Very nice room, splendid view to the sea, good service from everybody, 3 restaurants to choose from with good food. Unfortunately, the hotel is blocking all VPNs and even the iCloud, so the iPhone and iPad cannot synchronize. Why would a hotel feel it necessary to block iCloud and VPNs? To spy on guests…???

We booked the junior suite at the Strand Hotel at the last minute through Expedia after we decided to travel to the Skeleton Coast on a whim. Don’t miss this hotel! It was worth every penny. The accommodation and service are 5 star! The breakfast selection is not to be beat. There are many dining options on and off property. The concierge recommended a guided tour of Sandwich Harbour, booked the tour for us and set up transportation. It was phenomenal! The massage at the spa was fantastic. The room with a balcony view of the ocean was stunning. No detail is missed at The Strand Hotel. I highly recommend it!

On our 2 dining experiences the noise level by the drunken patrons from East Asia was unbearable. It ruined our ability to have a quiet dinners where we could have meaningful conversations. I would not eat there again. See rating for staff and service. The rating was heavily influenced by the loud patrons.

Love the hotel and the city! Only complaint is all of the aggressive street peddlers that approach as soon as you step off of the property. The hotel needs to do something about this. I was interested in browsing the craft market during our 4 night stay, but the peddlers made us steer clear of the area.

The hotel was spectacular. I was hesitant about the price, as we are generally low-key travelers that enjoy the basics in life. However, the food, service, and property conditions made everything easy, enjoyable, and convenient. The treat of the accommodation was worth every penny. We stayed four nights after trekking through Namibia.
Parking availability is a big factor that we chose this property, which did not disappoint. The restaurants were excellent, the breakfast provided every possible food option, and hot water was available continuously (no staggering showers for the family). Catering to comforts of an international clientele was definitely well thought out.
From our room, we could see the daily visits from dolphins in the lagoon, which was an unexpected treat! The water was freezing, but our daughter still enjoyed a wonderful day at the beach in winter! Overall, an upscale, safe, and convenient location for all of our travels in the area.

TV and lights turned on and off at the same time every night waking us up. We spoke with management and asked to change rooms and they said they would have someone go and fix the problem but they never did. It was off-season and the hotel seemed like it had plenty of vacant rooms. Bottom line, 3 nights in a row with little sleep. Do not recommend!

Very nice hotel overall. The rooms we had were a bit worn but still quite nice. The public areas were also very nice and in good repair. But where The Strand shined is the staff. Everyone from drive-up to drive away was so very nice. A special shout out to Zena, Thank You for everything. Overall we had a delightful stay and will stay again when we are back in Swakopmund.

Nice modern hotel, plenty of space in the room and at a wonderful spot right at the beach. Friendly staff. Everything was great except two (minor things). I had hair in the shower and the sink from the guest before me and the service in main Restaurant was once very unattentive. After 25min of no service I left (there were only 3 tables occupied).

A lovely hotel located right on the water. Beautiful, large rooms, great restaurants and within walking distance to the main street and beach. My only comment is that I wish the onsite restaurants did not use so much so single-use plastic unnecessarily. Ie. Butter, water and draws.

Location and very comfortable bed. The restaurant services need improving, and the breakfast area needs to look cleaner. I sat at a table for breakfast and then realized that there was food under my feet and had to change my table. However, when I pointed that out to the staff, no one made an attempt to clean the floor.

We arrived from South Africa with the normal complement of 2 large suitcases and 2 smaller suitcases and the really was insufficient room. We had ordered a deluxe room and expected more.

Initially we found the reception staff and one in particular rather offhand but a lady member of that staff in particular went to a great deal of effort to arrange a trip to Sandwich Bay and that was very much appreciated.

We felt the reception staff must be overworked as they seemed unable to ever answer the telephone when we called from our room without either a lengthy delay or no answer at all. It was usually quicker to call room service and for them to find someone but it was not room service we required

The Strand Hotel is well situated in Swakopmund. It was easy to walk to nearby coffee shops and restaurants, as well as a grocery store. This is also a beach right outside for those who wish to spend a few hours relaxing by the ocean.

The hotel staff were friendly and facilitated an early check in, which was greatly appreciated.

The restaurants at the hotel had friendly wait staff and the food was good (nothing to rave about, but nothing to complain about). However, the service was often slow especially when it came time to settle the bill.

Strand Hotel Excellence

The check-in took more than an hour, and the a smaller room than actually booked was allocated. The room, however met our expectations in all other regards. Of special mentioning is the superb shower. The breakfast was unbelievable and worth returning for. All staff was friendly and made us feel at home. The hotel is located in the best position with easy access to good dining and coffee shops. Swakop is a clean town with friendly people.

Lovely hotel but let down by staff. We were tired and hot and just wanted to get to our room but check in was complicated and tedious. Our room was no comfort at nearly 30 degrees. The a/c could not cope and should have been turned on before our arrival. Even worse, we had specified two beds but got one and when we left the room in order for them to rectify the situation they turned the a/c off again. We had a sweltering night. Apart from that the hotel was ok. Good car park, two good relatively inexpensive restaurants, good location easy to find

More of a business hotel

Booked this hotel well before it was open for our honeymoon but this is more of a business hotel. It's beautifully designed but not the place to be to relax for a couple of days. Whilst there is a great spa and plenty of restaurants and bars to pick from, the one thing that is lacking is a swimming pool! Apparently lots of guests have said the same. We asked for towels to use the adjacent beach (as it turns out the private beach area is seating associated with one of the cafes) - we were told we should have brought our own! This is a four star hotel on a beach - so were totally surprised. Dissapointed with our suite too which although it did have a beach and sea view we mostly saw car park. We did get moved but after a lot of hassle and then the room was lacking things it was meant to have (like seats for the supposed sit on balcony). Suites felt cramped with all the furniture in there and superfluous cushions everywhere. Location is good for the beach - but bring your own towels!!!

Tolles Personal, das einem jeden Wunsch erfüllt

Tolle Lage direkt am Meer, super freundliches Personal, das einem bei jedem Problem geholfen hat, leckeres Essen mit großer Auswahl in verschiedenen Restaurants.
Die Zimmer waren sehr schön und sauber, wenn auch zu dritt recht klein, aber für uns ausreichend.
Insgesamt haben wir eine wunderbare und erholsame Zeit in Swakopmund verbracht.

Neues Hotel mit Kinken

Das Hotel ist sehr neu und schön. Wenn man im Hotel ist, weiß man gar nicht, dass man in Afrika ist (leider). Es ist wie ein Hotel in Norddeutschland an der Küste.
Das Personal kümmert sich gerne auch mal um sich selbst, die Klimaanlage wurde in 3 Tagen nicht repariert, die Badewanne in unserer Suite konnte nur mit Heißwasser befüllt werden (Kaltwasser funktionierte für die Badewanne nicht). Der Ausblick ist herrlich, wenn man Meerblick bucht. Das Zimmer ist allerdings wichtig: man kann Pech haben und Blick über dem vielbenutzten Parkplatz haben. Ansonsten sind die anderen Zimmer ruhiger, bis früh morgens, wenn die deutschen Rentner ihre Schwimmrunden im Wasser vor dem Hotel ableisten und dabei lautstark von Ihrer langen Nacht oder Ihren Gebrechen reden... Fazit: wer einen tiefen Schlaf hat, die ein oder andere Sache trotz Vollbezahlung akzeptiert, kann im Strand Hotel einen netten Aufenthalt haben...
