The staff was lovely and responsive. There were issues with room cleanliness when I arrived (personal items from a previous guest in the bedding). The elevator was under repair for the first couple of days of my trip.
The location is very central and the breakfast and refreshments available in the lobby were appreciated.
I enjoyed my stay much more once the room was cleaned properly and the elevator was functional.
Note: Soundproofing is minimal and noise from other guests and staff can be disruptive.

Th Hotel was lovely and the view from window beautiful. The bathroom was clean and pretty but bathroom needed a shelving area for travel products . The room could have had better lighting - was darkish . I have to say the spiral staircase to breakfast made me dizzy . The breakfast was not as nice as others and staff at breakfast not very hospitable.

Our room has extremely low ceilings, right above the reception area. We complained to the receptionist, and she said all rooms were full. It's mid September, I wouldn't have booked this hotel had I known about it's condition.

Great place to stay for both families and couples! Nicely located in the centre of town, walking distance to all the shopping and dining. Also the hotel lobby has free coffee machine that makes hot chocolate too. Free water and sparkling water as well as nicely brewed herbal tea. Love the friendly staff and don’t forget to try their breakfast option, it’s quite nice, everything is done just right, including the drinks.

This was a lovely hotel and the staff were friendly and excellent. We really appreciated the drinks that were available in the lobby even before and after we had checked out on the first and last days. A lovely, generous touch. Our room was gorgeous.

Only two issues. The area was noisy at night with the nightlife and the access by car was impossible. We had hired a car, but took it back to the hirers for the last two days of our holiday in Lyon as the peninsular in the centre of the city where the hotel is, is in the process of being pedestrianised. Road closures made it impossible to get to the hotel by car. We ended up parking about 10 minutes walk away to drop of our luggage and took the car back to the airport and returned it two days early. We had been planning to do this after we had dropped the luggage off, but it was quite stressful driving round the centre of Lyon for about half an hour before we discovered that it was impossible to drive to the hotel.

The hotel is very nice. It is well decorated, super well located, and it has a very nice vibe to it.

The building is old, so there are a few things you should take into account: the elevator is small and slow, and halls are small and a bit inconvenient. But the rooms are big and well furnished, very clean, and very nice. The bathroom in my room was very spacey, and well equipped. The room itself had a balcony with a great view of the city, and very good heating.

Breakfast was not outstanding, but it was more than good.

Finally I should point out that the location is perfect, and very comfortable to walk or take public transport anywhere in the city. It is especially close to the old Lyon, which is great if you are visiting for tourism.

In terms of parking, there is a parking garage right across the street from the hotel but I read it had bad reviews, so I used another by accident the river that was like 4 blocks away, but still very convenient. Parking an suv was not a problem there, although it was very expensive (this has nothing to do with the hotel of course, just a tip for others who might be looking into it).

The bottom line is that the hotel was great and I would go back next time I’m in the city.

It's a cute boutique hotel right in the centre. But why does it have four stars?

Positives - super central location, unlimited coffee and water, friendly girls at the reception.

Minuses - the hotel is really tiny, there is no bar or any facilities rather than two couches at the reception. The room is big but very dark! No fridge. We couldn't sleep because the neighbours went to the corridor at 12am and decided to shout. And the next day the building works started at 7 am.

Know your right when you book a room

I was given a lousy room with horrible cracked ceilings on the first night and without lifts access. It was not according to the room type I booked.
It was changed after my complaint and the problem was then resolved. However, I paid for a losy room for the first night despite of getting the correct room I booked and also with the trouble of the need to change room.

The Silky Hotel had friendly, helpful front desk staff! Our room was very clean and quite large by European standards, with king sized bed, a large bathroom, and tiny little balcony with two small chairs, overlooking the street front. However, for a large room, it had no dresser or other piece of furniture to put your things down. There was only a small desk by the door, and much of the desk space was taken up by the coffee machine set-up. So the room was too sparse and the space needed more furniture. For this reason it would not be comfortable for more than a night or two.
Also, although the rooms are updated, the stairwells and corridors are dark and dingy, with old stained carpeting. This area really needs updating! Breakfast was in the basement level because there is no room in the tiny lobby. I did not like the breakfast space and the food was just passable. Overall I would recommend hotel for a very short stay in a central location.

