We stayed in a superior room with a private hot spring which was cleaned daily and secluded. Communal hot springs have a lot of tree and plant debris so at night we didn’t notice it until we felt our hair. Restaurant food is good and big portions, but a bit expensive since you don’t have walkable options. Free breakfast was delicious and a good variety. Lots of families so we encountered a lot of crying babies. The hiking trail isn’t well maintained and goes behind some rooms which make it awkward. Overall good quality and value for your money

We had the thermal pool room, we enjoyed our own little space. We also loved the sports bar and thermal forest. The breakfast was good! We had a small issue in our room and they were more than helpful and fixed it very quickly for us. Loved all the landscaping around the property, very well maintained, lots of wildlife for you to enjoy.

All in all an outstanding experience. This lodge far exceeded my expectations. I absolutely love the pool. The room was super comfortable. There was daily housekeeping. The laundry service was not ridiculously overpriced. The pool towel concept is absolutely ridiculous, but I'm not taking off points for it. The restaurant was amazing. I've never stayed at a hotel with a better built-in place to eat.

It was an ok place to stay and we did not have any problems. But it was not our favorite location.

Staff were friendly, but those at the restaurant were often more focused on the FIFA game and slower to respond to request (water cups were often empty and took awhile for someone to come so we could pay for the meal).

The room was nice and we enjoyed the personal hot tub in the back. The ac was working and was able to keep things cool, but for some reason it always stayed a little humid in the room, which made it hard for our swimsuits to dry.

Overall, nice stay but not one of our favorites.

It was a beautiful property that had lots to explore. The hot springs were perfect you could find an area to tuck away into your own little world. The restaurant was delicious and breakfast was amazing every morning with lots of options. The employees were incredibly helpful with booking tours and checking in on how your experience is going. Wouldn’t stay anywhere else in La Fortuna!

It was like staying inside a well kept jungle! The wildlife (birds and plants) on the property were gorgeous. We saw workers constantly cleaning pools and thermals, tending to the grounds, there was always someone around but no one ever bothered us to make us feel like we had to order something. The breakfast was amazing! We only ordered dinner once and it was beautiful. I was okay that the location was closer to the volcano than the downtown. My only complaints are that there weren't enough places in the room or bathroom to hang wet swim suits and I didn't love the bathroom products provided (shampoo and body wash). I would stay here again!

We loved our stay at the Volcano Lodge and Thermal Experience. It is such a beautiful property to enjoy. The thermal experience area is beautiful. You can see the Arenal Volcano from there. The room was clean and nice. Staff was great. Breakfast had so much to offer. It left like an all inclusive place. Beautiful property and I would like to come back and stay here again. The balcony was private and so beautiful. Overall I would rate is 10/10

Really loved this place. We got the room with private tub also which was super cool. Loved sitting in it at night with the lights. The only note I’d mention is when you get something and they put it on your room number, they don’t charge at that time, but give you a total when you check out. But they were all so helpful when planning activities, and making suggestions.

Okay resort but we wouldn't stay again. Most of the pools were quite dirty and not well maintained. Saw staff spraying a lot of chemicals into what I thought was natural thermal pools as well as insecticide in the gardens.

We had spent 10 days In Tamarindo and moved over to this location. When we come back to Costa Rica we will spend our time at this location exclusively? Loved the location, surroundings, the staff were very welcoming and accommodating. The food in the restaurant was some of the best we have ever had and smiley Jose was a delight to assist us and make recommendations for anything. Fue la mejor estancia que tuve en Costa Rica. El Hotel está espectacular, desde que llegamos está entre la jungla. El personal es muy amable. Steve fue una de las personas que nos atendió y fue un gusto conocerlo y compartir con el. La comida y bebidas están súper ricas. Las aguas termales son excelentes y están abiertas asta muy tarde.
El volcán lo puedes apreciar desde la piscina o desde el restaurante. Tener tu propio jacuzzi con agua termales es muy recomendable. Lo que me gustaría que ofrecieran en casa es un tipo de tienda con helados. Se puede apreciar también varios tipos de aves y lagartos. 100% recomendado

We stayed in a junior suite, and the private jacuzzi was a definite plus. Had a minor maintenance issue early in our stay which was very quickly addressed. The staff were fantastic - after a day or two we were familiar with most of the restaurant staff, who were all excellent. Great food, with a stand out breakfast buffet. Front desk staff were also super helpful. We had a wonderful stay.

The thermal pools were not maintained well at all, and I felt like they were pretty dirty with dead leaves on them and it seemed like they were not very clean. The property also seemed extremely outdated for the amount they charged us. I honestly don’t think it was worth it specially given the room in the washrooms it was giving hotel from the 1970s.

We booked the room with the thermal water feature inside, but it was full of leaves and didn’t feel luxurious at all. The room itself was very basic, with only the essentials. Overall, it was far too expensive for what it actually offered.

This property was better than the pictures online. Well maintained and beautiful environment. The thermal pools were amazing. There were wild turkey’s roaming the property that was a site to see. The staff were great. The view of arenal volcano is breathtaking. Just wish this was an all inclusive resort. I would stay here again.

Our room was a junior suite with a hot tub out back. The room was large and tastefully decorated. I don’t think it could have been any cleaner. Staff we interacted with were helpful and great to speak with, even with my near nonexistent Spanish. The breakfast was delicious and had a good selection of food. I didn’t use the pool but my wife did. She said it was clean and enjoyable.

