Couldn’t fault the staff or the property, restaurant booking was difficult and frustrating, menus limited. Pool areas lovely, as was the room. The worst thing however were entitled rude guests, I feel for the poor staff having to deal with them. Just because you have a bit of money to afford nice places doesn’t mean you have to behave badly! One particular woman needed a personality transplant, all she did was moan and walk around with a miserable face!!

So as an overall, we think the hotel is very nice. The setting, swimming pool, facilities are good. The reason why we only gave it 3/5 stars is because I think there are a few things lacking. Our stay includes the breakfast, the variety is good but the quality could be better. Some things were good but others like the sausages and bacon are not of great quality. The other thing is that the staff are not that well train, some were good and others pretty bad. the cleaning of the rooms are generally not very clean. The hotel has a lot of potential and if they get the staff more well trained overall and improve the food quality then it would be much better. Although we went to oasis restaurant, the food was very good

The room cleaning was a bit average. After cleaning each day, floors are still dirty. Noticed they don’t hoover but instead uses a mop which looks rather dirty. After clean, floors still makes my feet dirty. Breakfast has good variety but quality not great but overall ok.
Staff not trained well, some are good but general saying hi when they see you not always the case. Staff doesn’t always know things and answer your questions.

Overall I would rate this property at 3.5 stars. Unfortunately, my wife and I were not overly impressed with a property condition, restaurants variety including table reservation system, lack of personal touch in terms of service, room location, limited options in terms of entertainment, level of prices. Having said that, location is perfect, front desk staff were very helpful.

I have just returned from a 5 night winter break here. I have travelled extensively but this hotel is up there with some of the best i have stayed in, certainly in Europe.
The staff were all extremely polite friendly and professional.
The pools and grounds were beautiful, but the town outside tge horel was very limited.
We decided to upgrade to all inclusive on arrival which i would recommend due to the local town being limited for dining options.
The dining on offer at the hotel was absolutely great and i couldnt fault it at all.

The roon was spacious and clean but a little tired looking.

I would have expected more minibqr items to be included with AI. The hitel is expensive but tge quality was spot on.

We had the most relaxing lovely holiday

The food was very average at best - except the nachos which were good! even the non buffet restaurants were average rather than amazing. Food was very bland.
Staff were ok some lovely but most just doing their job. Often a wait to be seated
Sustainability was not really featured as a priority which I would expect of any 4 star hotel in 2025.
On the last night we found 2 huge cockroaches in our room- the response was to blame the near by banana plantation! We got a second room to sleep in but we had to suggest that…
No compensation was offered.
The music was awful
The sun loungers were old and super basic with no lower angle as an option so seated or flat.
The service around the adult pool was patchy
On the up side it is aesthetically beautiful the spa was nice, and the weather was beautiful.

Amazing Food in a beautiful setting

A return trip to a beautiful hotel, food is amazing and location for me to enjoy the peace and lovely scenic walks is great! I enjoyed the varied sports programme with excellent Pilates and yoga sessions daily !
The staff were all so friendly and welcoming making it a very enjoyable week in the sun for me

Amazing hotel. Incredible pools and views. Would recommend. The heated family pool was very cold, but after guests raised their concerns it was eventually resolved. The staff did their best to support us and accommodate us. Can’t thank them enough for helping to make it special.

Stay clear - it all looks amazing from the outside and also the inside but the food in all restaurants is inedible - frozen / not fresh / awful awful food - my family didn’t eat all week we survived on crisps and chocolate bars and just about the breakfast was ok. Definitely not a 5 star hotel - if you have heard the saying champagne lifestyle lemonade pockets then this sums up the gran Melia.

I really liked this resort. We treated ourself to this 5 star hotel for our anniversary. They have an incredible pool, the biggest salty water pool in Europe and the Spa massage made me fly. The location itself is stunning and it's 30 seconds walk from the ocean. The staff has always been helpful and kind whenever we asked for something. Dream place and you feel like a king/queen.

