Das Hotel ist natürlich top für alle, die einen Event in den Westfahlenhallen, der Messe haben oder ein Dortmund-Spiel besuchen. Das Hotel biete alles, was man dann benötigt: schöne, sauber Zimmer, ein Restaurant, kurze Wege, freie Minibar (Nachschub auch an der Rezeption), usw. Frühstücksbuffet top.

Week in Dortmund

Perfect

Very comfortably situated next to the fair grounds, so could leave the car at the hotel and walk up. Free parking until 12 hours after arrival.
Good breakfast buffet. Fast and stable WiFi internet.
Unfortunately limited restaurants at walking distance, but Strobel had perfect dishes and they accept credit cards. ( in German restaurants an adventure sometimes )

The beds are horrible two tiny beds squashed together with a tiny heavy comforter that makes you sweat like a pig falls off if turn over I complained to staff their answer this German style beds cannot do anything. No sleep 3 days glad to move out.

Nothing to complain very much but nothing to wow.

Guests stucked in the lift didn't wait long for help but reaction of the staff shown it wasn't the first time it happened. The lift should have been out of service but wasn't and five minutes later it happened again to another guest.

Lovely hotel with friendly & efficient staff

Lovely, helpful staff (both before & during our stay). Took delivery of tickets for us, and also took our bags to our room after we left them there when we arrived in Dortmund but before check-in opened. Hotel had great transport links as well. Would definitely stay here again.

Mercure Hotel - Dortmund - Excellent Service

Dortmund is a fabulous city with great parks and lovely people. The hotel was exceptionally helpful, spoke fluent English. I was travelling with my daughter and because I could not leave the hotel at night the hotel offered me a couple of free beers for the room. Could not rate them highly enough

Clean hotel and near stadium. Was charged for “business package “ that includes breakfast incorrectly ($76 euro)and when I called them to make the adjustments, was advised had to email in the request. Odd that she couldn’t just credit it. Haven’t receive any responses to my email yet. One morning, someone came into room while we were sleeping , could have been cleaning staff but we’re not too sure.

Ideal location if watching Borussia Dortmund

This is the second time I've booked this hotel whilst attending a Borussia Dortmund football match. Location could not be better. Stadium is literally a 2 minute walk.
Hotel has everything you need, including friendly staff. Would stay here again if I return in the future.

Perfect for Football!

My son and I booked this hotel as we were going to watch the Dortmund football match against Schalke. The hotel was in the perfect location as it offered car parking, a decent room to stay in and a very short walk to the football stadium. It was absolutely perfect for us and I would definitely recommend the hotel if you are going to the match. Staff at the hotel were excellent and all spoke English, which helped us out!

Excellent location for the football

This is a great hotel if you are going to a Borussia Dortmund game as the stadium is a few hundred yards away. The hotel is very quiet with great sound proofing so a good nights sleep is easily achieved. The breakfast is good but expensive at 18 Euros.
The only downside to this hotel is that it's a few miles from the centre and can feel a little isolated. A taxi to the train station is around €10 and there is the underground, but it's not the ideal place to stay if you're on a lads weekend. There are a few decent restaurants nearby but not too many bars

Hotel was great until breakfast was charged twice

The hotel and location were great. I booked the room through Expedia and paid for breakfast included. When I checked out I was again charged Euro 18 for breakfast which in Germany is included with the booking. Euro 18 for breakfast is a ridiculous price that is charged in the first place and then twice is too much. I caution all people travelling and using the site to double check what they are getting and make sure to have everything in writing before accepting the offer.

Perfect location if attending football match

Hotel is ideal if attending a Borussia Dortmund match, as we did. The stadium is less than a 5 minute walk. Perfect location
It is also 5 minutes from the metro station to get into the centre of Dortmund

Great hotel

It was our first stay in this hotel with a couple of young kids, room was quite big and comfy, well equipped, clean.
Staff pleasant and friendly, nice restaurant although choice of meals could have been better. Nice quiet location, lots of trees around, easy access. Loved the pool and sauna. Definitely will come back again.

Nice hotel but building work spoilt stay

We used the Mercure Dortmund to break up a long drive from Germany to the UK, the roads around the hotel are a bit of a maze but it was found ok with sat-nav. Some of the hotel's parking was out of use so we had to wait for someone to leave to get a space, but it was free.
Staff were very friendly and spoke good English, room was a nice size with free mini-bar items, and good bed & bathroom. Starting to look a tiny bit tired around the edges but still good standard for the price.
Unfortunately we were given a room overlooking renovation works and the work started at 7am, including pneumatic drilling... so not the most relaxing wake-up call ever! In hindsight I should have asked for a room higher up or on the other side of the hotel, but as the hotel didn't seem hugely busy it would've been better if they sited guests away from the building works or had them start the 'heavy stuff' later, as after a couple of hours the workers started quietly gardening!
The air-con also seemed not to be able to cool the room sufficiently, and we had to have the windows closed due to the building work.
We weren't there to see football or a concert, but this hotel would be a perfect choice if you were.

