Enjoyed my stay here. The hosts are very welcoming & helpful. Checkin is clear and also has Igdlo sign on building for easy find. Location is close to basically everything, and Bus 55, which saves over $25 round trip to KEF airport. The room and shared bathroom were always clean also. The rooms are small and the lighting not so bright, but overall it was fine, and a very good value for an expensive place like Iceland.

The accomodations here were good. No better, no worse. The location is a 15 min walk to the action in town. The room was clean but pretty rundown. The fitted sheets on the bed were rioped around the elastic and there were some pretty sketchy outlets throughout. It worked for a quick place to crash but I would not go back for anything more than that.

The bed was comfortable and the light in this room good enough to read by. Breakfast was basic. Coffee and tea were good. Fortunately, I had an extra bed to put things on; otherwise, where to put my belongings would have been a challenge. I had to move a small stand so that my phone had a place to sit while being charged at the lone available outlet. No TVs worked. The guesthouse is conveniently located near the airport bus terminal.

My husband and I enjoyed our one-night stay in a unit with a private bathroom and kitchenette. The kitchen area wasn't very well stocked, and the camping stove wasn't the best to use, but it got the job done for a one-night stay. It's a little bit of a walk from the main area with much of the dining, and a short drive to a Bonus grocery store. All in all, it was a decent stay for Iceland.

Check-in was easy enough although I saw that I had a different--and preferred--room assignment. (A second email to me wouldn't open until I arrived.) Map Quest was very wrong on distance from Harpa Concert Hall. The bed was very comfortable. There wasn't enough light to read by, so I went to sleep after the outside light dimmed. There were no directions on how to \"clean the machine\" after only one-third of a cup of coffee brewed, and I couldn't get more.

All kitchen amenities however the shower took some expert navigation. Got easier as I figured out how to make the hot water last without being too cold or hot. All part of the Icelandic experience!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in early Sept, 2025. The host was a sweet teddy bear, the room (economy twin with private bath) was comfortable and clean with a nice kitchen outside the room. We didn't use the kitchen, but it looked fully stocked. It's very near the bus station (17 min walk), with a stop across the street, including HOHO. The only thing I wished was to have restaurants near by. There is a wonderful coffee shop (Brikk) an 8 min walk, but that's it. I'll definitely be staying here again!

Great location !!

I really enjoyed my stay, didn’t like that I had to pay 5 euro for breakfast which was bread and jam or butter. Not eggs , fruits or sausage. Not worth it! But the place was cozy, but it was full and I didn’t have any place to sit in the dining area. Even after people finished eating they just sat there and talked. The staff was really nice and friendly. Location was great!! Very close to the bus terminal and the wharf. 45 mins from the airport.

We booked a three night stay. Our plane was delayed and we arrived at 6 am the next day after no sleep and went to go to bed but they had relet our room so we couldn’t use it and they have refused to give us a refund for the night. We didn’t cancel we had still paid and the room was ours from the day prior. This can’t be fair.

The property is well located. The entrance was not well kept and inconvenient for luggage carrying. There no staff to help. The staff was present only when we arrived and we never saw them again. The furniture was deceiving, since the rooms were furnished with two smaller than twin beds and a bunkbed for two. The bathroom was shared what was an inconvenience. The breakfast was not included as advertised, but paid and not available until after 8:00 AM, and we had to leave having anything to eat.

After 2 weeks in Iceland, this was our favorite multi-room stay. Our rook had its own sink, mirror, table, and wall cubbies and a power strip by the bed! Showers were convenient and cabinets in kitchen all labeled.
Staff was very welcoming and kind. They went out of their way helping us figure out a package that we had sent.

Overall - Loved this place and would stay again if we make it back to Iceland!

Great location - close to downtown Reykjavik and lots of restaurants as well as close to grocery stores. We enjoyed the unit we had with the full kitchen and living room. Nice and spacious for our 2 night stay. Loved the cat who visited!! We walked to the Pond and other areas. Parking was on the street in front. They need to make where the check in area is more visible. Some people thought our apartment was check in! Great staff as we had a burnt out bulb - very quick in responding. Easy check in. Would highly recommend this place!!

