Unfortunately, our stay at this property was beyond disappointing. While the frontline staff (housekeepers, servers, etc.) did their best and were genuinely kind, the management — specifically the hotel manager at the Grand Decameron Montego Bay — was shockingly unprepared, unprofessional, and dismissive. During the storm, instead of providing guidance, reassurance, or even the slightest level of communication, she chose to sit in the lobby scrolling on her phone. Guests who were stressed, confused, and rightfully concerned about the unsafe conditions were essentially ignored.

The condition of our room was completely unacceptable. At first glance it appeared presentable, but the reality was disturbing. The bathroom felt unsanitary and unsafe — a leaking ceiling, large gaps around the door frame, and an overall feeling that cleanliness was not a priority. It was uncomfortable to even use the space.

What was most infuriating was the complete lack of leadership. Tasks that should have been handled by staff and management were left to guests — we literally saw guests sweeping and cleaning common areas themselves because no one was directed or organized to do so. That is absolutely unacceptable at any hotel, let alone one operating under the Wyndham name.

I deeply regret booking this stay. The poor communication, lack of responsibility, and total disregard for guests’ well-being made this experience one of the worst I’ve ever had while traveling. If there is any possibility of

Hotel is pretty rundown unfortunately. No elevators, food was decent 5/10. Staff very friendly. First day we got there hot water wasn’t working but I guess you have to let it run for 5-10 minutes lol. Check-in took pretty long, room wasn’t ready til almost 5pm which was crazy b/c I’ve never experienced that. A lot of shopping markets outside the resort, but make sure you’re with someone.

Hotel was very shabby, the bath and floor in our room had deep dirt marks and the sink was crumbling. Our TV didn’t have a remote and we requested one every day, but we didn't receive one until the night before we left despite being told everyday someone would bring one up. The food was ok, but mostly under or over-seasoned. Beach view was nice and lots of amenities close by.

My room was on sunset side so I watched beautiful sunset from my patio. This is my 2nd stay here. Would recommend. I don’t like the Hip Strip area, too congested and dirty but just my preference. It is convenient though for shopping. Resort is close to airport

We were first placed into a room with no ac after having to walk up flights of stairs. The second room we were placed into the sheets were dirty with stains and the maid didnt even finish her work. Left the pillows in the middle of the bed without pillow cases. No tissue was replaced. Called downstairs no answer. Went downstairs spoke with front desk and no solution at all. Spoke to management said no maids were there and that he would sit the stuff upfront by the time i returned to the resort. Returned to the resort with no one at the front desk nor items for my bed in sight

Purchased spa services , was not able to attend told them more than 24hrs before which they said I would be getting a full refund I have picture and video proof . But then denied it with my bank. The rooms are run down and pieces of furniture are old and the decor is outdated. Does not offer huge amount of variety in terms of food etc. I was expecting better and luxury especially when i leave my home. I've stayed at better all inclusive in Jamaica and with Decameron, u was not impressed. I will not recommend and would not stay there again.

Our stay here was fairly good. Beach was beautiful, had a swim up bar. Some of the staff were great and some were not. They would not give us more than 1 towel and 1 bottle of water for the duration of our stay despite having 3 people in our room and requests for more towels and water. The buffet ran out of food and they were not able to replenish. The hotel is deteriorating a bit since we came years ago. It is sad to see such a nice hotel in decline. During our previous stay several years ago we did not have any of these issues. I would probably recommend if you are looking for a cheap place for a night or two but not for a week long vacation.

The hotel was quiet and the meal options were good. The other section of the hotel called Cornwall Beach was way better though in terms of food options and the modern lobby and coffee station was a wonderful touch. The checking process was not good. I arrived at 2:30 and finally got my room at 5:00. A whole day wasted for such a short trip of just 2 nights. Another thing was that a particular staff member in the snack area was asking for tips which we found inappropriate since we had just stepped foot on the property. We were also rudely awakened by a cockroach on night 2 of our stay this is quickly dealt with by my partner. The beds in the standard rooms were also very hard. We didnt have proper sleep throughout the stay. The days spent at the beach, seeing the views, eating at the Cornwall section of the property made it worthwhile. They need to update the Montego Beach section and get rid of the lenghthy checking in process. It dampens the whole trip.

