Great location, friendly and English speaking front desk staff. Didn’t get to experience room service as first day I’ve stayed there i slept most of the time and second day for some reason they didn’t service the room after i left to explore the city but that’s fine as i really didn’t need the housekeeping.
Amenities are dated and definitely require refresh.
But I’d definitely stay there again

Is an extremely old property, I woke up sweaty because the air conditioning didn't work, the internet was conspicuous by its absence, there was never any, the area where the hotel was located was not the best, the streets were dirty and there were a lot of brothels around. Terrible and dirty place with bugs. Service is poor and the rooms don’t even have basic amenities. The hotel is not at all maintained. The owner of the property is very rude to the customers when asked for a service and doesn’t care about customers. Worst hotel I stayed so far! Please, avoid at any cost!

Simple and clean. Friendly staff.

Located in the busy street of Augusta, with lots of restaurants and bars (although I was only there for 2 days during the lockdown, so everything was closed).

As for safety, it is advised not to use your phone while walking on Augusta when it is dark and quiet.

Bad attitude and Someone open our door!

I’m going to start with the good. The front desk guy Marco was fantastic. Super friendly accommodating and everything you want when you walk into your hotel. He set my expectations high. The kitchen staff and cleaning staff was great too. The breakfast was delicious.

I only had three problems. First, I completely understand the bathroom facilities are old. I can work with that. So you won’t have hot water instantly unless you run the hot water in the sink for 2 minutes. But the toilet leaks water too. So it was more annoying.

The other front desk guys I didn’t like. I’m American and I’m traveling for work. My girlfriend was with me too. However the other two front desk guys were sassy and I didn’t their attitude. They kept asking my girlfriend what room number she was in. Dude! She is with me. We walked into the front door to together and came down from the elevator together. Then the bald front desk guy asked her when she checking out. The other guy had glasses and was sassy. Keep in mind these guys didn’t even talk to me. Yes I speak Portuguese! I operate services for intercambio for Brazilian students.

The third problem was someone opened our room door. I believe it was a staff member. Because the door was left open with the door tag hanging on the handle. Our door is next to the elevator which is old. It has a normal door in front of the open elevator door. There’s two of them. So they could have easily hidden. This happened in the evening.

Comfortable centrally located hotel

Simple but comfortable worth value for money hotel. Centraly located in the area full of bars and restaurants therefore it can be quite noisy in the night. Excellent breakfast provided, nice and friendly staff in the restaurant and reception. Safe and clean.

The place was in bad shape. Lamps and blow dryer did not work, needed replacement. My room was in the back of the hotel, which was great to muffle the sounds from the street, but that meant that the wi-fi only worked at the door of the room. If I was to sit at the table to work, there was no signal. Bed was not comfortable and rooms were noisy (you could hear people in the rooms next door). Breakfast was ok, definitely not great, and the management refused to turn the AC on were it was served. That represented a warm and stuffed room during breakfast.

There is a bar in front of the hotel, all night long you can't sleep. Staff is very poor in service. They have no interest to help you with anything. I strongly recommend not to book this hotel. Definitely not with family and kids.

Excellent hotel during the week, but awful at the weekend. I slept about 3 hours Friday->Saturday because of the night club the other side of the road and the insanely thin windows, along with a couple in the room next door making as much noise as possible the entire night during their...nighttime activities. Would stay again during the week, but the place should close at the weekend.

Got the job done

I stayed 2 nights, the first night, with only 2 people in the room was not that great. The beds had no springs and the room was a bit cramped (but there was a closet so huge, you could put another bed in there!). The second night with 3 people, the room was a million times better (but the cost of the room went up). Drawbacks: only 1 room key is given, no matter how many people stay in the room. The breakfast was ok but no hot items. Also, of all the hotels I stayed at in Brazil, this was the only one that ever handed me a tv remote at check in. Pluses: convenient to the main streets I wanted to visit and to a metro and was able to find good places to eat and drink near by. The customer service was helpful and spoke English.

