Rooftop hot tub was nice, but the temp wouldn’t get hotter

We’ve just come back from a wonderful stay. The friendliest team, a great central location, fabulous quirky rooms and extra little touches. Really really Superb value, lovely breakfast. Very comfy bed. Cool roof top. Honestly excellent. Don’t worry about the comments on the street itself, it’s fine. Absolutely stay here, it’s a really great choice.

The hotel is the cheapest I found in Europe. The bed is amazing. Also, they pur reaconditionator, which is importa for long hairs. Everything was perfect. The area where is located is not the best, but the police station is just crossing the street, and the metro us only one block away. Forbthe price, it worth it!

This hotel was very quirky and inviting. The staff were lovely. There are thoughtful touches like freah fruit water in the lobby, and a hammock on the bar's balcony, and a reckrd player in the room.

Cool property with a hard rock vintage style. Modern yet retro. Extremely comfortable beds. Never slept better. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great amenities. Roof top with amazing views of Athens and a jacuzzi to boot. Definitely recommend. Walking distance to restaurants and of course the Acropolis.

Great spot to stay in Athens! Felt very safe the entire time, lots of great options to eat nearby.

AC didnt work in the room but that wasn't a big deal.

Rooftop patio is excellent but it is all BYOB and no bar on site. Hot tub was nice and clean up there and open 24/7

Good location to visit main sites, about 20 mins walk max. Area directly around the hotel a bit run down but good eateries and a shopping centre close by.

Room was functional, nice to have a terrace. Big shower and good sized bathroom. Towels weren’t always clean. Big bed.

It’s difficult to get a good night’s sleep when there is so much noise from outside and the hotel walls are so thin. Added to this is the black out curtains are not wide enough to blackout the light.

The breakfast is okay without being special.

The rooftop patio is very nice and the views are great. The best part of the hotel.

Great Stay for city break

We enjoyed our stay at Dave Red Athens. We arrived very late due to a delay in our flight, but we had a smooth check in. The room was a little on the small side, but this was fine as we knew that we'd be out & about most of the day. The shower//toilet was only separated by a glass panel which meant that most of the bathroom got wet but again not too huge an issue. Room was clean and quiet. The area was a little perhaps dodgy, I wouldn't have felt comfortable as a solo traveller walking back late at night, but I felt safe with my husband. Very convenient for the tube.

After a weeklong, stay with two young kids, I wanted to give a honest feedback.

There are two reasons I say, not kid friendly
1, the bathroom walls are plexiglass, even though you can't see through clearly you can still see a outline of the body. My daughter did not want her brother or me looking into the bathroom. This required me to put her in a private room something I do not like doing while traveling in foreign countries.

2. Even though they advertise a smart TV. You're limited to channels only, the smart features do not work. . The few English channels cater towards the adults after 9 PM. There was no appropriate channels for young children.

The second issue I had, even though the description of the rooms include the size. Not all rooms were the same size and when you added the bathroom, desk and bed into the room, you have a limited space to walk around your bed. we had no storage under the bed And one spot in the desk. The desk is also your closet if you are traveling with two bags expect to keep one bag in the walkway.

Some other disappointments we encounter. The hot tub is designed for two people.
The bar is closed. Breakfast is offered only.

Hotel staff were very friendly. Location is OK. Police department across the street. Recommend walking in pairs when leaving the hotel we didn't have any issues, but there is some drug usage in the area.

We were charged €150 per night per room. A fair value would be €60-€75 per night.

the rooms r maybe decorated modern but no glass for toothbrush and paste in the bathroom
the breakfast is very poor cleaning is not suitable and is not in the mornng they claim till 1600 so if we want to come and rest in the afternoon room is not clean
only one lift for 4 stars hotel 9 floors
towels are old
total review very bad for such a hotel and no wonder brown corp os loosing money
we shall never use this hotel and not recommend on it
a big shame for a 4 stars hotel
we go to athens for 18 years now 3-4 times a year first time we got such a poor hotel

The hotel is well located near Omonia square. It is surrounded by buss lines and within a five minutes walk from a subway station. There are eateries open 24/7 and while being located across from a police station means there's no parking at all, it also means you're completely safe and secured without any shady monkey business going on. The staff is kind, knowledgable and attentive. The hot tub on the roof is grand and the view of the acropolice nice. The gym is basic, but it is there. If you are a gym type of person, consider bringing resistance bands to supplement your options.

