Grand Mercure Asoke

Grand Mercure was a super star in its heyday. Its still a good hotel where the back building is converted to long term residences. The rooms are large with full kitchen, sitting / living room and separate bed room. It is still a solid hotel but the dark wood is showing some wear and 20 mos of CoVid lockdowns are hitting the room rates. The in-room washing machines are very helpful! Shower needs more water pressure.

But I recomend the taxi use when the rain, because of the puddles on the small street of the SOI-19.

Great apartment hotel on quiet street. Had washing machine full kitchen separate bedroom and balcony and was huge. Great value and was nice for first and last night of our trip. 20min walk from makkasan was tough dragging roller bags and stroller but that's life. Sidewalks in Bangkok are not ADA compliant. Lol

Sensational place to stay for a family.

If it’s kowtowing and staff making you fee like the person you wish you were, then find somewhere else to stay. This hotel is far too good for you. We frequent this hotel at least once a year. The recently refurbished breakfast buffet is on par with every other breakfast buffet you’ll find out there. The kind staff are never overbearing. You never have to put up with an expatriate staff member greeting you with insincerity. The Frand Mercure feels more like home. And just like home it’s a little rough around the edges, but that is exactly why we will continue to patronise his establishment.

It's the best family hotel in my experience worldwide. Staff members are very cordial, helpful and rooms are exception in size comfort. Practically designed and rooms have two Bathrooms which make life very easy. We can't ask for anything more in this property. Location is also very convenient, Terminal 21 and BTS in walking distance but Hotel also provides transport to this point. I would like to return to this property every time we will be in Bangkok.

Mercure Soi 11 vs. Soi 19 hotels comparison

I stayed at two Mercure Hotels:

the Mercure on Soi 11

and the Grande Mercure on Soi 19.

There are a number of Mercure hotels in BKK, and it is one of the best hotel chains I have experienced.

Staff are well trained, attentive, helpful, flawless, actually, and the rooms are unusually large.

The Grande Mercure rooms are almost too big: this is a serviced apartment hotel, with staff in the.
lobby, but the room is essentially just an apartment. Good quality everything, with a good kitchen, washing machine, bathtub and 2 excellent TV'.

I actually preferred the Mercure Hotel on Soi 11. It is more of a proper hotel, and is impressively furnished and spotless. The Soi 11 location is closer to Sukhumvit; the Soi 19 is past all bars, restaurants and hotels on that street. It is an old building, but classy. Oddly crowded traffic in the area, as there is an intersection next to the hotel that has constant traffic flow. As I was preparing to leave for the airport, there was such a traffic jam that I thought I might miss my flight: waited a half hour for a taxi to come, not because the staff did not try, but because traffic was completely stopped in all directions.

When I return to BKK, I'll stay in the the Soi 11 Mercure. It is the best hotel I have stayed at in BKK in some 20 years of visiting.

I have stayed at this hotel many times before and my experience is that it gets better and better with each stay. The service was flawless, from reception to concierge to maids to room service and service in the restaurants. The room itself was spacious and very well-appointed and it seems to have been renovated recently. I was upgraded to a quiet corner room with excellent views of the hills behind Patong on two sides. The location is excellent, being a short walk toJung Ceylon Shopping Mall, Bangla Road and Patong Beach. Overall, highly recommended and I will continue to stay here on my trips to Patong.

An average hotel, definitely not a 5*.
The staff is nice, the hotel is outdated and rooms need some renovation to be considered a 5*. It’s ok without something special.
We didn’t take breakfast as we read bad reviews about it and they confirmed there is no big breakfast room yet available.
The street smells quite bas and has some homeless sleeping on the street.

Asoke Residence is primarily residents as the name implies with a limited number of hotel apartments. The apartment was clean and very spacious although a little older and slightly dull. Bed a little on the firm side (common in Asia) but still fairly comfortable. As there are not a lot of short stay guests breakfast is more basic than a larger hotel but still nice.

The staff at this hotel were outstanding, very helpful and friendly, could hardly be nicer. The Soi is quite near with laundry nearby and BTS station at the end of the road.

We only had 2 nights here before flying home. Huge room, with kitchen area and dining table, sofa, tv on the wall, balcony (not furnished) separate bedroom, with small bathroom and there was also another separate toilet. We chose not to have breakfast at the hotel due to very early checkout. We really liked our room, quite sparse but that was ok. You could easily stay here for quite a long period due to kitchen area and utensils to cook in and stock the fridge up. We loved the pool on the 14th floor, great views, not lots of sunloungers though. Close to train station and Terminal 21 about 5 min walk away, so good location to get about.

We loved our stay here - my husband, teenage daughter and 2 dogs stayed here over Christmas. All members of staff were so lovely and helpful. The hotel is in a great area and the hotel tuk tuk takes you straight to the nearest BTS station, although it is easily walkable. Also, nearby there are some good restaurants, bars and shops. We couldn't have asked for anything more!!

Great stay in downtown Bangkok

This hotel is situated in a rather quiet street, compared to the busy Sukhumvit, although it's only 3 minutes straight walking from Terminal 21. Rooms are spacious, clean, the amenities are great and the price is as low as it can get for the comfort you have. Would choose it again for a stay in Bangkok.