Location is the main draw of this hotel.
Close to Cordeliers metro. Walkable to a fun area where there are multiple restaurants open even on a Sunday. Two restaurants next to the hotel and many options around the corner for pizza and pasta. Lots of shopping nearby. Two churches less than 10 min away and Old Town less than 15 min walking.

Breakfast is at an extra cost, but worth it depending on how much time you need to walk around. Lyon is huge!

The hotel is older and it shows.

Very convenient location for first visit to Lyon . Very central and 5 minutes to metro. The room was large , the bathroom shower had good pressure and good temp, the bed was comfortable. The staff were helpful . But this is not a four star hotel . Very rundown feel in the public areas . The decor is very dated and worn. The breakfast was very average.

The location is superb. The hotel staff was excellent, very friendly and helpful. Free coffee, hot coco, and water was a nice touch. Daily housekeeping is great. The room is adequately air conditioned. Areaa for improvement: the towels need upgrading. Some mold in the bathroom. Would I stay here again? Sure. But I would bring my own towel next time.

The staff were the main thing I liked about the hotel .the girls at the reception desk were V. Friendly and helpful .they helped me change my room which was dark and noisy to one that was light bright and had a balcony..( which I loved )

This hotel was great for me as a solo traveler - it’s in a safe area, the room was clean and I was impressed by the double windows that blocked out street noise. It’s right in the heart of a ton of shopping and restaurants. The only con was the shower- I barely fit in it and I’m a smaller woman, and the doors didn’t shut properly so the water got in the floor. If you can look past that it’s a good room.

The hotel was situated very central in old town of Lyon, very close to many restaurants, sights, and tours.

Rooms were snug, couple of the floors did not have elevator access. The bath towels were pretty low quality, might be our only complaint. AC worked really well so that’s a huge plus in France.

Have to get your own water from the main floor, hopefully they have caps for the bottles as they did not when we stayed here.

The rooms were equipped with an espresso machine, easy to use \"cast\" feature on the TV for streaming shows, and the bathroom came with full bottles of shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, hand soap. The staff was very helpful and booked us a car, stored our luggage and were overall very accommodating. I didn't have the breakfast, but the cellar-like dining room was so charming and warm.

It is great in terms of location and accessibility from the airport. The actual hotel relies on a very tiny elevator so if you have a lot of bags and/or people it’s very difficult. We also had to move rooms because of a very loud leaking pipe. The hotel itself is nice in the lobby but the rest informs you that it’s very old and hasn’t been looked after. My partner accidentally stepped on a mouse which then scurried into a hole into the wall as we walked up the stairs.

Perfect room for when you need more than 1 bed. It was surprisingly spacious & the bathroom was great as well. Staff were friendly & welcoming. I appreciated the carbonated water fountain available in the lobby especially. They also locked the doors starting at 11pm which helped us to feel safe & secure during our stay.

Location of property is perfect. Check in was easy with friendly staff. We were on third floor, elevator worked only about 1/3 of the time we needed it. Room was very cute and we wanted to like it. Front doors of rooms were very loud, our sqeaked, and you could hear neighbors doors slamming every time they would enter and exit room. Bed was nice size, USA King size, but was very firm. Stayed for three nights and struggled to sleep on hard bed, very painful. Requested a couple extra pillows to help with discomfort of bed. Staff said they would bring them if available, then never showed. Mold in shower. After one of room cleaning had to ask for replacement pollow case due to blood stain, which staff promptly replaced. Overall, we wanted to love it, but could not stay there again because of discomfort of bed.

We enjoyed our stay. The hotel is very centrally located. Shopping, dining and major tourist attractions within walking distance. Shame about the expensive parking. 53€ for 2 nights (36hrs) - and that’s with the discount for staying at the hotel - is an expense I hadn’t really expected. Just saying.

Spacious rooms, good location

We stayed in a family room, which was quite spacious. This made it easier with a family of 3 to not be tripping on luggage. The hotel is centrally located and close to shopping, restaurants and museums. Bed were comfortable, but the room had a smell of musk or mildrew almost, as soon as you came off the elevator and through the first door to the rooms you could smell it. There was water damage on the roof in the room. The bathroom was quite large as well with a tub and separate shower. The drawers in the vanity weren't clean as they had hair in them, but overall the room was clean. The sofa bed our son slept in was comfortable however it squeaked so loud with even the smallest movement so it was a distraction in the night.