What could have improved:
Big hiccup when we checked in. The reception OFFERED us a vip plan (red level) as a special thing for our anniversary, but the dream crushed when they presented me the price that was double what I already paid in my reservation. When I asked what was included with it, again lack of clarity in the explanation. I was in the end convinced to upgrade because it was deemed as sooo much better, but then when I realised that it was just a better room, jacuzzi, some kids free areas and more exclusive restaurants (that you have to pay separately) we knew it was not for us and we asked to downgrade (all this took 2h where we did not have a room yet). In that moment I wanted to give 1 star for that service.
I give 4 stars overall as all the other staff members did their best to help us and make our stay a positive experience so 5 stars to them. Special mentions to Dieny and Mathias, super friendly and professional, who went over and beyond. Another inconvenience was that our room had a panel coming off above the bed that was full of dust behind. We changed room in the end.

Just had a great week at this hotel - beautiful hotel with a great view.

Entertainment was spot on with something different every night, which really bought everyone together.

The areas around the hotel has some lovely chilled areas with the most comfortable seating and incredible views.

We paid for the all inclusive package, which isnt cheap - however so many rules and regulations around this made this painful and meant we needed to think about what we can and cant do (not what you want to be doing whilst on holiday).

All inclusive stopped at 11pm, yet the Entertainment continued until 11.30, so almost ensuring you are paying for drinks at this point (including soft drinks and water!)

Booking the al a cart restaurants was painful and needed to be done at 5pm every day on an app. Which required support from staff. Can only booked for 2 days ahead, so again causing a bit of inconvenience.

When in the al a carte, the food was incredible, however to be told that we couldnt order particular items from the menu in the asian was a bit of a downer due to the volume of food we were ordering. (Even when we offered to pay for these items, not included on all inclusive).

This was just some of the experiences when it came to the service around food & drink and i dont think you can market this as all inclusive, which is a real shame.

If you are looking for a quiet chilled week in the sun, this is your place, however be aware of some of the above.

You need to be prepared to queue for meals which can be very frustrating. First time I have experienced this and could see this was especially frustrating for young families. Poolside snack restaurants you should expect to wait for 30 - 40 minutes. The standard of food was generally high although kid options were limited and often chips were cold. The al la carte restaurants (if they could be booked) the food was not as good as the buffet.
There is no pool side service for drinks which meant a long walk to the one poolside bar (who refuse to provide trays). The hotel grounds were pleasant and there were plenty of available sun lounges around the adult pool. The gym although small had a good selection of equipment. The spa was nice. Location of the hotel not great - no local amenities and a taxi to the main resort costs around 40 EURs one way. Certainly not a five star experience but suspect its one of the better hotels on the island (from what I could see).

A lovely resort but if you did want to eat in the non-buffet restaurants in the evening it is challenging to book! However there are some really lovely local restaurants serving delicious food in the town - just a short walk away.

It is surprising that a 5 star resort doesn’t offer complimentary water for guests in the room. Or offer water fountains around the resort to ensure that guests stay hydrated.

However the resort is lovely.

Another lovely stay in Gran Melia. A welcome drink was offered on arrival which was greatly appreciated after a long day of travelling. We enjoyed a fabulous breakfast every morning in the beautiful plaza. We were made feel very welcome by all hotel staff. Every visit we enjoy the evening entertainment. Room has everthing you need and very comfortable bed. The only negative - please consider mattress toppers/pads for the sun loungers as they are not very comfortable!

The hotel and grounds are beautifully maintained, with lovely garden areas. All the staff are friendly and very helpful. The food in the restaurants, including the buffet style restaurant, is 5 star throughout. I think they have every cuisine you could possibly want and the quality is top notch. The only negative I can think of is that the evening bar service can be slow, but that’s not because of the staff. They are working hard to keep up, but the ratio of customers to bar staff wasn’t quite right, which often lead to lots of people waiting to be served. That said, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel.

A depressing experience

Rooms smell from mold. I asked to get a better room. The hotel charged me 30 euro per night for an upgrade and gave me a room close to room 510 which is being renovated with drilling terrible noise every day until 6pm. After I complained We were upgraded to a good room but I had to pack everything and move.
Food is not tasty at all.
You get one free bottle of water in your room at the first day. No place to fill up water. You have to buy water at the hotel and it’s expensive.
Big conferences guests -get priority. Red level guests gets priority. You constantly feel like second best in every aspect-unless you belong to those groups.
Main swimming pool is huge and with salty water but it didn’t look clean to me

My daughter had to move 3 times to 3 different rooms and never got a smell free room. She also paid for an upgrade. When you move a room the front desk promise to make sure your suitcase will be moved to the new room. My daughter. waited about 2 hours in her room for her staff and only at 7:30 pm got them after many requests and arguments with front desk guy. I felt that nobody really cares about the well-being of the regular clients and the only aim of the staff is getting more money from the clients . The impressive high ceilings , plastic sofas, white suits of the staff could not make us feel better.
We were waiting for the moment to get out from this hotel.

