Sadly this was not the experience we hoped for & expectations were already low going into the stay as we knew this was not a 4 or 5 star accommodation. When we arrived on Tuesday afternoon there was no valet or bell desk, one person working the check in & the line was 20 people deep. Lots of “managers” walking around saying “thank you for your patience”. It would have been more helpful if they jumped behind the desk & actually did something to speed up the process. Hotel was out of soap in all the common bathrooms, broken elevators for a fully booked week, odd! Overall the hotel is poorly maintained & under staffed. Tried the fancy restaurant, Maestros, & waited an hour for drinks.

This hotel is on the borderline a budget hotel in regards to the room. The upgrade stated are just cosmetic not functional. The bathtubs are still original in the upgraded room. Be careful and check your bed linens first. This casino is owned by Tillman Fertitta
The pricing of food is reasonable, but to pay $300 per night it’s not worth it

My stay was okay only because i was on hold with the front desk for over an hour and finally just had to walk downstairs to speak to someone about a late check out but there was no front desk staff. I also had to chase down a housekeeper to get toilet paper also because I couldn't get anyone on the phone. But besides that my stay was great and the pool was lovely.

We could not control the room temperature and then the toilet overflowed. When trying to get another room we were asked to pay a higher daily resort fee. After negotiating with the manager we were able to maintain the current fee. In addition, because we could not get into the room for most of the day, the manager agreed to not charge for one day's resort fee. Karen was a desk agent we would like to thank personally for all her assistance and expertise.

This information is not disclosed when I booked the hotel plus when I checked the representative didn't tell me either until when I checked my credit card transaction, I found out the amount is over charged so I stopped by the front desk to ask.

Small property, so not many choices for food and coffee. Staff not the most friendly, but I have to say the spot team did amazing replacing carpet, and installing new cabinets on the floor! Room was ok but was right next to elevators so kind of noisy..bathroom is really small. Get upgraded rooms if you want nice. Otherwise room was decent. Just don't use the side tables to bed, or they may just fall over. Lol

Room air conditioning was not working. Several calls for service with no answer. After last call, Facilities finally came, adjusted thermostat (which I tried several times before myself), and left. Continued to call, no answer. Went to front desk..staff said they couldn't do anything except send a fan. Didn't receive the fan until 1030pm, after several calls to front desk. Slept in a very warm room. Following morning, talked to Kyla at front desk. She listened and was helpful with helping us move to a different room with working air conditioning. Also had difficulty with housekeeping when requested addl towels, trash bags, coffee and cups...several calls and visit to front desk...never received requested items. Based on this experience, will look into other hotels in area. We will not stay here again. So disappointed in the quality of stay at this Nugget location.

The carpet leading into the bathroom was frayed. The wall paper above the shower was peeling. There was NO refrigerator or microwave. Coffe service in the morning was deplorable. The parking card never worked so we had to call for help to leave parking lot 3 times we left the property. Our door key wasn’t keyed right and had to return twice!

We have stayed at the Golden Nugget before and were surprised that things were still kind of torn up. The lobby area is very nice and a definite improvement. Our room was the same basic, boring room we've had before...actually almost seemed like the EXACT same room (but it wasn't). The pool is very nice but that is the only \"amenity\" we took advantage of. Parking was super frustrating! On top of having to pay $22 a day for parking the parking \"key\" NEVER worked! I even went back to front desk to inquire and was told she \"thought it was fixed\" and gave me a new \"key\". That one didn't work either. We had to call to talk with a person to let us out of the lot every time. The hotel is definitely just okay. Probably will look to stay elsewhere on our next visit.

Property was very clean and well-maintained. There was ample parking (for a daily fee of $22). One gripe was the parking cards did not work most of the time which meant we had to use the call box to get out and then pull a ticket upon re-entry. That was very irritating especially when you are paying to park. The casino was very well laid-out and the casino staff was professional. We did not use the pool (but of course charged $32 daily for the “resort fee.” Last complaint was that our minor request was regular coffee pods for the room because they gave us decaffeinated. It took 6 requests and two days just to get 4 coffee pouches. Finally, the front staff was cordial but they need more personnel as they appeared to be short-staffed. Even with some of the minor inconveniences , I would return for a stay.

