is thin and old, there are walls on 5 sides of the cube, giving a clausterphobic feeling. ( Other beds in the room look better, but two in each room have no egress other than foot-well. )
The shower did not get warm at all.
It was February too. So not a nice experience. There was black mold on the walls (see photo) in bathroom.

Pros: staff was nice, location good.

Needs better cleanliness and updates, it's not terrible, but it doesn't warrant the ecstatic reviews on this website

Bed was comfortable, but there is too much noise to get a good night's sleep. You can hear everything outside your room, you can hear people talking in the hallway from a floor down and all of the doors slamming and it vibrates the walls of your bed. If you need a cheap place to stay this is probably ok but if noise bothers you , you will not get a good night's rest here.

The best hostel I have seen by now

Excellent hostel right in the centre of everything, close to many famous sights, a musical theatre, flamenco bars etc. The cave-like \"time capsules\" where you sleep in are fully shielded from curious looks and provide privacy, the kitchen is well equipped and always has plenty of free food, there are funny and inspiring quotes on the walls, and the whole place has a happy, cosmopolitan, and all-inclusive feel. I will definitely come back again!

Stayed in a 8 mix dorm and never felt it was too crowded. The bathroom was exceptionally kept clean and stocked. Bed was comfy, room was good temperature. Staff was friendly and it helped that they have a brief run down of the hostel. Free churros, coffee and tea in morning was basic and appreciated. I was solo and saw lots of events and socializing happening but didn’t participate. WiFi strong. Location perfect if you wanna get around.

I stayed in the first floor facing the streets and it was loud all day and night, even with the window closed. Thank goodness for my ear plugs. Lots of people coming and going all throughout the night in the room and hallways. You can hear doors closing and opening and people chatting in hallways. Madrid is a party city and people apparently don’t sleep, but I expected that.

The only minor complaint is that 8 people were sharing a tiny, tiny bathroom and that spa area is charged extra(It should be mentioned beforehand, but hey who needs a sauna in the middle of the summer in the Madrid :=) )

Very lovely hostel in a prime location. The staff was helpful and welcoming from the moment I checked in. They have a lot activities and free tour available that I highly suggest you take advantage of. The rooms were clean and quiet. Overall decent stay. The logistics of the en-suite bathroom were strange. The sink was in the shower room and the bathroom was separate. So if someone was in the shower while ur wanting to use the bathroom, you just had to wait. Also the sink was super tiny. Otherwise room was clean.

A great place to stay in Madrid

Clean and friendly staffs. Close to metro and other attractions.
Enjoyed the free walking tour arranged by them. The guide Erica was amazing and fun.

Awesome hostel with tons of space common space.

Probably one of my favourite hostel in Madrid and I stayed at a few. It’s really clean and they have many places to lounge including a rooftop. Hands down just a pleasant stay.

I was incredibly happy with my stay. The facilities are clean, new and comfortable. Even in a capsule-type bed, I was quite cozy and private. Plus, the location is a stone's throw from the metro and completely easy to reach. To get back to the train station, airport etc is a breeze. I won't even look elsewhere when I'm back in Madrid again :-)

Clean room, privacy cause of curtains for every bunkbed, private bathroom and shower. Great walking tour with the sisters Diana and Erika of Wolves Tours Madrid. Very enthousiastic and give you real good advice on what to do, where to get the Jamon Iberico, which restaurants and where to go to for sunset.

This was a great hostel in a great location! It had several walking tours and was easy to walk to many of the main attractions of Madrid! I loved the enclosed bunks with curtains for privacy, and there were plenty of toilets and showers on each floor even if the rooms had ensuites. It has this “doomsday” theme, but was more angled at trying to live every day to the fullest because you never know what tomorrow brings! The staff were friendly and helpful, and the map you receive at check-in was super helpful! The hot tub is only available for €5 for an hour, and you have to reserve it in advance, which would be the main downfall. Overall, I would definitely return to this hostel!

I really loved staying in the hostel. The staff was great and there were plenty of activities offered. I did have one big issue though - they allow children there. During my stay there was a children’s marathon happening in Madrid so my hostel will full of probably 15 kids (they were not in my room). I just think it’s a bit awkward having kids run around and play games in the common areas.
I also would not recommend the flemnco show, this can be easily done on your own (we got seated in an area where we could barely see anything due to the discounted ticket).

But like I said the hostel was one of the best I’ve stayed in, the beds are so comfortable and private.

Awesome Hostel

Stayed here for five nights in room 104, a four bed dorm with a private shower. The toilet, washbasin and shower are all separate. One thing that did annoy me is that both the washbasin and shower had a delay tap design, which is just something I dislike. The dorm was clean when I entered, cleaned everyday and same goes for the general cleanliness of the hostel.

The beds are arranged two by two, each with a privacy curtain. The bed itself had plenty of storage space, which could easily hold three medium sized backpacks. Each bed had only one electrical socket. The bedding was a little thing though, but not uncomfortable as I prefer a firm bed anyway.

Location wise, the hostel is fairly central. Virtually all the main attraction are within a 20 minute walk. For anything further out, the hostel is 3 minutes walk to the metro station. The nearby plaza has cafes, restaurants, a Carrefour and Lidl supermarkets. It's no problem to cook at the hostel. The kitchen in the hostel isn't big, but is clean and has everything needed to cook and eat. Officially, breakfast isn't provided, but coffee and churros is available anyway every morning.

Laundry is also available. I think it cost me 7 euros to wash and dry a load and detergent is included in the washing machine automatically.
The staff were just awesome, friendly from the start and throughout the stay. The hostel does have regular activities such as Tapas night, 3 times a week, and can confirm that it's worth attending.

A very tidy, modern hostel, incredible location. Walking distance to everything in Madrid! Cool rooftop patio, although it closes early at 8pm. Only thing I didn’t understand is the “End of the World” theme but it definitely made the place unique! Definitely recommend.

Highly recommend

Newton is a first rate hostel. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and they organize events like evening empanadas and free tours. The facilities are new and clean. The location is great, in an area with easy access to the main sites, and to restaurants and bars.

Muy buena ubicación, centrico, muy cerca de todo. Metro a tan solo una cuadra. También muchas tiendas cercanas.
Personal no muy bien entrenado: alquilé una toalla por 3€ ni bien llegué, tomé un baño y dejé la toalla en mi perchero. Salí a dar un paseo y volví por la noche. Al llegar la toalla no estaba, alguién la había sacado de mi perchero. Al consultar con la recepción, uno de los recepcionistas me acusó de ladrón, dijo que yo había robado la toalla, que me daría otra pero que era la ùltima que me darían.
