Built at the foot of Manchester Cathedral in 1815, the Mitre is one of the oldest hotels in Manchester city centre. It has a restaurant and bar and provides free Wi-Fi in public areas.

Each room features a TV and free tea and coffee, with most also boasting lovely views of Manchester Cathedral, the Corn Exchange, Selfridges and Sinclairs Oyster Bar. Rooms are available both with a private bathroom and with shared bathroom facilities.

Please note that there is no lift at the property and no ground floor rooms. The Mitre Hotel has retained its period charm, but now boasts modern interior design in the bar and guest areas.

The front desk is open 24/7. Please be advised we do not have on site parking, we can provide a discount code for a parking facility that is within a 5 minute walk, you have to pre book for a discount and this is public parking which is subject to availability.

The room was comfortable and warm, with everything we needed.
The staff were so welcoming and friendly and couldn't have done enough for us. We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay.
The only comment I would make is that plates should be warmed (our evening meal and breakfast was lukewarm, due to cold plates). (Heatlamp doesn't warm plates sufficiently). Also, the music, during breakfast was too loud...however, it was turned down when requested.
Having said that; this didn't take anything away from the enjoyment of our stay.
Will thoroughly recommend your hotel; based on the building, the wonderful staff and great location...including the great pub next door.

Fabulous hotel in a great position. The staff were very friendly and accommodating.
The room was spacious and very clean. We even had our own private courtyard which I’m sure in summer would have been lovely.
We ate in the restaurant one evening and entertained our family for Sunday lunch which was spot on.
The breakfast was delicious with a very well managed buffet.
Based ourselves there for Twickenham, Hampton Court Palace visit and a family reunion.
Will definitely use again
Opposite Hampton Court entrance and close to Hampton Court railway station. Lovely terraces on the River embankment.
Easily accessible by car although parking is limited at the hotel - but parked at the railway station for £3.90 per day.

The Mitre Hotel is full of history and character. It's in the perfect location for visiting Hampton Court. All staff are friendly and helpful, making you feel welcome and nothing is too much trouble. Food and drinks were delicious, once again staff catering above and beyond for food allergies and intolerances.

Okay, toilet handle didn’t work which was a bit strange, it was hanging off and needed to be spun to work, why not just fix it? Especially given the room was just above 400 or so a night. Also found it strange the bathroom was a wet room, no bath. Lovely property but definitely not worth the money they’re charging.

All good. Had room upgrade. Room was a good distance but was large and comfortable. Bed was around 4feet off the ground in our room called William but was very comfortable. Staff were all very helpful. Had one small issue which was we were not allowed in the garden area to have drinks early evening although we did order some popcorn cauliflower. We were asked to go in a small area outside. It was very early and very quiet so couldn’t agree it was right to not allow us in the lovely garden area. Otherwise no complaints. I thought as residents we could have our drinks etc in any area of the restaurant. David Room.

What a beautiful hotel. There is nothing negative I can say. Perfect room, friendly, professional and attentive staff.
A special mention to Jaiya ( bio-med student) sorry if the spelling is incorrect! She greeted us at reception. She was exceptional. Professional and friendly.
Dinner on the terrace. Beautiful view. Wonderful food with plenty of choice. Well done to the chef and team, not forgetting the waiting on staff.
Breakfast was equally as tasty with a variety of choices. Staff were wonderful!
I will definitely book here again.

Amazing hotel!

We had a lovely stay for 4 nights with 3 kids and our dog Butter. The location was amazing and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We loved the food at the restaurant. We also enjoyed a quiet moment at the little library. Will come back to stay again in the future!

The location was perfect, we were even able to park our car with the aid of a friendly concierge who looked after us well. Inside the hotel was wonderfully querkie the room was spacious as was the bathroom, all well decorated and fitted out.
The main plus was the staff. Coming from the north, we pride ourselves on friendliness, but the staff in the Mitre made our break so good. On the desk, in the restaurants, in the bar, all were helpful and friendly and we can’t wait to come back next year for the festival. Can’t recommend it highly enough. Thank you

Family few days

We enjoyed a relaxing stay at the Mitre. The room was comfortable and we were pleased to have a fan during such hot weather.It is convenient for the station with a direct service to Waterloo.
The Mitre is opposite Hampton Court Palace which is always worth a visit

I opted for the Mitre as we were attending an event at Hampton court .
The hotel looked wonderful with areas overlooking the Thames .
Our room was separate from the hotel but just a short distance and in a block with 4 rooms .
Our room ( the palace gate ) was bijou but lovely and a door leading to a private rooftop terrace was a lovely unexpected bonus .
A Glass of wine each on arrival , cheerful staff and simple booking in procedure, pubs and cafe next door are very welcoming.
Parking appeared tight at the actual hotel but plenty around .
Train station is a 5 min walk away.
We didn’t eat or drink in the hotel as we were at a ‘James’ gig across the road but I’m sure this hotel would definitely deliver in all aspects!.