Valet parking attendant wasn’t there . They had to call security but waited long time however they were very nice . Hotel has lots of construction so made it hard . We experienced so many issues during our stay, including a broken elevator (1 of 2), needing to call support twice due to parking exit gate not functioning, no follow through of staff when we requested more coffee pods for the room (despite requesting in person due to the room phone not working). The \"lakefront\" room I paid extra for was really a parking lot front room with a sliver of lake when you stood in the corner of the room. Just a consistently poor experience throughout our stay.

The check in staff did an amazing job, however there were only 3 staff at 4:45 (check in started at 4) and the line was huge with multiple issues as it seems the property was sold out and some third party sites had oversold rooms so it took around 45 minutes to actually get checked in. Our room was in the back tower and while the room was very clean and comfortable there was only one working elevator for the whole tower during our stay. We were on the 4th floor and were able to swing stairs when needed but it was very inconvenient. The gym facilities were very clean and the equipment was fantastic as was the cafe downstairs for coffee and breakfast.

The rooms are old. They’re slightly upgraded but the bathrooms are not. The shower water was either scalding hot or ice cold. The sink drain was broken. The bathroom was dirty, body hair everywhere, and the towels were all stained. I asked them to come and clean the bathroom and bring all new towels and they did. I had an issue with getting a key to one of my rooms and they were so rude. The pool area has zero shade. They don’t even have umbrellas. They have cabanas you can rent for $100 on weekdays or $150 on weekends which seems steep but you end up with no choice cause there are no other options. Half of the staff don’t speak English. The customer service was terrible. I will not be staying here again.

Worst Hotel I have stayed in over 30 years. My rooms where dumps. First room had a severally cracked tub and more water ran out the tub faucet then the shower head. Room had not been cleaned properly. Dust on everything and not a light dust but a very heavy dust covering. Hotel moved us after complaint about the inadequate room. The second room had no heat. Just cold air blowing out of the furnace. The entrance door striker plate fell of when we entered the room! They did come and reinstall the door strike. Room was another dump. Massive construction remodel was going on with the property but the construction crews started at 7am with Jack hammers. Will never stay at another nugget casino again.

This was by far the worst hotel experience we've had. The rooms were terrible. Run down , dirty, falling apart and not working and lamps had broken switches or just missing so not working at all. At first we got a room and the AC was not working. The room was at 80 degrees and the compressor apperstly wasn't working so the maintance staff said that it would take too long to fix the unit so just to asked to be moved. So we hauled all of our items back down to the lobby and told them about the issue. Then we got another room and it was worst. The AC unit was falling off the wall, the toilet bowl was dirty with what seem was actual dirt and permanently stained , the bathroom corners were falling apart too and even the bathtube was stained and dirty. So we then later in the day went back to the lobby and explained the issues again. They then said we could move again this time to the new tower. Which was further out of the main lobby and at that point we were just too tired and too upset at the thought of again hauling ALL of our luggage again for a third time so we just kept the horrible room. I would not recommend this hotel at all for anyone. They said they were updating it soon but still are having people stay in these horrible rooms.

The original room we were placed in was old ..after starting the unpacking process I went into the bathroom , I looked at the bathtub and could not believe they would think it was ok to have guests stay, it was so disgusting, FILTHY, rotted out, damaged tub.. would never have put my feet in it…I had my husband take photos and we repacked immediately and Called front desk.. they said to come down and they’d give us a new room. We showed them photos and , to their credit they changed our room to new all remodeled wing, beautiful room, absolutely beautiful. But the hassle of dealing with it was a pain. Why is this old portion even used in the first place? I would be very hesitant to stay and make sure I was put in new remodeled building if I ever found myself there again. But new remodeled room was perfect, beautiful, amazing bathroom, comfortable bed, just a wonderful room all in all.

