The Royal Nakara was perfect for what we needed. It was large, clean, and the location was great. It was about a 10 minute walk from the hotel to Ao Nang beach which is amazing for the price. I would suggest this hotel to anyone looking to stick around the Ao Nang area.

The property itself has great potential and iI think had seen better times. Our room was really big with a great balcony and it was spotless. However everything is old and it looks like it hasnt had a proper maintance in a while. Location is good, about 10-15 min walk to main atracctions.

The hotel was in much worse condition than the pictures make it out to be. The rooms had multiple things broken, including the refridgerator which had a puddle of water inside and the bathroom sink which literally fell apart multiple times even when they said they'd fix it. The rooms were also very dirty, there was a thick layer of dust/lint on top if the tile, stained towels, old soaps left in the shower, and mold/mildew in all the tiles. They also charge you extra to use a key fob that you need to get into the building. The only good thing was the location, which was a 10min walk to the beach.

Amazing stay, GREAT value for money

My stay at Royal Nakara was great from beginning to end. The staff was really friendly and welcoming! When I asked if special arrangements could be done for a late check-in they replied very quickly via email that it was possible. Once I got there I got upgraded to a room upstairs, that had a great view, because I booked early in advance. My room was cleaned every day and the maids always left nice elephant arrangements with the towels, small touch, but thoughtful. The room was clean and well kept since I arrived.
The breakfast every morning was a bonus! It was really nice with omelettes done as you prefer.
The hotel is located close to 2 beaches and the night market, which makes it a great location, the only down side is the poor lighting on the road that leads to it and the lack of a sidewalk, but all in all really safe and well located.
The pool was nice and I enjoyed it alone, but I have the feeling that if more people got in, it’d get a bit crowded. The water I think was not chlorinated or something was odd about it, but still perfectly good for an afternoon swim, plus the waterfall decoration is really pretty.
I enjoyed my stay here very much. I’d definitely come back and recommend it to anyone who wishes to visit Krabi.

Nice little boutique hotel minutes from the main drag and beach. Breakfast included changed daily so that was nice. Front staff really friendly and always asked if there is anything more they could do. We got upgraded to a bigger room without asking. Had a lovely view of the ocean from our large balcony. Would definitely stay at this hotel again!

Overall. Very satisfied.

Overall I really enjoyed my stay here. I've read lots of reviews about the suites being dated and although the fabric headboard showed some signs of wear the rest of the room was just fine (other then the TV but who cares about that on vacation). If you're looking to hang at the pool all day this isn't the place for you but it's only a block from the beach.

Oh and for the breakfast complainers. Not sure what you expect from fried eggs, omelette etc. but it's basic eggs but satisfying.

3 nights off season. Hotel was quiet but staff were very friendly and helpful. Top floor has nice views across the bay and the room was very spacious, with a large balcony. Area is a bit of a walk from the main beachfront road but there are many good restaurants nearby such as bussaba for thai food and carnivore for western. Wifi is poor though. Good value overall.

The second day there was no water.

The third day there was no electricity.

You'll notice an award from 2013 for the hotel in the lobby. Seems like they haven't kept it up for the past few years.

We were disappointed with our night staff check-in. They seemed more interested in watching TV than checking us in. Limited English. Our room was huge, almost too big. The hotel was a bit shabby and the pictures must have been taken some years ago. Our deck had black mold on it, so we did not go out on it. The breakfast was mediocre. The room had a number of items not working (lights, kitchenette sink, etc.). The day staff was definitely better, but we weren't there during the day time much. I would not recommend this hotel. There are others close by that appear much nicer and newer.

A very cosy hotel

The hotel is a walking distance to the Main Street. There were 2 lady staffs who can speak fluent English and are very helpful. The room is spacious and clean although the furnitures were not exactly brand new and shower heater may not work after awhile. But we loved the buffet breakfast and the man who is in charge of the egg station. He cooks different types of eggs according to our likings and we loved it!

Cozy hotel! Worth the money!

