Was disappointed during my last stay, and had hoped things had improved this stay. It’s obvious some renovation has happened but sadly the main building and ‘beach’ pool need a refurb. We did have some positive staff interactions but overall staff need to pay attention to detail - gardens and grounds (bottles left in flower beds, nappy on the lawn). Had to follow up on things. Still a beautiful location though.

We stayed for the Festival of Golf & WPGA event. We had a wonderful time as always. We appreciate the high consistency of excellence that is offered in all areas of the running of this beautiful visually stunning, unique property.
Special shout out to all the staff at all levels, who do there very upmost to create many meaningful moments for there guests.

Room great, service exceptional, location awesome ……. Only “complaint” would be the lack of table staff option in the lagoon bar. Appreciate its casual dining but as a family of four ordering, with the arrival timing of different meals, different flow rate for guests, any additions required…. Every interaction involved leaving the table and standing in a long line at the bar. Disrupted a family meal quite a lot.

I booked my stay at the Intercontinental and asked for my membership number to be recorded as an IHG member.
Upon arrival I was advised that this was not done and I did not have my points allocated for my stay. In addition to this, I had opted out of my room being cleaned to earn additional bonus points (however, these were also not allocated to my account). Lovely tropical feel and best hotel breakfast imaginable. Service in main evening restaurant not tops...plus limited menu there. Room was spacious and front desk service top notch.
The overall property is starting to look a bit tired, needing a refresh in some parts. Pool and lagoon areas exceptionally good.

Unimpressed and disappointed

I was disappointed in the room quality. I was what I would find at a comfort inn at IHG prices. The room smelled of mold and funk and it took over an hour while they tried to "clean" it. But that's not going to clean and we all know that. New room was better but still stunk. All the while the desk personnel were smiling and telling me all was ok. "just sit over there (and be ignored). I felt like it was in a B movie where the robot people are exceedingly nice when planning your demise. It wasn't ok. I think i just outlasted them and they wanted to get rid of me so I finally got the "cleaner" room. I opened the door to air the place out and just endured the mid day heat. There are much better places to stay. Food was pricey and insultingly average. I couldn't be convinced to stay here again. Lots of Bentleys and Ferraris. lot's of sizzle, no steak. If i was an executive at IHG I would want to see this review.

The main area and pool are great although the restaurants and accommodation are not as luxurious as I was hoping for. I received a full refund for dinner after waiting close to 2 hours for my meals on New Year’s Eve and the staff were very apologetic.

Rooms are tired, stained duvet cover not changed even after requests, but the pool area was brilliant. We spent the entire stay at the pool and faux beach, also we loved the absolute best bakery in Queensland just next door, Rise French bakery was the highlight of the stay.

We have stayed here several times and always enjoy the location, facilities and locality. Handy for local cafes and restaurants, shopping and beaches not too far away. Would recommend having a car to make things easier. Overall, a great base for everyone to enjoy.

A delightful short break, wish we had planned a longer stay. Th Hotel is immaculate and we particularly liked our suite overlooking the Marina with wallabies grazing on the lawns. Much appreciated the bathroom amenities, in particular the bath sheets and generous number of towels provided, spacious and airy, well furnished bedroom with walk in dressing room. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly and we appreciated the Club facilities where we were looked after very well by Roxy. Highly recommend this property and looking forward to returning.

We booked the Intercontinental as a last minute decision to stop on the way back to Brisbane. It was just for the one night to recover from Lennoxhead. It was this or the Imperial but I'm delighted I chose correctly.

This time? Wow! Just wow!

From the minute we arrived until we left we had absolutely superb service - from everyone.

The better half had knackered her ankle so we asked if we could get a lift to the rooms. Couldn't be simpler and in fact we used that particular service to go into the village and then to leave.

Wife decided she had to have some wedges so off to the outside bar I went. I asked if they could be sent to the upstairs bar inside but being a deefie... thought they said that was ok. Fifteen minutes later I had a feeling I'd misunderstood. The wonderful Veronica checked it out and said it was an unusual request but they all decided that they'd bring the wedges up. Up they came in their own boxes with the sauce in another one. Brilliant they were too.

The room itself (Phoenix room 333 overlooking the lagoon) was tops with two nice big double beds, proper coffee machine, comfy chairs and a good sized tellie.

Wallabies welcomed us when we went for a walk and a couple of them had joeys hiding underneath.

Breakfast had a decent selection with only one complaint. All the food was lukewarm; good though and the barramundi was hot and excellent. But for heavens sake turn up the water heat. Check out The Sebel Coolangatta to see how it should be done.

The hotel feels tired. Rooms were very expensive because of the boat show and I should have paid a regular room rate and stayed down at the Gold Coast in a newly renovated place. There was no forewarning at all that there would be a very loud party on the hotel lawn near our room until 10pm. I know 10pm isn’t extremely late but as an early riser I would have appreciated the information and I wouldn’t have booked the non-refundable room. The room is basic. You’re paying for the location.

Just the most beautiful resort! Everything was clean and stunning. Our room had everything we needed! The dining options on site were exceptional and our kids had the best time with the pools and mini golf.

"Tropical Paradise Just an Hour Away: A Phenomenal

Absolutely phenomenal experience! The service was exceptional, with everyone being incredibly friendly and accommodating. They went above and beyond by giving extra attention to our son, making him feel special with complimentary gifts and chocolates. Our room was stocked with sweets, and they even took care of our luggage. We were provided with a free buggy ride to the village for dinner, where they dropped us off and picked us up afterward. We enjoyed delicious pasta at Ioseco. The beach was stunning, with warm water and complimentary water bean bags and table service right by the water's edge. There were plenty of activities for the kids, including large chess, mini-golf, and volleyball. The Marina was impressive, with all the yachts on display. It truly felt like a tropical island resort, despite being just an hour away from home. Thank you so much for an unforgettable experience; we will definitely be returning!

Although the experience was mostly great there were a few issues. The air conditioning in our room malfunctioning (this was fixed rather quickly) as well as issues with access to our breakfast. However the hotel is in close proximity to several excellent restaurants and the grounds were beautiful.

not great value for money. The hotel outdoor area is meant to be the biggest selling point at the height of Aussie summer and is in great need of upkeep and renovation around the pool areas.
Food at the lagoon pool bar is double the price of normal costs and pretty underwhelming taste and presentation.
Whole interior lobby and decor is a bit dated - carpets need to be replaced in rooms.

Ok but needs some attention

We stayed for 5 nights over the Christmas/New Year period. Overall a good start but there were some issues

- staff generally we're unfriendly
- our room was invested with mosquitoes (we couldn't leave doors open any time of the day)
- the air conditioning unit in the room was loud - even when the fan was set to low.

Finally, although breakfast was included, at check-in the didn't explain that it was only for the adults. We were presented the bill for our child's breakfast on checkout.