Stayed in one of the renovated rooms with a balcony. The room was very comfortable, clean, and attractive. It looked like the pictures online. The balcony was less desirable. The door was not a great sound barrier and did not match the aesthetic of the room. The furniture was basic. They are going under heavy construction at the moment, hence the amazing price I paid for it. I could hear the majority of the noise through the door. My view was of the pool and facing the majority of the resort so the noise was a little loud but I wasn’t in the room much anyway. Overall I’m happy with my stay considering I paid a very reasonable price for it. The bell man was so sweet and quick. I’m glad I used him to help me with my luggage. Oh! And even though they are doing construction in the casino, the oyster bar is open! My fav spot to eat when I’m in south tahoe.

The Golden Nugget sits only two blocks from the Nevada/California state line. It's super conviently located right by all the hustle and bustle of the Lake Tahoe area. As you probably guessed by its name, it's also a casino, with a few restaurants to choose from right at the property. The room I stayed in was one of the best hotel rooms I've ever stayed, period! It was comfortable, spacious, super clean, quiet, the bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was great too! My only issue with this hotel was that parking wasn't free, so they give you a parking scanning card to come in and out of the parking lot. However, my card kept malfunctioning over and over again! I had to visit the front desk to complain about it, only for the front desk person to tell me \"Oh it's been fixed.\" But it wasn't!! Time and time again, I had to keep pushing the \"Help\" button to get someone to open the gate bar so I could leave or enter the property--quite annoying!! They also charged me for an early check-in, which I guess is quite common for most hotels theses days, but just be aware of. I only tried the small coffee shop by the lobby to get a turkey sandwich and a drink, and it was very mediocre and expensive. There's so many eating options nearby, I'd just go there (and save some $$). Overall, I'd recommend this hotel for its convenenient location and room comfort. Lake Tahoe has a lot to offer to the visitor and this is a great base point to start your \"adventure\".

Well unfortunately I always liked that property but this time we got a room that was not remodeled over the Memorial Day weekend. when I checked in I asked for a floor that was remodeled into the new GN but I was told it was sold out. while staying their bathroom issues toilet not working flushing even the nice Mint-man had to apologies for the room the bathroom sink you had either freezing cold water or burning your hand hot was not able to adjust. so, when we checked out, I talked to the lady at front desk she was the only one on duty i told her my experience and requested that resort fees be removed of my bill. she apologist and said no problem I went upstairs to get my stuff and came back down and asked for the receipt and what a great coincidence the printer was not working. she said I will email you the receipt got home no receipt no email. called the golden nugget lake Tahoe and was transferred around no one at front desk would pick up the phone. left a message with the operator for a manager to call me back. crickets no call yet. at this point hoping this place will do away with the old and in with new staff. that does not lie to the guests. all other staff was great except the front desk girls should not be working front desk non trustworthy with a fake demeanor on there face.

The room key cards repeatedly failed. The hotel was undergoing remodeling and construction, but this was not disclosed at the time of booking. Only one elevator was operational during our stay. Bait and switch. Our reservation was quoted at $215 and somehow ended up at $280 after all the added fees.

The Golden Nugget is the Spirit Airlines of hotels — they charge you for everything: $25 parking, $25 for early check-in (even one minute before 4pm), $40 resort fees, late checkout fees...

What made it worse was the check-in experience. They force everyone to wait until exactly 4pm, so naturally a large line forms all at once. I arrived at 2pm and they wouldn’t let me into the room a minute early unless I paid extra. By 4pm, I stood in line nearly 30 minutes while only two front desk employees handled the crowd.

It completely changed the tone of the trip. I wanted this stay to feel special, but the hotel experience took away from that.

The room itself felt tired and outdated, and the water pressure was deplorable. And the air conditioning unit in the room sounded like a hamster wheel on steroids.

With the number of hotel choices available in the Tahoe area, I wouldn’t stay here again.

First of all, the rooms are false advertisement. The room I booked looked nothing like the room we got. It was old, smell humid, nothing worked in that room. The tv didn’t work, the shower was leaking, the hair dryer didn’t work. We stayed at room 828. Will never go back. The staff and the receptionist were no help. They did nothing to accommodate that the room smelled and it was so old. This hotel does have a remodel tower called the Sunrise side maybe the rooms are better in that tower. Horrible experience!!!
