The room had no resemblance to the pictures on the website. It was tiny, it had holes in the flooring that needed to be repaired. There was no television. The room was located very close to a rock band next door that played until 11:00 pm. Worst of all, there were cockroaches in the bedroom and the bathroom.

This was the worst place we have ever stayed. The building was in disrepair and smelled horrible. To get to your room you had to go through multiple doors and up and down carrying your suitcase. The bathtub was in the main living area and there was a tiny corner sink with no place to put anything down in the bathroom. We had to put our things on the mantle outside the bathroom and balance everything else while we washed our face and brushed our teeth. The pipes were rusted, and the toilet was gross with a hole in the toilet seat. There were no hangers, the AC didn’t work right, the bed was lumpy and the room was right on the street so it was light at night. The outside door was half broken so anyone could have gotten in. There was loud music coming from a band next-door while we were trying to sleep. Guests did get free breakfast, which wasn’t bad but was basically in the old servant’s quarters even though there was a restaurant there serving breakfast. You could pay extra for that. We definitely would not recommend staying here. The only positive thing I could say is that it was convenient and you’re able to walk to everything downtown.

The inn is located in a perfect spot within a short walk to many restaurants, bars and shops. The inn is very old, but that is not a negative. It is very charming. There is live music next door till 11 pm, so if you go to bed before that, you may want to stay somewhere else. The free breakfast on the weekend is supposed to be from 8:30-9:30, but each morning the gentleman running breakfast would say they will not be ready until 9. Kind of frustrating when planning a day. Overall, I would absolutely stay here again.

We got a \"deluxe\" room which wasn't deluxe but I guess it was larger than the average room at this hotel. At least was not a closet. The bed was super comfortable and the breakfast with the wonderful biscuits and homemade jam were really the highlight which redeemed this hotel for us.
The location was quaint but parking is too limited.
It was fine overall but pricey for what we got.

The property is very nice and well situated in town. Breakfast was nice and the bar next door was fun. While I understand it is old and maybe difficult to handle certain aspects, the musty smell and apparent mold in the bathroom was unpleasant. However maybe this isn’t the case in the newer rooms.

It seems like ratings are pretty divided on this property. Now that I've been, I can completely see why that's the case, and kinda wanted to spell out everything I found great and not-so-great:
Great
The look - everything is quintessential old town architecture, inside and out, and is a beauty to behold.
The staff - while my interactions with them were minimal, they were always exceedingly pleasant.
Price - it's right in town, and, at least for the day I was in town, considerably cheaper than the Hampton.
Cats - the courtyard, which itself was a cute little feature, had some very adorable feline residents in it.
Not-so-great
The noise - this was the one criticism I was aware of going in, but I didn't know the extent of it until I was at the hotel. The bar next door was active until sometime between midnight and 1 AM. I was fine with this, as I wasn't attempting to fall asleep until after midnight. However, beyond just being in a noisy setting, the walls in this hotel are probably the thinnest I've ever experienced, as no sound from outside was insulated. This resulted in me waking up quite a few times earlier than I was hoping to.
Parking - they do have an on-site lot...it's minuscule. This probably wasn't a big deal in the era before paid parking downtown, because there is plentiful street parking nearby. But with free parking vastly diminished, this becomes a more annoying issue.
Room size - smallest I've seen since Manhattan.
Overall it's fine for a night, but not perfect.

Room was clean. We saw no staff during our stay. Property is very old and needs updating. Location and parking very convenient. The 13” TV was too small to view from the bed. Long, narrow stairway makes the rooms essentially inaccessible for people with limited mobility. Property only recommended for true antique bnb fans.

Location is great for downtown and the free breakfast offerings were good! However, there isn’t staff present consistently. It was difficult just getting fresh rags since we were only given 2 for a 4 night stay. The inn could be really nice with some TLC. There was gaps in the tile around the shower handle. Spider webs in the fireplace and bathroom light. Outdoor patio upstairs in back could be a cute area if it was cleaned and all the broken furniture and dead potted plants removed. Like I said. TLC would go a long ways and some upgrades without ruining the historic appeal. Also there is very popular outdoor bar right next door that can get loud and noisy. You can hear everything in your room. It’s nice to sit on balcony and listen to the live music but don’t stay here if you want to go to bed early. Lol

Very nice. Considering this is a historical building and old, everything was great and the staff is really kind and considerate. The place overall has so much charm. We loved hanging out in the parlor. The “small breakfast” was perfect and delicious! My only request is they replace the mattress in room 9. Already talking about going back!