Excellent stay at the Mitre Hotel , from check-in to check-out. We were greeted by the kindest receptionist, who was also there when we checked out and who went above and beyond to make our kids feel welcome and happy .
The room was very well equipped, with great decor while staying conveniently with children , room service was good and breakfast the following day great too , especially the view from the restaurant.
Access to the palace could not be easier , and the whole surrounding area is very nice . Parking spaces are fairly limited but we were lucky enough to get one despite a late arrival.

Lovely service, great location.

We needed to be in the area and found The Mitre in a random search via hotels.com. It proved an unexpected gem and we will return with great pleasure. Quiet, comfortable room, good bathroom, super restaurant with lovely menu choices and great views directly across the Thames. Most of all, through the entire business, the people were charming, professional and nothing was too much trouble. Impossible to fault.

I went there for a short break with my dog. The room was perfect with a private walled garden outside my room. I could sit in the garden with a cup of tea every morning. It's perfect for my dog.
The staff were friendly. I need to give a shout out to Hannah at the reception who went out of her way to help me at our first night. The hotel is in a great location with beautiful river walk and excellent choices of cafes and restaurants nearby. Most of them are dog friendly. The Hampton Court Palace is just across the road and the hotel gave me complementary tickets to visit the palace.
I had a wonderful stay at the hotel and would love to come back.

Superb staff, the place needs a little love.

Superb location and absolutely fabulous staff on reception, breakfast and the bar. Big shout out to Hannah and the reception ladies, you were all superstars. A hotel with history, but sadly is showing it in places, hence the 4 score. We had room 114, Cartoon gallery with it's own private courtyard. Some issues, carpet in a bathroom?? Showing stains, some issues with carpeting and paint finishes in the room need addressing. Biggest grudges, the parking and breakfast. No one could confirm if we had breakfast included or not, only found out on the second day we were room only. Re-checked through the booking system and there appears no mention of breakfast, so be aware continental will cost you and hot meals are all extra unless you are on a B&B tariff. Secondly parking is limited and first come, first served. Wanted an early get away as my wife was poorly, but unfortunately reception had not obtained the car keys to the car parked behind us. Held us up whilst the owner was tracked down at breakfast. However these issues apart, it was a fabulous stay generally down to the wonderful staff that we had contact with, sorry should have taken more names to name you all. A big thank you for helping make our stay better. Highly recommended.

Top 5 all-time favorite stays, see Hampton Court!

100% brilliant! A destination hotel - located just across the street from Hampton Court Palace, and right on the Thames Path for miles of walking paths. National Rail/Overground station just a 6-min walk across the bridge with easy 35-min ride to Waterloo. We enjoyed full breakfast on-site twice, dinner once, and everything was superb. The spacious \"Royal\" room featured river view, window seats, comfy robes, a fridge with cold milk, Lavazza machine, kettle, and good selection of tea. The warm welcome at check-in included housemade shortbread and a \"tipple\" of ginger schnapps in the room. Staff went above and beyond. (Summertime tip: room 308 had superb air-con, even though we did not expect it from the listing. Not sure if it's in every room.)

Top staff in a top hotel.

Excellent staff at reception. Warm, personable and very welcoming.
Fine spacious room with double doors into courtyard. Very large comfortable bed with quality bed linen. Room and bathroom very clean. Quiet, no interference from outside noise.
Ate in restaurant both nights. Food and service very good.
Location is outstanding, on the river and just across the road from Hampton Court.
Warmth of staff and their willingness to help at every turn a major plus in the Mitre.

The hotel room was extremly warm to the extent that i could not sleep .Bearing in mind that this was mid March and outside temperatures were in single figures, i dread to think how warm it will be in summer.
In the morning i had to wait 15 minutes whilst the hotel staff moved the car that was blocking my vehicles exit.

Just one night stay to visit Hampton Court Palace, which is literally across the road. Staff were fantastic. Really friendly and helpful. Some onsite parking but it's limited. We dined in the restaurant. Food was lovely. though it's a bit chilly if your sat next to windows. Definitely recommend this hotel.
