The bed was nice. I had a bathtub which I love baths. I had to ship something. By DHL and the gentleman at the front desk was so helpful.
The forms the DHL sent I had to print out and fill out and have two copies he did that for me and he also made the copies.
The breakfast was really good too

The location is the main asset. Easily accessible and nice neighborhood. Food courts nearby for meals.
The cleanliness was average. The only amenities were soap, toothbrushes and shower caps. Though we booked for 4 we had only 3 large towels each day. No face towels.
The shower was leaking but they came and fixed it when we asked. There was also a power problem with the safe.

Nice, I could consider stay here again

I really enjoy this hotel. It was perfect for me traveling solo. Near the train and in a convenient location.

Minor hiccups. The day of arrival ~9pm, my unit had a broken AC. Couldn't do much, until next morning. It got fixed by 11am, but couldn't believe how important AC is here.

The room is exactly like in the pictures. Spacious.

One thing the unit did not have a air extractor that can stay longer than the time you are in the shower or in the unit. There is no ability to open windows either. So, it is very noticeable the mold growing in the windows.

One other thing that was uncomfortable, I am 5.1\" and the bathtub in this room is insanely high! I was scared of slipping off on my way out.

Other than that, pleasant stay spacious unit for two friends and with our own private bathroom.

Our bathroom floor constantly had water lying on it from a leak.
lift was inadequate for number of guests.
The breakfast was of low standard. The staff were very helpful but the food kept running out and there was a very narrow range of options.

Thje offered internet access in UNENCRYPTED, the unsecurest kinbf of internet access possible!
Securing it via a password entered on a webpage, does not make it secure!
The window isn't openable, but in the evening one hears bordering rooftop bars.
If one is a light sleeper, he should have ear plugs.

Very accessible to MRT but still I won't stay at this hotel .
Carpet on the hallways so filthy . It smells and has stains .
Food for breakfast is terrible . For our 5 Nights of stay, food is bland and the menu is the same . Had breakfast at 8:30 and by that time food is gone. They don't replenish the trays.
Room gets warm in the early morning.

The best I can give is good at best.

The room in the picture isn't the room we stayed in, we had a King Size Bed. For two nights it's smelled as someone was smoking near us, no smoke detectors installed, only fire protection. Room was in need of repair, see attached photo. Airport Shuttle service is having the Hotel call for Taxi service, misleading information. Breakfast, better off not taking advantage of the Hotel offer.

Great hotel for more than 2 people and excellent location. My sister and her 3 children (ages 17, 14, 11), 4 of them were able to fit ok in the triple room. The bedding was good for this purpose.
The hotel's amenities is not top notch, bathroom vent is quite loud and the blinds played up a bit. But we weren't in the room much of the day so it served its purpose for sleeping only. At night it can be a bit noisy as there's a bar/club somewhere near the building. However, I didn't mind it because there's 3 different MRT around that makes it very easy to travel around Singapore.
Also, please be aware they do not have laundry facilities only laundry service. If you want to wash your own clothes I would recommend walking to Victoria Hotel, less than 10mins walk. They have a coin operating washing machine and dryer there that's open to the public.

Initially we were given room 711. Felt body itchy all over and realised there are bed bugs. Requested change of room and thankfully there was but twin sharing. Don't really care much so long I don't get bitten again. Room 302 was much bigger than the previous room but the mattress wasn't spine support friendly. Didn't sleep well during my two nights there. Room was really small. Wall half painted and interior wasn't that inviting unlike what was shown as advertised. No box of tissue provided. Basic toiletries but no holder for the mini soap bar at the basin. Room has a damp smell. Now coming to the breakfast part, nevermind the fact we use disposables but breakfast was so so. The fried kway teow and fried rice ok. But not for the noodle that goes with the spaghetti sauce. Has a rubbery feel. It's not really pasta noodle. saw a lot of plates with the noodles leftover. Please serve bread in future. With eggs, butter, jam to go along with. You can't go wrong with that. At least any leftover bread, you can still keep for the next day or make into french toast. In this way, wastage can be significantly reduced. Also beverages provided is only confined to 3in 1 coffee or tea. Surely no harm in providing more variety like plain coffee or tea right? Will not stay in this hotel. Believe there are better ones in the vicinity like Hotel Mi, Bencoolen 30, Strand, etc.

Satisfied with mini staycation

The kettle in our room was rusty, and the staff changed it immediately. Fast response! The staff also arrange for the maintenance department to adjust the air-conditioning in our room. Furnishings were a bit old but clean, no bugs no insects nothing. Buffet breakfast wasn't a lot of choice, but still not too bad. Location is good and convenient. Overall I am satisfied with my mini staycation and will not hesitate to choose this hotel again.