This is a totally charming hotel which is truly a bed and breakfast antique vibe. It is an old historic i nfull of rustic charm, a clean comfortable roo. With aur cinditioning in a prime downtown location.

Being historic, it is \"low tech\" our bathroom facilities while functional wer unconventional. The claw foot tub doubling as a shower in the room.
Overall if you are looking for modern amenities this is not for you but if you embrace a deep breath of fresh air, homey staff, a lovely breakfast with a beautiful courtyard and a cozy step back in time, it is absolutely delightful!!! We loved it!

If you want to lounge at the beach all day, stay at one of the beach hotels, but if you want to be in the thick of things, with dozens of shops, restaurants, bars, and night life, there's absolutely no place better than Florida House. It's a historic Inn, and literally on the walking and trolley tours as a place of interest on the island. The place is old, it's true, and so maybe not up to snuff on all the amenities you've come to expect (takes a while for the water to heat up, floor is a little crooked, internet TV only), but it's also beautiful, and if you're like me and the wife, the character of the place MORE than makes up for these minor shortcomings. There's live music next door every night, but they shut it down promptly at 10 (if you've got young kiddos, or you're an early-to-bed person, this may not be for you). We had a three minute walk to everywhere, had a great time, and special shout out to Julie, who ran her ass off to make sure we had everything we needed (including making me meat-free quiches and upgrading us to a king bed room). We'll never stay anywhere else, for sure!

The entire place seems neglected. It’s a very old hotel. That would be very cool if it were kept up. It’s not clean. It’s not updated. There’s one manager, Julie, who is very responsive. But on her days off my laundry, sat outside my door for three days along with garbage. There was a coffee pot available to us, but no cups breakfast is included. It is OK, but it is the same every day. The hotel is right next to a music venue so it is very loud until 11 PM on weekends. Definitely would not stay there again. The location is great, but that is about the only thing that is.

Disappointing. We stayed in room 11, Railroad Room for two nights. The pics online don't do justice - the room is 10x12 (should be disclosed in add) with barely any room for two bags. Continental breakfast was almost 9am (innkeeper late arrival which she told us on arrival) and food/experience was marginal compared to other BNBs and budget hotels - cold bagels in food service bags and a luke warm frozen quish that needed to be rewarmed. We checked out early on day two to get on the road - when asked if we could get a bag for the next morning with some items, the keeper said no takeout was available showing no desire to accommodate us as guests. The property is quaint but old and is behind on many repairs - exterior door didn't close; musty; light in hallway was a table lamp that violates fire code; very weathered steps and walking surfaces; old/creaky beds; no room thermastate; and thin walls. At a $30++ premium to the Hampton Inn nearby serving a full hot breakfast, we won't stay again. This place has potential but management needs to step it up!

Enjoyed the 19th century vibe. My room was close to the bar next door. Live music was fantastic but quite loud until 10:30 p.m. Fabulous central location for walking for meals and entertainment. A fussy person who expects a refined experience will be disappointed. Personally, I knew what I signed up for and my expectations were met. Did not try the breakfast because my business meetings started at 7 a.m. and included breakfast. Hotel breakfast is between 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. which is fine for tourists. I'll stay there again but I'll ask for a room away from the live music. I go to bed before 10:30.

Convenient that it is downtown and close to shops and restaurants, however, it is naldo right ext to the green turtle bar (same owners). The bar’s outdoor bands play loudly until 11 PM and the bar itself closes at 1 AM.

Staff personnel here are nice, yet there is very limited staff, typically one person who is available from 10 AM to 5 PM. Property is in dire need of some TLC from every facet.

Although our room was small, it was sufficient for our needs on this visit. The bed mattress itself was quite uncomfortable and in need of replacement. Lots of outdoor cats roam the grounds.

The room was comfortable. It’s a great place to stay if location is important. The biggest issue we had was lack of storage, but the bed was comfortable and the staff was attentive and super helpful.

Parking was a bit of an issue. Their lot is not large and there was a wedding one day so all the spots were taken. There IS a public lot right next to their lot, but it was small and filled up quickly as well.

