It’s in a very handy location. We didn’t need any taxis we walked everywhere easily. Staff are so lovely. Room was beautiful and well equipped. New water and towels daily. Well done to everyone.

The hotel is very dirty, blood spot on bed sheet. Toilet so dirty and fungus in shower area. Sink is blocked and water is not drained. Smell very bad from toilet . Bad reception guy . Rude . This is ruined my vaccination so bad. Stay away if u don’t want to experience like me. No parking . Electric run off in middle in the night. I have to moved to new room 23:30 . A lot of mosquitoes

Get what you pay for, nothing more

Overall I would give this hotel a 6.5 out of 10z location. Location is pretty good and central to most things like restaurants and tours.

The room and facilities were dated. Had issues with some plumbing right away, but to their credit they did fix it. Overall staff was accommodating, but not much else.

Beds were very stiff, flat and hard. Area is a bit noisy, but that is too be expected within reason for that busy area of Krabi.

The rooftop pool was a bonus and was very clean.

Pros -
1)it had 2 pools, the top floor pool is nice for just wading and sitting around as there are steps to sit on with the jet sprays to massage you, and is a nice and quiet place to chill and suntan, the lower floor is mostly shaded by the sun and is deeper and cooler, making it a nice place to swim and get a break from the heat of the sun.
2) Service staff is always very poliet and accommodating.
3) Its just beside the Resturant Wan Sai and near a boat taxi service to head to the other islands and Railay Beach if you are interestd
4) Near the beach that is to my opinion nicer than the main beach in front of Ao Nang Town
5) Ao nang Food market is nearer this facility at arnd 10mins walk

Cons
1) Mattress is a spring mattress that is kinda old, so the springs are abit off. I could've requested for a change of room, but basically, I wasnt't too keen as it wasn't a full house and could have easily given me one room with better furnitures. The study table, clothes rack was also rickety.
2) The heated water was also quite unstable, making it hard to control the correct temperature to enjoy a warm shower.. in the end, I mostly showered cold anyways as it is pretty hot in krabi...
3) Breakfast was only ok. I am not one to be very fussy and choosy, but I did feel that the selections were not much.
4) More tarps on the roof of the pool would make the pool a nicer place.

The wifi was a bit erratic at times. Fabulous sunset views. Lot more on offer from the hotel than wat it appears from the outside. Daily fresh beach bags for guests

We booked the pool access room and LOVED it! Very clean room, with everything you need while on holiday. The air-conditioning was very cold so it was very comfortable, though a bit noisy. Staff was very sweet and attentive, very helpful when asked about how to get around. We went for a couple's massage and expected a private room, but it was just the normal massage place with the curtains drawn. Still enjoyable but I would suggest going to a massage parlor outside the hotel where it would be cheaper. Bit of a walk to the beach, but we didn't mind it as it was a bit far from the beach-side bars, so it was not noisy at night.
Will stay again (and hopefully get the same room)!

I recommend this hotel to those who would like to stay at Ao Nang.
The room is clean and very comfortable. All room comes with balcony. Wifi connection in the room & lobby also superb. Love the beach basket. Easy to carry to island tour.
Massage really good... really love the way they did Thai massage. Worth it to try.
Swimming pool at the roof top, for me its good for relaxing.....
Walking distance to all the shops & restaurants. Near to ATM & 7E.
Breakfast choice very limited at this restaurant (this is the minus part) but for lunch & dinner got more choices.
Communications really problem but anyway we manage to get it solve.... but its not big issue.

Got the Small Krabi for a good price for 2 nights. 5 minute taxi/tuktuk from the pier in which the boat from Phi Phi drops off. 5-10 minute walk from the nightlife and couple of minutes from the beach. 2 good size pools. Couldn’t fault for what I paid.

I loved this hotel: both pools are quirky and inviting. The staff were friendly and helpful - they even supply each room with their own beach bag with mats and towels! I booked because of a very good price offer through Expedia but I was delighted I had and I will be recommending to anybody travelling to Au Nang.

