Hotel is a lovely old hotel centrally located to lots of restaurants etc., Rooms beautiful and beds large and comfortable. Also pet friendly which was a plus. But the room was TOO HOT & even though thermostat there to adjust no adjustment made any difference. We finally had to figure out how to open the large old windows in the middle of the night to get some sleep. Bathroom is old & small but serviceable. For the price I think bathroom should be better. The check in is hectic. Check in time not till 4pm! And whatever systems they use take a long time. Long lines resulted. I would consider staying again but would probably prefer a hotel with more modern accommodations if I’m going to pay almost 400/night after fees, taxes and parking.

What a fabulous themed hotel. The Graduate Hotel takes its theme seriously, from the DND signs which read “studying”, to the room keys with pics of notable Providence graduates including David Byrne, Laura Linney, Ted Turner and many more whose formed pictures hung on the wall of our beautifully decorated suite.

Wonderful check in staff, a trainee was exceptional. Fantastic room per usual.

The coffee shop is awful, looks great and it seems like the staff is just trying so hard to help everyone and does so while it's entirely mismanaged by the higher ups. As per usual the ones taking the brunt of the frustration is completely ignored by whomever should be managing what's going on. Support your workers, I don't think the Hilton chain even gives even a second thought to this. I saw this at The Graduate hotel in New Haven as well. Do better there

We’ve been coming to this hotel for well over 10 years. It’s our favorite place to stay as it’s nostalgic and so much history. For the last few years every year it’s seemed to go down hill a little more. I love the service at the desk, I love the beauty of the lobby and the rooms are pretty well kept up. What’s gone downhill is the heat in the rooms, the draftiness of the windows and the temperature of the water. The rooms are either incredibly hot and unbearable or freezing cold. The water temperature is often lukewarm to freezing. To pay upwards of $250/night for a standard room and not have basic amenities working well is a major turn off. The attendants at the desk are kind but to offer a free breakfast sandwich as a courtesy for the issue is sad.

Lastly, the hotel restaurant used to be great. Since Rieners took it over every year it’s gotten worse. The hours are horrible. To not open until 2PM or later on a Saturday is weak. Often running out of common beverages and it’s always freezing cold are other pieces that are a negative.

Again, my wife and I truly love the Biltmore but ownership needs to dip into the coffers to make some improvements to the heating system and windows. Spend money to open restaurant earlier on weekends. It’s sad that we and many, many others spend a lot of money for basic amenities to not work. I hope they improve these things or we and others that we know that go as well will be forced to stay elsewhere in the future.

The lobby was extremely cold, the 2 restaurants were extremely cold we were unable to enjoy a nice meal at the hotel and had to venture out in subzero temperatures. Numerous rooms did not have heat or hot water, although we had heat we did not have hot water Saturday evening or Sunday morning. We stayed at this hotel for a cheerleading competition, many families left and went to another hotel, that was not an option for us as we could not afford to relocate.

There was no hot water for our entire stay and the heat barely worked in our junior suite. I wasn't able to get the room above 63°F without a space heater. Maintenance wasn't able to do anything and said \"it may get better or it may not\". We got additional blankets from the front desk. We asked for a late checkout since our flight was not for several hours and were granted one additional hour.

The hotel and cleaning staff are so wonderful. The cleaning staff runs the place like the Navy.

Our room itself was cold and drafty. The older historic building has that drafty charm. Luckily, the hotel staff provided us with some space heaters to create more heat.

Coffee is always lovely from Poindexter and so is the staff. Outside of of cold room, the stay was lovely.

Unfortunately the room was not in great condition. The window treatments would not move up and down. The bed was so uncomfortable we were both tossing and turning all night from weird back pain which had never happened to us before. No fan in the bathroom. The comforter was thin and not warm enough. There were just weird details that felt rushed and shotty. Like paint sloppily done on trims and baseboards. You had to make sure the doors were pulled closed when you left the room. Twice I thought they were closed but came back and they were propped open. Overall I would not come back. Especially for the price for a king suite. This place has so much potential, it’s just sad the way it was renovated designed.

Due to being an old building, we called maintenance and they said turn the heat off to try and restart it, but it didn’t really kick on full blast so it was a chilly night. The hotel was very nice overall and in a great location. The aesthetic was beautiful and the rooms were spacious. The main problem was that they have a separate AC/heat system, so the AC cannot be run when the heat is in. If you run hot the only way to cool down the room is open the windows, but that only does so much. I turned the heat off and had the windows open but I was still sweating trying to sleep. The water pressure is also very inconsistent and changes by the second. The hotel could use some updates but I still would recommend.

