Overall, very nice resort. There may have been a possible short staff during my stay making some of my requests a little delayed. However, this doesn’t take away from the kindness of the staff and willingness to help. I enjoyed my stay and would recommend to anybody looking for a getaway from a big city especially the pool access room which was very relaxing.

There was a dried blood stain on the sheets when I got there. I arrived really late so just slept on the other side, then the next day asked them to clean the room. They cleaned it but left the same stained sheets on my bed. The wifi password also didn’t work after trying 5 times and every wifi available. I also asked for early check in and the staff said no, then an hour later after waiting in the lobby for my tour bus, I asked to store my bags and she got me to read the property rules and it said on there you can do early check in for a fee and I asked her about that and she said “oh ya but we have to ask the cleaner”. Not the best experience overall.

Exterior needs more work.. it was creepy... we got the pool access patio... pool had algae and we didn't want to risk swimming.. the little wooden bridge from our patio to pool was broken and unsafe.. the rooms was infested with black ants..bed canopy was dusty and had dead bugs.. room was stuffy and dusty... we booked 4 rooms and they were the same... only thing good about this place is the staff and how accommodating they were to let us switch out one room due to hot water issues and ants..

Wasn’t in the best area of town, down a small soi. Room was ok, nothing special but adequate. Had a nice feel to it with the 4 poster bed. The outside is in need of maintenance. With astro turf ripped, rusty banisters on the stairs and the swimming pools did not seem clean as they had this murky look to the water. Breakfast is ok but very limited. You can order omelette, eggs western breakfast or Thai food. Staff are very nice and accommodating. Asked to change a 500 Baht bill..but they only had 60 Baht on hand…this happened 3 different days! We stayed here 8 nights. All in all this would be a great place if the management actually put some money into maintenance and improvements. The photos on booking website show much better than the property really is.

Keep in mind the resort is slightly outside the main of Nimmanhaemin - Good for a little quiet but a decent walk or short ride to the center of the food and drink scene. Closer to the airport though!

Staff were friendly amd courteous. The property needs significant repairs. Artifical carpet outside everywhere that is torn and lifting causing trip hazards. Our bathroom had black mold. Chickens live next door and start crowing at 4 am. There was a large gap between window panes so bugs are crawling in and all outside noise can be heard. Our room was next to the infinity pool which ran all night. Would not recommend this hotel even if you are on a budget.

Got in one hour early. They charged 300 bhat for one hour early check in. Requested front desk for water, dude asked for 75 bhat for a bottle of water when we had left 3 in the bedroom unopened. This was a beautiful resort but what makes It so exceptional are the kind and caring staff. The location is about 10 mins away from city area or about a 30 min walk which wasn’t bad. It’s safe so you can explore how you like It! I will def stay here again if I come back to Chiang Mai no hesitations.

The room itself was wonderful. King size four-poster canopy bed, wet bathroom with soaker tub and hand shower, rain shower and hand shower, safe, wardrobe, mini fridge. The room is locked by padlock onto a timber bolt.i didn’t feel unsafe but equally, a determined intruder would have no difficulty. The included breakfast comprised a choice of two fried eggs or “boiled rice”, which was a soup with ground pork, rice and coriander/cilantro. Toast, with butter and strawberry jelly, instant tea / coffee / milo with sugar and powdered creamer coffee tasted good for instant coffee).

There are proper cafés nearby, and coffee is served at a bar in the lobby / although I never tried it.

The staff are delightful. The pool is dated but adequate.

Very happy with my stay. If you don’t mind walking 30 mins to malls and Old City, it’s a great option for the price.

The hotel needs some refurbishment, the main pool was closed for cleaning for 3 days,, breakfast has to be ordered as not buffet style,sunbeds are hardwood with no cushions, the bed was comfortable, water pressure a bit slow,20 minutes to run a bath, ,I wouldn't bother with the pool access rooms or breakfast which woyld make it a much cheaper deal,only a 3 star for me

We were very unimpressed by this property. Sadly, it seems like this hotel was once very loved. There’s a lot of detail in the work that went into the original craftsmanship, you can tell. However, it seems like the property nowadays does not receive much upkeep. There’s garbage that randomly sits about the property line, and just a slew of little things that need improving. We would have been prepared for some inconveniences, but some are unacceptable. I was drawn to this booking because it advertised “a spa, poolside bar, pool access room, etc.” Our room was a pool access room, albeit a pool that was “being treated” during the entire length of our stay. At almost $100 a night in Thailand, one has higher expectations. If you book this property, just be cautious that it is more like a $50/night worthy stay IMO. I never normally write reviews, but I want others to know that we regret not booking a nicer hotel closer to the old town area for the same price, if not less expensive.

