Staff very reactive when I was stuck with the wrong code. Really appreciated. Good facilities, very near the city center. Showers and toilets clean. Nothing to complain about. Towel given for free.

Excellent location – easy to find from the BSI bus terminal (just a short 12-15 minute walk). The facilities are decent and clean for a hostel. What really stood out was the staff’s responsiveness: we had a few questions before arrival and they replied to emails extremely quickly. One morning we woke up to find the power had tripped – the emergency number on the whiteboard worked perfectly, and the staff member responded politely and promptly to help us. This level of support is incredibly valuable when traveling. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a reliable and convenient base in Reykjavík!

Hostel is conveniently located. Bathrooms were clean. Will point out that the kitchen was a bit messy and didn't see any staff.

Make sure to bring shampoo. That is not provided. Overall would recommend

Hostel B47 was a great place to stay. It was easy walking distance to the Main Street and the kitchen facilities are fantastic! We got woken up each night by other residents who forgot the code and got locked out but this isn’t the hostel’s fault.

I stayed for 2 nights with tween age kids. The room was clean and it was nice getting a towel. Great to have sink in the room. The kitchen had a fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle. We got the codes for doors to let ourselves in via email. Saw staff cleaning but had no interaction with any staff. The location was walkable to bus etc. We needed a place to store bags for a few hours on last day. The storage lockers outside were convenient, if expensive for just a few hours. I'm not sure what I would have done if they were all full though.

Overall good but no free luggage storage service

Good location, self check in / check out system is good but there’s not luggage room for the guests to leave their luggage before check in time. I have to pay the luggage locker (just outside the hostel) instead, wasn’t happy about it.

Booked a room in a dorm just to find out that there was a glitch in the system and my bunk bed was taken. Not a great experience especially after a long flight and arriving past midnight. So no, I would not recommend this place.

I stayed in one bedroom not shared. Its clean, quiet and I like that I can lock the door when I use the bathroom. Its 3 blocks away from the church and walkable to Reykjavik downtown. Also, another reason i stayed in this hostel is that they have free parking. I would definitely stay again if given a chance i come back to Reykjavik area. No reception staff. Three people approached me needing help to find their rooms. They had no emails after 1500 with the necessary info needed with room number and codes. Poor mattresses. Anytime anyone moved in bed the springs squeezed. I stayed in room 100 and around 0030 you could hear loud pounding upstairs and constant moving of what sounded like heavy chairs/furniture. The hall smells of faint sewer all the tome. Price was ok but won’t be back. Only convenience is great location.

Great place to stay at downtown Reykjavik, very convenient to walk around city. free parking , easy to find food , close to church. clean hotel, with great interior and picture. clean bath, towel, comfort bed & pillow .
I cant give 5star for service, because no staff at property. They give me code for entry before check in time 3pm. VERY RECOMENDED.

Improve the service !

Everything was fine until the housekeeper (a young guy) started knocking in the morning. Check out at 11 o'clock, he started knocking and immediately opened the door at 9 o'clock in the morning - it's terrible! When I opened it, he couldn't really explain what he needed from me so early.

Be aware that there is no reception. You need to receive a sms for your room number and code that i didn't received, so you have to writd them an email. You are by yourself. No option for late checkout, they don't allow. You can leave your luggage in lockers for $20 or more depending of the size.

There were no lockers in or around the rooms, no staff, two toilets and one shower for the whole floor. The bathrooms had toilet paper all over the floor. The kitchen sink would only do super hot water, that smelled like the lagoon. The vending machine did not have normal water. No staff visible.

I don't recommend this hostel because the room had not prepared at 3pm. After checking in, bed making staff came into my room and start bed making with laughing loudly. They did not explain the reason because they don't speak english. In several minutes later, another cleaning staff came in and start cleaning. That experience was very unpleasant.

The property was very close to the downtown areas and the church nearby, bubt that was it.
The hostel is basic barebones, just some bunk beds and shared bathrooms.
Bathrooms were not clean and kitchen was ok.
So if you need a place to stay and only need to crash for a few hours, this place is perfect.

This is a very clean hostel (including the shared bathroom!) in a convenient location in Reykjavik. We are a family ages 55, 54, 18, 17, and we would definitely stay again—even we parents would stay here if traveling on our own. We were very pleased and the savings allowed us a spa adventure!

I like the diming option where you can cook your food, condiments provided, pots, pans, dishes are available for you to use. There are left food from prwvious guests that you can take if you want. The wifi connection though isnt the best in our room. The router isn't reachable enough on the farthest area. We usually stays in the kitchen or the reception area so we can get a wifi. The resr is ok. Rooms fine, few shower rooms and bathroom outside oir room. There's sink inside the room at least for you to use to brush uour teeth.

