The staff although were nice in some ways, but the reception staff lack experience and knowledge. Although I checked in online before arrival, I had to queue in a long line with other customers who didn’t check in online. That was because the online check-in counter staff was not available. The staff wanted to charge me the room fees again as he couldn’t locate the evidence of payment through Expedia. I refused to pay and had to escalate to a manager who could find my payment in the system. The inexperienced staff just acted as if nothing had happened. I recommend to avoid this hotel!

Food was really good and the staff are great. Only improvement I could say is that some of the maintainence in the rooms isn’t great. If they could do better with the maintainence the hotel would be A+ as the rooms are spacious. Maybe it was just my room but had a couple of bodge job fixes.

We arrived at hotel for one night due to needed a one night stay due to flight change going out. When we arrived staff were rude asking for another £50 deposit which wasn't informed to me on the booking. Got there later at night with young family. And staff weren't going to give me the room unless we paid it all. They were very adamant we didn't get a room. I spoke after hour standing there the situation about wages first thing morning. I can't believe staff to uk young family would get away with treating customer like this.

Review of my stay at this hotel

The hotel could have had a fridge in the room like most hotels I have stayed at. They never even had a bin in the room either. Didn’t have bottled water you have to get it from a tap even tho it was all inclusive.
They charged fifty euros for a deposit when you arrive at the hotel which I don’t know why this is ??
No where on the booking does it say that they do this.

An excellent family-resort-style hotel, super organised, excellent facilities. Great choice of food and drink for all tastes.
Main concern: CHECK-IN ... it took OVER AN HOUR queuing, STANDING IN LINE to check in. Once at the desk the staff were excellent and very helpful. But not a good start to an otherwise excellent holiday.

Great family orientated hotel with super rooms

Lovely comfortable hotel, bright and clean rooms and friendly staff. Rooms are excellent, with nice touches for the deluxe rooms but a shame coffee and milk isn’t replenished.
Location is slightly away from the centre of the resort but easily walkable to most attractions.
Entertainment team are fun with lots of activities.
Food at breakfast and dinner was very good for the most part but quality did vary day to day. Variety and choice was usually good and the staff are helpful.

We liked heated pool water. There was a lot of things to do with kids.
All stay could be perfect but we got room with a view on very noisy street. I have been to some of the party islands but never experienced that much noise during my stay in the hotel room. Noise from around 8pm to 1am. We been told on the reception that it's a family side of the hotel.

You won't regret your choice

We really enjoyed our stay to Abora Buenaventura. It's the ideal place for families with kids.
The good:
- cleanliness is the first thing you notice
- fresh food everyday
- 2 poolbars, a lobby-bar and a snack-bar look more than enough to cover all the tourists - I have to mention that the hotel is huge, more than 750 rooms.
- plenty of activities for kids
- pools were wormed up I believe, despite the air temperatures were high during my stay
- the manager was always among the tourists and was attentive to their needs. He even questioned me.
- 24/24 drinks in lobby-bar
- very confy beds
- our room was cleaned every single day, including the balcony - so a big plus for the cleaning staff.

The bad:
- only 2 hours allocated for breakfast which seemed very crowded but we managed to find table in a short time.
- room a little bit outdated, and minimalist furniture style.

We've had a very good time, the weather was fab and the Dunes in Maspalomas are a must see.

Hotel is massive . We booked the standard view room . Lovely view of pool and sea beyond . Room is lovely, as is the food and the service . The only downside is the animation entertainment is quite noisy if you just want to sit n relax but apart from this a really good holiday .

all staff are wonderful, enjoyable - like the idea that you can pay for a locker which we used post check out.

i do not really like buffets but it was well made! the chefs are making food and it is visible so you see things freshly prepared.

rooms were cleaned each day . we didnt really spend much time at the hotel as we stayed for a short time but it was nice to see swimming pool fitness classes and entertainment . will recommend , taxis easy to get either they were already outside or we asked reception .

The hotel was very spread out which was good when trying to find a sun lounger as there was plenty of room.
The food was good quality and the dining area spacious.
The rooms were a good size with a very comfortable bed and amazing pillows. The shower in the bathroom was very powerful and always hot. I would recomend a stay at this hotel.

