Everything about this property worked great for our stay. Staff and facilities were excellent.

Please note that this site is very close to the regional airport where the tourist helicopters depart from, so there is quite a lot of noise during the day. This didn't bother us too much, and all the benefits of the establishment itself being quiet compensated for the airport noise.

Also, if having a room without a television is an issue for you, remember to bring a device on which to view your favorite shows and movies like we did!

Walkable to the bus station. The room was more spacious than some hotels I stayed in. Very comfortable stay and quiet. It was entirely self service with very clear instructions from the staff via email. I didnt explore the area around it as i got in late and just needed a bed before getting to the bus station for a ride to the airport.

The property was excellent, hospitality was top rated, no issues with checkin and checkout. Walkable distance from Bsi bus terminal.
Just few bits that might need attention or improvement are
The room didn't have a litter bin, there was one in the toilet but a small one.
The toilet door could have been better, as the current door is just a sheet of wood with sliders fixed at top, Perhaps one on slider hinges on the bottom would make it more stable. There was also no handle on it.

But overall no complaints it was a pleasant stay and we'd book again.

The property was super convenient for the shuttle bus to the KEF airport. We had to catch an early bus, so that's why we chose here to stay. It's also about a 20 minute walk or a short bus ride to downtown Reykjavik. There are a couple of places to eat nearby. The place was extra clean and checkin was very straightforward.

It was superficially clean, but the mould on the room's walls impacted my allergies. There was one electrical outlet. It seems they cared very little about satisfied guests, as the only reason for its location was being across from the Flybus station. I recommend this place for that, and that alone

Check in was very easy and communication good. Location was great, straight over from bus terminal and 15 min walk from Reykjavik centre.

I selected this guesthouse for arrival night and later departure night as it was near the bus to the airport and inexpensive. There is no staff or service available, but that is apparently the trend in budget accommodations. The lawn was wildly overgrown. It was embarrassing when the tour picked me up. I was pleased when a travel glitch required an extra night stay that they were able to accommodate me, but the basement room available had little light and poor ventilation. It is near the terminal, and it is inexpensive, but you will not want to spend any time in your room.

Sheets were questionably clean. Smelled pretty bad. I understand you have sulfur in the hot water but it smelled like someone died with hard boiled eggs stuffed in them and left to rot. In the city whenever I used the hot water it smelt significantly better. Dust and debris left on the floors, sink, and cabinet of my room. Bathrooms quite dirty, the community kitchen was missing a lot of things to cook with and everything was dirty. Someone stole my alcohol I left in the fridge. The shower kind of worked was still quite dirty and had black mold growing. The last two nights I was there some noise would go off and wake up the whole building every few hours. I would hope no one has to suffer that way I did.

BEST location for travel connections

We used this guesthouse on 3 occasions when self-touring Iceland for 30 days between mid-June through mid-July, 2021 and were absolutely delighted by our choice to stay here. This hotel is literally across the street from the BSI bus depot where the Flybus from Keflavik drops you off! It is also the stop for the Hop On Hof Off bus, and the central location for the entire bus system within the city and the island country. There is also a gas station with food supplies and 2 quick take-out restaurants (Subway and Serrano) between this bus station and the hotel.
We contacted our host, who met us at the hotel, and helped us to check in early. Great service!
We typically book our stays through hotels.com and have NEVER had a bad experience. We also book the cheapest place we can find which is centrally located. Hence, the Travel Inn Guesthouse was a screaming deal. To get to the central area and the front of the Hallgrímskirkja is a simple walk up the hill behind the hotel. If you go out the front door and turn right then continue straight past the roundabout, you will get to the city pond and the governmental buildings including the National Museum of Iceland and the Settlement Exhibition in about a kilometer or so.
We stayed in Room #9 right across from a bathroom/shower on the 2nd floor. Kitchen was small and I did not see a central living room. However, since we only basically sleep there, it was not a problem for us. Our room had it's own sink and was standard size.

I liked that it was close to the bus terminal and walking distance from the city. I did not like that outside of the property looked liked an abandoned building. There is no one there to let you in when you arrived. There is a number on the door to call but we did not have service, so luckily another visitor sitting outside made the call for us. Check out is at 10:00 sharp and no convenience is provided to store luggage.

The Guess house is 5 minutes away for the bus terminal and 2 minutes away form a nice petrol/shop where we usually have breakfast there; best hot dogs in town!!! Very close to bus stops of you need to be pick up from there and 10 maximum walking to main shops, streets and river. I will stay there again. Down side is they don’t have WhatsApp to contact them when you arrive so you must call them to do your check in. Overall great place to stay.

