We stayed in the penthouse apartment. The room was clean and stylish. The heated bathroom floor was a dream! But the best aspect of Ice Apartments was its location - right in the downtown area, literally steps away from great shopping, restaurants, and nightlife and 2 blocks from the bus stop to all excursions.

I would have been 5 stars if we didn't have a problem entering the building. The keycode sent to us was correct but the door lock was sticking due to a loose screw and we were having a hard time opening the door for 15+ minutes. We reported the issue on Saturday morning and after exchanging several chat messages with support personnel, we managed to pull the door open, but were affraid to close it again, so we put a door mat in the doorway to prevent door from closing. Noone showed up to fix the door until Monday morning, when we were checking out. Otherwise, the apartment itself was great, clean, warm and pretty and the location is great, so absent the door issue, everything else was good.

Location is best for everything you want to do in Reykjavik including connections to all tours. Apartment was clean and well heated.
Weird that it does not have a dining table with chairs to eat and the kitchen supplies are not complete so prevents you from actually cooking.

The place was a great stay. The beds were comfortable. They supplied absolutely everything we needed. The propery guide was perfect!
The area was quiet and yet close to everything. The communication was great. It was also so close to bus stop 6 and luggage lockers that it made everything so convenient.
The only things that could use improvement was that the coffee machine was dirty when we arrived so we did not use it. Additionally, the door handles are very sharp and you can't really open the bedroom door all the way to keep them out of the way to avoid injury. I would suggest changing them to rounded door knobs if they're going to be in the way because the sharp handles caused bruises and cuts.

Very Hard to find the entrance. Took 15 minutes with the help of a local residence to find it.

The place is walkable to the city highlights which is really great but we dislike the walkway going in out of the apartment with our luggage as the walkway is with gravel and not cemented. Also, there’s no exhaust fan in the kitchen to absorbed the smell when cooking. Surrounding is safe. It would be great for passengers arriving early there’s should be a safe luggage storage while waiting for the check in time.

Didnt like that there was no second lock on the door, a chain lock would go along way especially since my door code worked for all doors i tried, which is very concering. Bathroom door handle was falling off, door didnt fit properly had to use whole body to close / open it. Every morning at about 7am someone would open and close the exterior door allowing it to slam shut waking us up every damn time. For being a luxurious place, the bathroom smelt like pee when we got there. Only good thing was communication for check in / checkout, was very easy.

Nice Apartment in Poor Immediate Surroundings
Nicely designed unit well located yet quietly tucked away from the main drag. There were a few minor issues like a broken shade pull, empty or broken shower dispenser (random other bottled products were either provided or left behind by other guests) and a bathroom light that repeatedly turns off during the course of showering, requiring nearly stepping out repeatedly in complete darkness to activate the motion sensor/light activator (our particular sensor did not feature the on/off/auto switch on the bottom described in the online apartment guide). The biggest issue is the condition of the building’s surroundings and approach to the unit, which gives a really poor impression upon first arrival – lots of trash, random pots and other items in poor condition, weeds, and many rocks across the stairway (looks like years of accumulation) which you must navigate carefully to avoiding slipping on for a bad fall! In addition, the common trash bins are quite nasty and nearby graffiti and other negatives give an unsafe impression. One guest was overheard saying he hoped their car was still there in the morning.

Great location in Reykjavik. Easy access to parking in the Tradarkot parking garage. It is a nice sized suite with everything we needed including a kitchenette with: sink, dishwasher, microwave, stove top, mini fridge and washer/dryer which was so helpful. Changes I would suggest are to add some nonslip mats in the shower and bathroom as the floor tiles, while beautiful, are quite slick. And a fan for summer.

The location was perfect, and the property itself was very nice though the room was a bit smaller than I thought because the stairwell is calculated as part of the square footage. The shower had a slow drain but it was promptly fixed due to great communication and responsiveness from property management.

The place was located right at the end of the rainbow road in the heart of midborg. I would recommend earplugs if you're there on a Friday/Saturday night, but otherwise nice and quiet.

This is an excellent location for people watching. We were on the 3rd floor over looking the start of the ‘rainbow road’ looking down toward the big church. So many people stop to take pictures providing a constant flow of passersby’s. The only thing to be aware of is the street noise all night long, but that comes with the area. We loved it!