Lots of availability throughout the day for snacks and beverages. During these very difficult times of Covid-19 we felt very safe and lots of great measures to keep you safe where in place. Good for families, bad for singles/couples

I stayed in this hotel for 10 nights over winter pride and mostly I enjoyed the experience. Firstly this is a very family orientated hotel. I was a single guy on my own and found it impossible to relax in the first room they gave me. The room was very nice but was so noisy with the live shows from the stage. The way the hotel is designed the sound echos all around the complex and makes it impossible to get a siesta before heading out for the evening. The very helpful lady on reception (Mara L) did move me to a quieter room, but that was much smaller and a lower rated room to which I paid for, so I felt slightly conned. The grounds are very relaxing tho, very well kept and as long as you can immerse yourself in your own music (as the stage noise is still prevalent on that side of the hotel) is quite chilled. I chose breakfast only and not fully inclusive, which was excellent. They charged for the safe, which I thought was incredibly mean. I know a lot of hotels do this, but there's no excuse, it's just money grabbing.
So in summary this hotel is fine for families, but definitely not suitable for singles or couples who come to PDI for the nightlife.

The crew was always friendly and pleasing.

Good food, good view. Staff service isn't so great though, you're definitely not treated as individual as in other hotels but moved along. We came in late and I needed cash for the driver, the front desk, my first experience was a sarcastic man telling me where to find the ATM and I got the impression the staff (him and his colleague) weren't interested in spending much time with us despite there not being anyone there.
Some staff are pleasant but in general service not as great as other places including all inclusives I've stayed in.

Last Minute Family Getaway

We have just returned from a short break at Abora Buenaventura and I can honestly say we had an amazing stay from start to finish. We stayed in room 301 which was perfect for us as it was right opposite the children’s splash park. I loved how accommodating the hotel were they went as far as providing a step up stool for my 2 year old so she could reach the loo and sink easily. Considering that we visited during the pandemic, this hotel was very hands on and cleaning up very often, there is also a one way system in place and masks must be worn at all times except by when using the pools or dining in the restaurant. The hotel is very modern and walking distance to the English beach. Lots of shops and restaurants are also within walking distance. I wish the food could have been a tad bit better with catering to non pork eaters but saying that there is so much to choose from. I will definitely recommend staying here.

Second time round at this hotel after the upgrade. We were not disappointed. Hotel rooms were much better, food still high quality and good variety. When you walked to the beach everyday it worked you well and it was good about 3 to 4 miles there and back.

Excellent Hotel, Great Location!

Just arrived back from IFA Buenaventura after 1 week. This is a large hotel which you would expect to be packed out to the rafters, however the resort has plenty to offer and the hotel managed use its space wisely so that guests where not on top of each other. This hotel was clean, friendly ideally located for a variety of restaraunts, bars and shops. The hotel is economical and ideal for solo visitors or families. The pool facilities were amazing. Overall this hotel deserves its rating and despite its size is clearly well run.

Hotel with poor YFI service close to the beach.

This is the first hotel I've stayed where I've had to pay for the YFI service in my room even though the service was far worse than in any other hotel I've stayed in. It's true that the YFI service was much better in the bar room and also free in that location but surely most people prefer the convenience of a good YFI service in their own room. The television was rather old and not terribly efficient. Often the picture would freeze accompanied with a NO SIGNAL notice but there were two English language news programmes. Also, in my first week there were several nights when my hands felt cold. There was no radiator and no thermostat to increase the heating.

Outdated and poor service hotel. Pricy all-inclusive fees with extra charges for pool towels or a minibar. I was given out a list of not-included which is pretty much anything any all-inc would offer anyways. A deposit asked everything (plan for plenty checkout time to get it back). All other amenities are private services embedded in the hotel. Most restaurants and bars are not opened at a time, lots of dead time. Half of the places are not covered by the all-inclusive. Outdated rooms, worn-out towels, old tvs, hard mattresses, no control for the A/C (no fans). Most people that work here are nice but seem real tired. Kids club absent during the day, it's just a 45 min show late night. Not a single smoke free spot. Honolulu bar/pool area opened late/real noisy parties (ask for opposite side if you want to sleep). Pool beds run out real early, despite the no-reservation policy. Goods: Free parking, room cleaning, the elevator works, entertainment mostly for adults is good and New Year's dinner well organized and good. I think it is overpriced and not real all-inclusive.

Good and clean hotel.

Hotel is large mainly german visitors who despite notices asking not to put their towels on sunbeds early in the morning did so every day before 9am which was frustrating. The staff were attentive when required but some of them we found rather neutral in stature and it seemed like they were not really enjoying their jobs. The entertainment teams were great and did a great job as did the waiting staff and chefs in the restaurant.
The food choice was vast at every sitting with cooked meats and vegetables varied every evening which was a nice touch. The puddings were really tasty and choice of cakes etc was great. The food was all perfectly cooked and to our taste. No drinks however in the evening without paying extra I thought was a bit tight, even if it was just fruit juice from the machine as per breakfast.
The room although basic was very clean but could of done with a more modern tv with better tuning as most channels did not work, could only get bbc news in english.
The swimming pools were great with spas in two pools on one side of the hotel.
The gardens are nice with some very pretty trees and bushes.
Hotel was approx 10mins walk from the beach / dunes area. Buses L66 and L90 serve to and from the airport 3.5 euros (20-30mins),bus stop is about 3mins walk away next to the Maspalmos Plaza.Pretty frequent every 30mins or so throughout the day.You wont find any bus route maps but all bus stops have routes displayed and bus number timetables.
Lots of restaurants nearby.