The location is good. Not too far from bts. The room is big but a bit old. I found a cockroach on a tissue whilst I was going to use that tissue wipe my face. So I called the reception, they just came to my room and changed a different tissue box. I had to asked them to get another room! I know Bangkok is very dirty but a cockroach in a 4 star hotel is not acceptable and very disappointed!

I have booked 2 rooms 202 and 404. Very satisfied for room 204 but as room 202 is near guard house, can be noisy. Also the smell from the drainage is unbearable on the walk to BTS Asoke. Need to do something to clear the drainage else a pity.

I stayed for 4 nights in January. The hotel is very nice. The hotel staff is polite and helpful, some had a little trouble with English, but hey, their English is far better than my Thai and it always worked out. The location is good, close to the BTS but far enough from Sukhumvit Road to be quiet. The rooms are very large, the bed is comfortable, a little firm but that's what I have come to expect in Asia. The bathroom has a large tub and separate shower. I have no complaints about anything at this hotel. I will stay here again.

9-Days in Bkk

Big room but it doesn't fill my other needs.

We were in Bangkok for 9 days. Spent two nights at this hotel.
Pros-The hotel located near a big mall called Terminal 21, 7-11, restaurants and Asoke BTS station within 350 meters. My room was big. It has One and half baths, but we rather have newer or more updated room than more space.
Cons-Found a cockroach in the bathroom. So we requested another room which was given to us. I wish I could have more lights in the room, too dimmed and not luminous enough for my reading. The laminated wooden floor has been deteriorated. Most of the towels were not sparky white. I didn't feel like using them after my shower. Luckily we brought our spare towels. I felt that the room update was needed. It doesn't look as the photos shows on their website.
Service- We found the staffs to be very friendly professional and pleasing.

Staff were very polite and helpful, the rooms were huge and furniture used and layout looked pretty \"posh\" didn't look cheap, just a 3-5 mins walk from Asoke BTS with lots of food shops and convenience stores located just down the road. I stayed 2 weeks as was getting Dental work done at Smile Dental which was close by,
The apartment was big and even had a washing machine plus i got 2 free bottles of water a day.
The staff were very polite respectful and helpful as were all the Thai people i met.
I would recommend staying here as its a quieter area but close too everything as well
Bangkok is a busy place so this Apartment was a welcome escape.

Great location, only 5-10 minute walk to train, Terminal 21 shopping centre and Soi Cowboy. Hotel has a courtesy tuk tuk if you don't feel like the walk.

Room was huge. Seperate bedroom and living area and had a washing machine which was a bonus. Rooftop pool was great.

Reception and housekeeping staff are fantastic. There are cheaper options in the area but you get what you pay for...

Stayed 2 nights. Staff very cordial and helpful. Only the breakfast choice very limited. No restaurant in the hotel. Taxi availability during the day is fine but late evening is difficult. Have to walk to Terminal 21 which is a 10mins walk to get them.

Great hotel in a bustling city!

The hotel is close to the Metro and SkyTrain and an outstanding multi-story shopping center called Terminal 21 (full of terrific restaurants). However, the short walk to these fabulous locations was marred by a stinky canal, an uneven and broken sidewalk, a dangerous intersection, large fearless rats, and enormous cockroaches. All in all, however, the hotel was worth it! From the metro/SkyTrain, and maybe a short Tuk-Tuk ride, one can reach most of the in-town tourist spots in a surprising 30 minutes or so. Taxis take longer because, like every Asian mega-city, traffic chokes the city. There are a million things to do in Bangkok and we found this location put everything within our grasp.

Comfortable, pleasant service apartment hotel

This is the third time I have stayed here and will stay here again. It is just far enough away from the craziness of Sukhamvit to be pleasant and is also in walking distance of Asok Skytrain and Metro. Staff are helpful. No coffee shop or restaurant, but plenty in walking distance.

great 6 nights at Mercure

great location on Sukhumvit. easy 3 min walk to the main road (though traffic can get a little busy but really no big deal). Terminal 21 is right there and the Asok BTS. Hotel staff were very helpful. The rooftop pool is great. We stayed at LOHAS as well and preferred the Mercure's pool.
We stayed 6 nights and were very happy with it. LOHAS was nice as well but farther from Sukhumvit road. Both places have big rooms which we wanted but I'd give the edge to Mercure for the location. The BTS is much closer which helped us a lot.

Lovely big room with two tv's, cd player, fridge, washing machine, microwave, hotplate, electric jug etc. It was a 2 minute stroll to the dentist, 5 minutes to the Skytrain and shopping and restaurants everywhere. Would recommend this hotel, we stayed for 2 weeks, and would stay here again.

a hidden gem

i liked this hotel , despite it being a little out of the way if you have mobility problems. Rooms are excellent and exceedingly clean and kept clean
it has even facility in the rooms known to man
seems management committed to a culture of continuous improvement - good to see

Nice Hotel near Shopping & BRT station.

Instead of my very late arrival, two lady hotel staff was waiting & welcoming for me. But entering my room, I had to pick four dead cockroaches, I was supprised at that. I think now it was some effect of the incecticide. Every day in my stay we went out from hotel in early morning to play golf, therefore we could not have a breakfast.