I’ve stayed at both hostels in this property. I booked a private room this stay. The beds were very comfortable. Staff was friendly. There was a light out in one of the bathrooms but there was no wait time for showers. The kitchen is located at the back of the hostel so that was a little difficult to find. I like the location as everything is walkable. I will stay here again 😊

Okay for one night

The decor is garish and the rooms have the same vibe as a hospital room. We stayed in a twin room with shared bathroom. It was okay because we only arrived around 10pm and left at 8:30am, and we went out for over an hour looking for the northern lights.
I would not stay any longer to be honest.

The sheets used on the bed and pillow are a harsh texture which is a bit uncomfortable. There was a strange graffiti style wall art of naked women on the wall. There were two toilet cubicles in the shared bathroom, plus a toilet/shower combo. Think one toilet was out of service. Toilets were relatively clean. Definitely bring flip flops/sliders/etc if you’re staying here.

There is a small free car park, which is something we were looking for in a booking. You are sent an access code about an hour before check-in opens. You use one code to enter the hostel from outside and one to enter your room. I did not see a single staff member anywhere.

Hostel B47 is ideally positioned centrally near to the main shopping area and not far from bus station. Also it is only a five minute walk from the Halgrims church which has a very high tower. Easy to find your way back to the Hostel as the tower makes a good marker.

I stayed in a shared female dorm, I felt very safe and the other occupants were very quiet and considerate. The room could have been cleaner but it wasn't too bad. The shared bathroom was clean. Buying food out in Reykjavík is very expensive so having the communal kitchen and dining area was very handy. I'd stay here again, it's good value and very close to the centre of town. Thank you 😊

All of the staff were very kind and friendly and super helpful whenever I had questions about anything. The shared bunk room I was in filled up by the third night but everyone was as quiet and respectful as you could reasonably expect. The location is great and very convenient for walking or taking a scooter anywhere downtown, and the free parking in back is crucial. I hope to return!

Our first impression of this hostel wasn't good due to two reasons: firstly, we made our booking via Hotels.com and paid the full price before our visit. However, during our check-in, their staff said they hadn't received our payment and refused to let us check in unless we paid again. Obviously, something went wrong, but they didn't want to resolve the issue by listening to our situation. They frankly said 'they don't want to listen,' and their attitude was clearly impatient. Nevertheless, one of their members kindly checked our bank transaction (at least that made us feel they were resolving the issue). But in the end, we had to pay them twice at the hostel and spent two hours on the phone with Hotels.com customer service to request a refund.

Secondly, we booked a room with a private bathroom. However, the condition and cleanliness of the private bathroom gave us a negative impression as there were male and hair residue. We didn't raise it with the staff due to our check-in issue, and we used the shared bathrooms instead. It is also worth mentioning that the cleanliness of the shared bathrooms was of a high standard, and they did apologise after we contacted Hotels.com.

It was my first stay at a hostel and I was nervous as I was staying in a co-ed room as a solo female traveller, but I felt safe the whole time. The bed was relatively comfortable and clean, and there is easy access to restrooms/showers. Some minor things were out of order like the hair dryer, but nothing concerning or inconvenient. The staff/owners were super friendly and helpful, and the area was perfectly convenient- if you plan on doing excursions with shuttle pick-up, the nearest bus stop to the hostel is only a 3 minute walk away (Bus Stop 8). As a bonus, it's next to Hallgrímskirkja as well as lots of dining/shopping options. I only paid about 112 pounds for 4 nights. Overall great value, I'd definitely stay again!

4 bunk beds, 8 female room. NO storage in the room. Each bunk bed had on drawer that could Not be locked. Housekeeping opens 5 to 6 rooms or more at a time for AM housekeeping then leave the area for 15 plus minutes at a time. Everybody's items are unsecured. Room was extremely HOT. Two of the beds were directly next to the heaters, surprised the person sleeping there did not get burned! Lack of comfortable community area. Dining area with couch at the dining table. Limited access to electrical outlets. They just threw 4 bunk beds in a room and called it good. Each bed needs access to USB ports, individual lights. Only one light in the room...either it is on in everybody's face or off and you can not see anything. Needs to be modernized. Due to heat, no way to unpack or secure belonging in room and then lack of bed related lighting, usb ports, plug ins I would not return.

Price for the space and area were pretty good. The manager (I think?) was lovely and accommodating. She even exchanged my currency multiple times! They offer a little restaurant with options for purchase and alcohol! Kitchen was clean and offered a fridge and hot plates to use. Only complaint is the lack of bathroom IN the shared rooms. Makes it really annoying when people are walking in and out of the rooms (and slamming doors) in the middle of the night. That's more the guests than the hostel I suppose.

A situation occurred while staying there and immediately the receptionist and the 2 hostel owners took us seriously and fixed the problem. Not only were they extremely understand. They were also very kind and accommodating. The quality price ratio is excellent and I 100% recommend this place. I'll be back for sure.

The check-in process was confusing but I love the room. The sink was a bit tiny but workable. The shared bathroom gets flooded easily but overall it is a clean place. Place it's an easy walk to town.

This is a traditional European hostel with a range of different rooms. Some larger dorm style ones but most people seemed to stay in single or twin rooms with shared bathrooms.
