Lovely economy room. Well decorated and comfortable. The room was extremely small and I habitually banged my arms getting in and out of the bathroom. There was no natural light as the window was obscured by a wall. It was cosy and snug ... even though there were inconveniences, I would still stay here again and again. The location, the staff and the public areas made this a truly wonderful experience. The room and hotel was spotlessly clean and the breakfast demonstrated excellent attention to detail.
I also asked for a kettle and this was immediately brought to my room, so service was exceptional.

No heating at 38 F degrees. Bath full of mold has no extractor, all pipes are for you to view, walls in bath room with cracks that suggest structural issues. They hide behind eco to not supplying any amenities. Youthe travel agent should make sure the star rating is real. No fridge.I have stayed at hostels with better rooms and amenities. Would give the only 2 stars.
The outside of building is nice , so it decieves you. But travel agent is also responsible for letting hotel lie.

Easy walk to all forms of transport. Very close to a great dining area. Surrounded by lovely shops that are closed Sunday-Monday. Very comfortable (small) common areas and lobby. No regrets staying here.

The room was clean and staff were helpful. Late check out (12pm) was good.

Only thing is that you have to leave the key at the front reception and there is one elevator (I was level 5 so stairs weren’t really feasible with luggage). As long as you are not in a rush anywhere it’s fine.

Our stay was great. I would have liked a fridge in the room. It is a beautiful, old hotel with a lot of character. I would have preferred hardwood in our room from a cleanliness point of view. The breakfast was good and the staff were great. We also had dinner in the restaurant, which was terrific.

The location is excellent for touring/transportation. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet comprehensive. Bed was firm but comfortable. Air conditioning was iffy. We needed to move rooms as we and staff had difficulty setting up the A/C. We also suggest a rubber mat in the slippery tub/shower.

Great hotel located a short walk from all sorts of attractions including: restaurants (brasseries/bouchons), two rivers (the Rhone and Sone). It was surrounded by quaint buildings from the 1700s/1800s. It was not far from a funicular (a hillside train) station that takes you to the well preserved ruins of a Roman theatre at the top of the hill as well as near a beautiful cathedral. It was a very nice mix of modern and vintage. Loved our time there - wish that we could have stayed longer than the two days we visited.

Great location but smelly!

Excellent location. Sadly, that’s about it.
Breakfast at €19 p/p was boring. The corridor skirting boards and our door were in desperate need of refurbishing. Our room was cold and no facilities (fridge, kettle or coffee machine) BUT worst of all: the shower drain bad smell. We have never experienced anything like this before, and we do travel a lot. The receptionist came up and poured some product down the drain but it did not eliminate the odor.

Beautiful hotel, with elegant charm and wonderful staff. In the heart of an active part of Lyon with lots of shopping, restaurants and walkability. Small but well-appointed room, comfortable bed, nice shower. Very nice breakfast buffet. Staff was friendly, efficient and welcoming.

the primary reason for the rating is the AC - it was almost not working - had to be moved 3 times and even then had only marginally working AC - they are also redoing the hallways and stairwells - so much construction.

No telephone in room. Safety issue.

Very good but no telephone in the room and phone by the elevator did not work. Told later phone was replaced but was not. Safety issue if we would have had an emergency. Also safe box in room was not bolted in. Left our passports at front desk and when we returned back after change of shift the new person who was nice didn’t know how to get them and finally was able to reach the last person and got them but anxious about same as we had an early train and we became anxious knowing if we could get them by morning.

Great small hotel that needs a bit of a refresh

Great location and friendly, helpful staff.
Rooms are looking a bit worn and tired, especially for the price, and the selection of TV channels in English was poor. The onsite bar and restaurant is good. The location is excellent, close to metro and bus options, as well as shopping and restaurants.
If you are not going to spend much time in your room, this is an ideal place to stay in Lyon.

You can't ask for a better location in Lyon. It is right in the heart of the city, easy walking distance to everything.

The staff and hotel are extremely friendly and helpful. Terrific breakfast in the morning.

The facilities themselves have a fun, old-hotel feeling to them, and I enjoyed how it didn't feel like a chain hotel.

The room door blocked no sound and i was next to the laundry room and staircase, meaning late nights and early mornings for me. I was on the lowesr floor meaning every flush in the nighr came through my room.

