This hotel is close to the tram stop which was very convenient. The hotel looks newer and that is reflected in the rooms. The room was large for three people. Everything looked clean. Breakfast was extensive! There was coconut yogurt and almond milk for those that don't eat dairy.

The hotel is ok, staff friendy and good options inside the hotel. However, it is not so close to the old town, it takes more than 15 minutes by car. Our room fridge was not working, we informed the reception, yet it was never fixed. The rooms are ok, but not sound proof. We heard everything from the corridor, and it was pretty noisy.

The hotel is extremely dated and in need of an upgrade. Very in clean in areas. The parking is hard to find and €15 to park in this vault underground. We had an executive room, there was nothing executive about it! Dirty carpets and air conditioning was dreadful. If it’s hot, you’re gonna have an awful night. The area is surrounded by high rise flats and nothing picturesque about it and the pool is shared with another hotel so has extremely cloudy dirty water and far too small. The food is super quick so obviously not cooked fresh and the breakfast was average. Avoid this Flea pit at all costs.!

From arrival the lady serving us greeted me with a friendly ‘bonjour’ and when I said Hello in English, her face instantly changed to a look of disgust….do your staff not like the British? I don’t complain easily but unfortunately due to the events as follows we were really let down. The room really wasnt up to an executive standard. the mattresses and pillows are VERY stained, there is only one bin for the whole place and thats in the bathroom, the walls are so thin we could hear everyone in other rooms so sleeping was difficult. we didnt have any complimentary items in the fridge-no water, soft drinks or food. there were no free toiletries in the bathroom as stated.the shower is too low so we had to stoop under it and the adjustable shower head doesnt work. the shower tray is dirty and the conditioner bottle empty. There is no rail when coming out and is dangerous to take a big step down.we were only given 2 coffee pods and one dressing gown for a family of 4.1 cracked mug by the kettle. 2 of the wall sockets dont work and we tried several plugs so its definitely the sockets. the interjoining door to another room doesnt lock so the otherside could easily walk in if they wanted but we put things against the door just in case. the advert for the stay is misleading as it says a seperate bedroom but its all in one room! i had to ask for all the missing items and was brought a chocolate bar, 3 cans for the fridge and for the fridge and some paper cups. No water bottles

Clean hotel with the bare essentials. Location is a distance from historic region of Lyon~ 3 miles. Walking it took us 45 minutes but public transit is really close. Restaurant on site is limited in hours and only serves breakfast and dinner at set times. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Good base in the south of Lyon city centre - 5 mins walk to a tram stop to travel into the city centre. The Breakfast buffet had a lot of options for us as a family. The communal pool is small, but good - towels for the pool are 2 euros from reception. Parking is underground at 14 euros. Restaurant on an evening is friendly.

There was a conference on whilst we were there, so lobby area was busy.
Pool is very small and bizarrely you have to walk through the dining area to get to it. There's no changing facilities so you have to walk back in your wet costume under your clothes. Seems the Ibis next door has all the same facilities but is cheaper than the Novatel!

They didn’t have 2 double beds as it said, they had 2 twin beds which meant one of my kids had to sleep on the floor and they only gave us one pillow on the bed which was a throw pillow cut in half and put in a pillowcase for a bed pillow and when I asked for another pillow they told me “that is not possible”. In my other room they also only gave us one pillow for the double bed and wouldn’t give us another one

Booked this based on other visitors recommendations but was unfortunately very disappointed

1. It's VERY dated inside
2. No cot provided even though the booking included an infant
3. The lobby restaurant had water coming through the ceiling which smelled like waste
4. The cleaners only made the adult bed up not that child's bed
5. It's literally the same building as an ibis

Property does not demonstrate the caliber of a 4 star establishment. Staff lacks hospitality skills and compassion. Check-out time was posted at 12 Noon, however, housekeeping keeps badgering guests at 9am, 10am and 11am to ensure we have vacated which was extremely intrusive especially when we were getting ready to check-out. I answered the door once and the housekeeping lady (perhaps Manager) gave me a rude and stern look, questioning why we haven't left the room yet. Additionally, contacted the front desk to extend a courtesy late check-out of 1pm as 3 of us were very ill due to food poisoning, and yet we were denied. As a guest, one would expect a little more accommodation based on each unique circumstance, and the requests in my opinion were more than reasonable. Nonetheless, very likely will not be returning.

Terrible service at all levels, particularly in the restaurant. After making a reservation and twlli g the host, I told hom where I would be and then pointed. A 1/2 wait turned into an hour I checked back in with him. No recall of the reservation, I waited agaim for a 1/2 hour and was seated. They brought part of my ordet and forgot the entree. During that wait they messed

Enjoyed my stay here. It is a little out of the way but travel in and out of the city on public transport is straightforward - assuming the services are running.
Breakfast was good but the bread choices were limited especially on the second morning where there was only 1 option apart from pastries and cakes.
I would return. The room was nice and spacious with the benefit of a sofa too. TV was very limited with no subtitle or original language option ( now available in many hotels). No radio options either but there are probably not so many people nowadays who like this option.

