This hotel is in a great location. Parking is tough but at least there is an unloading zone to drop off your luggage. Bed was comfortable. Our main complaint was NO hot water. Showers were extremely tough in cold water.

We are a senior couple visiting Lyon for the first time. The hotel is well located for walking to Lyon old town, breakfast is good and the staff helpful. The room is very small and there is hardly any space for luggage. The room ventilation is inadequate and we can sometimes smell cigarette smoking.

The hotel itself is nice, but they advertised to have AC. Either it's broken or it's just a ventilation system, even when temperature outside was 16C, the room was hot and humid, and windows cannot be opened. The staff changed my room once, for a room in a lower floor with less sun light, it was less hot, but still far from AC confort.

Great Mercure on the Presqu'ile. The location could not be better. The staff are a delight. Our Prestige room number 802, a corner room on the top floor had great views, including of the river and beautiful buildings. The lobby bar is delightful, open many, may hours, a comfortable meeting and relaxing place . The Bartender was able to recommend great restaurants at reasonable prices. The location could not be better for shopping, the largest museum in Lyon, access to restaurants, to the Tourist Bureau, in short, the central location was all we could ask, the room was delightful at a reasonable price, the service was excellent and informed, we travel a lot and count not ask for more at such a reasonable price, star-quality location, informed and gracious staff, and lobby lounge with a bartender who knew his wines and had just picked the wines for the summer season. A star hotel in every way.

Great location within walking distance of all major sights. Room was basic and no air-conditioning was available. Would put it on a par with Premier Inn in the UK. Bed was large and comfortable, fridge available and basic bathroom with shower. All very functional but not luxury at all! Paper cups and no water. Cleaner very good. Fresh towels when required. We were on 8th floor and it was very noisy with loud traffic and people at street level. Staff all very pleasant but in our view the hotel is overpriced. Won't be returning.

Lovely hotel with a very cold bathroom

We really liked the hotel and would stay again. The room was big, the bed comfortable and the linens nice and cozy. It was very cold in Lyon when we were there and our only negative comment about the room is the bathroom was like an arctic climate zone! When you ran the shower it would heat up but if you went into the bathroom in the middle of the night - it was a cold plunge! Otherwise, the hotel was terrific. Staff super friendly. Espresso machine and wonderful tea selection in the room. Free (basic) mini bar and very convenient to all locations in Lyon. Even with the cold bathroom we enjoyed our stay and would return.

The room was very small with just a twin bed. I did not understand the thermostat, and it did not seem to have any effect on the temperature of the room. There wasn't a countertop around the sink, just a few inches on the sides, making it difficult to balance things as I tried to get ready. The small nightstand was oddly shaped, and everything I put on top of it slid off onto the floor. On the positive side, the breakfast was good.

Hotel is centrally located. Great for walking and getting to your destination. Carrefour store just down the road about 700m. They have great salad bar. Hotel has a bar which has great cocktails! I really enjoyed basil gin smash. Very nice lady bar tender. Room has tea maker and mini fridge. Small but neat and functional.

Centrally located and newly renovated cody hotel.

Hotel is centrally located close to shopping belt and restaurants and cafes. The reception staff on the morning and afternoon shifts were equally friendly and helpful. The lady on the day shift helped me retrieve my ear ring which dropped into the gap between the bed rest and the wall. The afternoon shift reception (Souhael) was especially helpful and recommended a few good restaurants and places to visit. I think hotel is newly renovated and very clean.

We were told we had no reservations without making any effort to clear up what was a linguistic misunderstanding. We showed the clerk our copy of your confirmation. First thing he said after glancing at it was \"I don't see your name on it's. Very rude and condescending. He charged our card 200 euros, not the 157 the confirmation stated. We expected the room to be small, but it is tiny. The invented toilet has a sliding door that is nearly impossible to slide shut. They offer a continental breakfast for 19 euros each. Would have expected more for that price & 4 stars

The hotel was per se ok, but for four stars I'd expect more attention to details:
- Staff at reception was friendly but slow, unexperienced, with limited language skills, and not really up to the task
- Shower looked cheap, dust and debris from the walls in the bathroom felt on the floor all the time
- Bed and room were rather small
- Breakfast was good, but limited space and staff was slow in re-filling bread, cheese, bacon etc.
- Staff at the bar looked very bored and unmotivated

We had very poor check-in. We arrived and 9:30 am and were told the room would be ready at 3:00. It wasn't. We had to wait for an hour while the maid cleaned the room. We didn't get in it until 4:00. The hotel knew we were there and could have cleaned the room to be ready as promised. We would not stay there again.

