We had a wonderful short stay at Raffles recently as part of a stopover in Singapore on our way to New Zealand.

We travelled as a family with our two small children (ages 2 and 6 months). We were a bit nervous about staying in such a nice hotel with the kids but the staff were extremely accommodating and we were able to check in early so we could all nap after our flight. The suites are easily big enough for a rollaway bed and a cot and Raffles even provides separate children’s bedding, towels and toiletries - it was very impressive and we felt very welcome.

We spent the second day by the pool, which is beautiful and immaculately kept. The staff at the pool bar are worth a special mention as they were particularly helpful, nothing was too much trouble and it never felt pretentious.

This really is a very special hotel, and we would recommend it to other families.

Our room wasn’t ready despite arriving at the check-in time. Waited an hour and felt forgotten and dismissed but the manager helped to finally resolve the issue.
Room was excellent and comfortable but very dark as small windows on ground floor of courtyard.
Breakfast was a joke. Staff look like they have no idea what they were doing. Took15 minutes to take get a coffee and half an hour to get someone’s attention just to order some cooked breakfast.
Overall, I think it’s an iconic hotel that is resting on it’s tourist reputation but not delivering anywhere near the standard that it should for the price point.
Generally a little disappointing for something that should have been such a special treat.

Raffles has been a dream for me for most of my life and I booked to celebrate my 60th birthday and WOW!,what a celebration. All the staff at Raffles make you feel welcome and extra special for the duration of your stay making you feel like you are the only guest in the hotel.

The hotel itself is breathtakingly beautiful and the rooms sumptuous - I honestly do not know how you could make any occasion more special

How fancy is raffles hotel? Well, it’s so fancy that if you’re in the front room, there are no less than 4 doors between you & the toilet! There’s a door between the sitting room & the bedroom, another between the bedroom & the closet area, a bathroom door, then a door to the toilet itself. When my girlfriend said she had to “go powder her nose,” I felt secure. With as much charm as I could muster I sweetly asked her to close all the doors. She shot back a look of cold malice, but with satisfaction, I heard her shut all of the doors. But after a few minutes, to my horror, wafted the most noxious odors. I’m sure my girlfriend won’t mind me, saying this, especially because she never reads these reviews. But if she does, darling, my computer has been hacked again. But seriously, if you’re going to spend a ridiculous amount of money on a hotel room, this is the place!

It’s an amazing hotel and staff were truly excellent!! That said, it’s a bit stuffy and not sure appropriate for anyone below the age 65. I would highly recommend it to anyone, but do keep in mind the rooms have no view, so they feel almost suffocating.

The only problem is the cost of drinks.
A manhattan in the Writers bar was $60.00 each and a miniature bottle of gin from the room mini bar was almost $90.00.
These are excessive charges and I would not buy any alcoholic beverages at Raffles.

From the time we arrived to the time we left it felt like home away from home.
The butler service provided was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble for them Yu(sp?) and Fitrah really did the hotel proud
The staff in Raffles Courtyard were lovely gentlemen also, particularly need to give Rai and Suren praise.
Nazir who conducted the free historical tour of the hotel was an amazingly knowledgeable gentleman, well worth taking the tour which lasted 2 hrs, and he apologised for over running on time.
Raffles is definitely the place to stay and would highly recommend it.

We stay for two nights and every single time entering the gate we got questioned that if we are staying at the hotel. No welcome words. Staff there pay no efforts to recognize their resident. Not friendly nor reliable.

On the second morning when we are going out and asking the concierge staff to help us to grab a taxi she suggested us to just stop one outside the gate. Though I insisted she call for us and told her our destination. But when we got off the vehicle we found out that the driver toke us to a wrong place…

And no amenities are refilled by the housekeeping thus when I need to use the cotton bud after shower I have to call the front desk and wait for another 20 minutes for it to be delivered.

And… never mentioned the butler, who never showed up during our stay. Though the staff helped us upon our check-in told us that the butler will come to the room to greet us later. But it turns out that no one came. Even our welcome drinks are not served until the night before our departure.
As I already felt uncomfortable and unacceptable at that moment I complained about the butler service to the staff who brought our drinks to room. However till next morning we checked-out and left, we never got any apology or explanation about this.

Absolutely a disappointment and the worst part of our travel to Singapore this time. Will never go back again.

It’s beautiful, it’s grand, the staff is wonderful, there is unpretentious grandeur, there is history, there’s Tiffin, yes, there is Tiffin, there is…..I don’t know, it’s just perfect, absolutely perfect: we’re going back. And then this: we had forgotten to return our room keys at the end of our stay; on our way back through Singapore, we took a stroll through the area of the Raffles and decided to return our keys. The staff at the entrance greeted us with a smile and told us we shouldn’t have worried, that we could keep our key as a souvenir if we wished. And then he proceeded to get for us an old room key, from the days before the electronic versions: so now I have two sets of keys as souvenirs from the world’s absolute best hotel….we’re absolutely going back…

Raffles Hotel staff deliver flawless service in the most beautiful hotel. Amenities provided are high quality and everything is extremely lovely. This is by far the best hotel we have stayed in. Including my husband who has spent approx 12 years of nights staying in hotels during the last 25 years all over the world. We have stayed at Raffles twice this year with covid restrictions limiting our travel plans. We will definitely return again!

