Overall it was a Nice place but the bed was too too hard. I asked for a blanket to put under the sheet and it was paper thin. Can’t wait to sleep in my own bed again.

Was a good location and the staff was very friendly, but my room was dirty and there were bugs crawling on the area where the coffee maker is as well as in the shower (which is really the whole bathroom). Thankfully I only had one day in Singapore so I was able to avoid the room except to sleep for 5 hours before my flight. Bed was comfortable and the staff was nice but I would not stay again due to the cleanliness. The property needs a refresh or update in my opinion.

The property is perfect for the budget conscious. It has a bed and bathroom and kettle for making your morning coffee.
We had booked an inside room and were upgraded to a room with a balcony. The balcony was enclosed on all sides by ten foot tall walls 😏😂

I stayed for more than 1 week, solo female traveller.

Needs Improvement - As to my room, needs to fix the hot shower. It does not get warm or hot even after 10mins of flowing water. Waste of water. Toilet is wet everywhere when you take shower. The facility seems also being used for 2-3hours stay for quickies.

Good points - Safe. As solo female traveller, I feel safe even if I return to hotel late night.
Service - with minimal interactions I had, their staff are helpful. Nearby Raffles City Mall and MRT.

Location good, but smoke odor too overwhelming

This is a very basic inn, as expected when booked. The location is good and right in the downtown Bugis shopping area, and not far from the Marina Bay. The shower area is shared with the toilet (without shower curtain partition) - not totally unexpected. This is advertised as a smoke-free hotel, but the smell of smoke was so overwhelming - the worst experience of any hotel stay I've had.

Overpriced, Tiny Room, With Weird Shower

My room was better suited for a monk than a world traveler, with the shower not separated in any way, causing me to hold the spray carefully so I didnt flood the room. Almost impossible.

That said, the staff was helpful, one even directing me to a nearby garage with pay laundry machines.

The area was good, near restaurants, a mall and metro. Plus, the famed Raffles hotel was only a 10 minute walk away. I'd missed seeing the hotel, undergoing a renovation when I was there 5 years ago.

Singapore is very expensive, so I was confused about the quality of what I was getting. Compared to other Asian hotels, I got much more quality elsewhere for similar prices.

If you don't mind Spartan living, this may be for you. But not for me.

Budget hotel even though its fairly pricey. Clean sheets but everything else in the room is tatty and worn. No window and smells damp. Tiny bathroom, you can sit on the toilet and have a shower which soaks everything in the bathroom.

Great location and friendly staff. The building is older, but that met my expectations given the price.

The reason for the poor review was the cleanliness of the room. There was dust on the desk, and handprints on the mirror.

Worse yet, there were numerous long hairs on the bathroom floor. It made me question if any cleaning at all was done, which made my stay pretty uncomfortable.

Hotel 81 Bugis, is an affordable alternative in a city of much pricier options. The hotel was clean and relatively quiet. The staff were professional and helpful no matter the time of day. The entire bathroom doubles as a shower, which was a first for me. The AC works wonderfully, sometimes too well, but it certainly beats the alternative in Singapore's hot climate. An electrical outlet nearer the bed would be nice. Easy to get to the metro too. I would certainly stay here again.

a really bad choice to book this place.

Oh man where do I begin? First of all that is a fraudulent claim this hotel was a SG Clean certified, this place was far from it, it was infested with ants, the vents were covered with black mold, causing my family to fall ill and get sick. They only give you 1 old fashioned room key which made it difficult if you have multiple people going in and out of the room, there were no shower, just a spray nozzle near the floor, which made the entire bathroom very wet and slippery and hazardous, surprised they haven't been sued yet. The hotel is in a prime location, but its far from clean and far from modern, do yourself a favor and do not book here.

There is no way this hotel is SG Clean. There was no official sign on the door like other SG Clean hotels have. There were drain flies in my bathroom and ants in the other room that my family were staying in. The vents are dirty. Mold all over the bathroom. The hotel needs updating badly. When you shower the water seeps out between the door jamb into the hall. The maids only change the sheets and towels, but don't clean anything else. The surfaces on furniture is all stained. Hand prints on the mirror. We had to stay the whole stay, because all nearby hotels were booked up due to an event so we were trapped.

Including Hotel 81 Bugis, I have tried 3 Hotel 81 hotels at different locations. For the room condition, none was satisfying. Talking about Hotel 81 Bugis, the room is dusty and mouldy at some places. Lumps of dust are visible at the edges of the wall art next to the bed. I wonder how can the hotel claimed to be SG Clean. Not clean for famiy stay especially with children. It is worth paying abit more for the 2 hotels near Hotel 81 Bugis. I will not consider Hotel 81 brand again.

We stayed in a window room for a few days. Was great for the price. No issues with the accomodation. Reception staff were helpful and friendly, leant us an umbrella in the rain, gave directions and called taxis etc as needed. Accomodation is good, next to a 7/11 and shopping centres, restaurants on the next street over. Would stay again.

I guess you get what you pay for

The rooms really need a dehumidifier. The a/c couldn’t be left on 24/7, so moisture formed on the floors and bedding. The room was also windowless.