Great stay!!

It was good, clean and brilliant if you are going to Dortmund for the stadium. It is situated in a great place with easy access to the train which takes you into the city.
No complaints at all with anything from the hotel it was a great weekend stay and would recommend it if your going there for the football.

Best mini-bar in the world!

The good stuff:
Extremely close to the Signal Iduna Park and also close to a subway station; Nice and helpful staff; Free parking which exceeds beyond check-out time (very nice if match time is in the afternoon of the day you check out); Everything in the mini-bar is free (including beers, waters and energy drinks)!
Room for improvement:
The room we got did not look anything like the one shown on websites (not sure if it is because we got a smoking room) and requires renovation.

Das Hotel war perfekt für unseren Zweck – ein Besuch im Signal Iduna Stadion. Das Personal war ausgesprochen freundlich und zuvorkommend. Das Zimmer hat uns sehr überzeugt: modern, praktisch und stilvoll eingerichtet. Auch das Frühstück war sehr gut, und das Team ist auf alle Wünsche eingegangen.

Das Stadtzentrum lässt sich bequem und schnell mit der Bahn erreichen. Beim nächsten Aufenthalt in Dortmund kommen wir definitiv wieder.

Wir waren schon mehrmals in diesem Hotel und sind grundsätzlich sehr zufrieden. Die Lage ist für Veranstaltungen in Dortmund oder für Messebesuch einfach ideal. Allerdings wird das Hotel aktuell teilweise renoviert. Dadurch gab es auch an einem Samstag bis circa 17:00 Uhr noch Baulärm im Haus. Wir werden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen und sind dann auf das Ergebnis der Renovierung gespannt.

Für die Veranstaltung Mayday hier übernachtet (zumindest wenige Stunden ;) ) und kann ich nur empfehlen. Kurzer Fußweg, sehr sehr freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal, saubere, großzügige Zimmer, anständige Rolläden um das Zimmer richtig abzudunkeln. Es gibt NICHTS zu beanstanden. Als “normaler” Hotelgast an solch Veranstaltungen natürlich dringend abzuraten, da nächtliche Ruhe natürlich nicht gegeben ist.

Für einen Besuch z.B. im Signal Iduna Park, oder bei einem Veranstaltungsbesuch in den Westfalenhallen (wie in unserem Fall), perfekt gelegen.
Mitten in der Stadt, baer sehr ruhig gelegen. Saubere, moderne Zimmer, tolles Frühstücksbüffet und ausnahmslos nettes Personal.

Ein sehr ruhiger Ort mit einer schönen Aussicht. Man hört keine Nachbarn - eine sehr angenehme Überraschung. Eine große Auswahl beim Frühstück und sehr netter und hilfsbereiter Personal. Das war ein entspannter Aufenthalt ä, so dass man sich komplett auf das eigentliche Auenthaltsziel konzentrieren kann.

Grundlegend wären Renovierungsarbeiten notwendig. Vorallem am Fensterbereich sehr viele Risse an den „Rollokästen“, sieht einfach nicht schön aus.
Sauberkeit ist so ein Ding für sich, ich würde noch sagen, hier hat mal ne Ecke vergessen aber leider war überall Staub. Wasserhahn ganz extrem verkalkt, Dusche voll mit Wasserflecken.
Alle Fugen verfärbt, würde jetzt nicht so weit gehen und sagen dass es Schimmel sei, aber es ist definitiv dreckig.
Telefon für ein Anruf an der Rezeption, defekt.
Minibar nicht vorhanden, im 2. Zimmer zwar vorhanden aber defekt.
Fernseherempfang auch reine Katastrophe.

Aaaber, immerhin war das Bett bequem und die Heizung hat funktioniert.

Frühstück war so lala.. Teilweise altes Essen (Räucherlachs, war komplett mit Öl übergossen damit man die trockenen stellen nicht so wahr nimmt) Und hierzu möchte ich betonen, ich bin Restaurantfachmann und garantiere dass die Produkte nicht von der Qualität und frische zeugen wie sie es bei einem 4 Sterne Hotel sein sollten!!

Nun ja, für den Preis ganz ganz schlecht.

