Will be keeping this as constructive as possible. At best the property is 4 star. The room I booked was one bedroom pool view and I was put in a two bedroom ground floor room which overlooked the fence of the pool, NOT the pool.
Cleanliness needs to be seriously looked into. The room was extremely dusty and I started sneezing within 10 minutes of entering the room. It was quiet evident that the room had not been deep cleaned for a long time. The plant in the kitchen had a thick layer of dust all over, some of the sofa cushions smelt like feet, bed side tables and kitchen island was sticky, washing machine smelt like mould. Worst of all, one of the toilets was not cleaned at all and had marks all around the edges and the bowl and that particular bathroom smelt bad throughout.
There were cockroaches in the laundry, geckos in the living room and ants in the bed. These ants were very tiny and kept crawling around our heads and face through the night.
“This is common in Far North Queensland” is not an excuse and regular pest control should be the norm.
Main apartment door wouldn’t close on its own force, bathroom and kitchen lights flicker and make a static noise, and water pressure in the shower is too low. Bedroom was missing a TV remote and bad WiFi.
Overall it was disappointing to have spent over $1500 for a Birthday getaway and receive an average product. The location is beautiful, good restaurants around and away from chaos. Staff were amazing, Gabby was a highlight.

Best location in Palm Cove with beach access- older resort with good facilities and well maintained. We had a 2 bedroom beachfront unit on level 2. Bedroom one had an ensuite and large bed. Bedroom 2 had twin beds pushed together and a family bathroom across the hall. More suitable for parents and children.
Tip for next renovation- We prefer a modern walk in shower in ensuite, rather than shower over bath provided in both bathrooms. Stairs can be annoying- no lifts- but older guests seemed to be managing. Ask for ground floor if you have mobility issues. Staff thankfully carried our bags for us.
We enjoyed the vibe of peak tourist season and Nu Nu restaurant and walking to a selection of restaurants shops markets etc in Palm Coves beachside strip. There’s a small supermarket and a bottle shop walking distance behind the resort- or get a delivery from Woolies. Palm Cove is the nicest presented waterfront village in the area and Alamanda reflects this in their own presentation and styling. We 4 adults enjoyed our stay. Watching the life of the waterfront was entertaining- weddings, photo shoots, yoga every day.

Lovely view from the balcony of the beach. Great to get help with the luggage given there was no lift. The negative is that there are no toilets near the pool. This was a real problem given that we were on the third floor and had a small child.

This is a great location on the beachfront with easy access to the beach and the many restaurants and cafes on offer in Palm Cove. What we loved was the choice of pools and especially the jacuzzi! What we didn’t like was the bedding and pillows. They were way too soft. Slept terribly while we were there. Some of the fittings were dated and worn too. Expected more for the price. But overall a good stay.

Had an excellent stay at the Alamanda which started from the time we arrived. Room was very spacious and had an ensuite and bathroom. We had the 1 bed suite with pool view which was convieniently located across from the pool on the ground level. Just be aware that there are no lifts so if you happen to have an apartment on the upper levels, you will need to take the stairs. Lots of dining options around which we tried a few during our stay (NuNu, Chill at Portovillo and even the Tavern hidden down a pathway). Will definitely stay next time and bring the entire family!

Room is spacious my only complaint is the restaurant, awful service, high prices and limited menu. Breakfast average price is $30 plus toast around $9 so you can draw your conclusions, odd opening times and days but the worse are the rude waiters and manager, not aligned with the rest of the service of the hotel

ROOMS INFESTED WITH ANTS (multiple rooms according to other guests) AND ALSO SOOOOO RUDE WHEN WE TRIED TO HAVE THEM ADDRESS IT/GIVE US A DISCOUNT!! BEWARE!! We were on vacation from the US, for our honeymoon. They did a nice a job of being understanding about our delayed flight from Brisbane, had the room nicely arranged with music & champagne and overall was lovely check-in. The location and other accommodations were nice and MAY have been worth the cost, but the ANT INFESTATION in our room, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY THE TWO DIFFERENT RUDE FRONT DESK CLERKS MADE IT A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! We had a plate of frosting from a piece of cake that I left on the coffee table IN THE LIVING ROOM for maybe an hour while watching TV that got COMPLETELY COVERED IN ANTS, TO THE POINT I ALMOST BROKE IT WHEN I PICKED IT UP W/O REALIZING IT WAS COVERED IN ANTS. The first front desk person just brushed us off (\"oh sure, ill let housekeeping know\"/\"it's your fault for not telling house keeping about it in the middle of the night-at 11pm) and the other front desk/\"hospitality manager\" wanted us to \"pick something from the gift shop (probably $5-$10 for a room we paid TWO-HUNDRED A NIGHT for). That was only after we made it VERY clear how unhappy we were at the end of our stay!! BEWARE MULTIPLE ROOMS INFESTED W ANTS AND THE STAFF IS AWARE AND DOES NOT CARE/not willing to address it/properly take care of it! OUR KITCHEN, ONE OF THE BATHROOMS AND LIVING ROOM WAS COVERED!! The complex of apartments is older than some, but in a perfect location; at one end of the main beachside ‘strip’, it actually has a beach front and is adjacent to a creek & foreshore reserve. Grounds, pools and buildings are attractive and well maintained (one wing being repainted during our short stay). Apartments are spacious, very comfortable and well appointed. Some bathroom fittings could use an update and WiFi access was not available in some areas of our apartment - all minor matters. Staff were helpful & professional; the restaurant NuNu excellent. If stairs are an issue this facility has no lift. No problem for us, we intend to return and are very happy to recommend.

The heated pool is wonderful, set amongst beautiful trees. I was disappointed with the “fitness centre”. It’s really a rather small room with a limited amount of equipment. If you are serious about working out then you couldn’t really do this with more than one other person in the same room...it’s just too small. Similarly, the games room could do with a refresh.

Loved it - it was my second time back at this beautiful hotel. Cedric offered an extremely warm welcome, and a slight issue with my room after my first night (which was absolutely a one-off) was very well taken care of, and the staff went out of their way to ensure I was extremely comfortable for my second night. I love this hotel, and can't wait to return next year! Perfect location, great spa and restaurant, amazing pools, lovely grounds.

You can not fault the room size and location, however I would not recommend this property if you are travelling with toddlers or young children. We booked a two bedroom because the three bedroom had stairs in it. We were ‘upgraded’ to a three bedroom (with stairs) and we said we wanted to go back to a two bedroom were Told we couldn’t unless we wanted to move twice in our 6 night stay. The three bedroom was also on the third floor leaving us lug a newborn, toddler and belongs up 2 flights of stairs every time as there are no lifts. They provided us with a child gate, however it created a lot of hassle and annoyance. The balcony is really dangerous as a toddler can easily climb up and fall over the rail. Our two year old figured out how to open the very easy and loose lock on the door within an hour. The only heated pool is very dangerous as it has a very steep drop off to two metres only leaving a very small area of the pool usable with you have young children. The staff at the resort are wonderful however can’t compensation for the other shortfalls. The wifi is awful too.