Me and my boyfriend were overall very happy with our 4 nights stay. Our room was spacious and clean. I could see the mountains from the balcony of our room. There is no lift in the hotel but we didn't have any complains with taking the stairs. We find the rooms in the basement cozier. Our room was at the third floor. The swimming pool looks pretty clean too. The female receptionist (I think she is the owner) was very kind and helpful (I know how demanding my boyfriend can get). For us, it does not really matter if they were of any help as long as we can see their sincerity and smiles.

Now for the downside, the receptionists can't speak english and he couldn't understand us, only the female owner is able to communicate in basic english but most of the times she is not there. Nonetheless the staff still tried their best to understand and help us. The keys of the hotel is attached to a magnetic tag that starts electricity running in the room and there are no duplicate keys provided so every time we go out the air conditioning totally goes off and leaves the room stuffy.

We were not too impressed by the breakfast, but couldn't complain much for the price i paid.

We strongly recommend this massage palour right before the bridge leading towards Moon beach we visited since the first night. The masseurs were friendly and skillful. After a 60min full body massage they offered us this refreshing sweet Thai tea. Don't go to the ones along busy streets and markets.

It was a pleasant stay. You get to catch the sunset right in front of your room. To get to shops on ao nang, it will be easier with a motorbike. Food vendors are easily accessible on the main road. I reckon it is only available on weekends.

The reception isn't 24 hours. Don't be surprise if you didn't see any one in the reception after 12am. Massage corner was great!

we had encountered other hotels who have receptionists who can't really speak english, the receptionist at royal nakara can speak english well, which is helpful. good location, short walk to Ao Nang beach, a bit longer walk to Noppharathara beach. went on low season for honeymoon and they gave us a free upgrade to a lovely suite at the top floor which was nicely furnished, with hair dryer, microwave, aircon and a nice balcony. We didn't use the balcony as it was raining a lot during our two night stay. The hot water boiler is a bit small so when taking a shower the hot water runs out and you have to wait a minute or two before hot water comes again. No lift, but guests only need to climb 2-3 floors, so this is fine. TV has english and chinese channels. Value for money.

Nothing to write home about...

Been traveling SE Asia for a couple months now, and must say this was one of my least favorite hotel/hostel accommodations. Yes, this is a budget option but after relocating within Ao Nang to a different hostel, I realized that there were FAR better places for the same (or lower) price. The location was within a decent walk to the beach...although the staff directed us to walk through wild-dog-ridden back alleys as the \"shortcut\". Restaurants nearby were also decent at best, but overpriced for certain. Wish that the hotel offered at least some sort of menu. Didn't use the pool but wow is it in a weird location, literally sandwiched between two buildings. Room was okay but our water, both in the sink and shower, was yellow and didn't get warm at all.

Overall, don't expect a whole lot if you're choosing Royal Nakara. Look for something further down Ao Nang Beach.

Really good value and really helpful staff

The staff here were so helpful- they let me leave my bag there for a week while I went to Phi Phi. The room was very spacious and immaculately cleaned every day. The breakfast was great and the pool is a nice relief from the heat.
I thoroughly recommend staying here.

Quiet location

Tucked away off the main road the the quieter end of town (opposite end to main beach) We were given a very spacious room and bathroom on the pool side of the hotel. Huge bed and clean room. Only negative was the breakfast choice - there were only 2 cereals (a choc one and cornflakes) - muesli and some yoghurt would have been a great alternative. There was a member of staff cooking omelettes but this was limited to omelettes - a choice of eggs would have been nice to have. The presence of a pool was a nice surprise but as it's small (tucked between two buildings), it's more of a plunge/cool down pool than somewhere to spend time relaxing/sunbathing. Staff very pleasant and helpful when required. Great choice of restaurants/bars less than 5min walk away.

We stayed 2 nights at the Royal Nakara hotel - we were very suprised at the quality of the room, which was excellent value for money, given the cheap price we had paid. The hotel is 5 - 10 mins walk from the beach and main drag of Ao Nang and is very quiet at night, the room was very spacious and had its own kitchenette. The room was very clean and the hotel staff were very pleasant and friendly, would definately recommend this place

My stay was comfortable, in a clean room and as I was on the top floor I had a good view. There are many other hotels in front but I could see over their roof tops. Been on a lower floor would be a problem however. The pool location is in a difficult position.
The staff where very friendly and helpful. The hotel is a 5 min walk to the beach or tuc-tuc will take you down.