Very Disappointing stay, some staff were very rude. Every single meal requires booking a reservation, which is frustrating to have to schedule your entire day around eating. Water leaked through our ceiling into our room. Mini bar re stocking staff would enter into the room without knocking! Our little girl had a glass water bottle dropped over her in the restaurant L’olio ( no one came over to assist or offer towels to dry our 5 year old girl, they simply cleaned the smashed glass on the floor & left)

In the evening if you don’t get to the plaza early and get a table you will struggle to order a drink! (Table service only) With our all inclusive package we was lucky to get 2 drinks in the evening.

For an all inclusive package there was a lot of supplemental charges ( very clever from the hotel business perspective & certainly not for the consumer!)

The only positive, the food was great a credit to the chefs!

However would not visit again in the future!

The facilities were very good and the food was also excellent. However, whilst some of the staff were friendly and helpful, a lot were not. We paid for all inclusive and it was anything but - meal times were awkward for children and you couldn’t get food unless you paid extra at different times. So many items of drinks and food were ‘pay extra’ that it was more like a full board offering than all inclusive.

We ordered a Jack Daniel's coke which was £27. Tell me where you found this over £15 max. Didn't even give our money back

Fantastic Resort Hotel

This was our second stay here and I am happy to report it is as good as the first time. Gran Melia is a large and very comfortable hotel. 4 excellent restuarants were available to us during our stay, and there are others during busier time. The food and service are superb. The room is big and comfortable with a terrace looking out at the sea-worth paying extra for, if you can. All staff are very friendly and welcoming. I would happily return here and strongly recommend this place.

Amazing hotel!

Pro: Service, amenities, Italian and Japanese restaurants, and Pool. - great for kids!

To improve: On the children activities there should be music for children, not rock or Spanish adult music as there was during my entire stay. Children Children Music = happy children.

The Italian, Japanese, Sea Grill, Oasis, and Market Grill restaurant are a 10/10. - but the Buffet is a 6/10. - the hot main dishes need more elaboration and more variety.

I would stay again at the hotel. Thank you!

We spent a total of 3.5 hours over 3 days gathering and providing the hotel staff with payment details through Expedia. They consistently called our 3 booked rooms and asked us to bring printed details of our payment to their front desk which was about a 15 minute walk for older parents and one person with a walking disability. They lacked in customer service and refused to contact Expedia themselves. Our rooms were always facing the kiddie pool so super noisy (especially when we do not have kids); the windows had a air crack so you were never able to omit sound or ants and bugs. There was a problem with drainage in the room as well. Reservations for the restaurants were just as terrible as the food and service. I'd highly recommend booking elsewhere, and someplace closer to the downtown area. Car alerts, drunk people and the outdoor noise were constant.

On entering the hotel it definitely has a wow the reception staff were quick and efficient and very friendly.
Once we got into the room I was disappointed there was a musky smell but the room and bathroom are very big.
The food within the hotel at all restaurants was disappointing not a 5 star from my experience, and the staff were not very helpful.
We was only there for 3 days and found it very hard to get reservation for dinner in one of the restaurants, even the restaurants not included in the half board.
Overall we had a relaxing few days but for the money we paid and was expecting a 5 star we were just disappointed.