The room was lovely (as expected) and very clean. Air conditioning was OK, though I like the room a little cooler.
The pool wasn't very big and was very crowded (mostly young children), so we didn't use it in the end.
We ate at the hotel, but the food was not great quality for the price.

Clean, modern hotel with a nice lobby bar and good buffet breakfast. The pool is much smaller than we expected and was in the shade during the hours we could have used it, which was a shame. The hotel is on the river near the Confluence, about an hour’s walk from Place Bellecour.

Stayed away from this hotel if there is a chance that you might have to change your travel plans. I needed to advance my stay by two days, andrängte them a note via Expedia to that effect. They never answered anY of my mails (4 in total!).
When I finally called them they refused to change the date and also declined to refund the money for my unused rooms.
Very bad service!!!!!

Fabulous check in staff. We greatly benefited from them arranging a complimentary second twin room as opposed to the boiled family room as they happened to have one free and saw that my 14 year old son was the size of a large adult. Couldn’t rate the customer care more highly.

Not a great experience overall. Hallway and rooms had an odor of old carpeting, tap water had an odor of sulpher/eggs (Didn’t find this to be the case in either of our other Lyon hotels). Bathroom didn’t seem properly cleaned, we found long dark hair all over the floor. They were happy to move us across the hall, which was slightly better but still not great. My daughter found another hair on her pillowcase. Buffet was covered in flies. We asked to cancel our second night, which they were again happy to do, as well as issue a refund. Any staff I encountered were very courteous and helpful- but for the money I’d say this place needs some general updating.

The property had a lobby that catered to families. The pool area is quite nice but the pool itself is very small. Lovely little lobby bar. Many unique touches including a map of Lyon with staff members favourite spots in the city noted. Enjoyed our stay. The hotel was very busy on a July weekend. We booked a suite and it was HUGE. There was a living area with a sofa bed and table that is separate from the bedroom. Out of the 5 different hotels we stayed in Amsterdam, Dortmund, Paris, Lyon, and London on our trip, this was easily the nicest one.

The location is a little far from the city center, but tram and bus stops are very close by and it is a short ride to either Lyon Perrache or Lyon Part-Dieu.

The hotel restaurant was a little pricey, so we did not eat there, and there are plenty of other dining options nearby. My daughter enjoyed the pool and the foosball tables in the lobby.

We stayed in a suite (family of 4) and of course the pullout sofa bed was not great. Otherwise, a very enjoyable stay, with extra helpful front desk staff that helped sort out stadium parking (women’s World Cup games), and printing tickets etc. The breakfasts were tasty, and the kids enjoyed the pool. Getting out of the parking garage seemed to be the biggest challenge!

The inclusion of air conditioning was nice, and the breakfast was ample and varied. What was not great about this stay was the following: 1) The extremely loud renovation work that began at 8am each day and continued all day. There was no apology or acknowledgement of this inconvenience from the management. 2) I had my \"do not disturb\" sign on the door and housekeeping still came in to clean. This is a breach of privacy.

The hotel is about a 50 min walk from the old city. It’s not a bad walk and goes along river. While we stayed, there was a few soccer teams so the lobby, courtyard, and all public areas were strewn with mugs, glasses, litter, and cigarette butts. I’m sure it was difficult for the hotel staff, but it made us very hesitant to be anywhere other than our room.

The hotel is clean, modern and located near Musee des Confluences. It is also very near the T1 tram route to Lyon Part Duex rail station. Our room was very functional and well equipped. The check in was seamless, and the staff helpful. There are no restaurants in the immediate vicinity, and the city center / old town are not within comfortable walking distance. The breakfast quality varied from day to day.

Nice hotel with friendly staff

The hotel itself is surrounded by a construction zone, and at first I thought it was closed. There is fencing pretty much around the entire building, and I couldn’t figure out how to get in. Once inside, the staff and hotel itself were wonderful. It’s not in a great neighborhood as there are no restaurants or bakeries nearby, but the light rail( tram) has a station nearby. I would stay here again, but I would more than likely look elsewhere first just based on location only. The restaurant and pool are definitely a bonus, and there are complimentary gifts for small children at check in.