Booked this hotel on previous reviews, unfortunately this hotel was shocking, unable to use the main pool as it was unbelievably dirty (due to storm) but the small pool was clean? No cushions for the sun beds or day beds, most of the wooden sun beds were broken, 1 parasol which was also broken. Pool towels were available. The rooms were clean, no hot water for a shower, no furniture on balcony, had to ask for some. Screws exposed on balcony rail. Water provided daily, the staff were lovely. The breakfast was ok, would not stay here again. Very disappointed. Needs full refurb.

Nice place. I'd like to see it during the high season. During low season it was empty and left me to think too much and find issues in the room. I spent a lot of time in there, which was mostly positive.
The negatives:

The TV has local channels without ease of access to streaming services.

The minibar in the room was nonexistent with the except of water bottles each day and a refill of the tea bags. Nothing else is in the room.

Ants, but this is Thailand and if you have any trash they'll come find it. I opted out of daily room cleaning and ended up having a small issue with some ants picking at my trash.

The fridge was really noisy and needed maintenance, so I just unplugged it.

Overall:

The property needs people to invest to return to its full potential. It's beautiful. Oh, and don't book the deluxe room. It's view is blocked by the pool and I promise you, if you're not expecting that you'll hate it and give them a 1 star. They don't deserve a 1 star. I believe 4. I would absolutely stay again. I wanna see it in high season.

We had room 115, it was very dark semi basement type room, we had a small backyard but it looked like an unfinished construction site. Definitely not a room to sit outside and enjoy the view. Good deep swimming pool on the property though. The building needs a touch up.

This hotel is a hidden gem with rooms that literally walk out to the huge pool. The outside decks and furniture could use an upgrade but the rooms are beautiful and comfortable. The staff was friendly but they forgot to tell us that we could order food the night before since regular dining was not open. We were there during the low season and practically had the place to ourselves. There is a sweet English style cafe around the corner.

I ended up switching hotels as soon as I saw 2 rooms.
The driver was very kind and their English was extremely limited- which I understand.
I was not told to pay for the driver ahead of time and since my plane came in late, I had no way of exchanging currency. I was also told after calling several times that transportation was unavailable. They do struggle to communicate information.
I walked in and there was a very bad, moldy smell. I still tried to give it a chance. Then I walked in the room, smelled bad, very wet feel and there was a huge dead roach by the door. They offered me another room upstairs and I tried. A lizard crawled from under the bed to go under the closet.

I left immediately and went to another hotel. They did drive me to my new location.

I am working now to get a refund. Very, very kind staff however, the pictures do not give a true description of what you will see in person.

I traveled with my family, the photos shown are a big lie. When I arrived the room looked like a torture room it had no electricity, the railings and the floor are unsafe. The lady at the reception was very gentle, but the place is nasty. They have a cat in the reception that was playing with two rat that came out of the buffet area. I definitely went to another hotel and cancelled. Expedia should not have that property for rent.

We didn’t have breakfast and didn’t tour the local area so can’t comment, but for the pool and the room we would highly recommend this hotel. We were given the room in the basement but could still hear the sound of the airplane. The room was next to the staff cleaning room and next to the swimming pool without any views. The morning staffs on duty was very friendly and could speak good English, whereas the night guard spoke minimal English but was also helpful. There was only 1 ashtray in the entire lobby.
The bath tub didnt look very use-able and tv was spolit. The room was pretty big and decent. There is a laundry shop outside which is good and food along the alley and provision shop.
Overall stay 2.5 star out of 5.

Only writing this so no one has same experience as me. If there is an option to pay a bit more for a “POOL VIEW” take it. I didn’t at the time because i didn’t realize my room would be in a literal basement with zero natural light. The window was facing a tiled wall (side of the pool) and i felt so claustrophobic. It really was horrible and we spent most of the time avoiding the room. The property itself is really nice as is the staff and i would have HAPPILY paid the extra $10 a day to not feel like i was being held underground. Seems unfair to me that this isn’t specified on the listing. If you are like me and need natural light to feel sane, take note.

This was a little hotel. We got the swim up room, so you can just swim up to your patio. Breakfast is made to order. However, food come whenever it is done cooking. Example, you would get your fried rice and then your eggs, to finally salad. Some days, it’s different.

The only thing could make this a better experience is that the bathroom, the sink leaks. So if you use the toilet, you surely will get your feet wet lol.