This is the little sister hotel to one down the street, where you can use their facilities too. It was walking distance to two beaches, but the closest one was not as nice as the one down the street. The tide goes out really far and to catch long boats can mean a long trek out to them. There are many places to eat, get massages and buy adventure packages. Very close to night market for good food, shopping and entertainment.

Small Krabi is located near the main drag and is easy walking distance. The staff were friendly and always ready to help. The rooms were clean. The only suggestion I would have would be brighter lights (as it was very dim at night) and hot water for shower. We had three rooms and two had hot water and the third had lukewarm. Otherwise, a great experience with a great checkout time. Thank you Small Krabi

Changed hotels do to leak in original room

We arrived for check in at 2pm (as requested). Upon checkin the hotel concierge walked us down the street to their sister hotel and said the room we booked was under repair because of flooding. The new room was suppose to be complimentary upgrade. It was on 5th floor with a very limited ocean view. We accepted, what else to do. As we unpacked and tried to enjoy balcony, it was facing the sun and was too unbearable to sit on. Not only did the balcony itself heat up but the sun beat on the door wall and made the room very very very hot even with the weak A/C blowing. The next day we went out allday on a tour of the islands. When we came back it took 6 hours to get the room bearable enough to relax. We had to keep the black out blinds shut the whole time to keep heat out. Very depressing to not have any sunlight in room.
Wifi on 5th floor was very troublesome. Hit or miss.

Stayed there for two nights and the staff of the hotel ade very welcoming. Nice breakfast and the room is very cosy. So far have not experience any mosquitoes in the room. The room is big and spacious. Very clean! And I loveeee the toilet.

An affordable place to stay in too. It is close to the beach and a walking distance to shops and restaurants too.

Furthermore, the locals there are all nice and welcoming. Would definitely stay there when I visit Krabi again.

Hotel staffs were very friendly. My wife and I really excited because they upgraded my room from studio room to double room with pool access. They were very thoughtful. Umbrellas, towels and basket are provided for you to the seaside.

However, there was a lot mosquito so that you must have a mosquito repellent and upstairs swimming pool was closed for maintenance.

Overall is good. I would recommend this hotel to my friends.

A great find!

A great hotel which exceeded our expectations. We chose the hotel for its proximity to the long tail boats arriving in from Railay beach ( just across the road) and also it's great value. We arrived after staying at an hotel more than double the price and was very surprised that it was better in nearly every way; super friendly staff, a stylish comfortable bedroom and a great breakfast. Overall the hotel condition not very good, we stayed studio room for first 2 nights (Room2006), the problem is the air-cond not working well, the water heater need long time to get hot water, it's painful during bathing time, please look into this issue. Be awared that there is no BATHTUBE in studio room
We stayed into pool access room during last night of our vacation, the room is spacious and sweet, the condition is much more better than the superior room, but the problem is the sliding door lock is spoiled! This is an serious issue.

The breakfast not so bad, the hotel is changing the menu daily.

nice hotel despite of some mosquitoes issues. pool access room is a plus, nice jacuzzi attached to the room. room has big bathroom with amenities, nice place to wind down after tiring island hoping/tiger cave hiking trips. Had a pleasant experience at The Small Krabi. Staff were pleasant and attendant to our needs. On our last day, we even had the rooftop pool to ourselves (there are two pools - one on ground floor which everyone would walk past, with the rooftop cousin being more secluded).

Only downside was the massage offered at the "spa" which, didn't live up to our expectations. The masseuse were nice and friendly, but we found better skilled masseuse just around the corner.

Overall an enjoyable time at The Small. Would go back again for its bang for buck.

Great location, near beach, easy to find foods, along the ao anang beach may restaurant, on 3rd day hotel was no water supply due to maintenance, notice stated from 12noon to 4pm, but when we back to hotel at 4.30pm still no water supply, one of the light was not function, we did informed hotel staff, but until we check out still not repair.
When we check in time, one of the hotel staff agreed late check out at 2pm due to our flight at 5.10pm, but when actual check out, somehow the staff not allowed, insist us to check out on time.

