This was my first time staying in an apartment-style hotel in Manchester city centre. I have visited the city many times and stayed in several four-star hotels before, but this one stands out for its excellent location.

The hotel has dedicated parking in the building next door, which is convenient. However, the car navigation was a little confusing as it seemed to direct us into a bus-only lane. The staff kindly guided us on how to reach the car park from another direction.

The room was spacious and very clean, and the staff were warm and friendly. On the first night we didn’t know how to adjust the thermostat, so the room felt quite warm and stuffy. The next morning the front desk quickly arranged for someone to help us adjust it, and we slept very well the following night.

Breakfast was included in our booking and the service was excellent. It’s not a buffet – you order from the menu with one hot dish and one pastry or bread option (such as a croissant or toast), while tea and coffee are unlimited. The quality of the breakfast was very good.

I mentioned we were celebrating a birthday when booking, but there were no special arrangements. Also, the jacuzzi next to the pool was under maintenance, which was a little disappointing as we couldn’t use it.

However, it did not affect our overall experience. Special thanks to Rick from front desk who was very friendly, helpful and professional. I would happily return for another birthday stay in the future.

A few slight disappointments

Tried to charge us a different amount to the original booking, so caused us a bit of a challenge, fortunately I had the print out of the booking.

One of our Towels was very dirty still, so had to request another.

Then the morning of our check out the maid was knocking on our door at 8am to clean the room, although we had a do not disturb tag on the handle.

Great room, beautiful breakfast. Check in was a bit hectic as there were 2 people complaining about things that hadn’t been rectified before the rush at 4pm. Felt like our check in was rushed and not much info was given (eg use key card in lift, breakfast times, how to reserve a breakfast time etc). Shampoo, shower gel and handwash really good stuff, could’ve done with a conditioner but no big deal. Hairdryer was great! Overall fantastic stay, just knocked a star off due to check in.

The location was great.

The room was lovely but a couple of things:
- The lighting situation in the room was annoying. The light switches were just over complicated.
- There were no light bulbs in the bedside lights and we asked for some to be fitted and they never done it.

The amenities in the room were great.

The breakfast was good. Table service. A good selection.

For the price I paid, I cannot complain. The breakfast was by far the best I've ever had at a hotel. Table service (seated menu), generous sizing and excellent options for vegans.

The receptionist staff were all incredibly friendly.

The apartment room was stocked perfectly- with some complimentary dishwasher tablets and a washer dryer with some laundry tablets included so that I could leave at the end of my stay with all clothes washed and dried.

The pool was a little on the cold side and the jacuzzi was out of action one evening, but the pool area was beautiful - modern and we had it to ourselves most of the time.

This is the 3rd time I've been to his hotel and I will absolutely be back again.

Fantastic location for the city centre. Just a 5 mins walk.

I cannot recommend this hotel enough

Relative close to city, very clean and I love the fact that they have attention to details for comfort, i am very sensitive to noise and lights and they even put a stickers over oven lights and i slept really well. Very modernised set up and quiet. I forgot to bring swim wear but there is a swimming pool and jacuzzi which looked really good.

I will definitely be back.

At the time of writing the review I hadnt had breakfast. The rooms are modern and very clean. I thought the bed & pillow were hard but everyone is different. The coffee machine was tempremental, maybe put more coffee& tea bags so we can use the good old traditional kettle.

Exceptionally comfortable stay, the room is very big, with comfortable bed, and big bathroom.
There is nespresso, fridge, washing mashine and dishwasher.
Kitchennete is well equipped.
Everything is clean and modern.
Breakfast is amazing, not usual buffet, but a la carte, exceptionally tasty, well presented and the portions are huge.
Great location, right in the city centre with a lot to see, shops food places, 8 min walking from Victoria Station,
We were attending concert at AO Arena, it was 5 min walking.

Highly recommended, this hotel will definitely be my first choice if I am coming back to Manchester.

This block's facilities are pretty worn including the locks that didnt work on the changing rooms in the pool side, a worn gym and general facilities in the apartment were looking their age. Given the cost it doesnt represent ths best valuenfor money

Great location and the breakfast was really good.

Few cleaning issues, clumps of hair on the floor and in the shower. But generally really clean, it was only a single night stay for a concert. The dishwasher was broken, forgot to mention this on checkout.

Facilities are really good at the location with a pool, parking was steps away and partners with Q-Park for a discount.

I think this was a perfectly average hotel stay. FYI if you are American and think you're getting a king size mattress you are NOT-apparently their king is the size of our queen, which was very disappointing due to some miscommunication/what I would call false advertising from photos and what's listed on the room ad. I think the room itself had most amenities but was disappointed that the USB plugs did not work and that they provide shampoo but not conditioner. The towel warmer was nice, but I wish there was a guide for the appliances because it's impossible to understand what the symbols mean without a user guide. Like I said, nothing really \"wrong\" per se but nothing \"wow\" either. Concierge staff was nice enough but not particularly helpful or knowledgeable about the city or places to go etc. Overall bang average hotel stay that will be fine.

Overall, OK, but only after we moved rooms. The first apartment had no desk, no desk light, broken door bolt, one dining chair (4 nights sharing a dining chair would’ve been tricky) and no bedside lights.

We asked to move rooms and that took 45 mins, we received no apology, neither was anything offered for the inconvenience caused.
The second apartment had no coffee table so drinks had to sit on the floor. The TVs did not have Sky HD+ plus and we had to use a fire stick to watch TV because the aerial did not work.

