We booked this hotel in good faith, expecting to be secure and safe during Hurricane Melissa. Instead, the property was in deplorable condition and clearly unfit to withstand the storm. We were forced to leave due to unsafe conditions, including visible structural issues and lack of running water.

The property was poorly constructed and misrepresented online by Expedia!

The resort was doable, however they have too many CATS walking around. The need to keep the STRAY CATS out as people have severe allergy to CATS. They were everywhere and people walking around like they don't see this. This can be life threatening to people who are ALLERGIC TO CATS.

They should not have advertised all the amenities that were not available due to the reconstruction in some parts of the resort. The swim up bar, adult pool, and jerk hut were not available due to the reconstruction and that was one of the main amenities that we were looking for when comparing resorts. I only experienced one of the restaurants, which had really good oxtail, but the atmosphere wasn’t semi formal. My room was great but outdated. The staff was excellent and the gift shop was fantastic. You should really advertise to your visitors that the gift shop was actually less expensive than the gift shops offsite. Unfortunately, there was also hurricane coming, so we couldn’t enjoy the water sports but that’s not the resort’s fault at all. I appreciate the fact that they made sure everyone was safe. My experience wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great. Once the resort completes the renovations maybe I can come back and experience it 100%.

The Jamaican and Japanese restaurants were amazing . Yanique from the Japanese rest. Was a great cook/host! The food in the buffet was amazing as well . The beach was clean, the water was clear and the private island was so nice. The water in the rooms took a few minutes to heat up but that wasn’t a problem for me. The ac worked and had the room very nice and cool. The beds were comfy. The shops have a lot of nice things on grounds. Karaoke was fun ! And water aerobics was fun at the pool. The drinks were flowing and the food was amazing. We had to leaver early due to hurricane Melissa but we will be back. May all the staff and ninps be safe through the storm. Thank you.

Frustrated that we received no Welcome Gift although Expedia asked how we enjoyed it, and frustrated that other guests got a personal staff greeting and tour upon arrival while we got no such thing. Only discovered this day before we were leaving so couldn’t remedy this.

Room was clean, staff quickly remedied non-working AC concern. Loved sitting on the beach watching the waves. Many of the breakfast & dinner staff were so wonderful making sure we got service if we needed it, places to sit, coffee, etc. We were definitely taken care of. Will love to return if possible.

I was here for 11 days and for the first time ever I had to go to the counter and get my card reactivated every day until a young man helped me the 8th day. Thankfully he had the sense to activate my card until I checked out.

Several of my friends and I saw multiple cockroaches in the Japanese restaurant. I only ate at that restaurant once and it may, or may not be, coincidental but I had a stomach bug for about 24 hours afterwards.

My 10-year-old left his travel money out near the TV and it was initially taken (the maid gave it back) so unless you're leaving a tip make sure money is put away.

Overall we walked away with some nice memories but I don't think I would particularly want to go back to this resort in Jamaica.

We paid for an oceanfront view and got reviews of nothing but rough and equipment. Half of the resort was shut down due to construction. We were not notified before or after booking which included half of the amenities of the hotel and resort, which is why we chose to stay there we’re not available to us. We had a really poor experience at check-in. Our original room was under construction and the beds weren’t even upper put together so we had to wait around in another hour and to try to get a new room of which we were given a room that was not oceanfront like stated before I had views of the rooftop with all of the ventilation and air-conditioning equipment. Overall, I would say I had very poor service and definitely did not get the vacation we paid for.

Waitress were overallvery good but unfortunately, after parking my car on the hotel property thinking it would be safe. On the return to my car the windscreen was broken. My husband and notified the security team and asked how can this happened whilst we were guest. They told us we parked at our own risk. I have been to several other hotel and this had never happen especially knowing our car was parked on the hotel's car parking. Nonetheless, the food was cold and not alot of choices. Juice were also hot and we had to constantly asking for ice.

