There were activities for all ages, especially kids which was a great plus. The resort is a bit secluded and we wish there could have been more options for eating. We placed a room delivery order from one of the on site restaurants which did not arrive for more than 90 minutes. I had to go pick it up and the food was cold by then. They were nice enough to give few add ons for free. The resort was may be 25 % occupied and they could have given us a better room, but they gave us a room which was on the farthest side of the building. We stayed for 3 nights so I thought we deserved a bit better.

Booked a room with a full kitchen but from the start the microwave/convection oven didn’t work. Asked for maintenance to come several times, finally came the second day around 5 pm. Was never fixed. Front desk staff is not friendly or helpful. Needed a plunger at 8 pm didn’t get it until the following morning at 9 am, was told rudely that they don’t have access to plungers so we had to go downstairs to the lobby to use the bathroom until it was fixed. It’s run down, but my family enjoys the game room and the ski/tubing area was fun.

They waited until almost 4 pm to check in, and given the bad weather, they could have been more courteous and checked us in earlier. Bowling isn't included in the services. The food on the first day wasn't entirely satisfactory; it was too heavily seasoned, and when you go to a hotel, you're there to relax, not to hear that they're short-staffed. We had to leave the hotel a day earlier than we had booked because of the approaching bad weather.

This place is a dump. The staff was not helpful with the simplest things, like \"where are the vending machines? Which restaurants are open now? May I please have some help with my luggage?\" Don't know, Don't care. Don't care to help. My room was dusty and dirty, there were expired fire extinguishers in the halls. The locks on the doors to the outside had all been removed. Anyone could have come in. It was horrible. And here I was thinking I was going to have a spa day....

I have stayed at many places but I must say this staff was the best I ever had to interact with. This staff was excellent. Had a few small room issues that were taken care of immediately. The place is somewhat dated but very clean. I would give this place a 3.5-4.0 out of 5.0; but, because this staff they definitely deserve a 5.0

My husband and I stayed here for 1 night, wish we had stayed longer! Hotel was so much fun, most of the staff were friendly with the 1 exception in the 2nd floor bar. The bartender was rude and made an absolutely horrible drink (vodka was horrible), we tried to tell him but he wouldn't even look at us even though there was no one else there besides a co-worker of his. We wanted to go the the sports bar but never made it. The indoor pool was great and the lifeguard on duty was very friendly and informative! Can't wait to go back! We won't let 1 bad employee ruin this review - there is always 1 bad apple in the bunch...

the Hotel room was not cleaned only once while we were there for 5 days no clean towels brought changed out Room was musty and halls smelled. One night it was very noisy we did not get any sleep, toilet was almost on the floor and no grab bars to get up which I had chosen. However the Villa Roma dining was excellent food and service! Parking was inconvient for bringing your bags to the hotel had to walk a ways and No bag cart to carry them. I was not impressed with as much the rooms were for as little as they did to accomdate cleaniness

The stay at the resort was very enjoyable. If you book through Orbitz, please call the property and make sure they got your reservation. They had not received ours, but fortunately had a room for us. The room was very large and clean.
The whole resort needs a general make-over, as the facility is a bit dated and used (wallpapers, paints, windows, door locks, showers, etc.), but you can see that this hotel still has a lot of prestige.
The breakfast buffet was excellent, with an omelette station, eggs, bacon etc. and very friendly and helpful waiters in the restaurant.

Happy with our one-night stay. We would come back, should we go back to this area!

Nice, but….

Our kids always have a great time here, but the place needs an upgrade. Twice I have been in the hotel room and it has such a musty smell that my affects my allergies. They try to cover it up with a ton of spray which is also awful. Check-in took forever too. But it is a place where the kids have happy memories, just needs an upgrade.

Villa Roma was probably an immaculate resort destination in its day, but it has been neglected for decades. I do not mind outdated furniture and style, but my room was also not clean.

In their defense, I think they wiped down the sinks and shower, but the room has not had more than a wipe down in many years. There was mildew and dirt in the corners of the bathroom. The mirrors had not been cleaned in recent history, and we would not sit on the chairs or upholstered chairs in the room because they had unidentifiable white smears and various stains. The shower and shower curtain were also stained. The area around the refrigerator was grimy.

Our sheets appeared to be fresh and clean, but we did not feel we could unpack anything onto any surfaces other than the counter, which I cleaned myself. My allergies flared up that night probably due to dust, but I could not identify any other source.

