Very nice staff and cute location. Very walkable. The rooms were small but that was as expected. The hotel was easy to access and nicely kept. Would recommend if you’re just looking for a place to sleep after a day out and about exploring.

A fantastic hotel in a perfect location. It's very close to the Bellecour statue, making it easy to navigate the city. The area felt safe day and night. I loved being able to walk everywhere: the museums, the beautiful historic side of Lyon, and plenty of great bars were all just minutes away. Highly recommended for those who want to see Lyon on foot.

This is a great property if you need something cheap and quick. Great location for food. No AC. Fans aren’t enough and you have to open the windows and the street is loud till 2-4am with homeless shouting and people coming out of the bars. Hotel staff were very nice and the very small room was clean. But minimal towels, 3-1 bottle of shampoo, and staff is only at desk certain hours. They do offer to store luggage which is a nice plus.

Great location in town, very helpful and friendly staff. Room comfortable without being being lavish, nice to open the big windows and lap up the street atmosphere below. But good to close at night for quiet for sleep
Bathroom a bit tight, to keep in mind. And no AC but this was late September so not an issue to close windows for sleeping. Room cool enough

The communication from the staff before arrival was fantastic. I arrived after there staffing hours, but was given key pad codes the day before my arrival. They also send me information on which train and subway lines to use and costs vs a taxi.

This hotel does no have air conditioning, but will supply fans. Unfortunately for me, I was in Lyon during one of the hottest weeks of the summer. Just beware, when booking this hotel of that risk.

The bathroom was a very small area for only one. There was not a lot of places to put your personal items, but there was a desk immediately from the bathroom door, that I used for my items.

The breakfast was great, and I require a gluten free option. The hotel went out of their way to accommodate and made certain that gluten free bread was available and other meal options, eggs, fruit, etc.

I would visit this hotel again as a solo traveler. I did have a double bed and a large room.

The location is good, the staff are mostly pleasant, the breakfasts are good but are not included in the price. The rooms are small, bathrooms are too small and cramped, carpets in hall areas are very worn. The hotel needs serious upgrading. The area outside has late night into middle of night party goers making it very noisy.

Excellent séjour à l'hôtel du Dauphin. L'emplacement est idéal pour visiter Lyon le temps d'un weekend. Le confort est basique mais parfait pour qui ne cherche pas l'exigence. The hotel is located right in the centre of Lyon, walking distance to all major sights. Easy check in and out, English speaking staff. Stayed for 4 nights in a single room and although the room was somewhat small, there was a bigger single bed, not just the regular one, with a comfortable matress. It seems that the room was renovated recently, especially the bathroom (very modern and clean).

Great location and staff, tiny room

Stayed in a “non-deluxe” double. Room and bathroom are very, very small but clean. Bed was very comfortable. They provided an oscillating fan which kept the room comfortable on a warm night. If you are traveling to Lyon to sit in your room this is not the place to be. If you are going to be out and about this is a good hotel at a great price.

Good location, needs an update

Given its location at the heart of Presqu'ile, the hotel is well-priced, and has reasonable on-foot access to the vieux ville. The entrance is a green portico on Rue Victor Hugo, about 100m south of Bellecour. Reception is on the first floor behind an access door for which you need to via a call bell, or have the code. Reception is fine - you need some French to take it all in. The rooms are basic, but clean. At the front of the hotel there is occasional noise through the night from the street. What is more bothersome though is the thickness of the walls between the rooms, or rather the lack of it. There is no sound insulation whatsoever, so you can hear everything that is going on next door. Everything. The shower cubicle is one of the smallest I have ever experienced, and with a shower head that would n't stay at anything other than its lowest height setting, it was not a great showering experience. The sideways jet of water from the shower head seemed to be perfectly aimed at my eyes, making for uncomfortable showering. I didn't do breakfast, so no comment on that.

I think there may be better options locally.

No air conditioning in summer!

