I think staying at a resort like this for your first time in Jamaica is good. I personally wouldn’t do it again. The resort itself is nice but unfortunately I had alot of issues in my room. Thankfully I was out most of the day but wished staff took my concerns more seriously. Unfortunately, a lot of them weren’t friendly. I guess they expect you to know how all of this works but it was my first time in Jamaica… I definitely enjoyed the photographers and they really made my trip better! I got some great pictures!

A sign from the main road to direct you to the hotel would be helpful. My original room was not 100% clean. They switched us to another room with no issues.

There is no room serve option at rhis resort, which was inconvenient for us as we wanted to sleep in and relax the morning of our anniversary. It's hard to make reservations at any of the à la carte restaurants. We were able to make a reservation at the steakhouse. The food was okay. There was a massive food selection in the main dining hall. As a Caribbean person, I found they used jerk chicken to make stew chicken, which was a bit off. Probably a kichen chef hack to ensure the food isn't wasted. They need to offer more of a drink selection during dinner, as you couldn't get any mixed cocktails, only wine, beer, and champagne. The staff were friendly and attentive in the dining hall.

The entertainment was lively. We saw a tribute to Michael Jackson show and the nightclub was fun. The beach is clean with a lot of seating. Beach umbrellas would be nice.

Overall, it was a nice stay for three nights. I'd probably want to see what the other Riu locations have to offer before returning to this one.

I stayed for 4 days and 3nights. The food was great specially the dinner buffet. Overall great food! The ground staff was great but at times the front desk staff could be short with you. And not very helpful other than the staff was great! The room was very clean and the cleaning staff cleaned the rooms each day which was nice. Beach was small but nice and cleaned. Had a great time the entertainment was ok, the downfall is at night it’s not much to do. The resort is next to a lot local things which is walking distance which is a plus.

This was an ok stay, they always have things to do which is good, the food was typical for resort food. I did not like that i had to bring my own luggage to and from my room, in the heat and the rooms are very far from check in, it would be nice if they had elevators, or even a person who can drive you to your room. Overall i will give my stay a 7 out of 10. Nice place with lots to do

Very clean complex. Food at buffet okay, nothing to brag about. Steak house and Italian restaurants were excellent. Very poor communication. There for five days had tv replaced three times. Needed Splenda for coffee never got it. If you asked the maid for something they would say they don’t do that and that was the end. Were not helpful at all. Bartender in the sports bar was the best. Really not a friendly staff.

Swim up bar is a must. Food is good as long as you stick to Jamaican dishes like the jerk chicken and brown stew chicken. How much fun you have is dependent upon you though. Socialize and you'll have blast. Solid 8-9/10

The resort is very beautiful. This is my second time staying with RIU in Jamaica, but the last time I stayed at the Palace. Food was not good like the Palace was when I went in 2023. The toilet wouldn’t flush and once the maintenance guy came he walked out with the plunger dripping on the floor. Toilet still messed up hours later not flushing. Very annoying. Beds were so uncomfortable my body is sore from head to toe. I will not stay here again. If they did passes I would love to enjoy the atmosphere, drinks and pool areas but as far as the rooms. It’s a hard no for me in the future. The bed was so hard and I’ve never in my life been in a bed that feels that way at a resort. These resorts are way too pricey to be staying in a hotel with an extremely uncomfortable bed.

Rooms are clean and staff was good. Food at the buffet was average. Food at the steakhouse below average. Alcohol at this resort is bottom of the line. Beach is good if you dont go into the water. Water is slimy sand and very weedy. If you like locals harassing you from daylight to sundown to purchase merchandise, this is the Beach for you. If you like locals fighting and yelling all day at each other, this is the Beach for you. Entertainment was below average.

Nice property. Good food at the buffet and restaurants. Most staff were professional and helpful. Need more night activities that do not end so early. Teach the dining staff the difference between a sari and a coverup. A coverup can be a sari but not all saris are coverups. Nice place to stay especially for first timers in the country. Transportation was highly accessible at the property which is very convenient. Lots to choose from for off resort activities.

During our 5-day stay, the toilet in our room clogged every single time it was used. This was not a one-time inconvenience—we had to call maintenance more than seven times to address the issue. Despite repeated visits, the problem was never permanently resolved.

Eventually, we were forced to stop using the restroom in our room altogether and rely on public restrooms throughout the resort. This situation was not only unacceptable but extremely inconvenient.

What made this experience even more concerning is that I was traveling with an 83-year-old senior with limited mobility who relies on a scooter. Having to leave the room multiple times a day to find a usable restroom caused her significant stress and discomfort. This is not the level of care or accommodation we expected.