This hotel is OK for business trips

Hotel located new the centre of Lyon and within easy reach of many commercial centres. Hotel was clean and the staff were friendly. Food in the restaurant and drinks at the bar were quite over priced (16 Euros for two pints of beer!). My room and bathroom were very clean and for me that was the best thing about the hotel. The breakfast was OK, with fruit, meats, cheeses, cereals, croissants, and a cooked breakfast of small sausages, streaky bacon, and scrambled eggs. The cooked breakfast was cold by the time I put it on my plate and returned to my table, so didn't bother with that after the first breakfast. I might stay here again if I was travelling to Lyon, but would also explore other options for hotels closer to the company offices.

This was a fine hotel, but more so for a business trip than a romantic stay. Everything was fine, albeit a bit in need of upkeep. Lobby was better than room. Flaking paint etc. The staff mostly spoke French- so since we mostly speak English it was a bit challenging, especially when we asked for directions etc. All in all, it was simply \"fine\".

Excellent hotel for comfort, food and location

I'm very picky about hotels, and struggle to find ones in Europe that are comfortable with good food service, as well as enjoying other amenities. We were so pleased with this Novotel! The beds were super comfortable, rooms were soundproofed, the Breakfast buffet was amazing, as was the other food in the restaurant. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. And the hotel was so well placed in the city, we could walk or take the tram (very cheap!) to see all the best parts of the city! Definitely will look up this hotel chain the next place we visit! Thank you!

The hotel was new but the rooms were very small, especially the bathroom because it had both
a tub and a separate shower. It would have been a lot better if it had combined the shower and

Perfect for an over night stay

This hotel is perfectly situated for an overnight stay en route to the south of France. It's not \"the greatest\", and the breakfast buffet was rather poor (although we only arrived just before the end of breakfast). The staff was very friendly, the room was \"OK\" clean and the Wifi was \"OK\".

The locked underground parking garage gave us a little piece of mind for letting our fully loaded car stay over night, I would not have liked to leave it outside in the streets, so that was definitely a plus.

I wouldn't stay here for two weeks, but for an over night stay it was perfect. I've seen worse (much worse).

Woken by hotel construction at 8:30

We were due to stay two nights, but on the fitter morning we were woken at 8:30 by construction work right outside our window. Heavy drilling and hammering made it impossible to sleep.

We called to reception and eventually it stopped. Allowing this work to happen in the first place was misguided. We checked out early in search of better accommodation.

The Hotel smelled from the moment we entered it, the carpets obviously very old and probably rotten, the hotel is is need a a major refurbishment. Room was smelling again probably due to the carpet that seems very old and heavily used. The elevator card system does not work properly. The price vs the result was disappointing.

Very good hotel, poor service

The staff service was terrible. Rude and uninterested reception desk staff. The positive aspects are the nearness to the Confluence Museum and the shopping mall. The room was clean, wifi free (but ask for an email address), breakfast with good choice and quality, and overall facilities in good condition. The only problem was the service, however Novotel seems to be solving the problem by replacing the staff with automatic machines and posters with all information. If they successfully eliminate the staff, then I will give this hotel a 5 star review.

Value for money on Lyon

Wedding anniversary long weekend. Hotel is a little way out of central Lyon but the Tramway T1 stops (Halle Tony Garniere) about 100 yards from hotel and comes direct from Lyon Part-Dieu station. Staff very friendly and spoke excellent English. Had a dinner in hotel and the wood and wine were excellent and in keeping with the gastronomic capital of France, although the prices were not astronomic.

Breakfast buffet is so so but was included in our room rate, good selection of Continental style breakfast not so the more traditional English style.

Overall a thoroughly enjoyable 3 nights and well worth a visit.

The modern Museum des Confluences is about 9 minutes walk.

Was there for masters athletic world champs.

Had a great 9 nights while champs were going on used hotel as was situated between the 2 athletic tracks I needed. Great staff, pleasant and friendly.
Meals were fab.
Close enough to walk to shops and restaurants. (30-40mins walk)

Novotel Lyon

We only stayed for 1 night. On arrival, the room carpet was wet outside the bathroom. We were so tired, so, we couldn't complaint it right away, just washed the feet and slept for a while. Then a few minutes later, when we unpacked, we found the safe was closed and couldn't be used, so, called reception and told about wet floor too. Staff come quickly with towels and opened the safe too. He seems to have no knowledge of the cause of wet floor but reassured that it wouldn't be a leak. Hotel has underground car park, which is handy and secure. They didn't change us for parking as a compensation for the wet carpet inconvenience. Location is close to tram station and the museum about mankind, a highly modern building. It's next to Ibis. Breakfast is busy, typical Novotel breakfast contents buffet style. A magician entertained kids at breakfast. Swimming pool is outside, a bit inconvenient as it only open at 9 am and not earlier.

Clean hotel

While the hotel was clean and comfortable, most of the staff did not seem to speak English. The hotel was right next to a Tram station that gets you virtually anywhere in town. Overall, this hotel worked out well for my family.