A spectacular hotel to enjoy. Our suite is gorgeous with a separate lounge area, a 4 poster bed in the bedroom and a huge bathroom with separate rooms for the toilet and shower. The marble, classic dark furnishings and attention to detail give the room beautiful colonial charm. Staff greeted us by name on arrival and escorted us to our suite where our bags awaited us (we checked in on line and our bags were dropped off ahead of our arrival). A wonderful welcome and a beautiful suite, which is very quiet due to double glazing, gave us a perfect welcome for our stay.

A special place steeped in historic. Recently renovated so everywhere feels new and fresh. Arrival into the grand lobby is exciting. Our studio suite was big and clean, the bathroom luxurious. An Ipad drives the amenities in your suite, lights curtains, temperature, TV and butler. The Triffin Room food and breakfast was delicious but the room service is only until 10pm. All staff were friendly and most were helpful, some lacked basic knowledge of services and timings expected in a five star establishment. At times it can feel overly regimented but this may be caused by COVID rather than the hotel rules. The hotel is very central and convenient close to shops and restaurants with in-house eateries as well. A small but adequate gym and delightful roof pool and bar.

A bit disappointing as we didn’t get our room till 4.30pm although check-in was said to be 12noon.
A bit of misses here and there in terms of service and guest management resulting in confusion. For being such a high quality hotel, there are definitely room for improvement in those areas.

We did however get compensated for the check in delay.

Apart from these mishaps, we did have a great stay. The hotels bartender/butler service was amazing and the rooms are beautiful with excellent comfort.

newly renovated. it is too high tech. we need to use the iPad for almost everything. very stressful. unfortunate because we are going to relax.
the tiffin room staff are very inexperienced and forgetful of the orders.
the new breakfast system is not easy to use. we order something hot and then we must cater to ourselves. we expect full service from an hotel such as Raffles.
the writers bar is completely new and we miss the atmosphere of the old bar.

My mother and I stayed just before the closure for refurbishment and only the East Wing and Billiard room were open. This didn’t bother us at all because it meant we could stay in a Balcony suite. The suite itself was lovely and we had a double bed each and separate bathroom and dressing room which made getting ready much quicker. On arrival we were greeted by very friendly staff who explained everything and we were taken to the suite where our bags and a welcome Singapore Sling were waiting for us
The suite was always super cool and quiet after a long day sightseeing and the beds were so comfortable.
The butler service was always prompt and we had plenty of complementary fruit, water, coffee and milk
On the first day we asked for a dinner recommendation and the reception recommended a Hawker bar on the Marina bay which meant we ate fantastic food and could watch the Marina Bay Sands light show
On the last day we settled our bill and the reception arranged for complementary Singapore Slings just before we left which was a lovely gift
Our only criticism is that the door staff never smiled or acknowledged us on exit and entry in spite of us trying desperately to engage them. The only contact we had was when the taxi driver told them to carry our bags to the taxi and then the doorman begrudgingly wheeled them over. We made a joke of it and wondered if it was on purpose to be aloof. Every single other staff member always smiled and said hello.

Raffles under renovation

Did not know the hotel was under renovation prior to arrival. This detracted from the experience as many of the facilities were not available.
Having said the my room was not unduly affected by renovation noise.
Room was Personality room named after Radyard Kipling and was so theamed.
While a little tired was clean and comfortable.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Spoke to you by name. Very nice.
Would stay again. Hope the renovation does cause the hotel to lose its old world charm

From the time of arrival to departure, you are truly pampered at this hotel. The staff is attentive and very helpful and polite.it was interesting to have your assigned butler who really looked after your requests and helped to arrange things for you. We enjoyed the old charm of this hotel. Having a Singapore sling in the hotel that created it is also a must experience. Breakfast is very good and complete. A very positive experience.

Why settle for run of the mill 5 star rated hotels, when you can stay at The Raffles which is rich in history and maintaining the civilities of another era. The accommodation is more suites than rooms, with a sitting room for extra comfort off the main bedroom featuring comfortable twin queen beds, with richly appointed bedding. The bathroom was well apportioned and had all toiletries needed. The rooftop pool made for a relaxing time with a bar and staff on hand to assist with any requests. Breakfast was included, with many food options including Asian and Western breakfast.

What can I say, iconic, opulent, truly lives up to the reputation. From the champagne welcome at check in to the butler service in the courtyard suite, I can find no fault in any aspect of the property or service.
The staff take the trouble to address you by name at every opportunity and even though the hotel is undergoing a renovation (which sadly meant the long bar was not open) disruption appears to be non existent and at no point did I hear a whisper of building noise.
Afternoon tea was everything you'd expect and more and dinner in the grill room, although a little pricey was sublime!
I would definitely stay here again, loved every minute.

An incredible experience

Raffles is an incredible experience. It is not only a beautiful historic hotel, but very comfortable in every way. The staff is wonderful. This is one hotel you won't want to leave. Raffles is the the greatest hotel I have ever had the pleasure of visiting.