Positives: Arrived early and allowed access to room immediately. One pillow, one blanket provided, one bath and hand towel.
Kitchen was available and functional.
Negatives: arrived to main property and was sent to another property around the corner. Limited amenities, no tea or coffee as expected. Breakfast was offered only in the main building and was not given information on how to access it. Shower and toilet were leaking all over the floor and the bathroom was not clean. Local water was sulfuric and not drinkable.

We paid $160 with private bathroom, which is not cheap, the interior is clean and decent but lacking of amenities such as no hanger, closet or space for you to put out luggages. No shampoo, shower gel. It earned extra star for commute laundry and close to downtown. Exterior is looking beat up real bad, and Parking is on the street not on site which security is concerned. If you don’t mind these condition for a convenient location close to town, but we wouldn’t want to stay her again. There are some cheaper rooms with share bathroom which more like hostel than hotel.

Because we arrived late, had excursions and departed the last day early, had no interaction with staff. However, the access instructions were clear. Guesthouse is a 10 minute walk to the BSL bus terminal. Single room was clean, small but practical. The bathroom outside needs to updated a bit. Overal, it served my pourposes.

This is the best \"budget\" option by far. Very helpfull, friendly staff, great kitchen to use, quiet and clean rooms, nice garden area and walking distance to downtown/shops/Museums
Coffee and tea is free and for 5 Euro there is a buffet style breakfast, which is great.
Furniture is a bit \"vintage\", but everything is very clean, comfortable and practical.
My go-to-guesthouse whenever I go to Reykjavic.

I should start by mentioning that this was my first experience in a hostel.
The single room I chose was small, but certainly adequate in size for just me. The big issue I had was that the beds were both so uncomfortable that I woke up several times due to pain in my back. Though I accept the fact that it could have more to do with the fact that I am nearly 50, I can also say with certainty that nobody wants to feel springs in their back as they're attempting to sleep.
Overall, the main areas stayed quiet and I was not awoken or bothered by noise from other guests. The bathroom on our floor accommodated six rooms, I believe, but I did not ever find it to be occupied when I needed to make use of it.
I only saw one staff person one time during my stay, and he was quite nice.
If I were to base the likelihood of staying at a hostel again on this experience, it would definitely be a no for me.

A basic but comfortable place to stay, offering some great bonuses like breakfast for a small extra charge, free tea and expresso type coffee all day, a kitchen area, and keypad controlled entry so no keys to loose. The toilet and showers are shared by I never had to wait to use them. Location is very convenient for both bus stations, and still only 10-15 minutes walk from the centre. Rooms are supplied with tv, duvet, blanket, pillow, sink and towels.

It was what was expected of a hostel type room. The property was a bit outdated and rooms were a bit stuffy temperature wise, but staff did try to make our stay comfortable. Washer and dryer machines were iffy, but the detergent was included at least. We came during the winter, during their off peak season, and they were in the middle of renovations, so I cant fault them for that. Overall it met our needs.

Wonderful stay, we utilized the shared kitchen and laundry room areas, they were clean and well kept. We had an emergency for which we had to contact the guesthouse manager, Ingi, at 12AM, and he picked up and helped us.

The exterior of the property is a bit run down, but the inside was fine.

Since we did late check-in, our rooms pincode was left on a card on the door frame as were other rooms', so anyone inside could just note the access codes and access these rooms. Kinda scary.

Good for the price, staff very welcoming and helpful, its a bit run down but was clean and comfortable. My only issue was when i arrived to my studio flat all of the dishes, cutlery, pan etc hadnt been washed properly by the previous guest, so i had to wash everything before I could use it.
But apart from that i really enjoyed my stay and would definitely return in the future.

The property is a little rundown so doesn’t make the best first impression on arrival. It is a hostel. Our room could have used more lighting (just had one bulb in the center of a large room), especially over or near the sink. However, it was clean, provided good kitchen and dining area, had an excellent 5 euro breakfast and the owner was very attentive to our need for late check-in and most helpful with advice. It was also lovely meeting up with other travellers. For Iceland, this was great value for accommodation.