Good hotel but service needs improving

This is a good hotel located on the coast in a quiet Spanish town. It's nice to be aware from the touristy areas but Costa Adeje is only 20 minutes away if you prefer it busy.
The hotel looks lovely. The rooms are to a good standard and there were always enough sunbeds when we went in December.
The main issues I had were with the service and food/drink prices.
There was no pool bar at the adult pool so you had to press a button and wait a long time for someone to come and serve you. If not you would have to walk to the bar yourself which wasn't particularly close. I wouldn't mind but when you are paying €3.75 for a 200ml Coke you do expect better service.
We also ate lunch once at the hotel and it was poor quality and overpriced. After that we just made the 5 minute walk to eat in the local restaurants which served excellent food for a fraction of the price.
It would also have been nice to have food around the pool which is what I have experienced at other 5* hotels.
Breakfast is very good with lots of choice and we really liked the option of foregoing housekeeping each day in exchange for €20 to spend on food and drinks which really helps with the high prices.

The resort is beautiful and well situated. The rooms are starting to get a little dated and wear and tear is visible. We were hit and miss on cleaning staff as some days it was exemplary and some days it was done shoddily. Specifically the stinginess on in-room towels (2 for 2 people per day) is strange compared to other hotels where there are four bath/shower towels available. One might not need all but having them there for when one does is a service I would (and have come to) expect in such a resort. Food and food options were great.

Lovely hotel

The hotel is lovely. Very clean, superb pool and the most attentive staff you will find. Breakfast was very varied, but being vegetarian I wish the hotel had more options across lunch and dinner. Pool was nice and not too busy when we were there. Room felt a bit dark in some places, even with the multiple light switches! But this in fairness is a small point to what was a lovely week away!

Great hotel but not great value

Beautiful hotel in a good location although starting to show small signs of ageing. Some staff were great but they were rare, it has been a while since I've seen so many people be so indifferent about their responsibilities. Top that off with a Melia business model based on \"gotcha\" and not even nuanced \"extra for everything\" and you find yourself not enjoying the holiday as much as you could be cause half the staff are endlessly policing your yogurt intake. The hotel did not live up to it's rating. Moreover, I would find it difficult to stay at Melia resorts again, their business model and client approach is a total mess based on one-off transactions.

The hotel and rooms are fantastic! One of the nicest resorts I’ve been to. The pools are beautiful especially the massive infinity pool (however not heated). Still managed to swim in it. There is access to the beach from the resort which has a few cool rock pools by the beach. The breakfast is impressive- so much selection. The other resort meals and drinks are overpriced (the quality was good if you want to pay for it) but there’s plenty of great restaurants in walking distance in town.

friendly, professional, helpful staff. great menu

First time guests. Plan to return. Best staff we have ever experienced! Can't say enough about their willingness to cater to our needs with a smile. Regardless of how busy they might be. We tried not to disturb their efforts tho. Best wine we have ever had was the Vinetico Traditicional at Club Ocean. Would love to know the maker so we could purchase some for our own guests.

Nice resort, no beach

Nice hotel, but its not a \"beach resort\". It's located by the ocean, but you have to walk out of a locked gate and across the boardwalk to this very small rocky beach. It's a \"locals\" type of a beach and not a resort type you would expect based on the hotels description. The restaurants are overrated and overpriced for the food provided. The town of Alcala is a 5 minute walk and has numerous restaurants that are much better in taste and price. I don't mind paying for food, but the hotel has to do better as far as quality. our room was located close to the restaurant that serves breakfast and the noise of waiters and dishes being banged starts at 6:45 in the morning. If you are an early riser it's fine, but you can't get any sleep after that. The pools are nice, but it's a problem getting a spot close to it unless you wake up with the before mentioned waiters and attempt to reserve a lounge by the pool. The lifeguard told us that we can not reserve before 10:00 am, but after, it's all taken. When you do find a spot, you feel like being a sardine in a can, everyone is too close to each other. It was a very frustrating experience planning the pool every day. Great staff that are very friendly and helpful, but very little English. Overall a nice experience.

Loved the hotel facilities. Immaculate and beautiful. Amazing infinity pool.
Food was average and very expensive (5 euros per bottle of water). Only had breakfast included and wished had gone with the full board option. Always felt like a second class guest in the restaurants. Wait staff was often unresponsive to requests for drinks, bill etc... and more unpleasant than pleasant.
Overall, great hotel but food options and service could definitely be better.

Great entertainment and layout but lousy food.

The mini club and kids pool and nightly entertainment was too good. But we were disappointed with the food. Also has access to a nice sea front which has a nice small black sand beaches about 200 meters to the right. Rooms are not the most modern ones are not too great.