I wanted to be in the heart of things which is why I chose Grand Decameron. The staff were very nice, even returning my phone after I left it in the room after checkout. The food options were a good mix of Jamaican and other options. The entertainment was very fun and the only thing I might have a complaint is upgrading the rooms. This was, without question, one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I have ever had. From the moment I stepped into the room, I was hit with a stale, moldy odor that made it clear cleanliness was not a priority here but I think house keeping tried their best with what they have which is not much. The floors were damp, the furniture stained the lamps moldy and the bathroom was downright disgusting. The tub was stained, the drain clogged, and the tiles so grimy. I didn’t even feel comfortable standing barefoot. Towels were thin and black shade unusable, damp, and smelled sour, as though they hadn’t been properly washed. Thank god I took a few face cloth from our previous hotel that we were able to use.

The food was equally dreadful. Lukewarm, bland, and clearly low quality, it often looked like it had been sitting out for hours. Breakfast was dreadful I wouldn’t feed half of it to a stray animal.

The only saving grace was the entertainment staff, who were friendly, energetic, and worked hard to keep guests engaged despite the miserable conditions. The bar staff could also be pleasant—but only once you tipped, after which they suddenly became far more attentive.

If you value cleanliness, edible food, and basic hospitality, save yourself the money and the disappointment. No matter how nice the entertainment is, nothing can make up for the filth and poor quality of this hotel. So sad because I use to work at the resort 20 years ago and I was saddened to see the state.

Ive stay at this property a few times. Renovations are coming along. Food was good. The staff was professional. My check in was a little bit longer than usual. My suggestion would be that when a room isn’t ready and a guest is waiting, instead of having the guest come back n forth to check, they should take a contact number or text the guest that the room is ready. This would prevent what I went though. Kept checking, it wasn't ready n sat in the waiting room for an hour longer than necessary because no one told me It was ready at that point.

This was my first experience with an all-inclusive resort so take everything I say with that in mind. First thing I will say is you can’t beat the location of the resort, it’s literally five minutes from the airport which was so nice flying in and just having a 5 minute drive to get to the hotel. Once we got to the resort the staff were so helpful, saw a lot of reviews saying checking in was a nightmare, that wasn’t the case for me, maybe that’s because we flew in mid-week, might be a different story if you fly in during the weekend, but we got to our room within 10 minutes of arriving. The room itself left a lot to be desired, the bathroom especially was not modern at all, the whole room felt like it needed an upgrade, but we decided to deal with it and just tried to spend as much time on the beach as possible. Two things, the smart TVs were not “smart” for some reason, they only let you watch live TV and couldn’t get Netflix or any streaming services, but the A/C in the room was fantastic! One of the best feelings everyday was walking back in the room from the hot sun and feeling that cool A/C when you step in your room. The food was decent, nothing crazy good, just solid, and the serving staff were always nice and accommodating. Overall I’d recommend this resort if you’re on a budget like I was, the location was great, and the entertainment at night was good.

This hotel needs to be completely renovated, cleaned and overhauled all together. The rooms and washrooms were dirty, smelly and the beds were uncomfortable.

The food options were terrible, and the staff was unprofessional and unfriendly. I 100% would not recommend this resort to anyone unless they only want to be by the beach for the sun and sand.