The beach was okay. The room needs some facelift. I know the hotel is going through a construction process, and I can't wait to see the end product. Some of the 🍸 staff tend to be rude. The 🐈 seem to roam the hotel like they're the owner. Can't blame them the name Catalonia speak volumes.

So starting from the top of the list and going down upon arrival, we were putting the wrong room after specifying at the front desk what room we had reserved and paid for then being confirmed that yes that was the room we were booked for and then arriving to the incorrect room. We called down to the front desk and inform them that they had given us the wrong room. They apologize and said they would send somebody up with new room keys and help us move our luggage to the correct room four hours later after waiting around for said person to bring new room keys up And wasting our afternoon I called back down to the front desk and told them we were coming down with our luggage and belongings to get the new room keys. They said we couldn’t because they had already given them to somebody who was supposed to be bringing them to us. upon finally getting the new room keys Are you getting situated We realized it was still the wrong room, but didn’t call back or complain and just may do with it. We were supposed to have a queen ocean view room. With a separate living room that had a pullout bed with the couch we ended up with a double partial ocean view room and they pull out couch. Had a horrible old nasty mattress with no sheets nor pillows call down to the front desk to ask for a set of sheets and pillows for the couch never received them. The next issue we faced was the shower leaked everywhere causing serious slip and fall hazard i myself fell twice. And we had to use multiple towel

This resort is beautiful. The proximity to the airport is great. However, the staffs are incredibly rude. Front desk and the Guess service desk were friendly. The rest, dining, bars, etc. not very friendly at all. You can’t even ask a simple question that you either get an attitude or they completely ignore you. We thought it was just us, but after chatting with some other guests, they had the same complaint.
We were not impressed with the quality and variety of the food either.

I understand the hotel is going through a merger, from Holiday In to Catalonia ,so I expected a few things might not run perfectly. I stayed during the summer, and there was quite a bit of ongoing construction, which made certain parts of the stay a bit inconvenient. For example, we didn’t receive fresh towels daily and had to go to the pool area to get them ourselves. There also weren’t enough umbrellas around the pool, which made it difficult to find shade.

However, overall my stay was very nice. The food was great, and the staff were wonderful—always friendly and very apologetic about the construction. I can tell they’re working hard to improve the property, and I look forward to seeing the finished updates in the future.

The best part of this resort was the lids club! The staff was amazing. Food wasnt good, they would run out of jerk chicken and burgers. restaurant staff was rude and lazy. We checked out early and went to another resort! Also they are under construction so the lids swing set isnt there anymore.

It would have been fair to let us know that the hotel was currently under construction and that the adult pool and gameroom were not available before we booked. The pool table in the area near the gym had a giant tear.
There were large boxes and debris in the corner of the tennis courts.
I got a rather severe sunburn the first day. The next morning my husband wanted me to stay in bed and went to get me something to eat. He was stopped while trying to leave the buffet, and when he asked about room service he was told that was only for \"privileged\" members. He had to leave the small plate he had already made for me.
There also seemed to be a mosquito infestation, something we had never before experienced at a resort. We were continually bitten no matter where we went, including at the buffet and open air restaurant. I had to stay in our room at night to avoid the mosquitoes, but eventually we were bitten in our room too. We bought benadryl cream in the on-site store. We were charged $33.00 for a small tube.
The entertainment, heard from our room, was either not very good or the fault was the entertainment system, which usually sounded fuzzy and unclear.
The room was lovely, but the t.v. reception was poor and the jacuzzi stopper was broken. There were no instructions on how to turn the jacuzzi on. There was a leak in the bathroom and slight openings in the closed outside doors, thereby allowing in the mosquitoes.
The food was just not very good.

I am very disappointed with my stay. The hotel is not worth the amount charged, as the room was dirty and the bathroom in room 1239 was in terrible condition. I showed this issue to the front desk at check-out, but the staff member did not apologize and only told me to speak to security. This response was unprofessional and unacceptable.