Great Budget Hotel in Sao Paulo

The rooms are comfortable but very basic and could do with some pictures/paintings on the walls to liven up the atmosphere. The laminated floors ensure that the room is clean and dust free. The bathroom while small is functional and adequate and I enjoyed the larger than normal shower space i.e. I did keep bumping my elbows on the side panels/walls. The internet connection/WiFi worked without problems and was speedy. Bed was comfortable and the towels and linens were fresh clean and crispy.
Like most hotels in Brazil the foyer/passage area in front of the rooms could do with a weekly vacuum...just to keep them clean.
Breakfast buffet was very adequate with a good selection of fruit, fruit juice, cereals, cheese, cold meats and bread selection. The hot breakfast of scrambled eggs and a local meat offer changed everyday. Ample supply of coffee, selection of teas and hot chocolate with a good selection of sweet pastries on offer.
Reception staff are very friendly and helpful with some very good tips for dining out and finding shops that you may need like banks, pharmacy etc in the area around the hotel.
Finally, the housekeeping staff are very honest and must be recommended on this - when I stayed in the hotel I forgot my Gold ring (sentimental value) on the night stand and even though I had checked out, when I returned to the hotel 3 hours later to ask about the ring, the ring was in safe keeping with the reception - Well done and Thank You.

This hotel it is not a three star hotel whatsoever... very very basic...staff unhelpful, loads of refurbishment while I was there....very noise and dusty. I was disappointed with everything.

Lovely hotel-- we extended our stay

- The hotel is beautiful and the price is good.
- The breakfast buffet was delicious, plentiful: cereals, several fresh fruits, several types of bread for toast, many types of rolls (some sweet), cheeses, meats, milk, yogurt, juice, coffee, tea, etc.
- There is a upscale supermarket a couple of blocks away.
- By day the neighborhood looks a bit iffy, that's because there are many trendy clubs located in the grungy buildings that come life at night.
- We were on the fifth floor (facing front) and the noise was minor.
- Rear rooms overlook the very posh São Paulo Athletic Club.
- Many bus lines go down Augusto street, but it is quite a long walk to the Metro.
- Paulista street is a 20 minute walk (or a quick bus ride).

Not a good hotel for family

The Hotel is very basic, fine for the price. However, I was warned not to \"turn right\" out of the hotel at night. The street immediate in front of the hotel and very noisy, all day and night!

Tired old hotel that smelt stale throughout. Poor breakfast, decent wi fi.

Coveniently situated 10 mins walk from Ave Paulista, but beware - it's on the skuzzy part of rua Augusta with prostitutes, passed out crackheads and rent boys just outside your hotel (to be fair tho, nobody ever bothered us).

We chose it because it was cheap and regretted it - if ever there was a time it was worth investing an extra 20 bucks to get a better hotel this is it.

Major building work right next to hotel (March 2012) with pile driving during daytime which made it poor as a place to work during working hours. Looks extensive. Our stay at Moncloa Hotel was enjoyable and perfect for seeing the inner city of Sao Paulo!
The hotel is a bit old looking, but facilities were in good order, airconditioning, bathroom e.t.c.
The free breakfast was a welcome start to the day.
Eric at reception was really great in providing helpful directions in english.
Both old and new downtown are easily accessible by foot, if prepared to walk, and the subway system is really clean and accessible.
The surrounding area was of no real safety concern!
It seemed to be frequented by a cultured young demographic that enjoyed the small restaurants and bars on the street.
Weekend was a little noisy, the rest of our stay was fine.
Highly recommend this hotel for value and location.

We only stayed here for one night because we were flying out of Sao Paulo the day after and our plan was to just stay in the hotel and take it easy. Unfortenately they could not offer anything to eat since it was a sunday. The rooms are ok and the staff was friendly and helpful.

The hotel is really good especially for the prices on offer. The lower price reflects location which is perhaps not the best, however during the day it is very safe. At night, there are several clubs open (throughout the street). I also noticed that there were some working girls in the area.

However, the clubs did not affect the hotel and I felt safe near the hotel at night as well as during the day. The atmosphere seemed ok. The proximity of the clubs was a boon for me as it meant I could easily get back to the hotel without having to take a late night taxi.

There are also some good resteraunts nearby.

The hotel itself is very good with helpful staff and good food.