When we entered our shower was on. It was unable to be turned off. Not sure how the cleaning person did not notice. Maintance person was able to turn the lower head on and off with a screwdriver. The shower was supposed to be fixed the next day. Nobody ever showed. Glass was broken all over the parking lot. Lucky we did not get a flat tire. I had to call for my apartment code. The building and apartment codes were the same. Unsafe part was I could enter another building with the same code. Beware. Nothing was done to make amends.

We wanted to be immersed in the Dutch culture & this property felt like we were. I traveled with my 2 adult daughters so wanted more space than a small hotel room. The bedroom contained 2 single beds & the living room had a pull out couch & all were very comfortable for sleeping. The kitchen area had everything needed for our stay.

The bathroom like did not turn off even after 2 workmen \"fixed' it. We got 1 hand towel and 2 bath towels. the staff was responsive, but we should have had adequate towels when we arrived.
The TV worked and you could watch many different programs. There were some cooking equipment and dining ware.

We had a wonderful stay at the Ice Apartments. The location was great as it’s directly across the rainbow street. The apartment was very clean and spacious. Bed was very comfortable. The water pressure was awesome! If I were to be picky, there was a little incident with the microwave that I had to report but their response was prompt so it’s all good. Over-all, I would definitely stay again.
Caviat: parking can be difficult so I suggest to get a PARKA app. It tells you where would be the best available parking spot and it lets you view parking rates. We parked across the apartment which was way easier than going to the Tradarkot parking garage (super compact parking spaces) as suggested in the parking instruction. The parking spot is called Laugavegur 3.

Having an access code for entry was very convenient; it made check-in and out really easy. I loved how furnished the space was. There were lots of kitchen utensils, cookware, and appliances. The bathroom was clean with extra toilet paper rolls and even color-safe shampoo and conditioner, a thoughtful touch. The carpet and curtains were a little dirty. I wanted to wash my hands and feet every time I touched them... bathroom floor also wasn't as heated as I expected. Lastly, the bed was a little too springy and pillows a little too flat. I still slept okay but if upgrades are in the talks, those would be my suggestions :) like everyone else has said, location is great. I really liked that it was in the middle of the block so we had both privacy and convenience to rainbow road. Potentially would consider staying here again.

The Ice Apartments were located in a very centralized downtown area of Reykjavik. It was actually next to the famous Rainbow street which made it very convenient to all the shops, restaurants, and points of interest. It was very easy to walk to Bonus grocery store which was a plus for us since we decided to cook some of our meals in the apartment. The outside of the apartment building was just ok--not as pretty as the pictures online but it was decent. The inside of the apartment, however, was just as nice as in the pictures. Clean, spacious, and had all the amenities described online. We did run into a problem with the washer/dryer combo. Not user friendly as it kept erroring out and not completely drying our clothes. We eventually just looked for a laundry mat and used the washer and dryers there (laundry mat was a 5 min walk from apartment). There was also a sensor light for the bathroom and unfortunately, when you are in the shower, it doesn't detect movement so the light will turn off so had to always stick my hand out of the shower and wave to turn lights on. This happened every minute so it was bothersome. Overall, we were still very satisfied with our stay because of the cleanliness and the location of the property and would definitely stay here again when we visit Reykjavik in the future.

Going to just start this off by saying there was no elevator, with a 3 story walk up I felt this should have been highlighted better and a warning before booking made now on to the important stuff; Location location location and you could not beat this one. Was it a bit tricky to spot yes but it is behind another building which added some privacy given how central it was located. I also didn’t receive check in instructions until the day before after finding a blurb on Expedia that you need to contact the hotel 48hrs ahead. Despite this the instructions are crystal clear and made it much easier to find. There is no parking but Reykjavík is a nightmare for parking and you’ll probably need a car so hopefully long before booking you’ll be aware of this and it won’t come at such a blow. the apartment itself could not have been cuter, very Scandinavian in decor. all the space was welcomed as were the many appliances. bed was cozy. we were expecting a smell to the shower based on previous reviews and a different place we had stayed but were pleasantly surprised to find incredible water pressure without the sulphur. no noise issues noted and we stayed on a friday night before an early morning flight. overall would highly recommend if youre looking for space location and dont mind stairs

Great location with everything you could ask for. The host was very attentive through email and it was easy to get into. We were a family of 3 and it worked great, we had a little more privacy’s than a regular hotel room and we loved the towel warmers! The apartments are little tucked in, but when looking at the parking house map we figured it out. My only advisory is that there is no parking on site and you need to park at a parking house which is pretty much right beside it and over night parking is very reasonable, unlike the drinking and eating haha. The only issue with the parking is that it closes from midnight to 7am. We had an issue one day but parked elsewhere hoping we wouldn’t get a ticket, and hopefully we didn’t. If anyone can advocate for a 6am open for that parking house (garage) that would be great, as most people visiting Iceland may have a day where they have an early morning tour. Thanks for the great stay!