It was located at Ao Nang with access to both beaches. It was really tourist friendly with a tour desk which you could bargain for packages. I have compared all the rates and found it was quite competitive. Always rmb to haggle!

Another highlight was the street stalls lined at the junction of the hotel. It was always crowded especially the Barbeque stall. The crepe/prata is worth a try as well.

Hotel was accurate as per pictures and the room was well maintained with daily housekeeping. Just that hot water wasn't consistent throughout our showers and it can get really cold sometimes. But overall 5/5!

Pleasant, clean rooms, with a lovely view from the balcony. The pool was also very nice. The staff is mostly friendly.
Overall, I'd stay again.

There were a couple of unpleasant incidents: they did not have my reservation for some reason and there was a lot of back and forth to figure out why; we got breakfast coupons, and I wasn't sure if I booked a room with breakfast, and thought that either I did or this was to compensate for the earlier unpleasantness. After the first breakfast, they said that in fact I did not book the room with breakfast and that I had to pay for breakfast for two - about $25, almost as much as the room cost (I checked online and the difference between breakfast and non-breakfast was only $8). I refused to pay and just gave the coupons back for my upcoming night. Not a big deal but a bit unpleasant to be confronted with that.
Also, the deposit is relatively high, 2500 baht.

Really impressed with this little place although was a little dubious on first impressions. Great location with countless places to eat, drink, snack and get transport. 2 beaches within a small walk, the rooms provide towels, beach mats and a beach bags along with all your toiletries, slippers and gowns. Rooms are spacious and clean but not given a rating of 5 as restaurant is tired and the pools could be a little cleaner (although definitely clean enough to swim in). Wasted roof top space and would suggest to management that they put astroturf on the 2 side areas with comfy seating and some shade.

Staff friendly but hotel is rundown and overpriced

I will preface this review by saying that the staff at this hotel (with the exception of one lady that works the after hours shift) are very friendly and very willing to help. Unfortunately however our stay was let down by the very rundown hotel, and a series of disgusting and unfortunate experiences during our stay. We paid for the Moon Suite and were very excited for our stay in a deluxe room in a 'boutique' hotel, however were very disappointed with what we got in reality. When we arrived in our room we were greeted with a putrid smell - something akin to a mix of raw sewage, mold and something dead. We initially thought it may be because the room needed to be aired out, but we later discovered the smell was coming from the air conditioning unit. Lots of things were broken (window shades, radio etc), and the Moon Suite decking was old and deteriorating, with dangerous holes. Our toilet was also faulty and overflowed with raw sewage over the bathroom on our second night. As this happened at 11:30pm and was 'after hours' (and the housekeeping room was apparently locked) all they could offer was a towel to mop the sewage up. We had to wait until the next morning for the cleaners to come and clean it properly. It was a night of absolute hell. This was not the 'deluxe' or 'boutique' experience we expected.

You won't regret.

Everything was awesome!! The service was tip top. Hotel area very peaceful. Breakfast is fresh and quite a variety. Room was upgraded to a honeymoon suite. Bathtub was able to fit the both of us and there a tv in the bathroom too!! Suite had a pool access with a jacuzzi. Rooftop pool have a very good view with cliff on the side and its warm. Nice place to chill out and relax. Food stalls are nearby. Everyone is super friendly around. The receptionist is very accomodating. Arranged us and airport transfer despite the 2nd part of our trip we stayed in a diff hotel. The activities tour agent at the entrance is super nice. She really took concern on our day tours. And can even give discount and good tips. And she will scold the tour company if they not being nice to us. My advice, always be nice and smile and greet them,not harm doing all those, you'll have a pleasent stay and well taken care of. The Small krabi, i will definitely come back to stay.