Other than the noise, i couldn't fault it. Id willingly come back

There was a lamp hanging in our room with a frayed cord which we disconnected do that we didn’t trip over it in the dark.
Getting in and out of the shower was tricky as the platform we had to step on to get in was very slippery.

this is an old and well place hotel but you need to know your way arround as no concierge. rooms are tiny and bathroom old. it is more an 3 star than 4 star hotel.
staff is pleasant but don't ask them to book a restaurant as they forgot to do it for us and i had to imporovise.

Staff were sharp, quite attentive and helpful, plus very fluent in English. Lobby and dining area are quite hospitable and well decorated in a charming mostly modern motif. Location is superb in Central Lyon. Parking is not available on site but garage parking is close by even though the maze of one way streets can be frustrating to get there. Bed was very comfortable and room was remarkably quiet. Would likely re-book there for a future trip,

The hotel was very near to Place Bellacour and convenient for walking around old town Lyon. The staff were extremely helpful and all of them seemed to speak English, which was very helpful for me as a visitor from the U.S. I had a great experience staying here. Old town Lyon is truly beautiful.

This boutique hotel is the best. Mostly French guests but so accommodating to me as an A merican with limited French. The staff is remarkable, friendly, courteous and most helpful. I can't recommend it highly enough. I extended my stay 2 extra days. They upgraded my room right off at a wonderful rate.
Room size is comfortable altho not commodious. Water, shower gel/ shampoo, tissues, cotton rounds, shoe shine cloth and cotton buds are amenities - even a heated towel rack.

Due to an event in Lyon, I had to stay in 3 hotels - the first 2 were 3 stars and this was 4 stars which I thought would be the best but I was somewhat disappointed. Seems to be one of those hotels focusing on hip/luxurious impressions while missing the basics. Bathroom had a poor layout and shower head was partially ripped from wall, Room key/lock hard to work, etc. On the positive side, there was a computer for guest use and the location was excellent.

It was a good stay in this hotel. It was located a few mins from Place Bellecours so it was really convenient. However, at night, there is only one staff working in the hotel. I needed to order something from my room, I had to go down and pick it up. Also, when I wanted to drink something at the bar at night, there were some people were already at the bar, and I had to wait lots of time to have just one drink. It was not a big hotel, but still I believe there should have had more staff even at night.

Globe and Cecil is located a block from the Bellecour Metro A and D line stop which I found very convenient. I found the hotel staff very friendly and eager to assist. My room was small but that was not an issue for me. I would definitely return to Lyon and would consider returning to the Globe and Cecil.

This older hotel has aged graciously. Its young staff is perhaps its most remarkable feature. They are the most helpful, upbeat and overall pleasant service people I've encountered in a long while. The AC is surprisingly efficient, making the rooms comfortable in warm weather. The hotel's location is perfect for getting around, either on foot or on the metro. The only criticism: wi-fi can be a bit spotty at times but not constantly. Highly recommend to all.

Warmly welcomed on arrival. Despite a crowded dining room they found us a table for lunch after a short delay. Room 1 was quite old fashioned with tired chairs but the bathroom was modern and very nice.
Next day we discovered a leak from a radiator and reported it. That evening we were given a different room,larger,lighter and recently modernised - very nice.
The location is excellent, all the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful, the food was delightful, altogether a most enjoyable stay.

The hotel was lovely, and absolutely perfectly located. Just one block off of Bellecour plaza, with its metro stop and many, many food options. Since the hotel is in an older, central part of the city, the rooms are definitely on the small side. But very comfortable, and having an older charm. The lobby was recently remodeled and is stunning. Breakfast is good.

The staff was probably the friendliest I've had on any recent travels. Excellent English spoken.

For some travelers, the lack of conveniences like an exercise room, an in-lobby \"quickie mart\", or a fridge in the room might be a negative. But honestly, if I wanted those things badly enough, there were any number of other hotel options in the area which would not have had this hotel's location, personality, or intimacy. Price was very competitive for the area. Really enjoyed it. :-)

Great location and helpful and friendly staff.
I was in a small room at the back of the hotel with single glazing. I couldn't sleep for noise from a generator below. Staff moved me to a double glazed room at the front of the hotel, which was much quieter. Make sure you get a double glazed room if noise stops you sleeping.
Room decor and bathrooms are faded and stained and need updating. My first room had an old stained carpet.