PROS: The hotel has great friendly staff, good location and is walking distance to Old Lyon. Rooms are new and clean, and for the most part it has what you need. Except for the points below...

CONS: The AC is NOT cold and the windows CANNOT be opened so it made the room very warm and stuffy. So if you like fresh air, or is claustrophobic, this is not the hotel for you. We were here in early November and it's cold outside...can't imagine what it would be like in the summer! We complained at the front desk and they advised us on what settings to put the AC on. We did that, and it was still not cold enough. And it sounds like the guy receives this complaint often because he answered my complaint like he's done it many times before.

The room is very small. As in there is JUST enough space for all the appliances and furniture, and for you to walk around them and not a square inch more. We're small people and the bathroom is tight even for us, so if you're a big person, I can't imagine how hard it would be to get past the door. Toilet is right next to the bed, so if someone goes in and stinks up the bathroom...better close that door tight! Bed is on the firm side and not the most comfy.

My stay was for 8 nights. This hotel is charming, clean, quiet and conveniently located. It was almost perfect except for 2 minor things.

First, the staff refused to honor the \"do not disturb\" signs as a signal to not service the room. There is really no reason to change towels and sheets every single day, especially when there are pamphlets claiming how to be \"green\" by not doing exactly that. Keeping the towels hung did not stop them. The do not disturb sign did not stop them. How many times a week (spoiler, less than 8) can a person tolerate unwrapping a new plastic bathroom cup when the one used the day before was perfectly good, but needlessly thrown away? They break easily when opening the plastic bag around them, so a few of the days i was ironically left with absolutely no cup.

Secondly, the young man that checked me in distinctly said, in perfect english \"... and breakfast is included with your room...\" which surprised me at the time because i remember it not being included when i made my booking. After 2 days i realized the breakfast (at 18euro each) was in fact not included in the room. And only because i read a review on another site of someone else suffering a similar... i hesitate to use the word scam... but let's say \"intentional mistake\". They were however kind enough to remove the charges after my heated protest.

Mercure Lyon Centre Plaza République is located in a quiet street in the Presquile District of Lyon. Most attractions in the city are easily accessible by foot or public transport.

We had booked a Privilege Room which was large & well-appointed though the carpets in the room as well as the hallways looked well-worn enough to require replacement. Also, the room layout is kind of strange with the Bath & Basin section in one corner & the WC/Toilet in another corner. We found this to be quite inconvenient. Imagine having to go around the bed to the other corner of the room to wash hands after using the toilet! See attached picture.

The breakfast was quite satisfactory.

And they should definitely replace the paper cups that they provide for tea & coffee with real proper cups/saucers and the plastic stirrers with teaspoons. This seems to be case with all Mercure hotels in France.

Romantic weekend in Lyon

Wecame to Lyon for a romantic week-end escapade and also to meet with friends. Lyon is a magical city, capital of good food, with beautiful French streets and cafés. It has all the charm of a big city without most of the disadvantages. The city being crossed by 2 rivers makes it all the nicer to stroll along on a sunny day like ours. Definitely a big yes!

Great Staff!

The hotel was good. The room was very small. It's in a great location and parking is close by. The breakfast was just ok, but there are other places to eat nearby. The staff was fantastic! They were so helpful and responsive to our request. The TV quit working one evening and they were there to fix it within minutes.
They really helped make our stay in Lyon enjoyable.

I came for Quais du Polar, and it was in a very handy location, just a short walk from most of the venues. The room was a little bit on the small side, but had all the necessary comforts. Toilet was separate from bathroom, which helped make the bathroom quite spacious.

It was enjoyable and educational at the same time. My disappointment was there was no micro wave in the room to warm up anything. You had to ask the front desk attendant to do that for you.The buffet breakfast had the same items every day and was too expensive for that reason.
