The facility is undergoing major works (two storey addition, with scaffolding). My room (ground floor) was nicely renovated, the kitchette was odd - cups and plates at floor level on shelf (I literally resorted to a bowl for my Uber eats as I could not get to the undelying plates), and little bench space. Had to rinse my dishes in the bathroom basin. Wifi was very poor strenght.

On arriving at the hotel, it looked run down and significantly uninviting. The reception was unattended and after waiting for a few minutes I knocked loudly and then called out loudly. Still no-one. I was walking away from Reception when somebody appeared saying they were doing the laundry and hadnt heard me. HOWEVER. The room was fantastic, comfortable and clean and a really great experience.

The five pillows smelt of oily stale hair, abd I don't think the underblanker can have been clean, because I kept on smelling urine. But all the blankets and sheets were clean, as were the kitchen and bathroom facilities. I told the manaher, so hopefully he does something about it.

We checked in and found our room to be dirty! We went for a walk while the helpful lady on reception organised the cleaner to go back in. When we returned, The carpet was still dirty, there was mould in the bathroom, the TV didn't work and there was something disgusting on the switch for the kettle! We asked for another room and was given next door to inspect, there was broken glass in the carpet! We left at that polnt and checked into a motel down the road which was a palace compared to the Takapuna international motor lodge and was not that much more per night. We will never return