The Graduate was central to a lot of the activities we had planned during our stay. Dinner was offered at Reiner's, but they had limited options. We kept going back because the staff was fantastic!
The only breakfast option on the hotel property was the Poindexter cafe. We opted to getting coffee every morning before we headed out for the day as we only had decaf options in our room.
The room itself has a gorgeous view of Providence. Definitely one of the highlights. There was only 1 trash can and no vending machines or place that was open after hours for water, snacks, etc. Not a big issue, just something to be mindful of.
Check in and check out were easy. Especially, when we had to leave at 3am to catch our flight.
If you're looking for a hotel central to downtown Providence and walking distance from shopping, activities and even hockey games, this is a great spot!

Fees assessed that was not previously disclosed. Early check-in requires $50 fee even though the room was obviously ready. One person working the front desks, causing long lines for check in. The area around the hotel did not seem safe to walk around, saw drug deal outside front doors. They are far better options in the city then this one.

Unfortunate ending to many stays at this hotel

The heat wasn’t turn on for the hotel and our room was 60 degrees with air conditioning going. I was not told there were space heaters available and when I asked the front desk for one, it never showed. Apparently they were supposed to be in our closets but there were none.

The front desk staff seemed overwhelmed . Our check-in was difficult . This was the 5th time or more we’ve stayed there and the grounds and service seemed to have gone down.

The room had damage and stains on the wall and baseboards , missing pictures in our parent’s room with just hangers on the wall. The property seemed run down.

The elevators were not reading room keys at checkin for at least 5 couples besides us that were trying to get the elevator operating

Our child is graduating college so we won’t be back this way, however the new owners Hilton should pay attention and overhaul the hotel where it is needed.

No heat! They haven’t turned it on as of 10/1. It was cold. They had to bring up space heaters. The bridge from the parking garage to the hotel was closed. Had to walk about a half block to get to the entrance.
Staff was nice. Hotel is dated but that may be part of its advertised charm. The lobby is awesome. The room not so much. No Kleenex or toilet paper refills. Bed was comfy. The attached restaurant was dreary. Also no heat cause the hotel wouldn’t turn it on.

It's definitely an older hotel. That means it has charm, and also some things that make you go hmmmm. For example, the wall paneling was peeling in my room. Convenient location. We had a booking mishap for our group booking and I don't think the staff handled it well at all. No manager was around when we realized this and staff were not empowered to reasonably meet the customer's needs.

The Graduate flunked the test!!!

This place is not accommodating at all, which you think for what you pay for a night they would be. All we heard was that this is our policy, this is our policy. We were there for a wedding and they wouldn't let us check in early so we had to scramble to check in after the service and were late for the reception. We had to wake up early the next day to beg for late check out so we could enjoy the wedding brunch and not have to rush to check out. Parking is a block and a half from the hotel. There wasn't room to pull up to the hotel so we had to drag our luggage from the garage to the hotel. If you are tall, don't stay here or you won't fit on the toilet seat as your knee will be wedged under the toilet paper. Very disappointing for a place the appears to be classy. And don't be in a rush. An elevator was out of order so you had to wait and hope the one that showed up wasn't already full. And you need a Phd to figure out how to work the thermostat. You can tell they spent some money at some point renovating the hotel but they must have had a small budget. The gym was small and no restroom. Wouldn't ever stay at this hotel again.

The hotel is old and tired. What once was a grand facility is just not any longer. Staff are not rude, but at the same time, offers zero hospitality. They don’t even offer water in the rooms. I have never been to a hotel that does not give at lease a small water bottle. Charge me, but offer an option. We had a big suite, but it was very dated to a point that we were not comfortable touching things. Bathroom was small; could not sit on a toilet unless the door is shut. Water pressure goes up and down.

Restaurant on the first floor is not affiliated with the hotel but similarly looked like a dive bar, not a hotel restaurant.

Staff was not rude, but that’s all I can say that is positive about them.

Someone needs to buy this hotel and return it to its former Biltmore-years glory.

The Graduate Hotel in Providence is a lovely boutique hotel located near Brown University. The suite is spacious and welcoming, almost like being at home. I especially appreciated the additional fan provided during this stay—it was such a thoughtful detail. If I had one suggestion, it would be to improve the lighting around the bathroom vanity, which would make getting ready much easier. Overall, it’s a place I truly enjoy returning to and would happily recommend.