I would come back to the hotel and recommend to others.

Great value-for-money little hotel in a central location with clean rooms. Helpful and friendly staff, speaks English, which is important an important factor. Subway nearby, and great restaurants within walking distance. Breakfast spread is decent. Surrounding location is OK in the evenings, given the presence of restaurants in the area.

good value for the rate we paid.

The hotel is located near Paulista Avenue, not in the best neighborhood but we did not have any problems walking trough the area even at night. Rooms are cleas, beds are too small and not too comfortable, breakfast is good and the guys in the front desk were very friendly and assisted us whenever we needed help. I would recomend it for short stays.

Pontos positivos: Funcionários muito educados e atenciosos, e quarto muito limpinho. Fiquei realmente impressionado com isso.

Pontos negativos: o Wi‑Fi não funciona nos quartos. Nem adianta reclamar que não tem o que fazer. O ar estava bem barulhento e acabávamos acordando de noite com alguns sustos do barulho que ele fazia. Tente reservar um quarto de fundo para ter menos barulho da rua (que é barulhenta por natureza, nao é culpa do hotel).

A estadia no Moncloa em São Paulo foi excelente!
Gostaria de parabenizar a equipe de limpeza, pelo cuidado ao manter tudo impecável desde a entrada até os quartos, aos recepcionistas pela simpatia, profissionalismo e gentileza e também as copeiras e equipe da cozinha, pela eficiência na reposição dos itens do café e organização do ambiente.

A localização é um ponto importante para quem aprecia a mobilidade urbana. Estar perto do metrô, ter fácil acesso a Ubers e poder explorar a região a pé é uma conveniência enorme. É importante mencionar que a rua possui, de fato, uma vida noturna bastante agitada, mas em nenhum momento nos sentimos inseguros, o que é fundamental.

Certamente, repetiria a experiência no Moncloa. Muito obrigado pela hospitalidade!

PS. Deixo a sugestão aos futuros hóspedes, para pesquisarem sobre a rua Augusta, antes de ir com menores de idade ou idosos conservadores.

Estadia bagunçada

Fiquei diversas vezes nesse hotel e sempre elogiei muito, porém essa última estadia foi um pouco mais embaraçosa. Cheguei antes do horário para o check in, só queria poder guardar o carro no estacionamento pq em SP é impossível estacionar, e mesmo com o carro já embicado para entrar tive que esperar 15min para liberar o quarto e então poder entrar no estacionamento, entretanto me permitiram fazer o check in antes do horário. O Wi-Fi não funcionou e a tv tb não, o hotel foi solicito em nos mudar para o outro quarto. Nesse outro quarto ficamos sem controle da tv e apenas 1 toalha de banho, pedimos no dia seguinte e foi resolvido. Por último, toda vez que chegávamos para entrar no quarto após a limpeza a chave não funcionava, tínhamos que descer até a recepção para ativar novamente. Resumindo, uma estadia bagunçada, porém o hotel tem potencial para melhorar.

Muito boa a estadia, café da manhã é muito bom, cama confortável, quarto com blackout, tem supermercados (no Shopping Frei Caneca) próximos para comprar comida e colocar no frigobar do quarto. Um problema foi o barulho da rua de madrugada, pois tem muito movimento e festa inclusive ao lado do hotel, não me incomodou muito pois eu estava cansado e dormi a noite toda, mas quem tem o sono leve pode ser que atrapalhe. Outro ponto importante também é que a internet não funcionava direito no meu quarto.

Tem pontos a melhorar

O hotel é antigo e o atendimento deixa a desejar. São poucas vagas de estacionamento então se for escolher por conta de ter estacionamento melhor procurar outro. O café da manhã é bom, simples e a comida é gostosa. A limpeza do banheiro deixa bastante a desejar, a recepção tem cheiro de mofo e a entrada de urina. O barulho da rua não incomoda tanto as janelas vedam bem mas o do ar condicionado é bem difícil de aguentar.

Eatadia tranquila, check-in rápido hotel próximo a estação Higienopolis Mackenzie, 05 minutos do shopping Frei Caneca, quarto espaçoso limpo e fundos tranquilo com bom café da manhã.