The hotel is clean and comfortable. The room is equipped with fold-able clothes hanger and bamboo basket bag with towel inside for you to bring for island tour. The staff here is friendly. The ground floor room can access to swimming pool just from the balcony. Also, you can go to the roof top pool for a very nice sunset view for the evening. The location is good as walking distance to Ao Nang beach for dinner/cafe/bar/convenience store is not that far. It is worth to take a walk as you can see much more thing you can. Bring convenience to our trip. The only thing that would disappointed is the variety of breakfast is slightly limited but still it is enough to fill up the stomach.

Small But very friendly Hotel

We booked 2 rooms with pool access as I was travelling with my husband and 2 teenage daughters, we arrived before the check in time but the rooms were ready for early check in, we were told that mine and my husbands room had been upgraded to the honeymoon suite which was stunning and as it was the week before our wedding anniversary was a lovely treat. The staff were wonderful and every friendly anything that you needed and they were there to help. The hotel also has a sister hotel straight across the road so you have the choice of taking breakfast in ever hotel and can use the facilities in both hotels. The great thing was that each day a beach bag was placed in your room with fresh beach / pool towels and flip flops. so if you are wishing to travel light then you do not need a beach bag / towels or any toilettes as these are all provided. The location was very good just a 5 minute walk to both Ao Nang beach and the shops and restaurant. There is a small section of restaurants bar and supermarket just around the corner from the hotel.

Great hotel.. except for the bed.

Booked this hotel on a promo, stayed 3 nights in the pool access room.

Its located along the road that stretches from Ao Nang beach to nopparat thara beach, so getting around for sight-seeing and food is convenient. The airport shuttle bus also stops just across the hotel. So getting there from the airport is convenient too.

The room is spacious for 2 people.

Room had some mosquitoes when i first checked in, but isn't really a big problem. They provided us with an electronic insect repellent. Just keep the windows closed at all times.

Breakfast is included. Food is normal, nothing spectacular or bad, just OK. Bed is a bit hard, that is why i gave a 4 for room comfort.

The staff is very helpful, friendly and polite.

Overall, i really enjoyed my stay here and will recommend this to people on a budget. The pool access room is good, just step out and you are in the pool. Will stay here again if I were to go to Krabi again.

The room wasn't as good as it looked in pics. When we checked in,the table was stained & the bathroom door had cracks. I would understand if I had paid a low amount but it was not the case. I has to talk my way out and move into another property. By this time they had already charged my card. So they moves me to Laplaya which was owned by the same group. The small Krabi not worth the price at all.

Great location, great value

Nice spacious room with a huge bed. Good shower with a novel window into the bedroom (blind included for the shy). Attentive staff on check in and when arranging transfers, asking for directions etc. Breakfast was of a good standard - much better than other similarly priced hotels on our travels around Thailand. Only a few minutes walk to the centre of Ao Nang beach. Would recommend - use of the nearby Krabi Playa resort is included for those in need of a gym and a larger pool.

Recomend to anybody

I stayed in this hotel for 5 nights and could not fault it. From the roof top pool to use of the sister hotel pool and swim up bar. You also get a beach bag to use every day including towels n slippers which is a nice touch.

The location is perfect as anyway you turn when you leave will lead you to bars and restraunts and a 2 minuite stroll to one of 2 beaches.

Me and my wife will definately be visiting here again.

Staff great, but not sure about the room.

I arrived to be told they had no rooms for me, despite booking MONTHS in advance. I was moved to their sister property across the street. The staff was concerned for my needs and accommodated me. I can't say anything else, as I didn't stay.I had to give a rating, so I chose average, but again, I AM NOT SURE.

You may get sister hotel, La Playa

I was originally booked for the Small but they were overbooked. If you look at other reviews, this happens often, so we were put in the sister hotel across the street, La Playa. (La Playa similarly overbooks a lot, and they walk customers to The Small.). At first, I was annoyed, but I really liked La Playa. The location is terrific, and all the staff are really friendly.