Great stat for a week here. Lovely staff and a quick 10-12 min walk to the shops. Is close by one of the main roads out of Helsinki for the usual tourist hotspots. The two brothers who manage the guest house were very helpful for all sorts of things. Would def recommend and stay again.

Decent place for a nights stay. Room was spacious for a solo traveler, like I was. The shower room wasn't the cleanest but also not disgusting. Some metal road fell off from the top of the shower (I think it's where you hang clothes/towel to dry) and smacked me right on top of the head. Decent stay for a night. If I couldn't find another place then I would stay here again.

I chose the guesthouse as a budget option. The welcome from the owner and staff was very friendly, the owner speaks fluent English and is extremely hospitable. It was great having such a well equipped kitchen and dining area, and it really made a difference to be able to have my breakfasts and occasional supper from my own groceries as well as being convenient when I got back late from an all-day bus tour. The common areas and toilets are kept clean. The guesthouse is an easy 10 minute walk with a suitcase from the main BSI bus terminal. To walk up to the big church Hallgrímskirkja is about 10 minutes, and the nearest supermarket that I found is just in front of the church on the shopping street. From there it is an easy 10 minute walk into the centre. Despite what it said on Expedia, there is no TV in the room. There is a TV in the dining room but I didn't use it. I was satisfied with my stay here - my only criticism would be that the towels and bedlinens are extremely tired, actually threadbare, and the pillow was also very lumpy and ancient so you might want to bring your own pillow.

I had an excellent experience staying here. I came at an odd hour and they were easy to reach and allowed me to leave all of my luggage on the premises while I went out for the day. My room was comfortable and clean; what you’d expect from this price point. The shared bathroom and kitchen area were fine though other guests were sometimes untidy. I ate breakfast the first morning and then went up for a morning cup of tea the second day so I could be around lots of people. They were very kind and helpful. I’m moving to the area for a while and they offered advice and some assistance even after I would leave! I’d recommend this place again and might have my family stay here in the future.

I had the room closest to the front door, on the street side. It is a busy street, so there was a constant noise of traffic. Also, the doors of the rooms close with a loud bang.

The only shared bathroom on my floor was constantly locked, with no noise coming from inside, so I'm assuming it was out of commission. The bathroom I tried in de basement was old and beaten and in need of fixing up. The knob for selecting temperature was stuck on hot and the only space for placing clothes was a questionable set of unfinished wooden shelving.

The mattresses were not the best, the linnens were tattered and stained and the pillow provided little support and was extremely lumpy.

During my stay, I had no interaction with any staff (never encountered anyone), so can't speak to their level of service. Also did not see the kitchen, so no information on that either.

The rooms require a passcode and without providing any details here, I would consider the method of distribution of those codes insecure. I would suggest changing that to a more personal approach.

No sleep, no shower, sandpaper sheets.

Sheets were like sandpaper, bathroom was flooded and everything smelled of rancid mold. Pictures shown online do not represent every room in this dump. I had room 501 and it took me an hour to find it after instructions at the address let me into a house that did not have my room. The basement room in an old rundown house down another street and around the block was what they call the “annex”
I did not use the shower because it flooded into the whole room and the floor was a swamp. Did not sleep because it was on a busy street with buses and cars zooming by at all hours. I felt like I was sleeping g in the street.

Overall a good stay

There was some confusion at first because the room booked is located in a different building and the alternative room assigned has been occupied by another group. The instruction email somehow has gone to an email address that is different from the email used to book the stay. Once all these confusions were sorted out, it was all good. The room is clean and the common area has cooking area that suits the need well Thanks to the owner for all the help in the last night in Iceland.

Despite small common areas, the guesthouse is cozy and you can socialize with other travellers during breakfast or snack time. It helps that rooms have sinks, otherwise the wait for shared bathrooms could be a bit long. It's not the most centrally located, but still walking distance to a couple of museums and a swimming pool.

I didn’t realize that this property is a self check-in/out. Rooms were cozy, but could use an extra pillow. It’s quiet. It’s a shared bathroom with the same floor, which is okay. I did find some bugs under the bed.