I have traveled quite extensively and have stayed in youth hostels, huts in international national parks and cave hotels, but Villa Roma ranks in the Top 5 Worst overnights. We had the opportunity to extend our stay and opted to leave early. We did not want to spend another night at this hotel and certainly not at the $289/night the hotel was charging because they were hosting an event that week.

If the resort hosts the same event again, I would not stay in the hotel even if that entails an hour drive.

This place is definitely dated. Halls stink, beds were uncomfortable, walls were so thin you could hear everything and I mean word for word, the AC does not stay on which helped w the noise, the doors dont properly shut without locking them and the worst part of all was the front desk gave a key to my room to a drunk friend of mine along with 2 other people- did not ask for any ID etc. They did not call me to verify if she was a guest-so Im getting undressed as the drunk friend and company let themselves in. Thank God it wasnt a stranger or predator but the staff had no idea whethere they were or not. I would not stay there again.

While the overall property has an air of 50s charm it really needs an updo. The staff was the shining star. Lovely and helpful. The room was terrible with an actual key for the door. They seemed to be redoing some rooms near that one so here’s to hoping that room was next. The parking is a bit inconvenient but doable. The place is REMOTE. That means your food options are what they are. Not bad but limited. They need to clean out their fountain soda machine and tubing. Pools were all clean and well kept. For an escape with some amenities and on a budget this is not bad. Also great proximity to Bethel Woods for concerts which was our purpose for staying there.

The property’s outdoor facilities and amenities were excellent. Shows were enjoyable. The facility is kid friendly which was great for my trip. Room was large but outdated. The air conditioner was on top of the bed which was very uncomfortable with air blowing right on top of you. The room supposedly slept 5 but there were only two beds.

The hotel A/C was not working prroperty. The overall room was very run down looking. The hotel door key didn't work and did not lock correctly. The wait time in the Garden Cafe was over an hour, The waitress was wonderful put needed more help. Pool need to be be drained due to run over from a near by pond, losing a full hot day of pool time. Over all the place is in need of a sprucing up.

To start off we check in and they gave us a room that was never cleaned, to resolve the problem they gave us keys to a new room with a whole family still in it that we walked in on. They had nothing but excuses and staff was not friendly at all. Finally a manager put us in a room that came with one less bed then we booked but an uncomfortable pull out couch and a kitchen about 5x5 that we had no intention on using anyway. About 75 percent of the things they have advertised were not even open during our stay. FYI indoor pool wasn’t open at all.

The hallways were lined with broken air conditionera and the rug was disgustingly dirty. Food was mediocre to poor. Entertainment was terrible - the only one that was half-way decent was Gemini (magician/ventriloquist but his show was too short. Rooms on 4th floor were outdated and needs to be done over. Prices for dinner shows/events were high and not worth the price. This was my 3rd time there and its probably my last very disappointed. Most of the staff was pleasant and friendly however one particular woman bartender was rude - don't know her name but she had red hair and tattoos - waitress and waiter for breakfast/lunch were wonderful Adelite and Christian were marvelous - Pool and pool area is kept nice and clean and the lobby is beautiful but on a whole it needs a lot of work and get rid of whoever your chef/cook is - phones in room did not work, limited selection in gift shop
overall I was very disappointed on this trip to your resort

This place was probably great in its heyday, a cruises ship on land. I booked last minute labor day and wasnt' expecting too much. The grounds are nice. The pools are old but still fun, nice they have a bar and and music. There are things to do. I think for small kids or letting your middle school kids wonder it is good. Everything is run down but there are sports courts, bowling, bouncy houses all included in the price. The arade is terrible, also run down. We only ate breakfast there and it was acceptable for the 12 dollar price. We didnt' go to any shows but given how few people were there, it probably was a bit sad. Plus is there is a bar on the room level and plenty of seating to hang with friends. The ice cream shop is popular. The room was two beds adjoined by another room with a fold out couch. The bathroom was ancient but roomy. There was trash under the beds and dressers. Old clothes stuck in the pullout. No sheets for the pull out unless you call. They had a mini fridge unsecured on a table. It almost fell on my ten year old and we kept our toddler far away. This wasn't the only safety issue we saw and while the lobby was clean, the bathrooms were not. Turnover service was sloppy. I think the place is just too run down to operate and the safety issues are a big concern. Again, it was probably cool long ago. There is a restaurant called Lorenzo's in Jefferson worth checking out for breakfast.