The staff are extremely polite and helpful. I especially enjoyed the free espresso at the reception area. The landscaping is beautiful and well maintained providing habitat for lots of birds and other wildlife. Breakfast was amazing every morning. The bed was firm and comfortable. We enjoyed our private backyard thermal pool as well as the public thermal and regular pools. The sauna was available but we had no instructions how to use it. We ate dinner at the restaurant and it was delicious and easy to charge to our room. It was a quiet and peaceful stay. We had everything we needed to enjoy our time here. We have not stayed at other thermal resorts in the area so I’m not sure how the price compares for what you get. We felt this was a fair price for the value of the amenities offered.

This property is stunningly beautiful and well landscaped. The room was clean and comfortable. I absolutely LOVED having a semi private back yard area directly off my patio. Every morning I saw wildlife walking through and down to the pond. It had trails to walk around and every corner of the property was filled with beautiful and well manicured tropical plants. There is plenty of space and multiple pools, gardens, or areas to hang out so it was very easy to find more quiet and private areas. It never felt crowded or too busy. The hot springs were amazing and that was the perfect way to relax and unwind after a long day of tours. The staff were friendly and helpful and I loved how safe and inviting everything felt. The restaurant was really good and I loved the breakfast buffet every morning. I am already looking forward to going back and would absolutely recommend this resort. It's not only conveniently located, it feels safe, clean, and relaxing.

The property is great. Breakfast was good and had good choices. Omelette bar, fruits, hot entrees, coffee, cappuccino, fruit drinks, etc. The food was the same everyday, though. But still good variety to start the day. The restaurant food and drink prices are quite high. More economical and better food options, to catch an uber and go to a soda (restaurant). The hot springs options at the hotel were great. After a long day out, it was nice to come back and relax in the pool and hot springs. Service is great and personnel are very attentive and courteous. Highly recommended!!

Free breakfast everyday, both including typical Costa Rican breakfasts, as well as pancakes for those who prefer a breakfast from home.

The thermal springs were the best!! Especially the swim up bar (helps save money on commuting to other thermal springs as well as the entrance fee)

Staff were wonderful! Sweet and helpful at recommending restaurants and activities:)

Transportation from the airport to hotel was $225, so great to split between 5 people.

Do yourself a favor and get all your food, drinks, coffee anywhere else. Nice game area. Lots of toucans and other birds and animals to be seen easily. Power went out a few times each night. Very small rooms but you can make it work.

Loved the layout of the hot springs on site, very secluded feeling, and extremely safe. I loved the area with tiered temperatures where would go to what we called “lava hot” and go down to subsequently cooler levels as needed for comfort. I was a little concerned about how frequently they were cleaned (there was a food item in the hot spring with the walk up bar and I did not see anyone skimming or vacuuming during our stay), but I suspect that would be the same at all the hot spring resorts. The rooms were nice and comfortable. The property was easy to reach and we enjoyed some incredible nearby outings. We had a massage which we enjoyed. The skillset of the masseuse may not have been the best, but the sound of the little waterfall and the rainforest was exactly like the soundtracks playing in high end spas - and it was real! That encompasses the trip. We saw toucans flying overhead, lizards and toads, turkeys and peacocks. It was an incredible stay and the whole family enjoyed it.

We were given a room that was full of mildew. When we turned on AC to help it too smelled of mold. When I spoke to manager she said previous person did not complain, which just tells me they have poor quality control. (And that she was dismissing my concern). My son started coughing due to conditions and we talked to front desk about checking out early. Turns out when we first arrived I signed a form allowing no early check outs. Just make sure you look at room before you sign their paperwork. After we complained they moved us to a room more in keeping with how the rooms were advertised. So I think we were given a room that had not been renovated yet. In short, I agree with some of the other reviews, motel quality and staff not very friendly. Also if healthy food important to you- be aware they have margarine not butter, not the freshest ingredients. I thought given price, I was paying for better quality that just wasn’t there. For additional context- the sheets were thin, had stains, and back porch had sewer smell.

The breakfast was basically the same day over day. There were warmers with beans/rice, scrambled eggs, dried-out chilaquiles, plantains, some sort of meat dish, and then fresh fruit. There was an omelet station and waffle station. There were various pastries and breads.

Hotel otherwise was great - hot springs were well incorporated into the experience

What a beautiful property! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hot springs (which stay open until about 3am), the views of the Arenal Volcano, the room amenities, the tasty (& varied breakfasts), the helpful staff, the views from our porch.... I could go on! Staf were helpful organising tours and we really liked how there was a coffee & tea station in reception as well as in the rooms. We also enjoyed our dinner at the on-site restaurant Surá. Highly recommended

Volcano Lodge is a beautiful property! My family enjoyed our stay so much. The staff is friendly, everything is clean and well maintained, and the restaurant is great especially the included breakfast buffet. I enjoyed walking the trail that goes around the perimeter of the property and saw several animals and many interesting plants right there on the property. The regular swimming pool is nice. The thermal pools are so fun and relaxing. The water is really warm. The best part is that they stay open very late so if you spend all day exploring La Fortuna you still have plenty of time to enjoy the thermal pools. We had a thermal superior room which had plenty of room for our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 teens) and the absolute BEST part was the private thermal pool. I wish we had more than 2 nights here and I hope to come back again someday.

The pools were great, uncrowded with several options. The grounds were spectacular and well looked after. Front desk was helpful. If you do not have a car, it is not walkable to town or off property attractions, you must take an uber or taxi. Included breakfast was very good.
