Building is clean staffis nice, however, during my state there was no room service. So at the end, you will have to take out your trash as well as keep the room clean. Towels and soap was provided at the front desk whenever needed.

Nice big and clean rooms with fridge, dishwasher, stove and microwave. Comfortable beds and nice bathroom with with a bathtub. Great view of the city from the window.
The person I at the front desk was not very helpful with anything extra (pillow, towel). There is no AC, just a small fan. Had to leave the window open and run the fan all night. You are required to clean the room and take out your own trash. Location is the main problem. It is at the top of the hill, so anywhere you want to walk to is steep downhill/uphill coming back. No restaurants or breakfast places close by. The hotel does offer breakfast for 12 euros.
There is parking, but no lines for cars to park in between, so there is a lot of wasted space, and not enough parking. We had to park on the handicap spot!

Check in was nit the best, we struggled to fi d the rooms as its a big place and the reception was not clear.
Parking was available but ve aware it is limited, if you have a larger vehicle its tight, and very limited street
parking.
The rooms are basic butvthis is reflected in price.
We had two rooms booked and the one on top floor was much better with a super view over lyon.
We were only stoping over on way to italy this was just enough tine to cusit okd town, which was interesting and pmenty if pkaces to dine.

I am used to a campervan so having all the kitchen facilities and a safe suited me perfectly. The double bed was wide and firm. It wasn’t possible to have a cleaner for the six nights we stayed and I enjoyed the sense of privacy that allowed. The downside was that I had to run the hoover and put the rubbish out myself. Best to bring a dish towel and a kitchen sink plug too because you don’t want the dish-washer on all the time. Some reviews say the Residence needs an update but I enjoyed the slightly retro feel. The cloistered corridor was charming especially with the perfume from the trees outside floating in. I am in my seventies and found the hill manageable though my calves hardened up after two days climbing it. Metro La Croix Paquet, at the bottom of the hill, feels closer than the recommended metro stop of La Croix-Rousse. There’s a traboule just across the road! We had biting insects flying in at night in April - mozzie screens would be the best update for me. I would use the Residencia Villemanzy again.

Honestly It would have been ok if it had air conditioning. I was sweating like crazy. I could not open the windows because the first night I was eaten alive by mosquitoes. That elevator needs to be fixed...looking at the other reviews it's been broke for some time.

Overall a great smooth stay.

Highs:

The views over the city
The staff communication and friendliness.
The room was good size
Comfy beds
Location is up a hill but not an issue
Close to main areas

Lows:
Sadly bathroom hadn't been cleaned and shower was dirty.
Dishwasher was full and not cleaned
Hot rooms even with windows open.

However the above didn't really effect us. Would stay again.

It was good, but it would have been good to know beforehand that they are located up a very steep hill, so taking public transport and walking while pulling baggage is much more challenging. Also, there was a small leak in the incoming water pipe in the kitchen sink, which I let them know about.

This is a wonderful old historic building run now as a Residence. Really well equipped kitchens and very adequate rooms. Good big double bed. On a hilly site with a great view. On the right side of the river for shopping and eating.

Would definitely stay here again. Staff all very friendly and helpful.

The reception staff were helpful at check-in and the parking great. However, the room was terrible. Third floor, hot even in spring, with tiny window and no aircon, no power sockets near the bed, nor bedside tables! Bottom sheet was stained, quilt cover on inside out. Double bed was tiny. No housekeeping after our first night (no replacement shower gel or toilet paper — we almost ran out on our second morning). Toilet paper really cheap. So many little things that could have been so easily fixed for a more comfortable stay (like shelving in the wardrobe).

In the hilly northern region of Lyon we enjoyed our week at this property. Nice kitchen and apartments were a decent size even having a dishwasher. We had a lovely view over the river and the buildings as we could see across from the bridge. You are not far from a tram stop although the closest one is steeply down from the hotel so you may want to go up and walk further down with luggage. . You can easily walk into the neighborhood for groceries, shopping, and restaurants. This hotel is on a hill about halfway up from the flatter town by the river and the Croix Rousse district which was a nice neighborhood with a Sunday outdoor market, butcher shops, cheese shops, bakeries, etc. The only downside for me were the pillows they were too big I could not sleep on them. They were very firm and plump. This has never really been an issue for me and I am not very particular so I thought I would note it. I eventually put my coat in a pillowcase to sleep.

Lovely large, comfortable rooms with a smalll kitchenette and a huge bathtub. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our only complaints are that it is very hard to reach by car as one must wind through a maze of tiny roads and it is high on the side of a steep hill and our old legs found it difficult to get to and from the rest of the town.

Horrible service and incompetent staff. The staff don’t seem to realize that they are in the service industry. If you have to deal with Fabrice at the front desk, good luck. We tried to use the laundry service reserved for clients, but had to wait over 4 hours as the hotel apparently uses those machines to wash their mops and rags. The room was great, but the people running the hotel were absolutely useless.

Excellent check in, really fast and helpful. The building used to be an old military hospital, so the rooms are massive and well equipped. Lyon is on your doorstep. The views from the 3rd floor were excellent and the windows big to enjoy them. You are on a hill so if you have a problem getting u steep hill then that could be a problem. The parking is limited to about 15 cars, but very private, you need to drive in front of the hotel and park around the side. Looked pretty classy!