Pretty much out dated. There was a bucket in the middle of the room catching water . Most of the stuff was out of service . Rooms werent cleaned so well . Asked the person cleaning the rooms tonchange my bed sheets that we spilled water on accidentally, he never cjanged them but told us he did. They were soaked into the night. Staff was super nice. But the place needs a desperate up keep.

I'm doing a chargeback on my credit card. No hot water for all 3 days, this is a \"crack and hookers\" motel but resort size. What a disgusting dump. I hated this place. So outdated, filthy and disgusting. The place was outdated by the 1970's. The pictures on the wall, the gift shop, the whole place is just so desperate and gross. Ownership and management do not take pride in their jobs and it shows. I wouldn't wish this place on my worst enemy's worst enemy. The health department would and should condemn this \"resort\" and it should be closed and torn down. The tennis, \"golf\" and pool facilities are disgusting, there's mold everywhere. My room was so filthy and outdated. Just gross. Please don't stay here. I beg you, this is the most depressing \"resort\" I've seen. Yuck.

I was a little nervous about staying at Villa Roma due to the other reviews. I chose this place for the proximity and availability to go Bethel Woods. This place is a family resort with pools and such, which i did not utilize. The lobby looks nice but the rest of the hotel is dumpy. It has a smell in the hallways that is unpleasant It is very outdated, which doesn't bother me, but cleansliness does. I immediately inspected for bed bugs and the mattress looked fine, i saw nothing like that. But Villa Roma do yourself a favor and get zipped mattress covers for your own protection! I was a little grossed out that the only thing between the sheet and the mattress was a flimsy pad. The linens were so old and used they had a tint to them, they may be clean but its hard to tell. I brought my own blanket and pillow and was glad i did. Please get some new sheets and bed linens, it would improve the room by a lot. There was also only 1 outlet behind the nightstand that I saw. In this day and age with electronics, you should have something more available. Bring a power strip if you stay here
The bathroom is institutional and old, but clean except the shower curtain was skeevy.
The positive things are the outside is nice and there are tables and to sit at. It is relatively easy to find and 20 min from BW
Would I stay here again? possibly, there are not many options in the area. If they got new sheets it would improve my rating by a lot.

Uniqueness: repeat guests coming for years - appears that families come annually. The place is secluded & there's not much around so prepare to eat at the hotel or travel by car for at least 15 minutes to get to another place & they close early. We stayed from Tuesday to Friday so shows were limited & activities announced like karaoke didn't happen. Activities like archery that were advertised also did not happen. The indoor pool was closed when the outdoor pool was open and pool hours were short ended at 7pm which is too early started at 9am. The staff at the front desk did not have accurate information regarding activities & the phone in our room wasn't working to call lobby with questions or for assistance. The hotel seems a little run down, carpets appear dingy. We paid $24 combined per person to go on go carts & bumper boats two rides which were brief. At least the bumper boats were fun & we were able to stay on as long as we wanted. The juggling show was great but we didn't get to eat that night as we were told we wouldn't have enough time to eat & get to the show on time & after show we were told take out orders at the hotel were too many to handle (after 10 pm it's take out orders only they close at 11pm). Nothing else was available so plan accordingly. There is a refrigerator in the room but no microwave. Overall we had fun. We got to see deer on our walk around the property, the band they had at martys lounge was great & we even danced. Not sure I'll come bac

Service is very much below average. The guests are being made running around the circles to get the simple things like dinner on the property. Some of the policies were outright strange. We were there on July 4th weekend and the resort was understaffed and underprepared. It could be better if they got their business together and cleaned up and hired more customer-oriented staff. And smells like wet rugs throughout the entire place. Regulars are calling it “the Villa Rome smell”.

The property needs upgrading and deep cleaning. It was probably really quaint about 25 years ago. I felt some nostalgia being there but the room smelled musty and the carpets needed cleaning as well as the grout in the bathroom. The area where the pool tables and games were was also very musty smelling. The pool tables needed to be fixed as the felt on one was ripped and the other table kept the balls from moving properly from underneath. We had to lift the tables to get the balls. The food upstairs was very expensive and not that good. On the cafe, our breakfast was better. The wait staff was very friendly. It was nice to see security walking around the building as well. The gym building was old and dirty. The parking lot was broken up and a falling hazard . This could be a lovely destination but they need a good maintenance and construction crew to get it that way.