The restaurants are not open on Sunday or Monday, which is very strange for a hotel. The carpet was dirty upon entrance to the hotel and again in my room. There was black mold on the bathroom tiles and the shower curtain was broken. The hallways and the hotel are extremely dark. The glass elevator does not work, so there is no sense in featuring it. Beautiful historic hotel

I stayed for a quick family getaway before my son headed off to college. What a lovely, historic hotel! We lived the decor, the furnishings, proximity to ask the areas we wanted to visit. It was a short walk to Waterfire and Federal Hill. The only complaint I have was the instant coffee in the rooms. For such a plush hotel, it's below standard. Keep the electric hot water kettle, add a pour-over coffee maker with real coffee selections. Otherwise, the beds were so comfortable, it was quiet, the carpets felt clean. It was 2 old rooms converted to one suite so we had a living room and a huge closet. We plan to be back in the future and stay a week.

The building is definitely very old, but the rooms were clean and the beds were super comfy. The room was also very spacious with double king sized beds. We stayed for 4 nights and felt very comfortable. Housekeeping switched out the towels each day. The only disappointment was that there was no water available anywhere! I didn’t see a fountain or vending machine anywhere. I think the only option to buy water was at the coffee shop.

While I admired the attention to their period decor, my particular room was a bit depressing with dark brown vinyl wall paper though the art reproductions and decor interesting. The only place to charge my phone was in the bathroom, couldn’t find an outlet to plug in the coffee pot (I guess I could have plugged it in the bathroom) I love old hotels but this was very pricey for what it offered…

The staff members were great. Friendly and efficient. The room itself was giant and we loved the layout with the two king beds separate from the sitting area. I was really just extremely disappointed with the bathroom. First, the lighting in the sink area was sooooo dim! It was hard to see to get my contacts in, and forget about trying to put on makeup or dry my hair. The lighting where the tub & toilet were was fine. But that door couldn't close properly! It seemed like the wood door frame was off or had swollen with age or moisture. I tried to force it closed but then couldn't get out without having my son or husband push at the door from the other side! We ended up just leaving it partially open so we wouldn't get trapped inside or make a huge racket when going to the bathroom in the morning while others were asleep.
One other note worth sharing is that there isn't great signage on the exterior of the hotel. We missed the entrance several times when trying to follow our nav system. If you use Google Maps to try to find the hotel, suggest you plug in 5 Dorrance instead of 11 Dorrance.

Stayed for 8 days. Location nice but the hotel, although lobby very pretty and tastefully decorated, the rooms are rather old and need renovation. The smell was old, AC extremely loud and fan weak. Personnel very slow and not really helpful, often times rude. I asked late checkout they granted me 45 minutes although I arrived at 2 am in the morning and they saw how tired I was. There were empty rooms in the hotel the next day and giving me only 45 minutes for late checkout while check-in is at 4pm, I found this is not a good service for hotel if this class (at least how they position themselves). Overall being a foreigner I found often times I wasn’t treated properly - this was worst treatment I ever experienced. Also, I had a valuable package shipped from Amazon and although I asked in advance the reception if it was safe to order it and I was assured that indeed it was, in fact when the package arrived and person at reception signed for it, they wouldn’t give it to me saying they couldn’t find it. Just shrugged. I found it truly disturbing. I spent half a day asking and waiting but even 3 days later no traces of my package, no compensation, no surveillance of cameras to find the package. I felt I was treated this way because I was a foreigner and had limited time to deal with this issue (go to police, talk to hotel too mgmt etc). Absolutely not worth staying there - many hotels around with much nicer facilities and service and at lower cost

I will never stay at the Graduate Hotel again. This was one of the most unpleasant hotel experiences I’ve ever had.

First of all, the air conditioner was incredibly loud — it made a terrible rattling noise that made it impossible to sleep. I changed rooms twice, and each time the issue was exactly the same. Clearly, this is a systemic problem, not an isolated incident.

Second, the cleanliness was poor — unclean bathroom areas, and overall sloppy housekeeping. Not what you’d expect from a hotel of this level.

But the worst part was what happened with my valuable package. I asked the front desk in advance if I could have a delivery sent there — they said it was no problem. I warned it was valuable. FedEx confirmed the package was delivered, and a front desk staff member even signed for it. But when I asked for it, they simply shrugged and said the package was lost. No apology, no responsibility, no help. The manager Lea was the only one who was nice and trying to help but overall it has been 3 days since the package is lost - no result. No video monitoring. No one responsible even person who signed for the package. Probably because I am foreigner?

This kind of careless and unprofessional attitude is absolutely unacceptable for a hotel that positions itself as upscale. My experience was completely ruined.

I do not recommend this hotel to anyone. Protect your belongings and your peace of mind — stay somewhere else.

This hotel has a nice old-world preppy charm, but I slept horribly. My room was right by the elevator. My king bed was only 4 feet away from the door. I could hear the conversations and dings every time someone gets in and out of the elevator. Why would a room be even installed there and the bed placed awfully closed to the door, which was old and had terrible sound-proof effects?
