We stayed 3 nights from 9 July yo 11 July. The checkin was a nightmare. Had to lug the suitcases from door to door in the rain to find the right hotel door. There was no receptionist . Had to press doorbell several times before we got our room from a remote service. The room is extremely basic. No coffee or tea. There was a kettle. The bathroon fittings and power outlets are so amateurish like they they were done by a handyman. The common space downstairs was suposed to be use by guests but instead was converted to a coffee shop.
The only thing good was the location close to the bus stop for the explorer bus.
No I would not recommend this hotel because the standard of service and amenities is not of a capital city but of a third world country.

Front desk doesn’t really have a person there all the time, particularly during the day. You have to be buzzed in and call them if you have an issue. The building is in need of updating. The location is excellent. Very walkable to all main attractions and if you have a car, there is a parking garage next door. It was simple and basic, but if I ever came back to Reykjavik, I don’t think I’d stay here again.

We needed a place to sleep for one night that was a reasonable price in a good location and this fit the bill nicely. We saw no staff during our visit but didn't need any. You ring a bell to get inside and keys are in your room. There is luggage storage in an unloced room before and after your stay, but you do need to be a registered guest to get buzzed in. Room was clean, toilet paper was thick, shower was fine though the only toiletries offered were packets of combo body wash/shampoo. Room is not 100% dark when it is light outside and road noise was a little disruptive but not too bad. All in all this hotel was exactly what we needed between our cruise and our flight the following day. Would stay here again.

We stayed one night at this hotel. The room was very clean, and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was small, but clean. However, it did lack a few hooks for the towels and a shelf for our toothbrushes. The hotel was on a rather busy corner, and it was ten days before the summer solstice. People were in the street until late into the night, and our room faced the street and therefore was rather noisy. I have to commend the staff for their great communication. Obviously, this was not the Ritz, but it was certainly worth every penny we spent.

I picked this hotel because it wasn’t a good location and the cheapest I could find that wasn’t a hostile. Walking distance to all the sites a block from the grocery store a block from the food court a block from the airport bus.

The hotel is very small and old. There was mold in my shower and they told me that it hadn’t been renovated, but really I feel that a good cleaning would have been sufficient. I saw a spider in my room which didn’t bother me too much the room is on the small side, but it was just one person. It might’ve been a bit tight for two people.

Hótel.com charge me for the room and the hotel charge me for the room. I asked the hotel for a refund. They said they would do it, but they never did so I had to dispute the duplicate charge with my credit card.

Absolutely disappointing!
Basic Basic Basic
Especially for the price.
The mattresses are so old they actually are springs.
Pillow was practically the smallest I've ever seen. The bathroom did not have a toilet tissue dispenser just a roll of toilet paper on a shelf. Housekeeping took our towels in the morning and never returned them, luckily enough the gentleman who checked us in, who was absolutely wonderful, had to come to the property and get us towels. Because the front desk is NOT MANNED. If it wasn't for the easy check in I would have given this property a one star.

Super convenient to Bonus grocery, bars, rests, and sites. Pickup bus #9 right outside the door. Very clean. Hot kettle in room for tea or whatnot...bring ur own. Very clean prefer if they provide wash clothes but we made due with the towels. We had room for all our bags prior to board cruise...stayed 2 nights. They accommodated early checkin but only available when there is space...we were lucky. Bag storage available.

One thing that could be better was that we didn't know or see the signage for the door/doorbell that let us checkin. Maybe a note with our booking resv. Or better sign?

The hotel advertised 24-hour reception, but upon arrival we found the exterior door ajar, an alarm sounding, and no one at the front desk. We waited ten minutes before leaving and returning later. We were never informed about the exterior check-in button until the day before departure. When we returned, a staff member kindly accommodated an early check-in, which we appreciated.
Room 305 was extremely overheated upon entry, and a mildew odor persisted for two days. We purchased a deodorizer to manage it. The odor resolved after the bedding was changed on day three. The floor under the beds was visibly dirty with debris from prior guests. The bathroom was pleasant and consistently well-stocked with towels and toiletries. The street view was the best feature of the room, which was noticeably smaller than the photos suggested. The day before departure, an incorrect check-out date in the system locked us out of our room. A staff member arrived within ten minutes of using the exterior button. The neighborhood felt very safe, with shops and restaurants nearby. Parking in the adjacent underground garage was affordable and convenient.