Great appartment. Very clean. In between Croix Paquet and Croix -Rossu metro stops on line C. From Croix Paquet it’s 5 minute walk up steep hill, but from Rosseu, it’s 15 minute , confusing , downhill. Great location. Up on the hill with great views in the area. Great resturant next door. Nice staff, very helpful. Little table, desk, Great Wall feature with a bunch of storable cubbies, bathtub too!

Beware of painful pillows!

Check-in was good and the location was lovely (nice views) though it takes work to carry luggage up the steep hill from the parkades nearby. Still, great location. Our biggest problem was the comfort. The bed was very uncomfortable with the worst pillows we had in France. Neither of us slept very well at all, which really compromised our next day of travel. To be honest, this was the only real problem, but it was a significant one. If the comfort of the bed / pillow was resolved, I'd be very satisfied with this accommodation.

My wife and I stayed here for a few days with our dogs in August. The staff were very friendly and the hotel was in pretty good condition. It is located near a metro stop that can get you around the city pretty easily. It is also near the town hall and a lot of restaurants, but you have to walk up a large hill to get back to the hotel.

In the thick of Lyon

This hotel is located high up on a steep hill and so has spectacular views over Lyon, however for me the best thing about this hotel is how it is in the thick of Lyon. I felt I was at its heart, where local bars, theatres and residents are,,, and to get to the touristy parts you have to walk through beautiful and sometimes dark windy streets with hidden pub and restaurant gems!

A bit of a barracks, but good value

This is a \"Residence\" rather than a hotel, and had the feel of student flats in a huge converted old building halfway up a very steep hill with narrow pavements. It is between 2 metro stations (line C Hotel de Ville to Cuire), but quite a long walk from either. Best to get a cab if you have luggage. Or get metro to Croix-Rousse and walk down pedestrian steps if you don't. Leaving the hotel go left down the steep hill to Croix Paquet. If you arrive after 9 pm you'll find the driveway gate locked and no clear sign indicating the hotel, just a small illuminated bell. Once through you have to negotiate another automatic glass door and buzzer operated by reception. Rooms are fine, with well equipped kitchen units and big bathroom. My TV didn't work, but I wasn't fussed. Free and fast internet. Bed and bedding very basic. Nice view of city the other side of the Rhone. No in-house restaurant apart from breakfast, and the nearest ones are up that hill at Croix-Rousse. And any large shops for provisions are a bit of a trek. But even so it was very good value (as was the Paris Bellambra I recently stayed in).

I cannot recommend this hotel, and I definitely do not recommend staying here when the temperature is over about 90 degrees. I had booked a stay at this hotel for a little over a week, but after several nights trying to sleep in a room that was close to 90 degrees (in the hotel's defense, there was a serious heat wave), I decided to leave. The hotel refused to refund the remaining nights of my stay, and--while keeping my money--were rude and made repeated attempts to hustle me out of my room, no doubt so it could be rebooked to someone else. Definitely did not leave a good impression.

Nous nous somme fait arnaquer sur le parking car nous étions garés juste devant mais ne savions pas s’il s’agissait de places réservées pour les Check in et Check out nous avons demandé à la réceptionniste du soir qui nous a dit que non qu’il fallait prendre une place de parking payante car le parking gratuit était complet… or le lendemain nous avons constaté que deux voitures stationnaient sur la place que nous avions la veille au soir nous avons donc demandé à une autre personne d’accueil si ces places étaient payantes ou réserver seulement au Check in et Check out ce à quoi elle nous a répondu que non que ces places faisaient également partie du parking gratuit…!
Nous avons donc payé 36€ pour rien (alors que nous sommes arrivés le vendredi à 19h30 et repartis le dimanche à 11h) on nous a donc compté 2 jours pour seulement un peu plus de 24h de stationnement… bref arnaque totale avec le parking car nous aurions pu et du économiser 36€!!! J’espère que Belambra fera un geste commercial!!!

Personnel très agréable et réactif, c’est le point fort de l’établissement. Également le confort des chambres. De plus l’hôtel est idéalement situé dans un très beau quartier proches des transports.
La chambre était dans l’ensemble assez propre mais pas irréprochable (sols et salle de bain poussiéreuse) cependant la literie est impeccable.
Le petit déjeuner n’est pas grandiose, un peu cher pour les aliments proposés et leur qualité.

Studio avec mezzanine très spacieux, très belle vue sur Lyon pour ma part. Plutôt bien équipé mais ça date un peu… poêle tefal rayé, et machine à vaisselle non fonctionnelle. Néanmoins j’ai passé 3 jours dans un quartier très agréable et animé en plein centre de Lyon!
Mon seul bémol ira pour le parking… il faut à chaque fois aller récupérer le bip à l’accueil, laisser une carte d’identité, faire le tour du pâté de maison, se garer et retourner déposer le bip à l’accueil… au 21eme siècle et à l’ère de l’IA… Juste un boîtier avec un code aurait pu suffire…
Bref, hôtel très bien placé, bonne prestation globale mais inadapté pour la voiture…

A FUIR.
J’ai été très déçu par mon séjour dans cet hôtel. L’accueil n’a pas été à la hauteur, les chambres sont petites et vieillissantes, la vaisselle n’était pas propre, et le buffet ne justifie absolument pas le prix demandé.
De plus, le parking est facturé 18 € par jour, situé à 100 mètres de l’hôtel, avec une télécommande à aller chercher soi-même à la réception : vraiment inadmissible. J’ai d’ailleurs payé pour deux jours mais, tellement découragé, je ne m’en suis servi qu’un seul.
Rapport qualité-prix très mauvais. Je ne recommande pas.