Its ok to sleep for a night but more than that hell no, the room was super small no window, the bathroom the shower was almost on top of toilet super small and smell like mold, being singapore i was impressed of how bad it was. The only good thing was the location, thats it. On checkout we asked if they could call us a taxi because it was 6am and they said on counter to get it on the street, took us 15 mnts to get it since it was so early

I stayed here for 2 nights. The room was very small, the bathroom was extremely small. The shower was right next to the toilet so water would cover the toilet seat. The bathroom just didn't feel clean so I wore my sandals every time I went in. I wouldn't stay here again.

The room was a bit different from the picture that I saw from the website (no sofa in my room). The bed was not soft as I was imagine. AC was a bit of noise. I suggest that it might be better to change the glass for drinking in the room every day.

Every day, I got 2 bottles of water, so I didn't need to buy it. Deluxe Room size was right for two peoples, and the view from my room was great. I enjoyed to drink tea every morning and saw the panorama from my place. The location between Bugis and Suntec; thus, some of the buses stop near to the hotel. Good location.

The photo of this hotel in hotels.com is big different from the reality. quite mis-leading. I have to pay extra SGD 10/ night to upgrade to a better one with window but still disappointed me. Someone slam the door at mid-night or shout out boy friend's name on the corridor. Cannot sleep well.

However, those staffs there are nice and helpful. The air-conditioning is the best which keep you away from hot. Singapore always hot.

Location, as many other people states, is excellent. Very close to Bugis MRT, good food, and the national library. Also as stated before, rooms are small, very small. Bathrooms are quite cramped for an average size guy, so if you are larger, you might re-consider based on this alone. Price was also very high for what you got. For the same price I paid there, your room would be 3-4 times as big in the US, Europe, Indonesia, India, Cambodia, Malaysia, etc.; places I have been and know. Would I stay here again? Maybe yes, maybe no. I will definitely shoo around better next time. Staff was great though. The room size was really the only complaint.

Fast check in. Room is clean. Location is very near to Bugis shopping center. Friendly & helpful reception staffs. True that the toilet needs improvement due to no shower divider so causing the whole toilet floor wet after shower. The simple solution is to provide floor towel so we customer can dry our legs once we came out from toilet. That’s will solve (not all but mostly) this major complain from all that I saw from customer feedback. Thanks.

Horrible smell keeps you awake at night

Hey, the only thing good about this hotel is its prime location. The hotel isn't well kept and has aged. My room did not have a windows and when I stepped in it felt like no one ever stayed there for years. It has a humid and putrid smell, there was no fridge, no slippers provided. The toilet had a really bad smell like defecation... I could not sleep the first night due to the smell. The wall was not soundproof so late at night you could hear noisy neighbors talking so loudly.This is my worst hotel experience in over 30 years and it was not even cheap. Even a hostel feels better than this. I will never stay here ever again.

The location of the hotel is spot on and very convenient. Because the hotel doesn't have a window, the room is very stuffy. Also I can't turn off the air-con myself, can only be done by the hotel staff. I can only increase/decrease the temperature myself.

Highly recommend for traveller who looking for budget hotel to stay in singapore. The location of the hotel is surrounded by shopping mall, restaurant and hawker centre. Also the location can access to public transport like bus & MRT.

Convenient in location but room lacks amenities.

Although the hotel is conveniently located, the room leaves a lot to be desired. The bathroom is toilet and shower rolled into one, i.e. no shower stall. We could hear the noise from the corridors. But the hotel staff was flexible and allowed late checkout.

Over all it was ok. My husband pointed out there was bugs coming out of the restroom panel, which was moldy. Stayed in from 417. Also, no windows. Since we didn’t spend too much time in the hotel it was ok to just sleep and shower.

nice hotel close to train and malls

nice hotel walking distance to bugis mrt station, bugis junction and bugis street. Many malls within the vicinity. Many cheap food restaurants around it. the hotel is cleanand nice. the only negative is that the bathroom is very small. The bathroom doesn't have separation between toilet bowl and shower area.

But overall i'll recommend people to stay in it. a little pricey because it has a small room and bathroom. But it is in the great spot in bugis.

It is a nice and clean hotel near Bugis Junction. It is surrounded by many eating shops.There is MTR train stop at Bugis Junction which makes it easy to go anywhere in Singapore including to Changi airport. My family and I wish to give Mr Hanny a special mention as he was very kind and helpful in attending to our questions & needs.

Terrible Stay Avoid At all Cost

The hotel check in was smooth.
Hotel next building is undergoing renovation. Expect drilling noise from 9am to 6pm.
Bed mattress is hard as a brick. Bed sheet is rough to the skin.
No windows in room. Old, dirty. TV is mounted on an awkward angle. This is a hotel thats seem to be abandoned with no plans for future reno or upgrades. Other than a good location. It has NOTHING else.

We booked 3 nights here, at check in they did \"Upgrade\" our room so we had a Window! I guess most of the rooms here do not have windows!! We went to the room and its small that is fine but it was DIRTY!! Floors sticky, Mold and Bugs!!! The mold was so bad the first night we stay I became very sick the next morning we checked out! They did refund us for the 2 additional nights we had already paid for and where very apologetic about the room.