Overall, the location is a strength, but clearer guest communication and better room preparation would significantly improve the experience.

Went with a group of 7. All our rooms were small and hot. One room had an extremely hard mattress which almost felt like laying on a boxspring and not a mattress. We also had a very, very tiny shower in our bathroom which flooded the floor everytime we used it. The floor in our room was all warped from water as well. Our friend's room across the hall had masking tape on the wall which was painted over as well as mold on the wall that was also painted over. My other friends room had water damage & stains on the wall/ceiling that got worse the next day. The towels were very small and thin. Would not recommend.

The staff was extremely accommodating in that we called to let them know that the roads and weather were going to make us arrive very late, as in roughly 1 AM. They left a key where we could easily access it so that we didn’t have to do a proper check-in, which was very much appreciated. However, the bathroom, smelt strongly of urine. Both of the beds that we had were lumpy and VERY uncomfortable, and both creaked/popped which you could both feel and hear every time you turned over. Additionally, the noise from the street was very loud as there’s only one pane windows, so being so close to the street it was very noisy. Aside from speaking on the phone to make arrangements for getting into our rooms late at night, at no point did we ever see the staff even in the morning when we went to check out. A different guest saw us looking for staff, and told us that she had overheard the staff telling somebody else just to leave the key on the desk, and not worry about checking out.

Adequate for my need

I arrived early (7:25am) off of a cruise, the door was locked, the lobby dark. I rang the buzzer to no avail. A guest came out about 10 minutes later for a smoke, he let me in to wait. Another family arrived and I let them in. The desk person arrived at 9:10, so beware the desk or availability is not 24 hour. Desk people were pleasant and helpful. There is a small space for luggage storage prior to check in. The location is excellant. Bus stop is just across the street with access to hop on hop off as well. Hotel is located on main shopping street and many eateries and activities within walking distance. My roon was double bed with private bath. The room was clean, bath small, fresh linens. The bed, for me, was uncomfortable, very flat and hard. Make sure you have a EU converter for electrical access. No food service. It was adequate for 1 night post cruise and shuttle pick up early to airport.

The staff is very nice and helpful. If the staff is not around it is easy to call them from the front door. The hotel is in a prime location. Issue here is the hotel is dirty. The bathrooms need a real proper cleaning, especially the floor and walls. The windows of the room need a wash and dust needs to be cleaned as well. The hotel is old but if it were cleaned well this could be a very comfortable stay for families, otherwise it is not suitable for families or young couples, just for university kids who care less about hygiene.

As other people commented, it does get loud at night. I am a light sleeper, but we did so much during the day that I was able to sleep without issues. Despite the loud people walking by, shouting and what not.

You get what you pay for. Stayed in the Twin Bed room (308) and it’s a small one-person room with a small bathroom. Sleeping area was fine but found that the shower area could be cleaner. Rest of bathroom was fine though. It’s not like a traditional hotel with someone at the front desk or concierge 24/7 so don’t expect that.

Pros:
- Great location. 10-15 minutes to the church, 15-20 to the bus terminal, located on the main street with restaurants all around.
- Quiet
- Relatively inexpensive

Cons:
- Room is small (twin bed room)

Where's the manager!

There was no manager on site the entire time of our stay. We did tours during the day but were back by 7:00pm and 8:00 pm. We left at 8:00 am and 8:30 am. each morning. Finally on the last night a maid knocked on my door to get payment! I went to the hotel across the street to get help booking an airport bus and ask general questions. The shopkeeper downstairs opened the building to let me in on my arrival. He was not connected with the hotel.
The room was adequate. No towel racks in the bathroom. Throw them on the floor! No room phone. No refrigerator or microwave. Bed and bathroom...the basics.

It was ok. Functioned as expected... we were essentially just looking for a shower and bed to sleep in. The location downtown is excellent!