Had high expectations after seeing many reviews but wasnt impressed at all. Not great... They charge extra for a ton of stuff even when you are all inclusive. My favoirte was a 14 euro charge for an iron, which if you wanted it they had to call some guy to go get it from out of the hotel. Gym is extra.... of course you can only drink at certain bars at certain times. The beds might be the worst in the industry. Pluses - room was very clean and staff were very friendly. But it will take you ages to get checked in so plan hours to do so. The food was less than to be desired. We ate there the first 3 days and they finally just went out for meals.

Very disappointed.

The additional hidden charges. The staff were rude. No people skills whatsoever. Very misleading with the snacks, not 11-11 as advertised. They had left over breakfast cereal and fish soup as a snack! Flies all over the food. You can't get a cup of water to take with medication between 11-11 unless you go to breakfast. Illegal substances were being smoked on the premises. Nothing was done to stop this. The noise outside in the evenings was too loud to sleep.

Perfect for families

I headed out to Gran Canaria with no idea of what to expect and travelling alone, and the price and quality of this hotel looked perfect. I was not wrong.
Honestly for me I would not return, but purely down to the fact that as someone travelling alone, headed mostly for the yumbo centre and the south beaches across the dunes, this hotel was not ideally located for me, and as the clientele tended to be mostly families and couples I didn't find it very sociable, as I did with other hotels I visited in the area.
I would recommend this hotel more as a place to go and stay for the whole week, but not necessarily if you prefer to be constantly out and about. Perfect for families and couples.
The breakfast was very large, although the quality of the cooked English did not quite meet my tastes. However with such a large variety, you can't go too far wrong.

I found it difficult to find fault with this hotel- huge room, good shower, lovely swimming pools, multiplpe bars, entertainment available every night. Location is perfect for restaurants and bars, which are the only think in between you and the short walk to the beach.

IFA Buenaventura

Having stayed in GC before and visited a number of Hotels, IFA Buenaventura would defiantly be the top of my list. There are a few down sides to the hotel; there is no Air Con in the rooms or fridges and the restaurant can get unbearably hot at dinner time. That said, the benefits greatly outweigh the down sides. The food is the best I have had in GC with the hotel offering a BBQ outdoors which is cooler than inside and no restriction on high quality food. Although it appears to mostly suited to Germans, there is a huge selection of food to keep everyone happy and I was pleasantly surprised at the abundance and quality of meat available! Finally the hotel staff were the most friendly and helpful I have ever come across. They are willing to bend over backwards to help and some were quite entertaining (BBQ staff and Restaurant staff). The hotel operates a continuous improvement policy (ISO9001) and it is evident that they stand true to that culture. I would highly recommend considering booking this hotel and opting for all Inclusive option!

The hotel was clean and pleasant and staff helpful. We had asked for a ground floor room or by the lift as I have mobility difficulties. We had a ground floor room that was pleasant however it was close to the recreation /bar at reception so was noisy. Double doors which would have prevented some noise were always fastened open. The long corridor outside our room seemed to have one purpose to allow children and teenagers to race up and down especially in the middle of the night. There was plenty for families and the food was very good.

Great hotel, staff, food & entertainment

Excellent hotel, great staff. Entertainment by the animation team was great as well. My wife loved all the water earobics, my 2yr old son the kids entertainment. I liked the cocktail games. Recommend to go for all inclusive if you plan to eat most dinners in the hotel anyway.

Ok for a night stop over

We had a day to kill before checking in to time share. Room was large but bare and bland- would not want to spend weekend or week there. Desk check in was courteous, breakfast expensive; parking easy on roundabout. Motel type place, but ok.

Spacious accommodation

Large, busy hotel popular with Germans and basically very good value. Room very large for the price with separate seating area and a large balcony. Quite a distance to reception from the room I stayed in but no problem if you need to walk off a few pounds! Enjoyed my stay here

New Year 2011/2012 stay

Spent New Year at this hotel. Stayed on a bed and breakfast basis, which was good. Breakfasts were plentiful and you could go all day until dinner out after helping yourself to the buffet style breakfasts.
Room was large and had double bed with seating area, TV, desk and balcony seating overlooking gardens. When we arrived the door key entry system did not work for our room, however the staff let us in and replaced the door system the following day.
Room was cleaned daily (with the exception of one day, where our room was overlooked due to a misunderstanding) with fresh towels given daily.
Did not use the pool facilities as close to beach (5-10 mins walk). Sun-beds by pool were 'reserved' early by residents placing towels out, which was against hotel policy, but seemed to be allowed.
Hotel lifts were temperamental and only two working out of 4. Long walk (approx 10 mins) to get to our room - especially to get back to reception when we coud get into the room on day one.
All in all a pleasing hotel, close enough to beach, yet far enough away from too much noise at night from nightlife - however note- road leading up to hotel is frequented by loud annoying women 'touting for business' if you walk back late at night!