I did not like the way they treat my Mom as a guess and she was the one that introduce us to this all inclusive hotel me and my wife did not like it. I was pleasantly surprised with my experience of Catalonia. We planned to stay for 2 days and ended up extending for a week. All our needs were met! Clean comfortable bed, good food choice for everyone and most of all I loved the gym facilities. I couldn’t fault them at all. The experience definitely met my requirements.
There is reconstructions going on at the moment, which can only be a plus as they are improving the hotel. I will definitely be staying there again! Oh, I forgot to mention how reasonable the price was! Fingers crossed the price doesn't go up too much!🙏

The highs:
Courteous staff from the check in to the restaurants and throughout. I commend the staff for being polite and helpful.
The semi formal restaurant I went to for one night was great!

The oks:
The room was outdated but clean, so not too fussy about that. Entertainment nights were ok. Better than nothing. There could be more pools with various heights. Its just one pool that goes in a cirlce thats the same level.

The lows:
The buffet food was a BIG hit and miss. Miss was usually at breakfast. Some of the food were not cooked thoroughly enough and was very hard to chew. The chefs should do better. The fruit drinks tasted diluted. I preferred drinking water.
The place is filled with cats. I dont mind them on the general property, but its a turn off seeing them come through the eating area. The eating area is not in an enclosed space so its easy for them to come in and also for flies to come in as well. Management should really do something about that.
Also the beach and pool area have alot of chairs but few umbrellas. If you want an umbrella, you have to go down early to grab one because those get taken first.

Overall, the experience was just OK.

Location was amazing, the hotel staffs was phenomenal Tatiana at the buffet did an excellent job in making sure my father-in-law was comfortable and well taken care of. The best part was going over the privite island in the warm blue water to swim with all the fishes. Food choices was great and taste amazing our only issue was the property was a bit outdated which they are currently under renovation so I'm sure within a few months everything should be perfect. Me and my family will return.

This is my second time staying at this hotel. I was first impressed with the access to the private beach and the small island which is accessible via walking across the shallow waters. The dinning options has a variety of delicious foods. And there are a few different restaurants that you can reserve for the evening for a more formal dining experience. I really enjoyed the hibachi restaurant. The staff is very friendly and at your beckoning call for all your needs. I was sure to bring singles with me to leave tips after every meal and to tip the waiting staff (optional). Something else that I enjoyed was the availability of the water sports which is an additional cost at most other hotels. The rooms are clean. Also, I formy phone in the dining room and remembered it after 1 hour. The staff turned it in to the guest service and I was able to retrieve it.

Will Never recommend, or visit again. Upon checking in, I was assigned a room on the first floor with a walkout sliding door that lacked proper security. The only locking mechanism was a U-shaped lock that could easily be unhooked from the outside. I requested a different room, I encountered the same issue, three rooms later and still no resolution. All rooms had broken sliding door locks holding them closed with a u-shape sliding door pin. I was offered another room on the third floor in the same building #1. However, despite my specific request (I originally paid for a 1 bedroom ocean view) no double beds. This new room featured double queen beds. After viewing yet another room, only to find gecko like lizards running around, I reached my breaking point. The bellman’s comment regarding my “pickiness” only added to my frustration; stating ( “if it was somebody else, they would have taken one of tha rooms, you too picky. They can only give you rooms based on what you pay and since a basic room you got, that’s what they gon’ give you”) it’s unacceptable to be made to feel this way when I had already indicated willingness to pay for an upgraded room. After about 2.5 hours of waiting and back-and-forth communication, I finally received a room on the opposite side of the building. I believe that regardless of what I paid for my stay, comfort and safety should be very important in any hotel. It's disappointing that your establishment failed to provide either during my visit.