We arrived at 6 am and made reservations for the night prior to arrival so that we could have somewhere to go first thing in the morning. After making arrangements with the owner to be let in, I called the phone number provided and was met by a very grumpy unhelpful man. He didn’t care about what instructions I had been given. When he inally met us at the guesthouse to let us in, he repeated his angry rant. Customer service was awful but room was clean, showers were hot and guesthouse was close to the main bus terminal and town.

We landed in the 6 am hour and had therefore made reservations for the night before we landed so we’d have someone to go first thing in the morning. I had made arrangements ahead of time with the owner, who apparently failed to communicate those instructions with his staff. When I called the phone number provided per the instructions I received, I was met with a very angry and unhelpful employee. When that employee finally arrived at the guesthouse to let us in, he was grumpy and unpleasant, and made it known. Room was clean and shower was hot, but my initial interaction was a definite turnoff.

Surroundings dirty, overgrown and unlit. The steps were in need of repair and the back steps through which we were to enter had neither bannister nor railing. The owner was rude ( I have to work, I don’t have time to talk to you..I was told. Bathroom minuscule, stale smelling, in fact I was afraid to shower given the appearance of the room. If we had not prepaid, we would have left. The blackout blinds were really faded and the pillows were a disaster. Most of the day/ night there was no one to answer questions or address concerns. The owner/boss??? was not at all helpful. His clerical help seemed afraid of him but she did try to be helpful.
Nearness to the bus station did not in anyway compensate for the shoddy service and delapidated surroundings in and outside of ‘guest house’. It was like slumming at a very high price.

It was a very very basic place. Even though we paid big money we had a dirty cover, furniture that looked like it came from the garbage, and a broken window, etc. Plus what was frustrating was how you have to call the number in back of the house and keep waiting for someone to let you in and give you a key. This was a total waste.

This is not a hotel but a dorm room . The old man was very rude and didn’t want to help with anything . I spent 20 mins outside in the rain waiting for someone to come . I didn’t have an iceland phone to call someone to come open it he door . I wouldn’t recommend for US people . Better off at hostel than this dump .

Basic accommodation- warm and dry but very basic

This is a guest house- room and bath only. Location walkable to downtown and other sites. No staff on site but safe and secure. No cooking or like facilities on site. We had difficulty contacting them when we arrived to gain access but this was more due to our in familiarity with the European phone service......you must dial 00 or a + in front of the 10 digit number. Once connected.we were met by Paul who was friendly and courteous. The main floor has been recently renovated but the upstairs rooms have not yet been upgraded. The facility includes rooms with bathroom as well as a room with sink and a shared WC but no shower.

I stayed in the twin bed room which is listed as having a private bath but it only has its own sick, the shower and toilet are shared. No storage, no common kitchen. You can pay just a bit more elsewhere to get those amenities.

Check in time is at 2 pm. If staff is there prior to that and if rooms are available(the keys are on door) they will not allow you to check in early. We had a long flight landed and they forced us to wait till 2pm even though there were available rooms. The owner has no sense of customer service what's so ever. During our stay there, there were other guest arguing with the male owner for various reasons.
At check out, they will knock on your door at 9:55am advising you check out time is at 10 am.
We stayed here for 5 nights, sheets, towels, and trash will not be changed or thrown away. Just FYI.

Good location, but really hard to find!

The location is good, but it is terribly inconvenient that the front door is looked, and you have to call someone to come and open it for you. Plus, it is really hard to find, even though it is close to the bus station. It is hidden rather deep inside, behind trees, so it is hard to see the name of the hotel, and at night-- it is just impossible. I came in at night, and it took me a long time to find it! I was already frustrated and tired, when I found that I had to make a call to get the door open. I actually had an internationally working phone, so I called-- the number did not work! I walked back to the bus station and asked them to dial it-- it did not work! Someone finally answered only after several attempts. I felt very uncomfortable through the whole transaction, exhausted, and frustrated. It did not help that it was dark outside, and that the person who finally opened the front door for me was a male. I just did not feel quite safe through the whole thing.

Travel Inn Guest House was clean. Well located just opposite the BSI bus terminal. A short walk 10-15 minutes in to town. Staff were freindly as is most everyone in Iceland. Room was clean only gripe was the pillow was not great and only 1 pillow as well. But fantastic as a base and a place to lay your head.