Fantastic time

We had a fantastic time, the staff was very helpful and friendly, the food was great and the members of the animation team-even though at times they can be irritating by insisting you take part in all these games- they made us laugh and kept us entertained!! The only thing we did not like was towels \"sunbathing\" on empty sunbeds! It seemed that a large portion of the German guests primarily would put a towel on sunbeds first thing in the morning to make sure they had access to the sunniest spot.

Good spacious clean rooms.
Entertainment could be better with less reliance on the reps. The reps though are very good especially Olga who is so funny
Very good restaurant which is self service and can be a bit chaotic but not too much.
The hotel offers half board and all inclusive The half board who pay for drinks get waiter service but all inclusive have to leave the table and queue.
I expected a few drunks at an all inclusive but no since the guest are couples and families no evidence of groups of stag or hen everyone seemd to be drinking in moderation.
For all inclusive you can vertually eat at any time of day but breakfast and evening meal was enough and we didnt bother.
If you visit dont just sit in the Hotel get a guide book and see the island, Playa de Morgan is worth a visit and the buses are cheap and run from just round the corner
Ive been twice now and would go again

Very good holiday option

We spent a week there with all included.
The hotel is well located, a 5-10 minute walk from the beach.
The room was quite big and confortable. The bathroom was clean and adequate, but is starting to get quite old and lacks shampoo and shower gel.
The pool areas were great, the only problem being the lack of space for sunbathing. The daily animation was quite good and a very good way to spend the nights.
The \"all included\" was a good option, but it has too many exceptions, not much more than full board with basic drinks. The meals were quite diversified and well cooked. Dinner end at 21h30, which can be a bit early in excursion days.
The staff in the reception, pool areas and pool bars were quite friendly, but the service is far from perfect in the restaurant and the snack bar, which was almost always closed or empty.

Good value for your money BUT NO AC/FANS in rooms!

Our room was big and comfortable. It had been updated with a brand new and very clean bathroom with higher quality fixures. The furniture in the room was newer as was the carpeting. The pools (I think there were at least 5) where very nice and new. Alot of money was spent on these remodels but they should have added either AC to the rooms or spent $40 on a room fan.

We had to rent a fan from the hotel, who doesnt keep them there. They send a request to an outside company who then brigs the fan ($20 for the week? or $60 for an AC for the week?) to the reception desk. YOU still have to call the front desk to see if it arrived (usually within an hour) and then YOU have to go downstairs to pick it up from them. This was ridiculous, especially since some of the nicest resort hotels end to be owned by Spanish companies like Lopesan and Sol etc.

very nice, but I wish I knew some things ahead of time

We stayed in Buenaventura for 5 days with my two kids (9 and 13 y.o.). For three of us the room was big enough, because we didn't need to unfold the couch. For 4 people we would have to unfold the couch - it would probably be a bit small. We booked a half-board option, i.e. breakfast and dinner. Things to know: at dinner you HAVE to buy beverages. They won't even serve you water for free, so bring your money. And they are not very cheap - bottle of water 2 Eu, same for juices, etc. At breakfast, however - all the same drinks are free, plus tea and coffee. Food is very good in terms of variety of fruit and vegetables available. Good fish dishes and seafood.

For the room: the blankets are very thin and so are the pillows. If you get cold easily you might as well ask for extra right away ( provided very quickly). (We stayed there in March - it was not exactly hot.)

There is NO shampoo or conditioner or any kind of lotion provided in your bathroom. You can by it all in the little store downstairs - totally overpriced, of course. Or walk a couple of blocks to the nearest supermarket and get it a bit cheaper.

One nice thing which was unexpected to me: after we checked out in the morning we were offered to store our luggage and a 30 min access to one of the rooms so we could shower and change before going to the airport in the evening. It is part for their hospitality routine and it made a big difference for our long trip home.

Hotel IFA Buenaventura

Just returned from a very enjoyable stay at this hotel. The reception staff were cordial and efficient and the check in process simple and quick. The food was better than the usual buffet style offerings, always hot, pretty varied and overall quite enjoyable.The entertainment staff whilst not the most talented performers were the hardest working and friendly I have ever encountered, and catered for all ages. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone.