Surprisingly very pleasant

Due to the reviews we were a bit skeptical about the location. Turns out we didn’t see anything too alarming, not the best neighbourhood to hang out but it was okay. The hotel itself was actually very nice, staff were nice and helpful, we managed to use the hot tub even in winter. My favourite part was definitely the bed! What an amazing mattress.

Decent room for the price.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. They upgraded me to a room with a balcony. The room smelled like cigarettes but was easily aired out with the balcony door open. The breakfast spread was pretty decent, however not much for a vegan to eat aside from Toast and fruit. They had a machine to fill water. You can’t beat the price of $45 a night. The hot tub was warm and the view from the rooftop was lovely

Room design is very impractical. Bed size overwhelms room and is impossible for two people. Bathroom is small and again impractical. We were in another which would work for two people, but the Foxy Deluxe room is dank, disgusting and dingy! One person could tolerate the room. There were many decorative pillows that in photos looks exotic, but in reality they camouflage the flaws of the room and over crowd a tiny room filled with too much!

Amongst a lot of things the bed had bed bugs. I stay in a lot of hotels, at least fifty over the last two years, and never had an issue anywhere in the world. I noticed the many small pimple like bites mid stay and thought they were mosquito (unusual mosquito bites I thought) but when I got home I googled it and the bites are that of bed bugs. Bed bug bites can take a few days to manifest which makes the timeline correct.

Also other issues.

Room Space is tiny - don’t block the areas with a pointless record player and a clunky desk lamp.

Coffee cups - why - no coffee maker.

Wardrobe space is over the desk so if you have work to do, your jeans will be ticking your head.

Two tiny cupboards for clothes.

Breakfast is very basic.

Advertised that there was a bar, something I like in a hotel as like a nightcap in safe surroundings but the bar is permanently closed.

The area, although not appearing safe, is safe but those who are faint of heart probably won’t like the characters who hang around the area. Police station opposite which probably helps.

Nice little place, thoughtful extras.

Nice little place, well situated near the Metro. Cafes and shops close by for breakfast. Bar was 'closed' but plenty of other places around. Great bed (huge and comfortable) and shower (loved the shampoos and lotions). Only downside was noise carried through the rooms, TVs on and talking not how we wanted to wake up each morning. Area was safe (next to the Police station) would recommend for a few days.

My reservation was transferred to this hotel 1 day before my arrival in Athens, due to my original hotel cancelling and this one having availability.

When reading the reviews online, I did panic however the hotel surprised me in some ways.

The hotel is a ‘modern industrial’ style. I would probably never book somewhere like this to stay but I really loved how different it was to anywhere else that I’ve stayed.
The staff were all really lovely, they gave us some good recommendations for thins to do and a map of the city. They also held our bags for us on our day of check out.

Breakfast is good, there’s no hot food but what was on offer was good.

There’s a pool table which was great to use on an evening, and a roof terrace with a jacuzzi.

The main negative is the location. There are lots of homeless people and people on drugs around the hotel area which made it feel unsafe getting to and from the hotel. Though we felt perfectly fine when in the hotel. We ended up getting taxis when I was dark because it felt that unsafe.

If this hotel could be picked up and put in another location, I’d give us 4 stars.

Upon checking in i was told i was upgraded to a larger room, however once inside the room i did think it was very small with no space to walk around the side of the bed.

The staff at this hotel were all absolutely lovely and very helpful.

I would like to mention that the breakfast served at this hotel was way below my expectations, the donuts were hard, the salad options were minimal and there was little to no variety in options for anything else.. i did expect some warm food options such as bacon / eggs / sausage or even some pastries, however there was none of these unfortunately.

The location of the hotel itself is bang in the middle of a homeless area with many of them surrounding the hotel which doesn't feel too safe, especially when walking back to the hotel at night!

Aside from that, the stay was fine however I doubt i would consider staying at this hotel again.

The rooms are super small and the street outside is very up and coming. At night the street below was very noisy. The bathroom did not have any windows so not great for any ventilation. The pillows were very large or quickly deflating to flat. The staff was extremely amazing and gave wonderful recommendations-- this was the highlight of this hotel.

