Ideal location. Decent little room (only down side was that the bed was positioned awkwardly under an attic style roof). No issues with the shared bathroom. Breakfast was okay- cereal, porridge, toast etc. It states free parking but this is a first come first serve on a main public road so not really free parking. Overall great for the price and would go again!

Andrea’s Guesthouse was exactly what we had hoped it would be. Reasonable, right in the middle of some amazing shops, Loki’s, some pastry places.

I would happily recommend Andrea’s to friends and family, and yes we would stay here again!

Picked this guesthouse for location, it's 200m from the big church in Reykavik, and downtown so it's perfectly situated. Dealing with property beforehand was challenging, they aren't great with replying to any emails I sent before our arrival. Room was fine and we shared bathrooms with other rooms in the guesthouse. Lots of rooms sharing few bathrooms. It did have a kitchen we could cook meals so that was good. I didn't like that it didn't seem to get cleaned during our two night stay. The garbage can in the shared kitchen and bathrooms were overflowing and never got emptied in our stay. It seems Guesthouse Andrea is part of a larger group owned guesthouses, at least three different buildings managed together. Breakfast was served for all guesthouses at a one location, so we had to go around the corner for breakfast, which was always super crowded and noisy and lining up for food. Lots of food, just had to wait in a line up. Staff wasn't super friendly, not like other guesthouses we stayed in during our trip in Iceland. Not that they were rude, just not super friendly. Finally parking, part of the reason I picked this Guesthouse was that it advertised parking included. What it neglected to mention, until I was arriving at the destination, was that the free parking meant street parking. So yes free parking, if you could find it. We had to circle the neighbourhood a couple times to get spots. So a bit misleading I thought.

Centrally located. Near pretty much everything in Reykjavik. No frills, it's a bed for plopping down on after touring and sightseeing. Breakfast is good.

We booked the Studio and while it would have been fine for a short getaway with friends, it was not good for a family trip. The \"private bathroom\" was in a shared hallway. We were able to lock it once we got there but before it was open to everyone to use. The bathroom smelled of mildew so we tried to avoid it other than when absolutely necessary.
The kids liked having their own beds. The mattress on the double was worn out and sunk to the middle. This did not allow a comfortable nights sleep. The refrigerator did not work and there was exposed wiring. At least there was an abundance of electrical plugs. I was able to connect to the WiFi but even webpages were painfully slow to load.
Being in the loft, the room had a unique layout and some charm. Breakfast was good and only thing that saved this stay. I highly recommend the fresh bread.

Guest House Aurora is nice

This is a place near city center in Reykjavik so very convenient. It’s a no frills place to plop down for sleeping and no more. One nice thing is the breakfast they provide in the morning to start your day.

Amazing location and everything I needed. Breakfast was simple but replenished frequently. Free parking was easy to find on the street. I would suggest earplugs and an eye mask for extra comfort, the rooms are quite active at night.

Perfectly Adequate Hostel

Centrally located, everything within walking distance. ZERO parking in downtown Reykjavik, would not recommend if renting a car. Hostel has 3 floors, steeeeep stairs by American standards. Shared bathrooms. Towels upon request (stack of towels was left out for late check in). Beds are typical European (short bedding, one comforter per person). Our room was under the roof (roofline very low) leaving half of the room practically unusable (crawl or sit). Room was super tight, cramped but functional for two nights. We had the emergency exit in our room, which included the corresponding Exit sign that lit up the room like a Christmas tree. Had to engineer a cover to be able to sleep. Property is adequately clean. Shower water is hot, pressure is great but smells distantly like sulfur. Breakfast is generous with varieties of (wonderful) breads, jams, cereals, hard boiled eggs, coffee, tea etc. Check in instructions were mildly confusing, but can be figured out (ALWAYS GO TO AURORA Guesthouse first).

Highly Recommended!

We really enjoyed our stay at Guesthouse Andrea! The room was clean, comfortable, and perfect for our needs (a family of three). The breakfast served each morning was delicious.

The location was very convenient in that it was within easy walking distance of many areas we wanted to see in the city. It's also not far (about a ten-minute walk) from the BSI Bus Terminal, which is where the Flybus and our tours departed from.

What's more, the staff were very friendly and accommodating and happy to help, especially when our flight arrived early and we needed our room earlier than planned.

We highly recommend Guesthouse Andrea. If we ever return to Reykjavik, which I hope to do, I plan to stay here again!

Good base for exploring

Quick stop off holiday, this accommodation was convenient with good location for transport links and parking. Sleeping arrangement are basic but good as a base. Breakfast was good, check-in in via Guesthouse Aurora which isn't very clear on booking. All in all a good place if you just want a sleep base for exploring

We booked a four-beds room, very small. The shared washroom is very small too, and it's for the whole floor. Noisy surrounding. To have the breakfast we had to walk pass two buildings to get into the basement of another building where their dining room was, the dining room was very small for so many people from the different buildings. Overall it was not a good experience.