Upon my arrival at the resort the front desk staff left a lot to be desired. Maybe since it was a bit late they were tired but I received a very luke warm welcome. The tone was dour and it didn't make me feel like I wanted to stay. Thankfully the rest of the time there was nice, outside of the rainy weather. We didn't get to take advantage of the outdoor activities because nothing seemed to be happening. They gave out printed lists of activities, most of which weren't of interest to my family. The food and staff at the Roman Garden Cafe made our stay worth it, especially Julia!

Staff were not responsive to needs (asked for more in-room coffee 4 times in 4 hours and never received any-had to call again in the morning and finally got results). Main DR prices were high and they don't advertise the menu until you are seated. Cafe was decent and food was good. Noisy hallways and upstairs guests-must not be much noise insulation between floors. Would not stay again.

Went on a Friday, Saturday schedule and most of the family activities were closed. Did not justify the resort cost paid. Average hotel rooms.

I was there off season, so outdoor pool areas were closed, but the indoor one was open. The hot tub is very good, however the pool was too chilly to go right in. They need to raise the heater at least 5 degrees. The hotel had nightly entertainment that was very good.The staff is friendly, the hotel lobby is beautiful, the rooms need updating, but for the one of the last one of the operating Catskill Hotels, it was nostalgic.

Dirty bathrooms, room not ready, pool was was too overcrowded, major safety concern, pictures are false advertisement on orbitz and their website, Josh the manager was unprofessional as I called asking for a refund because we were not staying in a falsely advertised place, he refused to refund my money, which I know he absolutely can. I would not let a stray dog stay here. Again false advertising on the website, it does not look lile this AT ALL!

They had the nerve to charge 300.00 for a room. The place might have been decent in 1950. Mold in bathroom awful smell in rooms. Stains all over carpet. Tiny tv didn't work. They were going to make us wait till next day i asked for another room and that was just as gross. Help very pleasant. They should pay guezt to stay there

Although the lobby and grounds were beautiful, the room was outdated with large stains on carpet and beds that should have been replaced years ago. The room smelled of mildew. The hot tub had paint literally peeling off everywhere. They were disorganized and had wrong hours listed for dining room. Overall, I was disappointed.

We pulled up no one helped us with the bags. We unloaded the car ourselves. And upon leaving dragged them down ourselves. My biggest complaint is that the hotel is geared for time sharing and the hotel guests are not important. The pool is a big issue. Time sharers get up early and reserve the chairs in the pool area. By 9:10am there is no where to sit. Rows and rows of tables and chairs with \"reserved towels and coolers\" They get up early and take over the whole pool area. Most of the lounges did not have \"bodies\" on them and there were not 350 people in the pool. The late night shows (9:30pm) were filled with babies, toddlers and stollers. No cocktail service. Go get your own or bring your own. The outside activities are geared for very young children. Do not buy the inclusive package, if it rains you are out of luck. This morning the pool was closed because it was cold and the indoor was closed as well. The Cesar dinner was nice and the wait staff was also nice but we went out for the other dinners. I would not go back. I like to be able to sit at the pool.

Check in and cafe staff members were very nice. Rooms were very outdated, and the air conditioner had a buildup of dust and dirt. Hallways and room had an unpleasant odor. Sketchy vibe. On a positive note, the outdoor amenities were nice. All in all, I would not stay here again, and the room was not at all worth the price

Nice outdoor pool. Very short hours for amenities, shortest I’ve even seen, pools close 8, gym 5. Some amenities are only 3-5 hours like zip line & boats. The property is extremely outdated. It looks like it hasn’t been renovated in 50 years. The dinner food was very overcooked and now worth the $55pp (it’s included for all inclusive guests). The cafe on the 1st floor was great and the ladies working there / the Starbucks were great. Bowling alley was also extremely old & outdated. Only thing that was lovely was the outdoor pool, loungers and jacuzzi. We didn’t even get to see the indoor pool as it was closed each time we went, they are short staffed so all the guards were outside. The fish in the pond were lovely, with a nice playground. Zip lining was also fun but very low - geared towards little kids.

We booked a 2 bedroom suite got to the property around 3 pm they won’t give us the room until 4pm because we booked from Expedia went back at 3:55pm they said 4pm not even 5 mins before the staff was very rude had no knowledge of anything within or around the property they were not busy but just kept talking with each other rather than helping the customers worst checking in experience especially when your traveling with 2 kids would not recommend staying here horrible staff horrible property.