The staff are fantastic - friendly, helpful and cheerful. It is clean and has everything one needs. The location is excellent, walkable to a lot of popular areas and stations near. Plenty of buses along the street too. Lots of campuses around so lots of cheap eating spots but plenty of upper market restaurants too with a variety of cuisines to choose from. In short, would thoroughly recommend Hotel Bencoolen.

I’m so disappointed in the lack of cleanliness at this hotel. My daughter found an old tube of medicine, someone else’s slipper, and a SIM card… along with TONS of dust under the best. Carpets stains in the hallway. Bathroom is dingy. Bedding stained and tattered. Windows hadn’t been cleaned in months maybe? Algae all over the windows and paint peeling in multiple areas. The staff were very kind and hospitable but the condition of the hotel was very low quality and unclean.

Disappointing for Singapore

The hotel reception staff were lovely but the room was damp mould on ceilings and bathroom needed a good clean as did the pool area green mould. It looked like it hasnt been cared for at all very rundown. Area is fine across the road from MRT close to Chinatown Little India etc. We have stayed in Singapore a no.of times before and had always been pleased with the high standards of hotels before.

Bad sleep due to noise from below

Generally room itself was all ok, the downside is that the noise from below is still very much heard from level 6 where we stayed.

As it was a saturday night, there's a crowd at the street level dining, drinking and chatting. And their chatting and laughter up till 3plus am kept the family unrested. Kids and the adults were dead tired the following day.

This hotel deserves an extra 1/2 star above its 3 star rating. The room I had was spacious and well maintained. The locked door connecting the opposing room was not thick or soundproofed enough as I can hear the other family enjoying their staycation over the extra long weekend holiday. Not a major issue to me though but the lukewarm hotwater was (seems to be a recurring issue in other star hotels I've stayed around here recently) Staff was attentive although a bit stretched as they appeared slightly understaffed. Did not have the chance to check out the pool but will consider coming back to this hotel again.

air con at lobby not working. the lift is very rundown. when i reached my level, the mouldy carpet smelly is strong. the moment i opened the room door, i see a very old and rundown toilet, small wall tiles, grouting are badly done. although the toilet is clean, but the old and rundown feel makes it very uncomfortable. bed was horrible. its spring bed. so its not firm and the pillows were all very soft. the bed cover is not white, but light greyish in comparison with the bed cover. window is facing the other building wall. i checked out after 10hours. my back ache from the bed.

the only good about this place, the receptionist is very well manner and responsive. other than this, its time to upgrade the hotel please.

I know these are COVID-19 times, but I would like to be informed before I check in to a hotel if it is used for healthcare workers dealing with COVID-19. Secondly, the cleaning service is very bad. Only every second or third day. Lastly, I had very noisy neighbours (which of cause is not the fault of the hotel), but overall not a good experience. Location of hotel is good though.

Very good location of the hotel, good reception customer service, unfortunately the low price matches the conditions - there was mold in the bathroom, very very noisy as the cleaning ladies were yelling and laughing out loud every morning, despite our complaints. Very small pool, no view from the 3rd floor, lots of drain flies on the walls...unfortunately would not recommend and would never stay there again!

1) Dirty - Bathrooms with dirty/spoiled hardware strewn around (bathtub stopper, plastic nozzles). Musky smelling towels. Dirty Carpets. Dirty linen made us get all itchy and got bitten by something - after a week the swell is still there

2) Gave away our room to someone else after we arrived one-day late for check-in. We paid 4 nights in advance and only was late for 1 day. Did not have the courtesy to call us to check if we're coming, just take for granted we will not turn up. Gave us an \"upgrade\" but we had to check out/move rooms in the morning when we were rushing to go to our appointment.

3) NO Extra Towels! Towels were musky so after using the first one, I decided to swap to the 2nd dry towel (which turned out to be musky as well). Requested for another one as my partner had to shower. They did not have any left! Asked us to go get one from the pool ourselves. Turns out pool towels were faded green colour with bleached out patches. Gross

4) Only 1 access card, and need that card to activate power in the room. So when my partner went to get the said pool towels, i was awaiting pitch dark in the room.

5) WIFI was not working when we arrived and receptionist curtly told us \"dont know when will get fixed\". Did not even bother to inform us when we checked in - just gave us the WIFI password chit. Fortunately it was fixed after several hours.

Cannot believe Singapore can have a bad hotel like this! What a shame!