This is not hotel; it’s a small building which the owner turned it and called it hotel. It might be Motel or Inn but never a hotel. I don’t know how they have this hotel 4 starts, it’s not even 2 !!
I booked for 4 days; I left this hotel after the 2nd day…..

Room: the whole hotel has 12 rooms, the room was clean, and you have to take the stairs to get to the room. The amenities that they mentioned it on the website, it’s not all there, or its fake !!

Breakfast: was very poor, breakfast at home is much better and more verities

Staff: was very good and friendly, they tried to help us as much as they can

I would not stay in this hotel for sure and I would not go to Krabi again, stay your vacation in Phuket, its much much better…..

The good: Front desk customer service was great. Booking a taxi, bus, etc. through them saves a lot of money. Very willing to help. Good free breakfast. The bad: Neighborhood garbage dump half a block away on the way to the beach, hold your nose going past. Shower curtain had mildew. Narrow flight of steps going down to the room.

Those that didn't tried and would always get someone who did if they couldn't communicate. It's a bit further out of town which was great during the day as you walked down from one side of town but a bit of a concern walking back at night.

Great staff, exceptionally friendly and willing to help. Hotel is Caen and in good condition. It is very good compared to other 3 or 4 star hotels we have stayed at during this trip in thailand. Location is great. While u are not right on the beach it is only about a 5 minute walk and keeps u away from the nois if au nang. Pretty good breakfast. Overall I am very happy with this hotel. Solid value for the money we paid.

FILTHY! The grubbiest place I've stayed!

This hotel was in a good location but it was filthy! We stayed in a hut by the beach later in our trip and that was cleaner than this place! The sheets were clean but that was the only thing. The chairs had marks and stains on all cushions, it was dusty and so dirty that there were cobwebs, dust, dirt and litter just behind the bedside cupboard when we plugged the phone in. The room smelt of damp and the bathroom ceiling was stained with the damp. It was not just run down and a little old, it was like it had not been cleaned. The bathroom cupboard had marks where toothpaste had run down it and hadn't been cleaned, the toilet roll holder had a metal flap on the top which was both rusty and dirty. Do not stay here if you want to feel clean and relaxed. There are far cheaper places that you could stay in if you are prepared to set your standards low!

A great budget oriented stay place

Royal Nakara Ao Nang is a great place to stay for a transfer or low cost. It is about 10 min walk away from Ao Nang beach. The owner was of great hospitality and helped us find an outlet converter to use our mosquito repeller. It has a very interesting swimming pool which locates in the middle of Royal Nakara and another hotel next door.

Quiet, relaxing

Got this as a last-minute hotel at an internet cafe on hotels.com. Off the main Ao nang strip on a quiet road (with many other hotels), but walkable if you want the nightlife. Room was spacious with the low and form Thai bed (king), standard kettle, slippers, robe, bottle of complimentary water. Didn't have a chance to use the pool, although it looked really nice. Complimentary breakfast was very good (although we shouldn't have stuffed ourselves before going to our Smart Cooking cooking class right afterwards), a mix of Thai and western choices. Only drawback was that the door was similar to a dressing room's, with slats, so not the best in terms of privacy. Nice, romantic, and relaxing place, which I would recommend. Front desk helped us sign up for Smart Cooking cooking class, which we totally recommend (a lot of fun, learning, and food).

Royal Nakara - Great value for money

Stayed here for several days and was amazed at how friendly and helpful the staff was. Their English is great and they will go out of their way to help in booking tours (at reasonable prices too!). Delicious full breakfast in the mornings and only a short walk from the main road. Highly recommended! Only complaint was that the bed was a little firm, but that's pretty standard in Thailand.

Lovely hotel a little off the main road but within pleasent walking distance to everything. Stayed in a Jnr. Suite that was beautifully appointed and very comfortable. The cleanliness of this hotel is first rate, I was extremely impressed, the showers are excellent and hot, the a/c quiet and cold. The beds were firm and I slept really well. Minibar prices were reasonable. The pool was well maintained and really clean. This hotel has good internet access at very reasonable rates.
The staff were excellent, very friendly and accomodating.
I highly recommend this hotel.