The only thing was the balcony view looked out onto green bins/garbage bin but that was minor since again we were so close to the Main Street. The property is central, clean and comfortable, however, there is no luggage storage and check inis very rigid, the access code does not activate until 3pm exactly even thought the property was cleaned and ready ( we tried at 2.45pm). I had to repair the bathroom sensor light and the sound on the TV needed configuring as the sound bar was not working and despite all this when I asked for a 1 hr later check out we were told 30 euro for an extra 2 hrs.

The staff at the Ice Apartments were also very friendly, responsive, and helpful. I would absolutely recommend the Ice Apartments.

These apartments were nice inside and clean. However, there was a noise coming from the heating unit through the day and night that made it hard to sleep. Also, it is back in an alley and there is a fair amount of trash and other items strewn amount so it wasnt a very welcoming place from the outside. No elevators were difficult for the older folks in our group. The location and cleanliness were the main redeeming qualities.

This was such a a good location to see the sites in the city center. Bus stop number 6 is close by for drop off and pick up. Small grocery store was very close. Souvenir shops galore near by. We walked Rainbow street to the church, we walked to Harpa, the Parliament Building, City Hall. We were very pleased with the location. The apartment itself was clean and very comfortable, even the sofa bed. Everything we needed to make our stay comfortable was there. The communication with Ice Apartments was excellent. They even allowed us to leave our luggage at the base of the stairs after we checked out, until we were ready to leave. They also communicated during our stay to make sure everything was okay. It was an excellent stay!! I highly recommend the apartment! PS: The stairway, though steep, had a sturdy railing so the person in our group who had some issues with stairs felt safe.

My parents and I stayed here for 5 days. We brought food with us, since meals and food are terribly expensive in Iceland. The kitchens facilities were great for what we needed. And host was extremely timely and responsive whenever I had a question. The door code for entry was very frustrating in the beginning, but then I called the host and we sorted it out. It was fine after that. The location is perfect. Right in the heart of the city and very walkable to everything. Bus stop #6 is super close, for when you are taking buses for tours or airport drop off/pick up. Bed was very comfortable. I would definitely stay here again. Price point was great, especially for what you get and the location.

Lack of parking and fear of being towed is a huge drawback for this property.

Ice apartments are a lovely place to stay while in 101 Reykjavik. Perfect location right at rainbow street, modern clean apartments and great communication with owners. They let me check in early as a courtesy and that was very nice of them as they didn’t have to do that for us. The restaurants and bars nearby were great as was being close to attractions like the rainbow road and cathedral. The inside had everything we needed and a great space. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again. It was clean, well stocked and had everything you could want for a short stay (microwave, stove, fridge, coffee machine, etc). It was a really cool apartment close to tons of restaurants, bars and a 24 hour parking structure. The bathroom light was a bit confusing and not intuitive to use (it's on a sensor) but they had an online manual that you can access once inside that explained how it worked. We also had a tough time finding the building - it is behind the buildings on the street, in a sort of court yard. But again, we really enjoyed our stay and would stay there again

The apartment was extremely comfortable and convenient to the the historic downtown area. I’m so glad we picked it! I had considered other hotels further away from the main area, and I would have missed the charm of the historic town. Without knowing Reykjavik, I was taking a chance. I would definitely stay here again! My teenage daughter loved Reykjavik out all of the countries we visited including Denmark, Germany, France and Spain. She particularly liked our stay at Ice Apartments.

Fantastic apartments in the centre of Reykjavik. Really clean, warm and cosy with comfortable beds and sofa bed. Lovely shower and the kitchen was fantastic with everything you needed. Great base to explore Iceland which meant we could make breakfast and a picnic lunch. A small shop just a stone’s throw away. Even being in the centre the apartments were quiet. Great communication before our stay and checking in on us whilst there. The only very small negative is it was a bit tricky to find but if you have google maps that helps. Our flight was early in the morning so we booked our luggage into storage using bounce.com and went exploring until we could get in at 3pm.