Habe schon in 2 Sterne Hotels übernachtet die weitaus sauberer waren und vorallem besser aufgestellt.

Personal war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend, daran gibt es nichts auszusetzen.

Das Hotel liegt direkt in der Straße vom Signal Iduna Park und ist somit perfekt, wenn man dort ein Spiel anschauen möchte. Es gibt eine U-Bahn Station in der Nähe und es sind auch einige Restaurants zu Fuß erreichbar. Die Zimmer sind in Ordnung, jedoch mit Teppichboden. Es war sauber und wir konnten nichts bemängeln.

Insgesamt waren wir mit der Unterkunft sehr zufrieden.
Das Personal war durchweg freundlich, der Check-In ging schnell und unkompliziert.
Lobby, Restaurant, WCs waren sehr sauber.
Das Zimmer war grundsätzlich auch sauber.
Hier und da ein wenig staubig.
Die Hoteleigenen Flyer oder Hinweiskärtchen im Zimmer waren nicht mehr so ansehnlich. Das ist natürlich kein wirkliches Manko - es geht mehr um den Gesamteindruck.
Sicher möchte man hier auch Ressourcen schonen, was ja positiv ist.
Das Frühstück war prinzipiell gut.
Da das Hotel während unseres Aufenthalts stark frequentiert war, kam es immer wieder zu Wartezeiten bis z.B. Rührei, Brötchen und Käse wieder nachgelegt wurden.
Alles in Allem würden wir auf jeden Fall wieder buchen :-)

Das Zimmer (227) war sehr sauber und sehr gut ausgestattet.
Der Empfang an der Rezeption war sehr freundlich.
Dir Enttäuschung kam dann beim Frühstück. Vom Geschmack können wir uns nicht beschweren. Auch die Auswahl war gut, wenn denn immer aufgefüllt würde. Es gab zB.schon um 9 Uhr keine gekochten Eier mehr. Auf Nachfrage wurde nur gesagt, das wieder aufgefüllt würde, was aber nicht passierte. Da einige Tische schon für das Abendessen eingedeckt waren, gab es nicht sofort. An den eingedeckten Tischen durfte natürlich nicht gesessen werden. Pünktlich um 10 Uhr wurde natürlich das Buffet geschlossen und langsam auch abgeräumt.

Sehr aufmerksames Personal, saubere Und geräumige Zimmer mit vielen Ablagemöglichkeiten. Viele Lampen im Zimmer was mit dem Bodenturnen Fenster für viel Helligkeit sorgt. Pluspunkt sind die elektrischen Rollos die das Zimmer komplett Abdunkeln. Einziger Minuspunkt sind fehlende Steckdosen in Bettnähe sowie die Ausstattung mit Teppichboden, was jedoch den Alter des Hotels geschuldet sein dürfte.

The location is right next to the fair which was convenient. On the other side of the hotel was a small nice garden and it was close to two bigger gardens which were nice. Other than that there wasn't much to do in walking distance.
The hotel was okay, but definitely needs some updating. The pillows and sheets in the rooms were very old and iffy. The bar and pool were closed, the restaurant was open but there was no atmosphere there. No background music, nothing. It also wasn't possible to pay with card in the restaurant. We encountered this problem at multiple locations during our stay in Dortmund. It was like we were back in the 80s and paying with card was still strange or something.
Breakfast buffet at the hotel was pretty good though. It wasn't a bad hotel, but from Mercure and for the price I expected more. (260 euros for 2 nights with breakfast)

Kurztripp nach Dortmund

Ich war zum Spiel Dortmund-Hertha da, ich wurde von der supernetten Rezeption empfangen, alle Fragen wurden mit viel Geduld und zufriedenstellend beantwortet.

Das Stadion ist vielleicht 200m zu Fuss entfernt, sollte ich mal wieder dazu kommen dort ein Spiel zu gucken, werde ich wieder wieder im Mercure übernachten.

Solides und sauberes Hotel mit vorteilhafter Lage

Von außen nicht das schönste Gebäude (und man kann sich in der Einfahrt vertun...), aber innen ist alles ganz solide. Wegen der Corona-Geschichte ist natürlich weder der Spa-Bereich offen, noch das Restaurant, und auch das Frühstück ist kein Buffet, sondern ein Frühstückskorb, aber dafür ist das Kongress-Center nur 3 Minuten zu Fuß entfernt und man braucht sich dort kein Parkplatz mehr zu suchen.
Sauberkeit ist absolut vorhanden.
Positiv anzumerken ist auch, dass die Getränke in der Minibar (einschließlich Bier) sowie Tee und Kaffe auf dem Zimmer kostenlos sind :)
