The hotel was one of the better places we have ever stayed. The building was spectacular, the grounds and setting were amazing, and the location was great. Our only regret was the experience level of the Front Desk and Valet staff which resulted in several frustrating valet and shuttle service experiences. Otherwise, the Restaurant and cleaning staff were excellent, and the room was great. We would highly recommend this property to other travelers.

Disappointing Service and Subpar Rooms: Not a 4-Star Experience

We were shocked by the lack of luxury at Edgewood Tahoe. While the common areas are beautiful, the guest experience and room quality are closer to a 3-star level.

The room amenities were significantly outdated (early 2000s decor) and lacked basic comfort. Our mattress was lumpy and the towels were incredibly rough—comparable to sandpaper. Furthermore, for a luxury resort, seeing cheap plastic soap dispensers screwed into the shower walls like a budget gym was disappointing.

The biggest issue, however, was the staff training. We were initially placed in a room with non-functional USB ports and no complimentary water. That night, we were kept awake by high-pitched shrieking from a neighboring room for over an hour. When we alerted security, they were unhelpful, suggesting we \"use earplugs\" for a noise that was clearly audible through walls and for recordings. When I politely asked to be moved so my family could sleep, the front desk attempted to guilt-trip me before very reluctatantly moving us.

Communication is also non-existent between shifts. I spent hours trying to move a breakfast reservation, being bounced between a front desk that \"couldn't help\" and a concierge that had already left. Messages weren't passed on, and notes weren't kept. For the price point, the hospitality is severely lacking. I would not recommend this resort to friends or family.

Definitely not what I would expect from a 5-star resort charging close to $1,000 per night. Overall, the stay felt extremely overpriced for what was provided.

1) Food & Dining
The food was decent but far too expensive for the quality and portions. Dining options were also very limited.

2) Housekeeping Issues
Housekeeping was consistently poor. Upon arrival, I found trash near the bed (including a sleeping earbud and plastic pieces), as well as a dirty, used glass placed back as if it were clean. I turned the glass upside down to highlight the issue, yet the next day it was returned to the rack unchanged.

After complaining, the hotel offered a complimentary bottle of champagne with a personal card, which was a thoughtful gesture. Unfortunately, even one of the champagne glasses was dirty, so I gave up! I was also given a towel that smelled like it had never been washed, as if it came straight from the factory.

3) Ongoing Cleanliness Concerns
On a daily basis, it felt like housekeeping was cutting corners, which was evident in the room, carpet, and replenished supplies. This level of service is not acceptable for a 5-star hotel or a $1,000-per-night rate.

4) Staff Experience
Most staff were friendly, including the shuttle drivers. Some valet staff and many waitstaff were less welcoming.

Advice to Managers
Do frequent housekeeping spot checks. Also adjust prices or give dining credits or something. A $20 complementary champaign is not enough to fix this mess, I'm sorry.

The hotel is very nice but as far as our room, the bed and pillows were really uncomfortable and the smoke detector had a bright light shining down on my face all night so I didn’t sleep well. We had the temp set to 65 but I don’t think it was working because I was hot all night. For the money it costs, I wouldn’t stay here again.

First, let me start by praising the staff. They were simply following inept rules…like asking if I had reservations when 50 tables were empty and then they placed us at the worst location…or turning us away because I had (really expense) shorts, Hawaiian shirt and shoes (not sandals) but then let a different couple in when the woman had basically the same outfit on that I did, and WE WERE STAYING AT THE RESORT!!!!
Said screw this and saved money and had a whole lot more fun at local recommended sites for breakfast, lunch, and dinner…
Final straw was out last day there. After having spend $1200+ on a couples spa the day before (highly recommended!!!!), I was approached on the last three, and famous, holes on the course (16-18) and told to pick up the pace…wait, the group in front of us was keeping us held up but we weren’t complaining. Nope, it was the group behind us that were a bunch of regulars and then we only saw them twice and that was on the front nine! After rushing through the holes that run along the Tahoe shoreline, the group behind us silly-dallied and we’re 2 full holes behind us.

What an incredible resort! The location is perfect, right on the lake feels like in the most remote area yet minutes from everything. The shuttle can take you anywhere within the area. The resort and grounds itself is spectacular. I’ve never experienced such a 5 star caliber resort that caters to families/children. So many activities and things to do on the grounds. The rooms are very spacious! The beds and pillows are a bit hard but that would be the only thing. 10/10 would absolutely come back and stay longer!

From the moment you arrive the staff make every effort to make sure you’re relaxed, informed and enjoying the resort. Check in is smooth, plenty of information and a welcome glass of champagne. Room was an excellent size with great views and a patio. I come twice a year to Edgewood. They would not upgrade the room or price match even though there were rooms available and I overpaid. They were very inflexible in that aspect. Also I asked for a later check out. We were dining at the restaurant. They said they didn’t do late checkouts then eventually said ok. For the price you pay it’s nice to get an upgrade from time to time. They have yet to do so.

Edgewood has been on my bucket list for some time. It is no wonder this hotel has a Michelin star - the grounds are absolutely stunning, met against an idyllic backdrop of lake and mountains. Wow!

We enjoyed the two restaurants a great deal. Both are exquisite: one is an elevated sports bar overlooking the golf course and lake, with delicious fare. The second, the Bistro, a more refined experience with lovely cuts of meat and truffle-infused mashed potatoes. The service in both places is on point. Full stop.

Our hotel room, however - we stayed in one of the lake view rooms - was highly disappointing: the furniture is clunky, outdated, and too-old for luxury comfort, the amenities are very scant - like embarrassingly scant - and the overall layout and aesthetic was just negelected. This is an example of bad design, textile selection, and layout.

Conversely, the lobby and hotel grounds give lux, fashion, now, and have very very chic furniture - wow!

We must also mention the pool and jacuzzi (the largest I've ever been in), the fireplaces, elegant fire pits and smores, & loungers. Again, just stunning.

Our experience of Edgewood's lodging was not a luxurious one. Anyone who appreciates Belmond, Rosewood, Oberoi, Taj, and others will tell you that immediately. However, the hotel's grounds elevate the space to world-class standards, this much is true. But to say the hotel rooms are anything over 4-stars is unfair to bonafide 5-star lodging.