Let's start from the beginning that this is a complete scam, this is not a four star hotel and not even two. The hotel is located, well, it feels like it's near a favela in Brazil or even worse. To get to any decent place, it's at least a 20 minute walk, a shopping center is about 25 minutes 30 minutes on foot. The hotel grounds are dirty, the girl who sits at the registration board was also in dirty clothes, the pool area, everything around is dirty. The Deluxe room turns out to be the worst rooms in the hotel, they don't even have a hair dryer, although the description says that we are supposed to have a hair dryer. The basement rooms have no windows, the door has a lock that someone can lock you in from the outside. The room is so dirty that my white clean socks turned out to be black, everything is disgusting to touch. There was no water in the room for several days, there was no cleaning, they didn't warn us that we should ask for cleaning every time, they didn't say anything at all upon arrival. A strange thing happened after their cleaning, I found that the room had become even dirtier, for example, before that I looked under the bed and there was nothing there, but after cleaning, when we checked out, I found someone's bra there, but before that I looked under the bed, I don't know how it turned out there was more trash and someone's used condom, I have a feeling that they rented out our room at 03:00 for the day while we were gone. In general, I'm in shock, we barely

Our overall stay was good. I found the pictures on expedia to be misleading. This property has great potential, however, I found it to be a bit in disrepair for the pricing. The pool has broken tiles in the bottom and it wasn't clean until the last day of our trip. The Wifi in our rooms was terrible. We asked several times to be moved or come up with a different solution. They moved the router a bit closer to our rooms and it worked for about a night. After that we all relied on slow data. The grounds around the perimeter of the hotel are dirty and have old broken parts strewn about. We had booked the deluxe pool side room and we are thankful we did. Their standard rooms are located in what would best be described as a basement. your only view is a cement and tile wall from the pool. The staff was very nice and Michael did his best to be accommodating. He even tried to arrange some rental scooters for us so we wouldn't have to walk the 1.5km to the nearest ones. The scooter rental didn't work out because they wanted to bring them late and older ones than we had agreed to for the same price. If you don't plan to hang around the resort and want an affordable motel than this is a good option.

The exterior and common areas outside of the pool are in need of a major facelift. But you also get what you pay for on $45/night. The wifi did not reach the room but this wasn't a big issue as we checked out the very next morning for a different hotel. The rooms are nice with some traditional Thai wood doors.

Mr. Michael went above and beyond to help us get settled in and deal with some minor problems. The rooms were very clean, as was the pool. There are some areas of the resort that are being worked on but the hotel has a unique favor to it, as you will see in the room entry doors, the horse statue in the pool and room decor to name a few
We (3 couples) all enjoyed are stay here and would definitely recommend it to travelers who don't need everything perfect but want clean rooms, a nice big pool and a great staff.

This is a beautiful resort and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The staff are excellent and always kind, polite, and courteous. Michael, especially, always asked us how we were doing greeted us when we were came to the front lobby. The hotel has a rustic, authentic, Lanna style charm and we were in a room with pool access. It was fantastic!
The street had plenty of options to eat traditional Thai food and the walk to the main road, was only 5 minutes. It’s also walking distance to the trendy Nimman area and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Chaya

Our bell boy Michael was an excellent help. We loved how friendly and helpful plus very entertaining he was. The location was hard to find once we were there it was very worthwhile. This location close to the hospital and university .There were temples to see close in walking distance and we would highly recommend it

Totally rip off …Do not get robbed like I did !

Payed for 7 nights and stayed one night. Management refused to reimburse one penny. Room was moldy and in the basement without windows. The bathroom drain was non functional and got flooded when you took a shower. View from website was dramatically different from what I had. Bait and switch strategy….wanted to charge extra to get what you see on website.

MUST STAY!!!! Staff is amazing!

We absolutely loved our 4 night stay at the Chaya! Michael and the staff made this trip spectacular - so great we came back to Chiang Mai for another 2 night stay.
My husband and I are backpacking for our extended honeymoon and came into the trip with not a ton of plans for Chiang Mai. Michael and the staff helped us plan an excellent trip and went above and beyond for accommodating us by arranging motorbikes, bus and taxi services. They even gave us a really nice private room and decorated it special for us. The beds are extremely comfortable and breakfast was delicious. We love you Michael and staff! <3 Would come back to Chiang Mai just to stay here again!!!

Spacious, comfortable rooms. The bathrooms had a shower and separate bath tub, though the positioning of the shower wet too much of the floor. The front desk host was very accommodating, friendly, and helpful. Enjoyed my stay very much.

Most disappointed was the breakfast.
It was below standard for this typy of hotel. Food was cold and was not on food warmer. No selection of bread ni fruits ni cereal. Horrible

Amazing Chaya Resort and Spa

Absolutely stunning hotel. Room is big, bathroom is big. Extremely friendly staff. Michael went out of his way to make us feel at home and checked in on us the whole time. Our room went directly onto a private deck into the pool. Absolutely loved it