Relaxing couple vacation

The hotel had expensive meal options, aside from the ample breakfast offered, which we enjoyed in a variety of settings. Rather than the meal plan on offer within the big complex, we opted instead to go to restaurants in town. It was within a 10 minute walk, high quality, and much more reasonably priced. The hotel rooms were large and comfortable. WiFi quality was good, though it would have been better if one didn't have to go through a daily ritual of reconfirming the userid and password in a web form to unlock access (again).

Very good, but....

The room was well appointed and in very good repair. Everything functioned as it should. The bed was firm and comfortable, but not all too stable for active adults.... The beds moved. We didn't spend too much time in the room, as we were underway most of the time. The service was amazing, from the bell staff to the room service. A little known fact is the green option- you can save 20 euros off your room service bill by asking for the green option- this means they don't service your room for a day and you earn 20 euros- not a problem if you reuse towels and make your own bed... The balcony was small but cozy and screened from the freshwater pool (we were right next to it) by the vegetation. The infinity pool is a huge saltwater pool. This was unexpected and pretty unique.

Now for the not so good- It took a couple of tries to get a working water cooker (3, to be exact). The safe stopped working and I had to call the desk to get it fixed. There were two shower heads- a hand held and a \"rainfall\" head- The upper shower head was pointed the wrong way and the bath got flooded until we figured out that you have to point the stream to the back of the shower. Ice for drinks costs 2 euros. There is a dress code for some of the bars in the hotel (Slacks and a collared shirt, no sandals) so if you want to enjoy the hotel amenities at night bring appropriate clothes.

The town is close by, but small with little (aside from restaurants) nightlife. The Hotel had a full program.

Outstanding resort and great value

We made a last minute decision to go somewhere warm in Nov. with nonstop access from London. Great choice! The resort was at capacity but it's so well laid out that we never waited in line due to excellent service. Gorgeous grounds. Several top restaurants--Duo and Market Grill were memorable. Spa has odd policy where they don't supply bathrobes and you can't automatically use the saunas when you book a service. Sushi restaurant had snooty service. But all else was superb!

the hotel is in a beautiful location with fabulous pool..

Eating in the hotel is poor value ...we had a dreadful meal in the downstairs grill restaurant...paella out of a packet I would say but the club ocean and Japanese a la carte were good.The evening meal in the buffet restaurant at 42 euro a head is undoubtedly too expensive .It would have been even more expensive if we had bought the half board option at a price of 80 euro a day....one very nice restaurant outside the hotel right on seafront also a great lunch place much better food and value than the hotel.

Negatives:
1. The day of our arrival, after quite a long trip, we got a room facing Oasis bar- a very noisy one, despite the fact that I was telling the lady at the reception that we'd like a quite room. However, when 30 min later we phoned the reception and asked to change our room, this was done without further comments. It could have ben done from the begining, though!
2. Extremely expensive evening buffet (42€/ pers, drinks-not even water- not included); no seafood and a poor variety of fish.
3. Asking for shampoo and conditioner one of the days, I got shampoo, soap and body lotion!!

Gran Melia Palacio de Isora is pure perfection! Everything was more then we expected to be: exquisite design, large bright room, spotless bathroom, extremely comfort huge bed. Proseco at breakfast! The staff very attentive and always smiling. Last but not least: the infinity pool! That's the place you want to spend your summer vacation...for the next 10 years!

25th (Silver) Wedding Anniversary

This was our 25th wedding anniversary and we decided to \"swing for the fence\" and we scored a home run! This five star resort was everything it promised to be and more. The room w/ full ocean view was spectacular. The complementary champagne and gift chocolates were a real touch of class. We ended up getting half board and ate at three of the seven restaurants. Our favorite restaurant was \"Club Ocean\" but that may be because we met in Italy, Lol. I will wrap it up this way, we rented a car for our five day stay and once we parked it in the indoor car parking area we didn't move it again until it was time to drive back to the airport. We plan on seeing some more of the island next year when we come back for our 26th anniversary.

Lovely Vacation

The Gran Melia is excellent value for money at this time of year. The weather is perfect, and the hotel grounds are as beautiful as pictured. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing stay in Tenerife. Also, make sure to try the local restaurants outside the hotel!