The photos look great on the Hotels.com app.
The hotel is good if you like noise and the elevator
is very small.
This hotel would work for maybe someone in their
early 20's but it's not a place to relax and enjoy.
The gym is not a gym by any means.
The front desk staff is nice but they can only
do so much.
The hotel is located in an area close to many
homeless and not-so-nice areas around.
Athens is a very dirty city

This property is super cool. The aesthetic is a vintage 1980s look, with a nod to the history of the building as the site of the Greek KKE (Greek Communist Party). Our room had a vinyl album player and a small selection of vinyl albums. The rooms are small but have everything you need, and for the reasonable price, it's worth it. Surrounding area has restaurants, shopping, some bakeries, and an easy (<5 minutes) walk to the metro. Highly recommended!

Great value hotel walking distance from the sights

This industrial-styled hotel has a really cool vibe, is a 20-30 min walk from the main sights of Athens, and is great value for money. The bed was comfy, if a bit of a weird circle shape rather than a normal bed. Free breakfast was perfectly adequate. Decent (small) gym. Cool seating areas and a pool table if you want to hang out in the evenings. All in all I would 100% recommend this hotel - especially for under-45s.

Really great stay in cool area for the price. A bit noisy at times and it's not a super tourist area which may be an issue for some people, but for me and my friends it was perfect! Walkable to loads of cool places and staff was always super helpful and friendly. Rooftop jacuzzi and access is really great view that allows you to take in the vastness of the city! Absolutely would stay again.

First impressions... the taxi driver told me the area was unsafe. That was a good start, but about the hotel..

Very warm welcome to this really unique and quirky hotel. Room was... interesting to say the least. Very close to the stairs and lift which wasn't great, try and get a room further away if you're a light sleeper.

On my last night I found out there was a wild party somewhere in the building (on the roof?) which went on until after 4AM with banging bass. That's always fun when you've got a full day of meetings the next day and a flight home !

Would I recommend it? If you like quirky unique hotels, yes. It's comfortable and not a bad area to be in despite what the taxi driver said (just be sensible with your belongings). Just that nightclub...

The location is great; it’s fairly close to the Omonia metro stop as well as cafes, shops, etc. We felt very safe walking around the area. The staff was polite, both front desk and housekeeping. They accommodated watching our luggage before check in. The room itself (king bed) was small, but fine. The shower was great, both water temp and pressure. The bed was comfy. The only downside was the A/C unit didn’t seem to match the thermostat; it would take a while for the small room to cool off, but the room never got noticeably cold. It helped to open the window at night.

The location of the hotel is really good in my opinion however even thought there isa police station right across the hotel, there were people doing drugs on the street right behind the hotel. It is not the best thing to see but that's pretty much why the hotel is a bargain at this price point.

There is only one - small elevator which is very inconvenient though the hotel was pretty empty during my visit so it wasn't that much of a problem.

This property is VERY unique. Housed in the former HQ of the Greek Communist Party, it has an industrial urban aesthetic which is very funky: bare concrete, metal partitions, wired glass bathrooms, etc. The staff is FANTASTIC and there is a nice bar/restaurant on the ground floor. There is always water and fruit available at reception.

The area around the property, however, is \"sketchy,\" full of homeless people, drug addicts (cooking their doses openly on the street), as well as prostitutes looking for Johns. The property is only one building from a main street (that does not have the characters listed above) and the main police station of the area is DIRECTLY across from the hotel, so actually it is possible to get to the property without anything happening.

The hotel was comfortable and stylish. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Love the history of the old building. About a 20 minute walk to Monastiraki Sqaure near the Acropolis. Roof top area with a spa is a highlight of the building. Would stay here again.

Fabulous!

No doubt there are heaps of reviews about how cool and chic this place is -- definitely so! Love the design and the vibe. But it's also equally important to cover the basics, and Dave excels here, too. Immaculately clean room and bath, quiet, great A/C, crisp white linens, lush bath towels, complimentary robes, and some marvelous, surprising amenities for you to discover. Also, a good location near Omonia Square and its Metro station, in a building with an interesting history, being the former headquarters of the Greek communist party. Overall, a fantastic place to stay! (Oh, and did I mention the mood lighting?!)

It has a hostel vibe more than a hotel (not necessarily negative). A cool budget option overall, but too small rooms if you have bigger luggage (had to lift them on top of the bed each time I needed something inside).
Why charge 1€ for a coffee capsule in the room?
Breakfast area is super cold in the morning and smells like cigarettes. Ok breakfast buffet.
The closest streets surrounding the hotel is rather shady..