Overall, we would stay here again.

The hotel in right in the Downtown so you can walk around and get lunch, dinner, shop, get a drink, listen to live entertainment. Beautiful centrally located B&B! We love how they preserved the charm of this home. Staff was amazing! The Inn keeper even moved her car so we could park, because the lot was full.

It does need some upgrades to some of the rooms. One of the light covers was broke with sharp edges in the bathroom and 3 lightbulbs were blown In the bedroom. We didn’t report those things, but I’m sure if we would have let them know they would have fixed it.

Best location in Fernandina, old, old building.

Great location in downtown Fernandina, popular night spot right next door. Good linens, comfortable bed. Minimal bath products provided but was given bar soap and tissues when requested.If you like old, historic structures you might like this be aware it was built in mid 1800’s so the rooms are small. A/c is overactive and there is no control in the room so take a jacket. The only comfortable chairs are in main parlor. Building is showing it’s age. Pretty sure floor in room is original. Quiche was provided both mornings, otherwise breakfast consisted of store bought bread still in the bag, coffee and one fruit - some form of melon. Staff was pleasant and helpful.

Very cool to stay in a place that is 150 years old! Right downtown so we never needed out car for three days - -great restaurants, shops, activities to walk to. Plenty of chairs on the porches and sitting in the jacuzzi tub every night was terrific. Place right nextdoor had good bands on the weekend; no need to leave property for fun. I liked it!

We had a great time staying here. The parking was easy and this place is so convenient to be able to walk anywhere downtown. The staff were very helpful and always friendly. If you stay on the “north” side of the property, the bands that play next door at the Green Turtle can get a bit loud (till 11:00-12:00 pm) but we toughed it out and made the best of the situation and joined in the crowd one of our nights. There was no thermostat in the room. Woke up freezing cold in the middle of the night and there was no hot water. We are locals, stayed there for New Year’s Eve, and ended up leaving at 5:00 am to go home and get warm. Would not stay there in the summer with only a ceiling fan. Was told someone would be at the front desk until 5:00 pm. Got there just after 4:00 pm and waited almost 15 minutes for someone to check me in. Nice place but for the price will not stay there again

We have stayed at this venue many times. For major holidays/events- it is close to everything. Park your car (assuming you get one of their parking spots- first come, first served) and put your keys away until vacation’s end! Best hotel for music/bars/dining. I recommend the on-site bar (Mermaids) for quality hand made beverages. Paul & co. do a great job. For music, the Green Turtle is next door- with great performances/fun/dancing/cocktails.
The room prices are low. The rooms are small. But with everything going on- who stays in the room?
This is the place to stay for a taste of 1800’s nostalgia in the middle of everything. The stairs can be daunting, and some rooms are very small, with questionable T.V., little storage and tables. For a weekend trip- well worth it for the experience.

The property can be very cute but property Instaletions very poor , breakfast which supposed was included was very poor , the restaurant where breakfast for the ones was included looked like the dinner of the employees, total separate from the regular restaurant , the days there were very cold freezing the heat of the room did not work well, we had to check out early even this was a problem as I told them I would live the fallowing day the Manager decided to check me out same day even they refund my money the communication was very poor. Definitely we will not recommend this bed and breakfast and will never stay here again.

Quaint Step Back in Time

The hotel is a step back in time - laid back and very nice. It’s convenient to everything. HOWEVER, if you’re looking for quiet before 1 am, make sure you do not reserve room number 8. The Green Turtle Tavern is next door with live entertainment till 11pm, and closing at 1am.

Room was filthy. Mold on interior window shutters and headboard. Dust on surfaces, dirt ring in bathtub, etc. No shower curtain or door on shower letting water spray all over the bathroom while taking a shower. Green Turtle Tavern is directly next door and extremely loud with live bands until 1 am. Also note, none of their rooms are equipped for accommodating more than 2 guests even though the description on different travel sites say differently.

We have been staying here for years. They have some hurricane damage that needs to be addressed. Mold in our room. Water damage in room also. The shower was great.

Decent property in a very good location. Breakfast was a disappointment as it was regular grocery bread, yogurt, etc. No fresh fruits or omelets or oatmeal. It was pretty basic. Some furniture pieces needed TLC.