We just visited Lyon where it is 98 degrees. The hotel had no air and they only gave us a very weak fan. We couldn't open the window because of the street noise and also it was semi-broken. The room was sweltering and the front desk was not receptive to us asking for additional or stronger fans. When we asked to speak to a manager, they said no one was available and would not give us their phone number. They also told us we had to carry our suitcases up the stairs when we arrived because the elevator did not go to our floor-we found out later it did indeed, the person at the front desk just didn't know the code to use. Great location but horribly uncomfortable room.

Well-priced hotel in great location

Our room was upgraded because they had extra space. The room's size was fantastic given the price we paid and the location is superb if you are in the city for tourism. Despite facing the main street, there was no problem with noise. Hotel staff were really helpful too.

In the middle of town!

This hotel is au centre of the shipping districts with metro/bus connections all over town. Staff is very helpful and kind! Only negative is the wifi speed. I was in Lyon for work and the hotel's wifi speed was frustrating. this hotel gives you the true French ambiance which is what I wanted! I will stay there again, even with the slow wifi speed.

Bathroom woes in tiny room

This was the only truly disappointing event of our trip through France. The door to our room hit the foot of the bed upon entering. When I opened the closet door I was amazed to find it was the shower. The door across from that which could not be opened at the same time without hitting this one, was the toilet. Speaking of the toilet, this medium sized person had to wedge herself in and out of that personal space. Need I say more? One positive, Vincent at the front desk. He was quite polite and personable and recommended great restaurants for our one night stay.

Top be honest, the Hotel had not registered my booking with hotels.com, all rooms where fully booked and whole Lyon was fully booked, dispite they tried to put us on the road on a cold night at 11 pm without trying to help !!!
So, very bad experience with the hotel but luckily after 3 hours hotel.com could found us another room !! hope the staff had a good night sleep in ther warm beds ..........

Great location

The location of this hotel is ideal for reaching the old town, which is only a 5 minute walk away. Based on my search, there aren't really other hotels within this price range so close to the old town. Area is safe and close to a metro stop. The hotel room was clean and functional. A bit on the small side (bed took up most of the room), but then again I was in a single room. Wifi worked well in the room. I would definitely recommend the hotel to travelers on a budget.

Sadly, our luggage couldn't make to get to Lyon with BA on first night. We had been suffering from this issue from the start of our trip... But the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful with not only this problem but gprovided us a lot of useful information, regarding great restaurants, wifi etc. When our luggage turned up at Lyon airport, they phoned us up to let us know what was going on, and we got a phone call again when they recieved our bag at the hotel. So, we enjoyed Lyon without any worries because of their amazing kindness. Aditionally, this hotel is located in the center of the city. Only 1 minute walk from the nearest station. You can walk to the old town and the new town. Very useful!!

Great location for visiting the old town and the staff were all very pleasant but the room was probably the smallest I have ever stayed in and consequently was very warm.Unfortunately if you open the windows you got all the noise of the Lyon youth until the early hours (I definitely would avoid a saturday night stay the other nights were bearable).

I had a great stay at Hôtel du Dauphin. It was clean and comfortable. The bathrooms were small but adequate water pressure great. Breakfast, whether is was room service or in the breakfast alcove was plentiful and fresh. The location on Place Bellecour couldn't have made it more central to all sightseeing and transport.

Pull up to the front door long enough to unload luggage on Victor Hugo street, Great to be able to park the car under the Bellecour square a block away and forget about it. (Pricey parking, but ultra convenient.) Check for specific rates for the weekends...

Pleasant, economical, great location.

Hotel Dauphin is in a perfect location, in the center of Lyon's tourist/shopping areas. We two could easily walk to all the places we wanted to visit, and didn't need a car for the week that we stayed. Our \"deluxe\" room was clean and modern, but quite small. There was about a meter of space around the comfortable bed on all sides, plus a small space at the entrance. There was one modest-size closet, and overall we had only limited space for our luggage and clothing. Some luggage and belongings had to be squeezed under the bed. There were few electric outlets, inconveniently located. WiFi was free and worked quite well. There was no air conditioning, which didn't bother us in October but could be a problem in summer. The large window opened fully, which did let air through well but also let in noise. The street level entry to the building is old and tired, but once you go up one stair (or take the elevator) and go in to the hotel proper everything is quite modern and pleasant. The staff was helpful and courteous. We'd stay there again.