The room wasn’t clean, the rug needed vacuuming, dirty duvet and filthy oven. I wiped the floor in the kitchen and the cloth was black, obviously not mopped for a while

There was a general lack of maintenance: the dishwasher needed salt & rinse aid, and the washing machine had a cleaning symbol.

The ironing board collapsed whilst ironing and would not click into the upright position so my husband nearly severely burned himself.

On the second day, a cleaner knocked to ask if I was checking out as the room was down to change that day? I checked with reception that the room was allocated for a further 2 days and was assured it was.

However, on my return, the keycard did not work, and I had to go to reception again. There was no apology for having to return again.

The pool was not overly warm but jacuzzi good.

For what we paid it was not a great experience and we won't be returning. We have stayed elsewhere in Manchester for less and it’s been better

The actual hotel was fine but the parking ended up costing my partner a fortune. He paid £18 at the reception and was told to let someone know when he was leaving. We checked out the next day at reception and said we are leaving what do we do with our ticket. They stamped it and said we just show the attendant at the car park and he will lift the barrier. We got to the barrier, absolutely no one to be seen even after pressing the assist button. We had no choice but to put out ticket in the machine and pay another £30. Absolutely fuming. Emailed the hotel and they offered £18 back. A week later I still haven’t had it. Avoid if you don’t want to pay a bomb in parking.

Very nice place. Had a bit of an issue where I couldn’t get into my room for a while which was annoying, but generally very nice place. Staff were helpful and polite. They wouldn’t let us use the facilities on checkout day after checking out which was a bit dissapointing. Very nice location, good proximity to transport if you want to travel around, or walking distance from anything you’d probably wanna see if you prefer that.

So front desk staff were awesome, the restaurant was lovely and clean but £50 for 2 plates of eggs on toast was excessive.

The swimming pool was freezing and none of the lockers worked and the changing rooms weren’t particularly big or clean and one didn’t even have a working light.

Once in our room it was nice and clean but the intercom to reception was broken and the the room itself was very cold with the only radiator being a towel warmer in the bathroom.

That was fantastic. Lovely hotel in a great location, it was quiet, we had a nice big room and bathroom (despite booking the cheapest one). The kitchen had everything you need - although we were only there for a few days. The pool was great. Parking also was super easy and secure and there is a supermarket next door when you realise you've forgotten a load of stuff.

Simple Spoilers.

Good location.
With a building like this with no opening windows it is imperative the air conditioning works. This wasn’t the case in one (of 2) of the rooms I booked unfortunately. Couple this with the television losing signal every few minutes (in both rooms I booked) and it was enough to spoil the two night stay.
If these 2 things were sorted the stay would have obviously been a lot better. The staff tried to be helpful but clearly couldn’t do anything to fix the problems.

Really professional and friendly staff. Tv sinal was dropping out. Couldn't get a signal mobile or wifi in the room and couldn't work out how to turn off the air condition which kept me awake all night. However that aside would stay again. Lovely looking. Well appointed. Easy access and good food and reception cant do enough. I didnt get the chance to use the spa andvpool but we ould certainly come back and will try it on that occasion. Great dinner and breakfast and very clean

Enjoyed our night's stay at Citysuites.

Was a mix up at check in when guest from the previous night was still in the apartment as he'd got a late check, but reception quickly allocated us another room on a higher floor.

Room was well equipped, with large bed, cooking facilities, washing machine, dishwasher and a comfy settee.

Supplied The White Company Noir shampoo and shower gel, no conditioner so bring your own. Rainshower wasnt very powerful. TV also kept going off saying no signal which was a bit annoying.

Had a meal in Embankment restaurant. Prawn tempura starter was excellent.

Disappointed jacuzzi was closed for maintenance so didn't bother using the pool.

In a great location just a couple of minutes walk to main shopping.

Would recommend and would stay again.

Ok but not a great stay

My stay was no so good unfortunately.

Cleanliness was generally good but the first room we stayed in had stains on the coffee table. The Second room the oven tray was dirty.

The heating was not working in our first room and we could not call reception as the intercom wasn’t working either. I had to make 2 trips downstairs to get help with this. It was so cold in the room we were shaking and had the duvet to keep us warm. It was actually warmer on the corridor and in the lift! We were finally told there is an error and would need to move rooms. At no point did the reception staff apologise or acknowledge the inconvenience. At one point when I was in the reception asking why no one had to come back to us, the receptionist named Ravi, did not even look at me or say anything for about 30 seconds and then said “here is your new room”. I asked if the heating is working in this room as they had a technical problem with the intercom, and he did not know. So we checked together and it was working. I asked the receptionist for his name and his colleagues name, he gave his and asked why I wanted his colleagues, to which I said this was because he attended my room and did not return. The receptionists attitudes generally were not very polite, welcoming or courteous.

When we moved rooms, it was warmer which was nicer but actually got too hot at one point and did not seem to get any cooler after changing setings. We had a few issues with lighting, they kept flickering.

Beautiful suite and room, amazing corner window

Had a small suite with bedroom and sofabed. Sofabed was the most uncomfortable hotel bed I have ever slept in. The springs creaked, the mattress was thin, the frame was lumpy, the bed was too short for a 6ft person, so my feet kept hitting the freezing metal frame. No obvious heating controls in room.
Breakfast was excellent. Staff were really polite and helpful.
Toilets in dining room were filthy.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean and as described. Breakfast was lovely except for the 45 minute wait and obviously had been forgotten about.