I made numerous calls to report the issue and requested to speak with a manager. Unfortunately:

* I never received a callback
* I was not offered a room change
* No proactive effort was made to resolve the situation in a meaningful way

At checkout, I finally spoke with a manager named Natoya, who acknowledged seeing the complaints and maintenance requests but stated she was unsure why no action—such as moving us to another room—was taken. This lack of accountability and follow-through is extremely disappointing.

Overall, this experience fell far below expectations, especially for a resort of this caliber. Basic room functionality and guest care should never be compromised, particularly when vulnerable

10/10! Only things I didn’t like: the beds were hard (but party hard enough & it doesn’t matter) & the first day we got there they had games in the lobby, but the other days they did not.
The staff is AMAZING! Kevin, Nekesha, Trudy-Ann, Briskett (sorry if I spelt wrong) & Riri were all absolutely AMAZING! It truly feels like your home away from home!
If you want to buy souvenirs on the beach, Kevin (he’s always furthest from the resort & not pushy) has the best items, & he’s so kind!

During my stay, at approximately 12:00 PM, an unknown individual entered my room while my girlfriend and I were inside. I was on the balcony at the time, and the person immediately left when my girlfriend called my name. This was a serious security and privacy breach.

When reported to hotel management, the matter was handled with excuses, dismissive behavior, and no meaningful resolution. One manager, Annmarie kGrizzle, minimized the incident as merely “an inconvenience.” I was also hung up on four times after calling the front desk for assistance, forcing me to go to the lobby in person while already distressed.

This experience was unacceptable and far below the standards expected of a property sold on Expedia’s platform. Customers trust Expedia to partner with reputable accommodations that provide basic safety, professionalism, and responsive guest service.

I am requesting Expedia’s immediate intervention regarding:

1. A formal investigation into this stay and hotel conduct.
2. Direct advocacy with the hotel on my behalf.
3. Appropriate compensation and/or refund consideration.
4. Review of whether this property meets Expedia partner standards for guest safety and service.

Pros: The entertainment staff were really super. They remembered our names and we had a lot of fun with them. They were great dancers and made the entire trip better for us. The food was good too and there were many options for us to chose from. The evening entertainment was well done, there were some comedic couples’ games, fun parties and lots of dancing. The neon party was great. The waterpark was not crowded and we enjoyed the slides.

Cons: The beds were very hard… worst beds in a hotel we have ever experienced, and we are small, athletic, fairly frequent travelers. Upon arrival, the shower drain and the left sink in the bathroom were both clogged with a lot of long weave hair, (which was also common in and around the pools, unfortunately.) Our A/C was blowing warm and our first night was at 83° which was awful, even after maintenance came out to fix it in the morning, we never managed to get the room under 73-75° during our 7 day stay. Additionally, there were a lot of drunk people everywhere… in the stairwell near our room between 1-3am stomping and laughing and yelling; this woke us up often. The pool with the swim-up bar was always cloudy by noon and we referred to it as “the pee-pee pool” because there were so may people in it drinking all day and nobody ever left to hit the restroom.

At first glance my room looks spectacular. Later in the night while asleep felt my skin burn and itching with a smell coming from the bedsheets and blankets it was a strong odor of e- cigarettes. It was my worst night of sleep that kept me nervous. Luckily I travel with allergy tablets. Next day I spoke to my attention to have my entire bed sheet and blankets strip and removed from my bed room and she did a thorough job. I applaud her to do a fantastic job and I was so comfortable for the rest of my stay. It was a short stay andI will be back with my friends.The food and bar was good. The staff are pleasant etc. I wish we have some more live shows or entertainment at night. Also, I will give a score of 4.

Wow—what an amazing experience at RIU Montego Bay! My husband and I came here to celebrate our 10-year anniversary ❤️, and it exceeded every expectation.
From the moment we arrived, the service was absolutely on point. Every staff member we encountered was warm, welcoming, and genuinely eager to assist. You can tell they truly care about making your stay special.
The resort itself was beautiful, the atmosphere was vibrant, and everything—from the food to the entertainment—was top-tier. The dancers, the music, the energy… everything just came together perfectly. There was never a dull moment, yet it still felt relaxing and romantic when we wanted it to be.
Even the small details didn’t go unnoticed, and that’s what really made this trip unforgettable.
If you’re looking for a place to celebrate something special or just get away and feel completely taken care of, I highly recommend this resort. We will definitely be back! ✨