Mr Mohammed was very helpful and friendly. He allowed us to use the showers at the pool before our check in time as we arrived very early. He also allowed us to leave our things at storage until check in time. The hotel let us check in 2 hours early as our room was ready.
The room was small for 3 people and not much room to move around and not able to open the suitcase at the same time and not much storage. No full length mirror!
The room was tired looking and the place could do with a refurbishment.
My room was awfully noisey due to a big generator right outside my window and a loud air con making it difficult to sleep.
The view I had was of a brick wall.
Overall did the job of a room to sleep in at night.
The reception staff were dull

Hotel is old. Carpets in both rooms dirty. The first room had stained carpet and garbage around the garbage can, hair in the bathtub. I called down and the front desk came up to “investigate” the room. She took pictures and gave us another room. The other room wasn’t much better. The carpets look and felt dirty. The caulking around the tub was spotted with mold, the tiles in the shower had mole in the grout even the shower curtain had mold. The towels were well worn and grey. The room itself smelt musty.

Don’t stay at this hotel. The hotel needs to CLEAN, the only good things are the hotel is across the street from the MRT, the bell staff were very friendly.

The location of this hotel is good, where is it near to the MRT station. The hotel lobby also nicely renovated. However, you can tell that the condition is the room is a bit rundown. The aircond blow directly towards the bed, which made me unable to sleep. The power socket also designed and placed at weird location. My room is next to the staff service room, was quite noisy throughout as the services ladies keep talking loudly outside. They have small gym and pool.

Superb location close to Bencoolen and Dhoby Ghaut MRT. Taxi stand is right in front of it. At night the street nearby is full of hawker food stalls.

Uncles at the front desk are very generous with helping, from storing bags to recommending foods.

Room is decent-sized with amenities, good coffee and milk tea. Cleanliness can be improved. Wifi is provided for up to 6 devices, which is sufficient.

Overall recommended.

Hotel is in excellent location. Very low standard as per other hotels we have been in Singapore. We were told we got superior room upgraded but it was dark and tiny and view was on building wall. It was clean overall however bathroom was a nightmare! No hot water to start with then bath was blocked so took ages to get rid of water stared over flow on the floor so we couldn’t really use it properly. It was only one coffee and one tea and room was for two people twin. I think hotel can improve the service however staff was lovely and very polite

Booked a deluxe king bed room for 4d3n, given the room but the bed comes with queen size comforter.
Requested for king size comforter on the same night of check in but not available due to housekeeping dept closed. Given a comforter cover as an additional while waiting for the next day.
The next day, it was not changed at all. Called Front Desk and requested for it again. The front desk officer replied very rudely and said its due to fully booked situation, everything they do not have sufficient for the guests and asked me to accomodate. This is not my problem and you are supposed to help me to resolve this. There are few things that you guys can do to improve it when you know its a peak season instead of asking guests to accommodate the hotel shortage.

Carpet was not vacuum and I do not know what is the service standard given to the housekeeping team.

This is my first time staying in this hotel and I do not recommend to stay in this hotel although the location is good due to the poor housekeeping and also customer service.

The check in service is poor. When we check in the hotel at around 12 midnight, the reception girl keep on asking what is the address of the hotel that we are suppose to check in. The attitude is bad and we are disappointed the moment we step into the hotel. It’s an unpleasant experience.

Sad old hotel.

We arrived at Hotel at 1.30am as we had a late flight night before and they refused to clean our room later that day as according to their records we had only arrived that day even tho we had paid for previous night. We did eventually manage to get clean towels after arguing the point with them. The night staff were rude and most unhelpful. No power points worked on arrival and were told by night staff to sort any problems out the next day. It was sorted next morning by one of the very helpful staff members. The 2 older men on service desk were absolutely wonderful and couldn’t do enough for us. The Hotel is very old and very tiny rooms. Toilet seat was broken so slipped off all the time. The bath had all the bottom enamel peeling off and it was very sharp and rusty so had to be careful not to cut yourself in shower. Certainly could not have a bath in it. Better hotels around for the price.

Cannot find aircon control inside the room. The night was freezing and have to boil water all night. Wifi reception was also not strong. I have to use my own mobile data.

Very central place. Our room on the 6th floor was nice and quiet. The breakfast (s$12 extra) was convenient and of reasonable quality. Best thing was that we could check in even though we arrived very early (9.30am) after a long flight from London. Not so great was that the double bed came with just a single duvet in the cover, leaving one person exposed to the draft of the air-conditioning, covered in just a thin sheet. Switching the airco off was not an option as it then gets too hot and setting the airco to a higher temperature seemed to have no effect on the amount off cold air it blasts out.

The location was superb it was close to most things via taxi and the MRT station is pretty much across the road. However, the hotel had a funky smell when you first walk in probably from he lack of ventilation from their onsite restaurant. Furthermore, it was older than expectected thus things such as the toilet seat seems quite worn. Despite, the daily room service cleaning/ tidy up the hotel room did not feel as clean as I expected. If you’re on a budget and only need a place to rest then go for it, however if you want something more comfortable then maybe splurge a little more and opt for their newer hotel across the road.