Knowing Lyon, I didn't want to be south of Bellecour, certainly not at Perrache end. Whilst Dauphin is 'just' south of Bellecour, it's ideally located, 2 mins walk from the metro, 10mins walk from the old town. The hotel is very basic but nothing to complain about. The room was truly tiny, shower in one cupboard, toilet & sink in another, but perfectly functional. Spotlessly clean. Bed was comfy, street noise was nothing above normal, rooms are so tightly packed in that you can hear everyone coming in but hey, it's a minor point. The lady on reception was charming, the evening guy typically blunt French, but once the guard was down he was friendly. Stay here again? For sure.

But the rooms are tiny!! and the bed is too uncomfortable! and yeah there is no ac! gotta open the windows all night and hear the french drunk yelling all night!!

Hotel Du Dauphin close to Place Bellecour

Hotel location was ideal, just off Place Bellecour, near to old Lyon and its excellent restaurants and within easy reach of the excellent public transport system and sights. The hotel staff were all very friendly, the room was compact but very clean, warm and the bathroom whilst small was fit for its purpose. the hotel is situated on a pedestrianised shopping street just offf Place Bellcour so quiet at night but near to all amenities. Can recommend moules and crepes in L'Eau Salee, 4 rue des trois maries, vieux lyon and excellent pasts at La Route des Pates, 49 Rue Merciere.

A bit small, but great location for a good price

I stayed here for a weekend in Lyon. The price was right, and the location was excellent. I was only about 150 m from Place Bellecour! the room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. the free wi-fi was a little slow, but it worked. my only complaint, the size of the bathroom. it is small, with a SMALL shower stall. While the price is great (especially during off season), I would have liked a slightly larger bathroom.

If you are staying in Lyon for the weekend, you cannot beat the price and location. however, for a slightly longer stay, I would opt for a bit bigger room and bathroom.

Overall, a good, clean hotel in a great location!

Chambre très propre, cafetière nespresso très appréciable en se levant.
\"Petit\" bemol, la salle de bain est VRAIMENT très petite . On ne peut pas bouger dans la douche et se retourner sans se cogner et wc collé contre le mur....
Ascenseur très petit et réception de l'hôtel au 1er étage de l immeuble.

L'hôtel fait un peu vieux, et peut surprendre. Il faut monter un étage avant d'accéder à la réception. Les chambres sont petites mais fonctionnelles. La literie est en revanche irréprochable. Le linge de lit est aussi de qualité.

Le personnel est très sympathique et l’hôtel est refait à neuf au goût du jour.

Très cher pour l'état de la chambre (N°5). Salle de bain minuscule et délabrée : bouche de VMC avec moisissure autour, faux-plafond qui laisse tomber de nombreuses poussières ou dépôts noirs dans la douche. Murs et faux-plafonds de la chambre bien abimés. En revanche le personnel de service est très bien.

Assez difficile de dormir avec la chaleur et l’absence de climatisation. De plus ouvrir les fenêtres donnant sur la rue piétonne était impossible. Jeunes en trottinettes jusqu’à 4h du matin. Chambre confortable et agréable toutefois.

« Caliente »

Un petit hôtel qui ne paye pas de mine mais propre, avec une jolie décoration et donnant sur une rue piétonne.
Malheureusement il y faisait chaud (trop) en cette mi juin, la chambre était bien équipée d’un ventilateur mais pas de climatisation, de plus le volet déroulant ne fermait pas complètement.

Bonne adresse à Lyon Centre

Très bien placé, plein centre, très proche parking Bellecour. Confort chambre OK, SDE aussi (un peu étroite), seul bémol l'escalier pour accéder à la réception au 1er étage est très usé. Ascenseur pratique. PDJ basique et suffisant