We were literally given a basement room, that is on both sides it was below grade level. I did not expect it.
On the check in raining day, we have to walk with our luggage on an emergency exit platform, where the rain water gave us a good shower due to incomplete downspout. Sulphur smell was bothering too.

Parking is free but very rare to find. The rooms were very basic and at street level with the heads of the beds against the window which was rather hard to stop sunlight getting in (21h of sunlight, 3 hours of dusk at best). So perhaps thicker curtains would be helpful.

Breakfast was really good and had a large selection. Our kitchen came with utensils and plates. The bathroom was small but got the job done. However i didnt like that the back door was always open and had workers doing jobs in the backyard.

Overall its a beautiful city and you can easily walk to the downtown core in 10 mins. Nice place to stay if you just need somewhere to sleep and place all your luggage. My girlfriend and i enjoyed our stay here!

The room was clean. Very simple accommodations with a bed and table/desk and chair. If you want a place to sleep, it does the trick. Not any space for lounging. Kitchen in Andrea House was sparse, almost as if a deterrent for cooking. A quick heat up would have been nice; we ended up heating the entire oven for making toast. With that, the morning breakfast at the Aurora house location was great. Both the communal bathroom and kitchen were clean:). Location was great… quick walk to BSI and many establishments. Would definitely stay again.

Although check in could be a tad confusing, overall we really enjoyed this property. Location excellent- good restaurants, Rainbow Street just 5 mins walk, bus stop 8 about 3 mins walk. Would love to have coffee in the room but I think this may be an American luxury so it’s understandable. We had the 3rd level which had two twins and one full size bed. It was perfect for a family. Nice to have a small kitchen and fridge. We can’t wait to get back to Iceland and would certainly stay here again.

A 2 Day stay in Reykjavík

The location was great as it is just steps away from Hallgrímskirkja, the Leif Erikson statue and downtown. Breakfast is provided in the main building in the basement where check-in is also done. I stayed in another building across the street from the main building which had several private rooms, a miniature kitchen and shared bathroom. Overall, I would definitely stay here again when I return to Iceland.

Happy with the room, which had a fridge and a microwave. The window for the shower room was fixed open, making the showers a little cold and the floor only had one toilet.
Breakfast was simple and included.
We parked near the church for free, and it takes less than 15 mins to walk into the centre of the city.

Decent location but Reykjavik is the most walkable city you're likely to find anywhere, so it doesn't really end up being a plus when all is said and done. The facilities are old, creaky, and frankly disgusting. Hardly any room service during our 8-day stay. The shared bathroom situation is just as unpleasant as it sounds, and I regret staying here when there were so many other options available just blocks away. Also, they are not flexible at all with your check-in time, so if you arrive in Iceland on an early morning flight, you'll be wandering around tired for hours before you can get your room. Not a great experience overall. Just stay somewhere else in Reykjavik.

I rarely write negative reviews but I would truly encourage travelers to choose a different property in Reykjavik. Breakfast was not included as promised, and when we asked the receptionist, the man was quite rude and dismissive. When I asked him how he would rectify the situation he said he would make breakfast... for a fee that I'm sure he planned to pocket. We also heard him telling another group that \"maybe he would make breakfast tomorrow...\" and it was clear that breakfast supplies were in the kitchen, making us believe that breakfast was only made when the staff felt like it.

Additionally, another woman who worked at the property physically barged into me, pushing me into a counter. She was incredibly rude and aggressive when I expressed my frustration, saying things like \"are you blind?\" and \"what is wrong with you?\" I have never experienced anything like it and am shocked by the level of blatant disrespect expressed by someone who makes their living in the hospitality industry.

There were other small annoyances, too. The coffee maker smelled a bit musty/moldy, and the property put a chain lock on the fridge overnight, making it difficult for us to retrieve our food the next morning. The rooms and bathrooms were fine, but nothing special. Public parking was available nearby.

Overall, I would really recommend other travelers to stay elsewhere and not support a property who treats their guests with such abject rudeness and disrespect.

Room is smaller than expected. Really noisy place as it's near the road. Pillows and sheets looks really dirty. Host also changed our rooms at the last minute to be closer to the main road. Heater in the room was also not functioning. Only saving grace is that the place is central.

We requested a double room but ended up with two singles - which was fine, we just pushed them together! That was the only downside. The room and shared bathroom were spotless and the breakfast was a lovely surprise as I didn't realise this was included! Would definitely stay here again, especially considering the price! Excellent location also.

I stayed in the Guesthouse Aurora which is I think the main property and where reception was. I had a private single w/ shared bathroom. It was clean warm and comfortable. It was less than a 5 min walk to Tour Bus Stop 8. It's in City Centre so it makes a Great base to walk around and take in the sights. Breakfast was OK. Great selection of hardy whole grain freshly baked breads & cereals! However, with a wheat and dairy allergy, I was confined to the boiled eggs, ham, tomato & cucumber. Can't complain, it's was enough to get me through the morning.