Great hotel

The hotel itself was lovely. Very cute ample sized rooms with balconys that aren't overlooked. Just outside of the more busy parts but very walkable to everything. Friendly staff. Nice breakfast. Beautiful little pools. Wish the pool bar had been open but we were there in the low season and didn't always have the best weather. Would definitely stay there again.

Stayed 3 nights during end of August 2014. Great hotel, can't find any fault. Good location and service. Beach bag with mattress and beach towels provided in each room which we found very useful for island hopping with our private Longtail boat charter. On site travel/ tour office very helpful and with very competitive rates.

Great stay at The Small

The Small is a modern chic hotel a little away (10min walk) from the hustle and bustle of the main beach area at Ao Nang. It was great for me and my (pregnant) wife as we didn't really fancy the crowds of tourists. At the same time, we didn't want to be too far away from where we could get souvenirs, food and soak in the beach atmosphere. So in terms of location, it was perfect for us. The hotel itself is clean although the beds were a little too hard for my wife (she was pregnant), so we requested another blanket and used it as an additional layer of cushioning for her. We particularly enjoyed the pool access room as we could just take a dip in the pool whenever we wanted, or just enjoy the personal jacuzzi that came with it. We ordered room service and it was promptly delivered and it was tasty. Breakfast selection was sufficient and food was generally acceptable. Service was great as well, as the staff gave recommendations on what we could do since my wife cannot do most of the activities like speed boat, island hopping etc. All in all, it was a great stay (except for the hard bed) and I would definitely return to stay again!

Disappointing facilities, okay rooms.

The restaurant was permanently closed, the pool bar consisted of a menu and a telephone on a table. Overall, the rooms were clean and nice, but the other areas of the hotel did not correspond to the pictures or what was sold. The staff did try to make up for it though...

Nice hotel with comfortable amenities

The hotel is about 10 minutes walk to the Ao Nang stretch of shops.
I had the room which has pool access and it's really nice. The lap pool is just outside my balcony door with a jacuzzi which I could control from my room.
The bed was comfy with 4 pillows and 4 cushions. They also provided a beach basket bag with a beach mat and you could take it out with you on your island hopping tours.
Take note that the toilet door and wardrobe door is a single big sliding door. When the door is closed for the toilet, it will be open for the wardrobe and vice versa. My husband was using the toilet while I was digging for something in the wardrobe and when he was done, he slid the door open to let himself out, promptly squashing me in the wardrobe. Quite dangerous actually.

Upon check in one of the staff brought is to our room that's on ground floor. I have booked a room with balcony not pool access. But the staff told us its a free upgrade. Yeah right. This is a ploy that's been used on other tourists as well. But we aren't buying it. So I insisted on having a room on the upper floor. Of cos the staff wasn't happy and got her colleague to attend to us instead. Housekeeping has a lot to work on. The only things they do is make up the bed and clean the toilet and bins. But no sweeping or clearing of rubbish on tables. Location is a little far from shops but its a nice walk.

Good hotel near the sea. Good service with very nice pool downstairs but also in the roof. Good breakfast but have to be aware of birds which can eat your food if you leave your food alone for a while. I think this hotel is more than 3 stars. Very pleasant visit and I can recommend it to other guests.

Value for money for the Pool access room

Apart some bad points such as bathroom have no bathtub and the shower head is not strong enough.
There moquitos in the area, the room are very clean. Housekeeping very prompt in replacing items.
This hotel is quite a distance away from the beach shops but is a nice walk.
You can just take a tuktuk back at 30bath per person.
Breakfast is normal not much to choose from, but is fine by us which we like to have roadside food which are around the corner of the hotel

Nice small hotel

It was my second time here. The staffs are always nice and friendly. The room is quite big. And the bed is comfortable. The weak point is the hotel is far from the beach. It's ok if you wanna get 1 day tour to other island And the breakfast everyday is almost the same.

Good clean hotel. I got a poolside room. The pool is beautifu - always cold as it dosnt get any sun - but refreshing. The hotel is clean - great bathroom.
breakfast is lousy - dont take the option - eat elsewhere.