1. Check in was at 3… when we got there at 1, they checked us in and we could change and get some food. We were grateful for that.
2. The rooms were ok but dated. I know they’re doing some remodeling, so I hope the older side will get a face lift as well. The bathroom was tiny, you couldn’t turn around without bumping into something. The sheets were comfy but there was a little moldy smell (not sure where it was coming from).
3. The beach was AMAZING. Warm water, very inviting. The pool was good as well, just had some mold - needs a little cleaning.
4. The food- Breakfast - AMAZING!! Lunch and dinner were tasty but just ok.
5. The staff - everyone was pleasant.
6. The SPA - very nice. Good massage.
7. I would go back. It’s a nice place, just needs a little TLC.

The owners of this building have really neglected this place. Thenwifi is terrible in the hotel rooms, there is alot of saftey hazards uxh as unlele ground, unstable marble tables and chairs in the smoking area, limited smoking areas, some of the buffet food was cold, surplus flies at the bar, slippery bathroom and hotel room floors, the curtains do not close all the way, rusty towel hangers, outlets falling apart, imaginary IT tech guy. There was a shirt in the room when i arrived so that means the room was not properly cleaned. The bathrrom is way too smalla nd slippery that i fell on my surgery knee. Reservations were required for yheir restaurants however they were never full so it was unnecessary to reserve, on top of the asian restaurant not being open however the lights were on and the door was open, but we were never informed that it was closed prior. I really like that it is close to the airport. Staffs are friendly. l love the nightly shows and parties, and I appreciate that the organization did not close down while the renovation/construction is going on, this makes people still have jobs. This shows that they are a people person. I also like that they are family oriented, I enjoyed seeing kids involved in the shows, and I appreciate when they recognize birthdays of both kids and adults. I learnt that Catalonia has lots of locations in different countries. I will definitely be staying with them again

The property had many cats roaming and spraying furniture, eating off plates, and laying on furniture and waiting by room doors. Also, construction was taking place so it was noisy, dirty, and I could not go out to my patio area. Maid service was slow and they didn’t do a good job cleaning the rooms. Limited restaurants and food wasn’t edible most nights. The beach had two pipes that somehow allowed soapy stuff from hotel to enter water. Entertainment was lacking and repetitive.

Was a bit noisy due to the construction,the shower drain was draining properly and the chester drawer kept rolling open. The balcony door didn't close properly.

I was Highly disappointed I wanted to do a surprise for my 8 year old daughter birthday which I requested Weeks before, I will not lie the did send a bottle a wine to apologize for the inconvenience.
The food was horrible from the food to dessert, the fruits was not fresh at all, unfortunately my children even agreed I purchased a cake it was beautiful but taste awful. The room service was excellent the waiters was excellent drinks was terrible stick to getting a soda or fountain drink. Bartenders was rude seems like they didn’t want to work and that includes the bartenders inside the facility. I wouldn’t waste my money returning sorry just not worth it.

Property staff was very rude. Glasses and silverware were dirty each night. Warning bring your own silverware. Breakfast was always cold. Dinner was predictable and not much variety. Entertainment was limited. Elevators were \"ALWAYS\" Broken for the whole 5 days were there. The sodas were flat everyday. Don't be fooled by the picture of the island in the ocean its overrated and smaller than it looks. Just choose another resort.

The rooms were “ okay”. The food at the buffet had flies all over the food I can’t believe they don’t have covers for the food. The front desk ladies don’t smile or tell you anything about the restaurants the rooms don’t have anything about the restraints either. No communication at all. Maybe it was just us but we got a pretty cold welcome.

It was in terrible shape. It was not what I expected from Catalina. The rooms were low budget dirty there was nothing to do the entertainment this week and shallow. The food might’ve been the best thing out of that. The whole experience was just way under my taste level and what I expected, totally unsatisfied and would like to be rectified.

The WiFi was bad or I would say not working in the room at all. The entertainment for kids was pretty poor. Most focus was on night time bands and music which was pretty much the same every night. I wish they would do some movie nights for kids, or more games. However, my kids really enjoyed the kids club with Serena and Elsa being their teachers.