Well well well. Hotel is nice not the best. I have to say most of the staff very nice . I have to give thanks to bartender Keymar and waitress Kayla excellent excellent people. Went far and beyond to make us feel welcome. Hotel needs alot of update. The surrounding area didnt feel comfortable going out. It says hip strip but i didnt see anything hip about it. So we stayed in the resort. We did do a excrusion at Chukka loved it. The live shows were great the entertainers were awesome cant remember all there names Wolfie MJ Blondie and many many more. For the 6 nights I stayed there I had a problem with my ac and would complain every night. They only came and fixed it one time after my ceiling started to sweat because of how humid my room was and then the next day it broke again. I waited for almost an hour waiting for the maintenance guy to look at it again and then the front desk gave up and changed my room. They also are very stingy with the towels, leaving only 1 towel and never replacing the floor one, or I never got one in return. Multiple days I only had lukewarm water to bathe in. The pool and food were alright.

I enjoyed everything about this hotel. Not a large hotel but it had everything I needed. The facilities were very clean and the employees were outstanding. Being on the smaller side most employees recognized me within a day and would always ask how my vacation was going. I was there alone for my 50th birthday. The food was excellent. Shalisa the massage therapist was amazing and very knowledgeable. She was a delight to talk to and her assistants were so accommodating. Every time Shalisa would see me after my massage she would alway come talk to me. Fantastic person. Bartenders were all nice and fun to be around. Pool atmosphere was fun. The sister hotel is also accessible which is right next door. The Cromwell has a coffee shop, and the same accommodation as the Grand. The beach was set up better at the Cromwell but I had no issues with the beach at the Grand. The only downside I saw was maybe a bit outdated but I feel like beach hotels are usually that way. This was not a 5 star resort but a very nice hotel with all the accommodation needed for a Caribbean vacation.

The hotel as a whole needs renovation, the rooms are clean although the towels are dirty, if you are not prepared to eat spicy food I do not recommend it, there is no other option, I complained since it is an all-inclusive and those of us who do not have a culture of eating rich food only eat cheese and salads, the drinks are very good and also the beer, the service staff, most of them always look annoyed although a few are very attentive, the beach is clean and beautiful. But still, because of the price and the problem with the spicy food, I do not recommend it to anyone, especially if you are going with children.el hotel como toal necesita renovación, las habitaciones limpias aunque las toallas empercudida, si no estas preparado para comer picante bo te lo recomiendo no hay otra opción, yo di la queja ya que es un todo incluido y los que no tenemos cultura de comer pucante solo comemos quesos y ensaladas,los tragos muy buenos y también la cerveza, el personal de servicio la mayoría siempre con cara de molestias anque algunas pocas bien atentas,la playa limpia y hermosa .pero igual por el precio y el problema con la comida picante no se lo recomiendo a nadia y mucho mebos si van con niños

Check in started the stay off a bit rocky but most of the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food was amazing!! The rooms are not the best but the views made up for it. I would stay again. Shout out to the front desk supervisor who made things a little more accommodating. I did not get her name but she is a gem! Thank you!!!

Review for Royal Decameron Bay – ⭐☆☆☆☆ (1/5)

I stayed at this hotel for two nights and was very disappointed with the experience.

First, check-in was extremely slow — I didn’t receive my room until minutes to 6:00 PM, which was frustrating after a long day of travel. When I finally got the room, I was shocked at the condition: the bathtub was stained black, the floor had visible grime, and the pillowcases were dirty. I had to request a room change immediately.

The second room was better but still not up to basic standards. Then, to make things worse, on Sunday morning before check-out, I discovered water dripping from the ceiling while I was using the bathroom. It was coming from the upstairs room — completely unacceptable and unsanitary.

Overall, this was a very unpleasant stay. For the price and reputation, I expected much better. I do not recommend staying here and personally give this place a zero rating if that were possible.

The room was nice, very close proximity to the beach. The staff was great, super friendly and kind. The food was not great, pretty abysmal, & when they cleaned my room they did not give me new towels. I asked for towels a few times but never received them. Other than those things I had a great stay.

The rooms were nasty. The towels were nasty. We did not even get face towels. Did not even have hot water. Did not have facial tissues. Did not have an iron. Did not have an ironing board. And the tub was disgusting.