Excellent Choice - definitely going back

This was the best hotel we stayed in on our 1 month trip around Thailand.
It is a small, family run hotel offering excellent service - they are always so keen t help and very cheerful.
The breakfast is excellent although they can run out of things
The room was very good but the bed a litle hard for me - like most Thai hotels though
It was only a short walk to both beaches and the restaurants/shops - we much prefered not to be in the main centre as it is much quiter here
we were dropped off by the ferry bus and picked up for all our excursions.
They even offer free dvds to watch in you room
Please try this hotel - you will not be disappointed - they deserve to do very well.

Nice hotel tucked away from the main street

Hotel was clean and our stay was pleasant. Staff where extremely helpful. beautiful breakfast. Might only note that due to the construction work next door there was some loud noises, but that cant be helped. The hotel is about a less than 5min walk away from the main road and is tucked away between two buildings but we managed to find it. Airport transfer was easy with staff helping us arrange for a taxi service.

Tudo funciona e a localização é boa, mas o hotel é bem antigo. Não conta com elevador e para acessar os quartos apenas por escadas que levam a andares inferiores. Também não possui opção de café da manhã nem pago a parte.

Nous avons beaucoup aimé notre séjour

Très bon séjour. Le personnel très agréable et de bonnes recommandations. Piscine agréable et calme. L’hôtel est en retrait du bruit de ao nang tout en restant à proximité de tout. Pas de pdj mais à proximité d’un 7/11 et de petits restau. Une adresse à garder !

So sauber was das Zimmer leider nicht. Im Badezimmer da ist ein kleines Finster, was die ganze Zeit offen war und Insekten rein kommen konnten.

The room was clean and big. Only the bathroom was a bit dirty but it's okay for that price. We enjoyed our stay here :)

Hyvä perushotelli. Kaikki tarvittava löytyi huoneista. Henkilökunta mukavaa ja avuliasta. Lyhyt kävelymatka uimarannalle ja palveluihin. Mikäli et etsi luksusta vaan ihan perustason hotellia on tämä hyvä vaihtoehto.

Abbiamo soggiornato qualche giorno in questa struttura, siamo stati accolti da personale molto cordiale e disponibile in un contesto quasi famigliare, la struttura è carina ed ha un ottimo rapporto qualità-prezzo ovviamente senza grosse pretese, buona pulizia della stanza e buona colazione ( un po’ ristretta ma buona) . För det priset och samt område kan man inte begäran mer! Vänlig personal och skön lokal känsla! Ett plus är att närmaste massage ställe är 40 meter från hotellet, Absolut värt de 7 dagarna vi var på besök! Frukosten skulle dock kunna vara lite bättre! Men det var de enda!

El hotel nos gusto mucho, nos recibieron con una bebida, el desayuno es tipo buffet, las habitaciones son amplias, limpias, cama comoda, personal amable... no es muy cerca del centro pero puedes llegar facilmente caminando

Mycket bra. Fint hotell. Hjälpsam personal. Rent. God frukost med bacon och omelett. Läge bra. Nära centrum men lugnt område. Tar ca 10 min att gå till beach och centrum. Ligger mellan två beacher så det är bra variation. Allt plus enda minuset dålig wifi i rummet/balkong. Rummen stora. Finns thekokare, värdeskåp, daglig påfyllning av kaffe och vatten.

Nous n'irons pas dans une autre hôtel à Ao Nang.

En fait, nous avons envie de garder secret notre appréciation de cet hôtel car c'est la 2e fois que nous y allons. L'équipe est génial, l'accueil au top et familial. Nous avons eu une très belle grande chambre avec une terrasse avec vue sur la mer. En rentrant chaque soir, une surprise nous attendait soit une corbeille de fruits, des fleurs ou des superbes décorations avec les essuie de bain. Le seul défaut est le chemin sans trottoir pour vous rendre au centre ville assez proche.