Great location. Lousy comfort.

You get what you pay for couldn't be truer than here. If the management would invest in some pillows and sheets that weren't threadbare and flat, that would be nice. Also, some decent towels. I didn't mind sharing the bath, there is plenty of hot water and the cleaning woman kept the bathroom very nice. But don't expect to be welcomed or even greeted with a smile by anyone but her. The wi-fi was not consistent. The location to BSI is the best part.

Hotel was being renovated when we visited so was a bit of a mess downstairs but rooms were warm, clean and fairly comfortable. Shared bathroom is fine. No food or drink preparation facilities were available when we were there. Management arrived quickly on calling them on arrival. Very close to main bus station - useful for early travel to/from Keflavik airport. Also close to Reykjavik city airport so occasionally noisy but not a significant problem. Short (5-10 min) walk to city centre but out of the Reykjavik bustle. Overall, good value place.

Disappointing experience and poor standards

Little more than a hostel with incredibly basic rooms. The staff are non-existent and resort to notes that reprimand and outline potential penalties, e.g. 50 euros for a stolen towel or a lost key. The rooms are not well kept and are not turned over until you leave. Local to the domestic airport which is noisy at times and some rooms have very little windows which double up as emergency exits. Lack of maintenance and use of extension cables make it a potential hazard but if you want cheap and cheerful but without the cheerful this is right down your alley.

Took my deposit, didn't honor the booking

Unbelievably bad. I made my reservation in June, the 100% deposit was charged two days later, and we arrived (and waited 20 minutes) for the receptionist to show up. They claimed that the credit card had NOT gone through after three days and they cancelled the reservation. The night manager/owner called me a liar, told the receptionist to stop trying to help us and repeatedly said that he wanted us to leave and stop wasting his time and money. we were stranded and tired and couldn't contact Expedia on our own -- and had to return to our tour group hotel, where the rack-rate was over $400. in over 20 years of booking on Expedia I never had such an experience. After finally contacting Expedia, they confirmed the credit card deposit and coordinated the refund of that -- but, of course, the guest house manager shouldn't have been such a bully to two girls in a foreign country.

We were lucky that there was someone on reception when we arrived - other guests were not so lucky. Shared bathroom not very clean - worn out bathmat and grubby bath and shower curtains. Curtain rail in our room so sticky that the curtains wouldn't close and only one flimsy pillow each and sheets with holes in. On the plus side - a short pleasant walk into the centre of town and it was quite cheap and it did have free wifi.

Not worth the money

A large number of odd rules greet you when you eventually gain entry to this place (note - you can only check in at specific times you cant even enter the buildinh) such as \"you can't store your luggage here, take it to the bus station and put it in left luggage\".
That gives you an idea of the kind of place this is.
Room was clean but sink too tiny to even brush your teeth at.
There are many places to stay in Reykjavik. Stay in one of them and not here.

great value and location!

Very conveniently located across the street from the BSI bus terminal, as well as the adjacent convenience store with Subway in it. Very affordable, which is possible because there is no 24h front desk. Instead, you call a # on the back door and the host comes by in ~15min to let you in and give you your key (be sure your cell phone is charged and supports international roaming).

Dont book!!!!!

Terrible mattress and pillow, staff is rude (and when I dare to say they yelled at me if I was not happy to not book their hotel- Amazing customer service indeed!), bathroom was not really clean. No storage for bags (better read it before you are booking it as you got yelled at by staff if you don't know before and dare to ask) - you can go next door to the BSI Bus terminal if you are lucky enough you might still find one storage available... the only great thing is the location! As there is tons of guesthouses and hotels around, look for another guesthouse to save you some unpleasant experience!

Help from business manager to maid passing tru caretaker were uniformly unhelpful, absentminded and/or rude,

For those on a budget...

This is a very basic accommodation for travelers on a budget. I had a room with a shared bathroom which was OK although the hand-held shower was pretty annoying. Sound travelled easily through the walls. I stayed 5 nights and most of the time it was quiet except for one night when the loud conversation went on until the wee hours. The manager is not on the premises so it's difficult to get someone to talk to the offending parties.

Quick stopover in Reykjavik

We stayed here one night. The hotel is conveniently located across the street from the BSI bus terminal (you can book/catch a bus to the airport from that terminal), and a 5-10 minute walk to the touristy part of Reykjavik. The hotel had a shared bathroom for about 3 different rooms that were on our floor. They had free wifi.

Nice hotel close to the shopping centre

I am completely satisfied with price-quality ratio of the hotel, and particularly satisfied with the kitchenette. The room is cosy, spacious and tidy.

Good stopover

place was good as an overnight before we headed out around Iceland. the guy was very friendly and helpful. breakfast provided had all the basics but really good, WiFi was great. the hotel was just a little outdated but if staying one night seemed fine for us as we had the twin room with shared bathroom, i believe there are nicer rooms if you were staying longer.

Excellent location, friendly staff, clean rooms

The pictures don't the justice to the rooms, the place is actually a lot nicer than in the photos.

The rooms are very basic but they are clean and modern and the staff is very friendly and available for help (you might have to give them a call because there is no 24-hour front desk here). If you are not after a five-star hotel experience, just a safe and clean place to stay in a great location at the fraction of the standard hotel rates, this is a perfect solution.

Great Location

The best things about this hotel is its location, central Reykjavik. Main bus station for Reykjavik Excursions tours is right in front of the hotel. So for me its was great because I booked Golden tour, Norhtern light experience and blue lagoon with them. Other then location its bugdet hotel so for the price is it was ok and basic.

The hotel isn't the most modern but it's warm, comfortable and clean. Quick call on arrival and someone was there to check us in. Easy walking distance to the centre.

Budget friendly hostel

You get what you pay for. I had no problems with the place. It was cheap, so don't expect a luxury hotel. It was a house turned into budget friendly hostel. We weren't there that much so we had no problems!

(Solo, female traveler) nice, clean-place, comfortable bed, they provided free breakfast (good breakfast).free wifi, very close (3 minute walk to BSI) walking distance to Reykjavik city center (about 8 to 10 minute walk) I would definitely recommend it and will stay here again.

Pretty much bed only kind of place.

I just came home a few days ago after my second time in Iceland. I've stayed in various guest houses around the island & this one, I've felt most uncomfortable in & it was very basic & least welcoming.

No facilities provided to make yourself a drink & none are on offer free or paid for either except at a very basic breakfast. The tea was like water and when I asked if they could put another teabag in the pot one guy was quite obliging but Then I was told by another \"that's how the tea was meant to be!\" lol, I th ink she forgot I was British!!! She provided it but was almost begrudgingly.

The main Guy there seemed a complete scatter brain. I had read in a review before gong that he was drunk (guessing it was him) & it was like fawlty towers... Within 5 minutes of arriving I was half grinning at half worried about remembering those comments as I could see exactly what they meant!

I arrived with my daughter but they were expecting me to be alone. Basil was quite accommodating about it though and was eager to make little'un welcome. The room seemed clean but I saw what the bedding looked like inside the pillowcases & duvet cover when he made the other bed up and that was a traumatic experience.

Its also a hard walk for little ones to town but the BSI bus terminal is only across the road. Great if you are using the buses. It was an ok stay but I wouldn't go there again.

Good location in fine city

We kept ourselves happily busy out of the hotel, seeing and enjoying Reykjavik. The Golden Circle tour was a must, and the hop on, hop off tour of Reykjavik simplified our local sight-seeing and improved our dining and shopping. The hotel was well located for our needs, but that was its main attraction. I wish I had read other people's reviews before booking this one.

The only good thing I could say about this hotel is its location, across from the BSI bus terminal and an easy walk to the old city. The room was not what we had booked--double bed--but had two small twin beds, one of which creaked so much we had to change beds in the middle of the night. The manager was unprofessional, smelling of liquor at one point; the bathroom was dirty when we arrived and was not cleaned once during our five-day stay; the breakfast was of poor quality; bedding and towels were clean but of basic quality. The only thing provided in the bathroom was toilet tissue; we left toiletries for the next guests.

Economy hotel

Nothing fancy here. Not fully blackout curtains. Bare bones, but we knew that and stayed for the location and price. We could walk to downtown easily. Einar was a very fun guy. I enjoyed him. The breakfast was decent, but not as good as some of the other hotels on our trip.

Old and Dirty Guesthouse

I had stayed on this guesthouse for 3 nights but the feeling was not good at all. First, it had bad smell when I use the tap water inside my room. Second, the show room is not clean and I need to have a quick shower to avoid the bad smell came from the sink. Also the old man staff shouted to my friend when she asked for hot water. The only one reason I choose this guesthouse because it is walkable to BSI station.
